This is Halloween; this is Halloween; HALLOWEEN; HALLOWEEN; Halloween; Halloween. *whistles*

*watches the tumbleweeds*

Male - Smoog's Player - RPGer/37th Lvl -

Yes, Halloween! For those of us who enjoy donning the façade of others, this is a busy day. I will probably not post after noon PST. I will catch up tomorrow.

Unholy Abomination

Happy Halloween everyone! Hoping to live up to the precedent of utter madness that you have all set.

dude, thats a crazy class...

Hegh, I'll take "Sees cannot comprehend my chaotic whims" If you'll take "I fear for Hegh's mental health."

I'd like to have at least one bond with everyone since I've got the super helper class.

Unholy Abomination

Sounds good to me Sees.

Seemed thematically appropriate. I agonized over class choice for far too long...

Since Gourlaug was a black dragon and you're a white one, I would also say that your Fire breath skill should be re-themed to acid or frost. It's between you and GMooshy, though.

Agreed. I decided to go with frost, because one of the advanced moves doesn't really make sense with acid. As part of that, I changed the name of my "resource" from Blaze to Ice. Moosh, let me know if this works for you. As written, the Dragon Mage sets things on fire. I modified this to freeze targets. If this is overpowered, happy to switch it back.

Unholy Abomination

Backstory:

Gorlaug's honor guard, also sometimes pejoratively referred to as the Blood guard by other members of the tribe, watched over Gorlaug's body when the lord slept. Hegh was selected as a hatchling, and grew up regularly drinking small amounts of Gorlaug's blood, as did all members of the honor guard. This changed his body and bent his mind to the will of the dragon.

On the day that Gorlaug fell, the adventurers tore through the honor guard as little more than a footnote. Most were killed. After the adventurers left, the remaining members of the honorguard named Hegh as the bortaS. As required by the tenets of the honor guard, the others filled a cup with a mix of their blood and then sacrificed themselves. Hegh, as bortaS, drank the cup and took to the skies, seeking vengeance. He must bear the shame
of surviving.

Unholy Abomination

Did I break it? It feels like I broke it.

Male - Smoog's Player - RPGer/37th Lvl -

I think Halloween and weekend football might have distracted quite a few people. It will probably start up again soon. Welcome aboard.

Unholy Abomination

Hegh's Bonds ... One for everyone:

Fssst seeks power like mine, but is not yet ready.

Grick and I are bound by blood, shared or otherwise.

Smoog has much to learn about the world.

Sees-Death cannot comprehend my chaotic whims.

Flung has helped me in the past. I will follow him.

Pork has been touched by the primal elements, and I shall find out why.

My God has a special task for Thunk.

I raided some other classes for a few of these.

Unholy Abomination

Finally, Sees on your bond about Hegh's mental health. I think that Hegh hallucinates that he is in a constant two way conversation with Gorlaug. Gorlaug has never actually spoken to Hegh before.

F Kobold Bard Lv 7.03 | HP:19/22 | Dmg:d6 AC:1 | CHA:+2 WIS:+2 CON:+2 DEX:+1 INT:0 STR:-1

Aww man, I thought I would miss a bunch. Some days there are a bunch of days less. I'll get used to it!

Nice, the servers are un-broke.

[Sheets] [Map]

What are the skeleton minions doing? I think Thunk and Sees are being swarmed by any that remain between his mighty yaup and her 7-9 effect.

Most of them were focusing on the kobolds attacking Bolgir when he screamed that they should help him, but they don't seem able to cross the threshold of the geyser. Instead, they stare at it with a sort of weird fascination.

well that was odd. I couldnt see the two posts before mine when I was posting. Oh well.

My post probably went through as you were typing yours. It happens.

Realistically it doesn't really change your actions; you were still flailing about, trying to keep your soul within your body, when the geyser turned benign.

Yay level. No idea how that works! Does that change how xp we have?

GM - Is it possible to have a net gain from the soul sucking and then infusing from Gorlaug's geyser of power? I rolled less on the loss and more on the gain and think Gorlaug could be helping Smoog grow from joe average nobody to an actual Avenger.

Not in this case! Your current XP track remains the same, you just got a level bump. That means you can choose one stat to increase by 1, which affects your max HP if you increase your CON, and you gain an advanced move.

Smoog: Yes. Soul-sucking is an imprecise art. You, by fortune or chance, got a greater portion of Gorlaug's power than you enjoyed before, buffing your max HP. Perhaps the great Necro-Dragon has something special planned for you, artificer.

Here is my new move

Smash!

When you hack and slash, on a 12+ deal your damage and choose something physical your target has (a weapon, their position, a limb): they lose it.

+1 to STR so it is now a +2

how much XP do you need to level up? I am not finding it on the SRD

Agreed, did Fssst level up? How does leveling up work?

Unholy Abomination

My new advanced move allows me to permanently take on the Hardened Scales feature of my dragon form, and gives me an improved armor based option in the future. +2 Armor at all times, and + another 2 to cold damage.

I dunno Hegh, I think I gotta swing the nerfhammer at your class a little bit. Right now your Advanced Move is a straight upgrade from the Fighter's advanced move Iron Hide, and with the extra +2 to cold damage as just a bonus. To me, that's not fair. You gain a permanent +1 Armor plus the cold thing, not +2. Even a single point of armor makes an ENORMOUS difference in Dungeon World.

[Sheets] [Map]

Leveling up is found in the advanced moves in the player hound-outs.

Quote:

When you have downtime (hours or days) and XP equal to (or greater than) your current level + 7, subtract your current level +7 from your XP, increase your level by 1, and choose a new advanced move from your class. If you are the wizard, you also get to add a new spell to your spellbook.

Choose one of your stats and increase it by 1 (this may change your modifier). Changing your Constitution increases your maximum and current HP. Ability scores can’t go higher than 18.

In this case, we just pick a move, increase our level and increase one stat.

It's okay, GMooshy, the more effective characters are the ones that die the quickest.

Unholy Abomination

All good. Let me upload the class playbook tonight and let me know what you think. I'm also perfectly happy with bailing on Hegh and playing one of the core classes. I'm not trying to outshine anyone.

I'm not saying I'm gonna toss the magic acorn of hit points straight into the lava, but I'm not saying I ain't either. Sacrifice must be made, and I don't burn.

F Kobold Bard Lv 7.03 | HP:19/22 | Dmg:d6 AC:1 | CHA:+2 WIS:+2 CON:+2 DEX:+1 INT:0 STR:-1

Fssst, does "I cast something into the fire for Sees-Death and still owe them their due." mean you burnt something of Sees' or somehow owe her some boon? If so, she's going to try to get that acorn from Fssst. One way or another this will change her bond with Fssst at the end of the 'session'.

Sees, casting something into a fire, as Fssst sees it, is an act of sacrifice. As in "Fssst sacrificed something for Sees-Death, and still owes them their due."

It could be read to mean that Fssst feels he owes you payback in the form of vengeance. Not real sure yet. If it's more that Fssst helped Sees-Death sacrifice something of herself, then it's entirely possible that Fssst is waiting to see where the balance comes in, i.e. what Sees-Death will get, in return for her sacrifice. If this second variation is the case with our bond, Fssst would believe it's within the rights of Sees-Death to demand the acorn as hers by rights.

I'll let you decide, since the bond affects you more. If you want the Acorn, just ask for it before it gets melted.

I built a beautifully crafted door and left it open for you, whatever Fssst's reaction (to go through it or slam it shut) it will be interesting and tell us more about Fssst. Just making sure you know I wasn't trying to hint at any particular reaction.

My advancements were +1 to WIS and Eldritch Tones.

Also, I got double sixes on my Arcane Art roll. Smoog and Fssst will get super-aid the next time they are aided, but I hear we have crits on double sixes.

What's the damage going to be from this? Lava is crazy hot.

Unholy Abomination

Moosh,

Once I figure out private messaging I'll send you a link to the Dragon Mage playbook. I also allowed all of the community made playbooks in one of the games that I GM'd and I ran into a problem with a few classes that I found to be inherently broken in play. I'm happy to go with any changes to the class you'd like or like I said, run with a core class.

In the meantime, I'll choose a different advanced move:

Elemental Veins
When you take damage, one enemy within Close range takes 1d4 damage, ignoring armor, as a gout of frost erupts from the wound.

Male Ashen Kobold Immolator - 3rd Level - HP 9/15 - STR 9 (+0) - DEX 8 (11) - CON 13 (+1) - INT 11 (+0) - WIS 18 (+3) - CHA 15 (+1) - Dam 1d8

Shouldn't be much. The willingness is as important as the actual act, and your point of keeping ourselves ready for the challenges ahead is a good one. Fssst isn't going to risk anointing anyone in the party with more than superficial wounds.

Unnamed

I don't have a clue what is goin in w this. Thunk will stay away from being burned though

Sees, don't forget to remind me about the double 6s next time you interact with Smoog or Fsst in some way. I'll remember to apply your crit!

Hegh, I know you're not trying to outshine everyone. Armor in particular is a very tricky subject in Dungeon World since the damage dies never go incredibly high, so the HP pools are necessarily low. That means every point of armor is even more important, and gaining a permanent +2 from a level 2-6 move just doesn't fit the power curve at all. The Elemental Veins talent is fine, everything else is fine for now, I just reserve DM veto power if s*+% gets too cray cray.

Unholy Abomination

Looks like hallucination Gorlaug was right. Hegh does look terrifying...

[Sheets] [Map]

It's worth noting that clerics get "Divine Protection: while you wear no armor or shield, you get 2 Armor" It's a move I was thinking of taking if Sees' faith becomes a larger part of her character.

Not OP because it has the armor/shield restriction, whereas the dragonscales wouldn't.

Male Black Kobald Skirmisher - Level 3 | XP: 7 |HP 18/18 | STR+1; DEX+2; CON+1; INT-1; WIS+2; CHR

My second level move:
Evade:
When you attempt to escape from an enemy’s grapple or movement hindering attack, roll+DEX. ✴On a 7+, you quickly escape or avoid the danger. ✴On a 10+, you can also immediately make an Opportunity Strike against the enemy.

WIS is now +2 bonus.

Male Ashen Kobold Immolator - 3rd Level - HP 9/15 - STR 9 (+0) - DEX 8 (11) - CON 13 (+1) - INT 11 (+0) - WIS 18 (+3) - CHA 15 (+1) - Dam 1d8

I'll improve my Wisdom to 17 and take Moth to the Flame as my 2nd level move.
