Ready !!!

Ready as well. As a side note this is my first time posting on paizo so I may be a bit unfamiliar with a few of the features, but I hope to learn quick.

As a game question, are we using the Tremere ranks? I'm not sure where my character would fit in it. But climbing the pyramid would definitely be his main goal ha ha.

Down below is a FAQ as well as a text box which gives a tutorial on "How to format your text", which will assist.

I will decide that in the next day or so, I am leaning towards not doing so and allowing the PCs to create your own hierarchy within the context of the chronicle.

8th Generation Tremere | Bloodpool: 13/15 | Willpower: 9/9

Ready when you are.

Wenzel:
Sire - Simon Augustyn whose Sire was Dr. John Dee.

Based on your concept and our discussion, I have you hailing from London, England.

I will post how you got from there to Vienna in Prologues.

Sarah Cordon:
Sarah's Sire was slain by her own folly. As her prowess was partially martial in nature, her training was overseen by Karl Schrekt himself. Sarah's willfullness prevented her from becoming an Archon.

Sarah's talents led her to protecting Tremere in dangerous environs, especially the middle east. For a time she was the bodyguard of the Tremere Prince of Addis Ababa, Ayelech, as she seized power in the capital of Ethiopia.

Sarah's ambush took place in the Oman town of Thumrait where her Ward (Emma Blake) was seeking to acquire a rare iteration of Frankincense as a spell component. (Emma was able to flee due to Sarah's efforts only to meet the Final Death a year later). Sarah was preserved by Habiba al-Sikkeen, a female Assamite warrior who recognized a "kindred" spirit in Sarah and admired her bravery against impossible odds.

After a decade of keeping Sarah awake but staked, and perhaps going a bit mad speaking with a staked Kindred, Habiba brought Sarah to Istanbul to trade her to the Tremere. The trade was brokered by Nakshidil of Clan Toreador who ensured Sarah's safety until Claas Drescher was able to retrieve her.

Contacts - (1) Karl Schrekt, (2) Ayelech, (3) Habiba al-Sikkeen, (4) Nakshidil, and (5) Claas Drescher.

More on how you connect with the events about to take place in your prologue.

Henry and Marcus, I will try to get to you both tonight.

Zhang Jim, you will be a bit more involved so that won't happen until tomorrow. Badger, based on the time and how much work I still have to get done, I'll probably get to you tomorrow as well.

FYI to anyone who has taken Enchant Talisman, that Talisman is created and available for use at the start of Gameplay as I believe at least two of you selected that Ritual.

Henry Gaden:
Sire Slàine McKinney (D), destroyed by agents of Mithras.

Henry's Herd is taken from the Societas Rosicruciana Society chapter in York, your base of operations as our story begins.

Apprentice Ranks:

• The First Circle of Mystery (A1) You're the baby. Learn to feed, learn the Traditions, learn your clan disciplines and what it means to be a Vampire of Clan Tremere. This is a good rank for In-Game embrace concepts, or very new players. Likely still under the Accounting in Camarilla circles.

• The Second Circle of Mystery (A2) You've mastered the basics, but still bear watching to make sure you don't do anything problematic. You won't be taught any secrets here, since you've not yet gained the full confidence of your Regent. If you're a first time Tremere player who is fairly new to the game, this is a good place to start.

• The Third Circle of Mystery (A3) Trusted member of the Chantry. At this point, you're considered generally competent and can function largely on your own recognizance, but deeper matters will still be out of your reach. Most players start about here if they are familiar with Tremere.

• The Fourth Circle of Mystery (A4) Accomplished and trusted to get things done and pursue their own projects. This is where politics heat up and currying favor with the Regent becomes key to future advancement.

• The Fifth Circle of Mystery (A5) You've proven your competence, loyalty, and effectiveness. Here you get some responsibility for training the A1 and A2s and may begin recruiting the A3s and A4s to aid in your projects, as long as they don't interfere with existing orders or goals of the Regent

• The Sixth Circle of Mystery (A6) At A6 you are likely to be delegated the busywork of running the Chantry, or of maintaining a satellite or special project chantry. Grooming for promotion to Regent often begins here.

• The Seventh Circle of Mystery (A7) At A7, your Regent is pretty much comfortable recommending you to his Lord for promotion to Regent yourself. You are your Regent's right hand and anything you tell your juniors is assumed to be from the Regent himself, or at least approved by the Regent. Alternately, your Lord might have hand-picked you for this rank as a warning to your Regent. In this case, expect all hands to be turned against you, and the Regent to seek reasons to take you down...or out.

In case I DO decide to use the Ranks of the Pyramid

Marcus Townshend:
Contact - Chen Shou-yi, Professor of Archaeology in Soochow University based in Shanghai. Harley Farnsworth MacNair, a Professor of Chinese History at the University of Chicago introduced you to Shou-yi due to your shared discipline of Archaeology.

You are now, of course, Professor Emeritus at the University, a position that was easy to achieve due to the assistance of Criatas, the Brujah Elder and Primogen of Chicago.

Your Sire, having recently risen due to your dig did not accompany you to the USA and instead has temporarily relocated to the Prime Chantry in Vienna. More on that in your prologue.

Badger:
Your chosen Sire, Edward Bainbridge, is also 7th Generation.

As you are 7th Generation, we would need you to have committed amaranth to be 7th. I am ok with that, probably a good explanation as to why you learned Obfuscate.

For your Alternate Identity, let's have it be a "Brujah" anarch named Simon Equivocata. Simon is rumored to have committed the amaranth. Thus, a blood hunt on "his" head prompted your Sire to convince you to flee and find a way to have your alias die the Final Death, he suggested Berlin as it's so easy to die there. Along the way though, some other opportunity has cropped up...

Contacts: (1) Sir Henry Pottinger - Clan Setite. This Setite Ancillae was the former governor of Hong Kong while alive. Clan Setite Embraced him and use his contacts from his Mortal life to smuggle valuables back from the east. He knows you as Simon.

(2) Ayelech - Clan Tremere. She is the Prince of Adis Ababa, the capital city in Ethiopia. Your Sire is acquainted with her from his time traveling to Africa. She is part of your smuggling network, providing safe havens for ships from the far east.

Rival Sire - Jasmine de Lacy, the French Toreador.

Badger & Wenzel Rainer. You both knew each other in your Mortal lives as street waifs in London and have both been Embraced by fairly prominent Sires of Clan Tremere from London.

Henry Gaden, I have you hailing from York. You would be aware of both of these younger Tremere.

I will begin the Prologue for the 3 of you together in Great Yarmouth UK.

Interestingly enough, based on selections of Sires by myself and by yourselves, I have generated a little side plot. Should be fun!

Donato Elba:
Your Sire in THIS campaign is the infamous Lord Casmir. One of the Conspirators of Isaac who was himself the Childe of Malgorzata, the "Mother of Gargoyles".

I don't see Donato's Merits and Flaws listed on your OTHER Avatar page, what are they again [I know THIS iteration of Donato will be slightly different than the Venice Version]?

As your Sire is infamous, Clan Tremere have a significant distrust for you. I will work that into your Prologue once I see merits and flaws and can finalize my thoughts on this version of Donato Elba.

Zhang Jim, my current plan is to get to you tonight, but it might be tomorrow based on my workload at work.

Damn, it's going to be Wednesday, I have 4 client meeting tomorrow evening plus my full time job all day tomorrow.

Such is RL... Folks, I will TRY to get this fully off the ground Thursday but it might be Saturday as I am starting up table top modern Vamp on Friday night.

Thanks a lot ST. Changes sound great!! Noted. :-D

No rush, take all the time you need.

No worries, life has been hectic over here too.

As an aside, I sunk just enough background points into things like Domain, Status, and Resources to have access to a small amount of Camarilla-recognized territory, but it is in Hong Kong. Which may or may not be useful to this Chronicle.

It's pretty awesome and part of why I need a bit more time to review and fill in the gaps for your character.

Apologies. I'm here too!

Storyteller Usurper:
Yeah, I noticed that, but if you look into it further, he is somehow an extra generation above his sire, so I figured his generation was an oversight. I don't mind getting there via diablerie though if you prefer that. My alternative route to Obfuscate was going to be through my Settite contact that I would probably owe a boon much to the chagrin of the clan.

Sorry, ER visit messed me up tonight, I live (this would be a nifty post if I didn't) but I will not be able to finalize any further details until tomorrow night.

Still a bit too drained to get to you Zhang. I have read your background though so I am thinking about how I want to fill in the holes but not able to concentrate well enough to pull it all together.

All good. Take care of yourself! Also, did you catch that spoiler?

Badger the Thief wrote:

Yeah but I got to look into that more closely.

Badger:
Gotcha, I agree, Edward's generation was probably an oversight. Let's remove the part about you committing Amaranth and simply say that you slew that Nosferatu and drank him dry but got no generation from him.

Obfuscate from the Setite in exchange for Celerity or Auspex makes sense enough.

I will finally get to this tonight once the Wife heads to bed. Feeling better than I was feeling. Not in the mood to do work so I will do this to at least get something constructive done tonight.

Zhang Jim:
Originally a part of the Shanghai Chantry formed by a Tremere whose identity is unknown. The Chantry was destroyed in the ongoing Shadow War of the region as your Sire Artemis Gauthier (a Tremere of the line of LeDuc, supposedly one of the first Tremere) was on the wrong side of a feud at the time. Unfortunately, you did not understand much of the structure of the Kuei-jin society so it was and still is unclear to you, why that happened.

Your wanderings led you to explore mainly the Blood Courts of Beijing though you would on occasion return to the Flesh Courts of Shanghai.

Four names of Kin-jin (Cainites) did pop up in your travels during brief interactions with the Kuei-jin: (1) Zao Lot, his name was synonymous with betrayal though his Clan is not clear to you, (2) Celestyn, his name was synonymous with harmony and you began to drop it when in a tight situation with aggressive Kuei-jin. You believe him to be Tremere based on, (3) Voracia, her name was synonymous with demonic energy though her Clan is not clear to you; and (4) Thomas Wyncham, a Tremere Elder recently arrived in Hong Kong.

Once you realized there was a Tremere Elder in Hong Kong and that the Fire Court of Hong Kong was quite weak, you realized that a return there was sensible.

You presented yourself to the Prince of Hong Kong Robert Pedder who initially refused to grant you Domain (you had the sense he was a British Elitist) until Wyncgam intervened.

You were able to join Wyncham's Chantry, which consisted at the time of only Wyncham himself as his Childe (Oliver Thrace) had been sent to Shanghai. After some time studying with Thomas and establishing your Domain in Hong Kong, Wyncham informed you that you would need to head to Vienne to be "formally introduced" into the Clan.

Domain - Several Blocks in a Hong Kong District near the Chantry.

Herd - British Military operatives in Hong Kong.

Contacts - Robert Pedder (while he may begrudge your existence, in your time in Hong Kong he began to work with you as there are still very few Cainites in Hong Kong at this time).

Mentor - Thomas Wyncham (while he would normally be a 5 Mentor as a member of the inner circle, your short duration in the Chantry and his busy duties, plus you NOT being a member of his bloodline reduces his Mentor value to 2).

Status - To be discussed in a separate post.

[Small change to the letter being sent narrative but it makes sense in the context of Hong Kong].

Waiting for one last PC to check in, if he's not checked in by Monday, I will be starting anyway.

-------

I will be using the Tremere Pyramid hierarchy for the game:

Henry Gaden - A7
Zhang Jim - A3
Marcus Townshend - A2
Badger - A2
Wenzel Rainer - A2
Sarah Cordon - A1
Donato Elba - A1

-------

I need to do one last once over on stats as well, which I will get to tomorrow/Monday.

ok, I think this is uploaded correctly, let me know if anything is amiss

I'm updating the other avatar with merits and flaws.

Donato Elba:
Donato's Sire is a rogue Tremere but has not joined with House Goratrix and thus the Sabbat.

He spent a great deal of time in torpor having sunk down just before the convention of Thorns (the official formation of the Sabbat) and having risen recently, the night of your Embrace. He rose in a mausoleum which was in the care of your parents. Having gorged on the blood of your family, he Embraced you as a guide to the "new" world and as an "apology" for his actions, though he didn't seem particularly sorry for having done so.

His singular focus upon return was to understand current Vampire politics allowing you to learn what you needed to, to excel in this new life. He was a stern teacher on Path of Blood and also taught you Celerity as an element of surprise in an emergency as few Tremere have the Discipline.

Soon enough he picked up a stray, your Gargoyle Retainer, who was a renegade Gargoyle.

The two of you spent most of your time in the country of Italy, the former city states which he was familiar with in life.

Once he had sufficient knowledge, he released you and encouraged you to join the Tremere Clan and seek acceptance. He hopes that through your success and trustworthiness, he may be allowed back into the fold.

Your "in" was through of all Clans, a member of Clan Ventrue, Rhodry. An outcast from his bloodline but one that has close ties with Clan Tremere in Italy. He introduced you to Lotharius, former Prince of Vienna. Through him you were bound to the Council of Seven and have been residing in Vienna for several months, waiting for something to do...

I still feel like crap, so won't get this moving forward till Saturday, sorry for the delay folks.

No worries, focus on feeling better and please take all the time you need.

Minor question, how do I show up as one of the players in this campaign? This is my first time using Paizo so I'm still learning all the features.

once you post in gameplay you will appear, I am starting with prologues so please do not post I/C.

Sarah, that you did is ok, but you will start elsewhere before you end up At Prime's doorstep :-)

Also, you can make a post in the gameplay thread in order to add it to your list of active campaigns and have that character added to the list and then immediately delete it, so it's not cluttering up the thread. That's what I (and I assume others) did.

Rolling out prologues between today and tomorrow. They should be relatively short, but I hate the "you all meet at an Inn" start to anything... and the start right at Prime is the equivalent.

Alright, 3 of 7 done. Still waiting for Badger and Donato to check in.

As I said, I wanted the prologues short this time, the Venice prologues took forever and as this is more of a troupe format, the need for extended solo RP is not as necessary.

Sorry! I had a post typed up; then the forum ate it, and I was like "I'll do it again later" and then forgot. I'll get something quick out and worry about more physical description when more of us are together.

Side note: Characters unfamiliar with China may not realize it, but Zhang Jim uses the Chinese naming convention, meaning Zhang is his family name and Jim (James) is his personal name.

I did not pick up on that, thanks for the heads up!

8th Generation Tremere | Bloodpool: 13/15 | Willpower: 9/9

After tonight I will be out of the country for a few days and not likely to post again until Wednesday.

Wenzel are you wearing a mask or would I be able to see/recognize your face. Also, we've been modifying the spoiler tag to get the header. It's [spoiler="HEADER"] in case you were wondering.

No I am not wearing a mask and thank you because I was trying to figure that out!

Everyone but Donato is done with the brief prologues. Tomorrow night or Tuesday night I will get the game rolling At Prime Chantry.

Make that Wednesday night, a ton of clients want to be Divorced RIGHT NOW! Never seen so much impatience from so many couples at once...

Work just will not relent (plus I had a few errands to run today).

Apologies but updates are likely to take place Saturday.

The good news is that THAT update will bring you ALL together and we can really get going then.

Sorry for the delay but the good news is I am all caught up. Hoping to start pushing things forward now that you have all gathered.
