If I don't help them, we may all be in deeper trouble. Try not to move and I will come heal your wounds shortly."

He heads toward So'rien, extending a large sword from his hand as a swift action even as he moves forward. When he gets close enough to swing the blade, he readies to take a swipe at the nearest maggot.

not sure if I can move and get an attack in one round - depends on distance and movement conditions - please let me know

"No. I will not run while friends fight on. He may stay behind me, and I'll protect him, but I'm not going anywhere yet"

Pakak has seemingly ignored the fellow who was held by his own cloak in return, and he fires a ray of frost at the nearest maggot.

Well; seeing that I’m part of the initiative and on the map, I guess I’m formally part of this combat.

Seeing that one of the folk have been assailed by some maggot, he draws his sword and moves to aid.

Moves to P:11.

nice hits! not sure if we can charge though as we're waiting on Variel to confirm if it's rough terrain or not, because if it's not, Mael would have done the same thing as you - charging forward to attack

Sir Garith Mordrand wrote:

Well done, indeed!

no it is not rough terrain unless you are on the boulders themselves.

Papak, sorry that misses, With a tremendous amount of carnage the shield knight proves that he is more than capable in dealing damage to his opponents. Bringing his sword down he separates the maggot into two equal halves.

Oriana you have enough movement to get to So'rien and Maelchar you can move and attack as well. Ryun with a bab of 1 you can draw your weapon as you move so you would still have a standard action remaining.

Ah - very good; in which case I will attack it -

I would have moved 5 more feet to flank, though, since I still had the movement available to do that.

Attack - (+2 to for flanking, -1 for Power Attack)

Oriana strikes with her longsword at the maggot on So'rien. She is flanking it with her twin.

Attack with longsword: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 + 2 = 15

Maelchar, the woman seems to have been quite disorientated from the fall and looks up at the sound of your voice. Through the darkness she is unable to see who you are. Mustering up her strength, she shakes her head and a light appears on a stone next to her. I will be ok I think. Just need to gather myself and take stock of the situation. "I am fine, Clay-kin. I did not see you at the ceremony at first, so I am glad you've made it." this far. Just as dwarves consider themselves people of the stone, they often call humans people of clay. Sometimes it is an insult, but it is not meant so with Ryu. Rather it is a sign that while he is not a dwarf himself, he is never the less kin to the Ironwall clan for those dwarves that fostered Pakak later raised Ryu as well.

He turns to the nameless man in the cloak, "Continue to stay near me and I will try to stand between you and danger. You do not wish to give your name, so what would you be called?"

Indeed the calm countenance of both So'rien and Sir Garith manage to diffuse the rising temper of the man that Oriana freed. While still suspicious of you all he does settle down and approach the group. The name is Horgus Gwerm as most of you should know already. I was there next to the stage when that demon appeared causing all that mayhem. Next thing I know I hear a roar and the ground opens below me. You all look like you can at least provide me with protection on the way out of here. How am out I hire you to escort me to my home on the surface. Yes well consider yourselves hired and for now I am your new employer and boss. If you get me back home without any more damge to my person i will pay each of you 250gp. As you can tell i am a man of great importance and means, howeverI am in need of a weapon if more of those beasts appear. A rapier if you have it.

Nice job you 3 in that order. Between the three checks you moved him from hostile to indifferent. Unlike most diplomacy checks you can make another check in less than 24 hours to improve his attitude but not right now.

Yet when Sir Garath makes mention that he is following Aravashinal's advice about rounding the group up and taking a roll call the blind man nods his approval. Taking his time with his new affliction Aravashinal moves closer tot he sound of the voices. I had the sounds of combat but they have ceased. Truly we are fortunate to have such fighters amongst us. Maelchar you approach the woman to the north and after a few short words the healing energies flow into her. With a muffled scream she collapses to the ground clutching her left leg. What wasn't noticed before was the crushed tibia that must have happened when she fell. The magical healing you provided managed to mostly right the bone fragments in their correct location. Alas she will always have a limp still from the damage. It was amazing that she was even able to stand and endure the pain of such an injury. After the tears subside, she stands and tries to put her weight on the leg. Finding that she is at least able to move around on her own, she smiles and puts an arm around you. Thank you so much. I was afraid to move before I was in so much pain. I am still have some injuries but it is nothing I can not manage.. The bones coming together were just a shock to the system. My name is Anevia Tirabade. I am at your service. Here take these as thanks.

My skills and bow are at your disposal until we reach the surface. I was a scout in the crusade and You will find that I have some skill in such areas.

She is equipped with a shortbow and 4 arrows, shortsword and leather armor.

By healing her leg you have moved h from indifferent to helpful. She offers you to take,
alchemist's fire (4),
smokestick (3).
Her broken leg...
Anevia's leg was broken in the fall, and as a result she moves at half speed and cannot run. She also takes a -4 penalty on all skill checks requiring movement (Acrobatics, Climb, many Stealth checks, and Swim) and a -2 penalty to her AC. If the damage she sustained in the fall is healed, the penalty on skill checks is reduced to -2 and the penalty to AC is removed, but completely healing her leg requires a regenerate spell.

Pakak you would need know local or nobility.

Very well then if you do not accept then I will just offer the other your share to see me to safety. One does get what quality one pays for.

As Mr Shin starts moving about the room, his eye catches sight of blue reflecting the light from the rock Anevia is holding. It is located in the rubble but not a threat. As he continues to make his circuit around the cavern he sees two passageways leading off to the east. The northern most passage seems to lead to what appears to be a rudimentary ?campsite? Is his best guess. While the southern passage leads to a small cavern as well. Without going down the passageway he can't tell what is there.

I am already not going to like deep sight. 120ft with stealth and perception like that. Nice choice of a feat and evolutions..

Maelchar looks around in the rubble for something that Anevia might be able to use as a crutch or a cane to make movement a little easier for her. While he does so, he speaks, "A pleasure to meet you Anevia. As I said, I am Maelchar Zeru and will be happy to introduce you to my companions, new and old. I think we are about to do some mutual introductions so there is little need to go over it all twice. I thank you for your offer of gear, some of it might come in handy, but perhaps you should hold onto it for now, those alchemists' fires might prove very useful, but perhaps moreso in your hands than in mine. If you truly think my friends and I should use them, then perhaps in the hands of our wizard when he runs low of spells? Come, let us meet with the others."

When he is done searching for something that can be an aid to her movement, he offers her his arm, approaching Aravashanal as well, offering the blind man his other arm by physically placing the man's hand on his arm. "Come, friend, let us all meet with the others and do the proper introductions that are needed."

"I will aid you in digging, if you wish those things removed," Ryu says quietly to Pakak.

He does not mind doing work, and decides to leave the politics of the situation to wiser heads.

Noting that Pakak has offered services, it is Ryu's duty to accept as well.

He looks at the man intently for a moment.

"You would ask us to serve as your guides and protection? For this you make your contract? If so - I will agree to the terms of protecting and guiding you; for those are the only terms you named and I am not trouble by them," he says carefully, watching the man who offered the money.

He glances at the others in his party, but speaks to Pakak directly.

Mr. Shin comes bounding back bowing and bobbing. Master, he says in an extremely cultured tone bespeaking a lifetime of noble service. Down one of the tunnels I have seen what appears to be a campsite of sorts. That is the northernmost tunnel to the east. The tunnel to the south of that seems to lead to another cavern. With that he waits, staring unblinkingly with black eyes, sheathing and unsheathing his claws, his nose continuously twitching.

Oriana bowed her head toward So'rien and then across at Maelchar and Garith. A family trapped together ...

She did not often envy her brothers or cousin for she loved them, but at times such as these she wished she had a finer tongue to impress and coddle noblemen. It halved the time to gain information or sway their actions.

Oriana stood in the darkness and watched the pompous one, Horgus N Gwerm. She listened to the man's words and attempted to read his body language, wondering if there was more to this self-serving man than one saw on first appearance.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

She heard Mister Shin speak to her brother and tell him of a campsite but she did not pay it too much heed, hoping to understand Gwerm better.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Sir Garith, the items are definitely not evil nor is anyone in the cavern with you at this time.

Oriana, you can tell that Horgus is a gruff man but has a good heart. He places a high value on his life but that is customary among those with wealth and influence. If turned friendly he may be a man of great resources and financial aid.

----------------------------------------------

After spending 5 minutes worth of digging with the aid of detect magic to locate all of the items, you all manage to pull away a total of 6 palm sized flat blue objects. Their exact nature eludes you until, gathered together, you all share a sense of extreme sadness and agony with an undercurrent of resolute determination. As one you all recognize the items for what they truly are, dragon scales from Terendelev as he fell. The scales start to glow in each of your hands as you instinctively understand their powers.

Roll randomly for which scale you get and it's power works only for you. Only one scale of each type can be found.

scales:

These palm-sized silver dragon scales are unique items-essentially minor artifacts resulting from Terendelev's death on the Storm King's blade.
Each of Terendelev's scales grants a different power to the person who carries them. The powers granted do not function at all if more than one scale is carried. The powers of the four scales are listed below-any nonevil creature that handles a scale immediately understands its use. All spell effects are as if from a level 19 caster.

1) Cloudwalking: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast levitate. A pillar of roiling clouds rises below the levitating object or creature, growing and shrinking with the target's altitude. This pillar is 5 feet in diameter (regardless of the target's size) and provides concealment (2 0 0/o miss chance) to any creature or object wholly contained within.
2) Disguise: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast alter self. While disguised, the target gains a +4 bonus on all Bluff checks made against evil creatures.
3) Resistance: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast resist elements-but only against electricity or cold.
4) Sacred Weaponry: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell, this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.
5) Vision: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used cast darkvision. Unlike a normal darkvision spell, this effect stacks with normal darkvision to increase the range by another 60ft.
6) Healing: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast cure moderate wounds.

DESTRUCTION The Storm King Khorramzadeh can destroy each of Terendelev's scales merely by eating it.

4) Sacred Weaponry: Three times per day as a standard action, a scale can be used to cast align weapon, but only to make a weapon lawful or good. Unlike a normal align weapon spell, this effect can be cast on an unarmed strike or natural weapon.

I'll take it! awesome!

Choosing a scale among the six was not a difficult thing. Oriana went for the one which drew her the most and delicately lifted it into her hand.

1d6 ⇒ 3

Oriana gets 'Resistance'.

"Thank you for your help..." He says as they dig the items out, and then he realizes what they are

Quote:
After spending 5 minutes worth of digging with the aid of detect magic to locate all of the items, you all manage to pull away a total of 6 palm sized flat blue objects. Their exact nature eludes you until, gathered together, you all share a sense of extreme sadness and agony with an undercurrent of resolute determination. As one you all recognize the items for what they truly are, dragon scales from Terendelev as he fell. The scales start to glow in each of your hands as you instinctively understand their powers.

"The scales of Terendelev! It is an honor to hold such remnants of the city's great draconic champion."

He pulls forth one with reverence.

Garith, since you made nice (and are in a position to) with Aravashinal, try and get a CLW potion from him for your cousin So'rien, please? We can then conserve our limited CLW spells. Thanks.

Oriana, you can tell that Horgus is a gruff man but has a good heart. He places a high value on his life but that is customary among those with wealth and influence. If turned friendly he may be a man of great resources and financial aid.

It seemed the man was more than than his gruff, insolent words. She would have to make amends - at least apologise for her lack of social delicacy if she were to bring him into the fold and gain his trust.

Using her darkvision, she maneuvers over rock to the side of Pakak and Horgus Gwerm. Bowing in a formal manner, almost military in style, before the nobleman, she speaks steadily to redress the fault, "Sir, I am Oriana Zeru, an Inquisitor of Iomedae. My sworn duty is to protect and I pledge my sword arm. Like my brothers-in-arms, I will do all that I can for you and the other two citizens we have rescued. I apologise for my tone earlier and I did not mean to tear your cloak, simply dislodge you from confinement. I humbly ask your forgiveness."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 It looks like DIP is going to suck for Oriana. Her brothers and cousin have more success, as always.

Humble was not a quality Oriana possessed much of but she could attempt to be for the sake and security of her brothers and comrades. She was sincere in her efforts nonetheless. Perhaps in time Gwerm would come to see it.

amazing we all rolled something different. THat leaves disguise and vision between Garith and Ryu - maybe they should just roll d2's at this point?

Garith takes up a scale, examining it closely, and whispering a quiet prayer of thanks and sorrow for the Dragon's sacrifice.

Scale:
1d6 ⇒ 3 Resistance
Edit, as there is onl one fo each scale, Garith gets the scale of disguise, leaving Vision for the only human in the party so he can have darkvision 1d2 ⇒ 1 it's disguise

"Perhaps we should address the campsite first, as the sounds of our exploration and combat may have alerted the denizens of this place of our presence? If they are a threat it would be best to address them now than to go galavanting around in the dark waiting for them to follow behind us." Garith suggests posing it as a question to allow Aaravashinal and Horgus a modicum of authority, having been raised and trained by such commanders.

He also quietly asks Aravashinal "Sir, one of our member was injured in the combat, and requires healing. May we make use of one of your potions in order to reserve our magical healing in case of another battle? " So'rien, how much damage have you taken? It may be good to save the CMW potions if we can cause they do a lot more in a fight and cost more than 2 CLW's iirc

Edited post Mael, thanks. I got Disguise, for more alter self/day, and Vision goes to Ryu the human

which would leave 'vision' for Ryu, handy to have our human have darkvision too when he needs it

and Garith - per Variel "Only one scale of each type can be found."

quick edit, the scales are silver upon closer inspection not blue. Will get a better post tonight.

Terendelev was a female silver dragon, right?

Yes the dragon was an ancient femal silver dragon. Ironic how the only non darkvision character got the scale of darkvision. Overall not bad allocation for each. The worst match up was probably Sir Garith with another alter self spell. Then again if he is trying to avoid detection tht is a decent way of doing it.

Almost simultaneously as the report from the eerie bunny creature with unblinking eyes wa given both Aravashinal and Horgus respond contradicting each other.

You stealthy ones should go and lead us as you may determine what the threat actually is before we come across them. Knowledge is power and we can avoid some encounters perhaps that way.

We should all go together with our strongest in front to provide a bulwark for those behind. That way our show of might will deter people from fighting us and run.

When he hears your apology Oriana he nods his head to you that he heard it and it was acceptable. Your future behavior towards him will speak louder than words and he is waiting to see what transpires next.

Nothing is ever easy and straight forward in Pathfinder so why should this decision be?

Ryu holds the dragon scale gently in his palm, and puts it close with his possessions.

GM - what "slot" does the scale take on a sheet for Magic Item Slot?

Oriana remained silent, choosing to allow those more gifted in speech to address the two noblemen. She had noted Gwerm's nod and it would have to do. She had humbled herself before him and there was naught more she could or would say on the matter, for it was now past. She would have to tread lightly with this one.

She remembered Patak had asked after torches for the humans without ability to see in the dark. From her pack, Oriana removed four torches, using her flint and steel to light the first and then light all the others from it. She passed a torch to the Lady Anevia, the two noblemen and Ryu. She put the flint and steel away in her pack. (A torch burns for 1 hour, shedding normal light in a 20-foot radius and increasing the light level by one step for an additional 20 feet beyond that area (darkness becomes dim light and dim light becomes normal light).

Oriana waited until Mister Shin had moved in front before taking her place behind him with her brothers and cousin, her longsword readied before her.
