A shaft extends above and below into darkness; the cave it penetrates is dimly lit by a pair of smokeless fires burning in braziers against the wall. A large winch sits to the northwest of the shaft, its thick chain hanging down into the gloom below. Columns of rock carved into statues of a winged, goat-headed demon leer from the cave’s sides, where numerous exits and doors branch off. To the southwest, the cavern walls are carved with an increasing number of goat-headed demon carvings, while a sickly
amber glow flickers from an opening at the far end of the cave.

Around the cavern are 8 creatures you identify as Kalavakus that leap forward at the opportunity to attack as they walk on air!

Sorry, I don't recognize the name - do we know if these particular demons can see invisibility? If we don't know, Damiel will use the wand to cast invisibility before moving to the "left".


You are not sure Damiel but assuming that someone makes the check they do not normally see invisible creatures. As demons though they possess some magical abilities with select few having that ability.

Damiel grasps his wand of invisibility and casts the spell on himself, slipping to the side of his original position.

Drawing the weapon would be a move action, casting would be the standard action, so he only gets a 5' step in case one of the demons is able to fire at him.

Arigoder finds himself surrounded by a group of 4 kalavakus. One of them casts haste on the rest as he focuses its attention on Arigoder to enslave his soul.

One of the other kalavakus tries to trip Arigoder...

Nasira glances at Ansha before calling down a smite that flows over the group to the west surrounding her allies.

Mythic Holy Smite:
You draw down holy power to smite your enemies. Only evil and neutral creatures are harmed by the spell; good creatures are unaffected.

The spell deals 1d12 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d12) to each evil creature in the area (or 1d10 points of damage per caster level, maximum 10d10, to an evil outsider) and causes it to become blinded for 1 round. A successful Will saving throw reduces damage to half and negates the blinded effect.

The spell deals only half damage to creatures who are neither good nor evil, and they are not blinded. Such a creature can reduce that damage by half (down to one-quarter of the roll) with a successful Will save.

Arigoder and Morgrym should be unaffected.

I slid the area of effect left to surround Arigoder and Morgrym and their dance partners. Nasira’s not sure about Ansha yet and she’s loathe to harm an ally.

Arigoder shakes his head as the wind is knocked out of him, realizing that his sluggish reactions is at least as much from the magic as it was the fall. With force of will, he burns some of the power in himself to try to return to his normal speed, then leaps to his feet, trying to parry the attacks as he does, before quickly trying to strike the demon behind himself.

Using a mythic for amazing initiative to gain a standard action. Also, since you can make AoOs while staggered, the parrying is possible.

If the second shot drops the blinded creature, which I assume is unlikely, please redirect the third shot back to the flanked one. If I hit either of them twice, clustered shots would apply.

Damiel fires a perfect shot slicing between Arigoder and Morgrym to find a weakened Kalavaku, The arrow imbeds itself in its chest as it slumps to the ground dead. The second and third shot are directed at the blind Kalavaku. Thanks to id being blinded and sneak attack along with massive damage from Nasira's spell that demon is also killed.

The 4 Kalavakus continue their attempts to enslave souls as each of the party members (not Damiel) need will save DC 18 or become enslaved. Success means staggered for 1 round. Fail and -6 to all attacks and saves vs that kalavaku.

The blind staggered Kalavaku takes a defensive stance as he waits for the blindness andn staggered effect to end.

One of the others to the north does a partial charge trying to trip Arigoder.

As the kalavaku makes contact with her in its attempt to trip her up, Ansha vanishes in an illusory swirl. The real enchantress reappears nearby, behind Nasyra.

Immediate action to use mirror dodge, which should spoil his whole attack sequence (hopefully).

Will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23


Ansha tries to be deceptive as the demon charges her. As she attempts to teleport away she realizes the latent power of the surrounding nahyndrian crystals prevents all teleportation abilities. As such the demon connects with her causing her to stumble and fall prone.

Ansha you have a high enough spellcraft and know arcane that any such attempts will automatically fail unless from a CL 20 or higher

Ari's immune to flanking (improved uncanny) as long as he has 1 panache -- which he does. So, by my count, he's taken 47 damage as of now, though missing a parry here will add to that.

Arigoder shakes his head and once again draws upon the slice of the divine within him to try to press away the oppressive crushing weight in his head from whatever attack the demons are throwing, regaining at least a measure of his normal speed and grace. He quickly stands, once again trying to bring the blazing sword in his hand between the beast's attacks as he does.

Mythic Holy Smite:

Edit: A 20' radius burst appears to cover all of the creatures. Arigoder and Morgrym are immune to the spell effects.

Even though 4 of the 5 demons make their save, the power behind Nasira's blast still left them all blind for at least 1 round. The kalavakus writhe in pain as the power washes over them causing 1 to dissipate. With them being blind Damiel takes full advantage as he critically hits 1 wiping it off the face of the demon plane. The next 2 arrows also send one of the demons into an eternity of oblivion.

The blind kalavakus flail helplessly att he positions that they last saw their opponents.

They would be blinded til Nasira's turn. Since she went before Damiel then they would not be blinded on his turn.

Not too badly - was at 47 damage before I stood, parried all three AoOs, and then got hit for 9 -- so down 56. That said, I'm not sure if I'm fatigued, or if that only applied on a crit.

Dang, Morgrym.


Arigoder is able to kill the 2 on him since the smite attack kills the first one outright. His other 2 attacks will kill that one. Nasira will channel and do enough damage combine with what ever Damiel adds to kill that one. Morgrym in a flying frenzy of uncommon dwarven speed flies all the way down south and flattens the last kalavaku pinning it to the wall with his earthbreaker and making a mess of everything in a 15ft radius.

With the last enemy fallen, Nasira will move to the edge of the hole before looking around the chamber for any clues regarding where they need to go next.
