"A swing of the sword worthy of tale, if i ever saw one Horatius!"

Leiff follows the example of his companions and starts the long hike back to their starting point and better air...

"Thank you my friends, Erastil was surely with us. Unfortunate that it needed to be done, but best done swiftly if at all."

The map // Initiative >> Theor & Thaurux > Yeti > Rest

You start making your way down the path, and experience little trouble. You know what is where, what is best avoided, and where not to put your feet. You reach the cavern where you last had a good night's sleep.

Snow clouds are gathering up ahead, and by now everyone is feeling the effects of the lighter air.

IC: continue or rest?

Lyn looks over to her friends.

"I may be because I'm a little gnome, but I'm feeling pretty dizzy right now. Would all of you mind if we rested here for awhile?"

Seeing the shelter once again and hearing Lyn's suggestion Theor nods "Perhaps we should get some rest before finishing the journey back. I am exhausted as well and it looks like poor weather is brewing."

"Agreed, there is no sense in exhausting ourselves."

Horatius assists in setting up camp before seeing to his gear.

When all of that is done he'll ask Thaurux, "You have some skill with languages my friend. Would you look at the writings in the cave and see if you can translate them?

"At home they always say, be it on sea or land, it is best not to test the ire of Gozreh... Stopping here sounds like a plan."

He assists the others in setting up camp

The map // Initiative >> Theor & Thaurux > Yeti > Rest

As you all set up for the night, the winds pick up and a small snowstorm picks up. You have enough shelter to not be bothered by it, but being outside would have been more challenging.

In the morning, you notice the weather has turned to a calm winter breeze again, and you can make your way down the mountain without much trouble.

Horatius takes a few moments after his morning prayers to once again take in their majestic surroundings. The long views and serene landscape have a calming, centering effect and it's easy to see why the monks chose to make their home here. Feeling a bit refreshed he turns to preparing for the day and begins the trek once the party is set.

putting together our notes in a single report, picking the brains of the others for details (eg the translations Thaurux made) in order to make a complete summary. Some extra time spent on the mysteries surrounding the braid...

Explore, report and cooperate afterall .... There is ample time to talk about it on the way down. The compiling is probably done in town.

Burn it to the ground and take their stuff? :)

Horatius spends most of the trek down focused on the trip itself. Traveling downhill at first seems like it would be easier than the difficult climb but sore knees and joints quickly make their opinion known. None-the-less making their way across familiar terrain eases the effort and soon the town they started at is before them. Rising plums of smoke speak to warm fires and inviting inns hurrying the parties pace.

In the relative safety of town Horatius is glad to once again walk among a larger community. The stark beauty of the untamed mountain wilderness is near to his heart but it's where goodly folk carve a place for themselves within such a land that his spirit truly lies.

Sitting with his companions he asks, "Perhaps it might be worth asking about the two monks who left the monastery before we depart. It seems likely that they would have stopped in town after making the descent."

Nothing anymore, I guess? :)

As you reach the lodge, you dump your stuff back into your own quarters and start cleaning the gear, replenishing your arrows and getting some muchneeded "feet in the air" time.

Second question: we are reaching the end of the first book. Could you clarify if you (A) want to continue with this character into the second booklet, or (B) want to step down, due to whatever reason. No hard feelings :)

Nothing in particular I'm looking to do first. Just ready to hand in my report, so to speak. I think I will step down after this. It was a fun game, but I have to cut back on my PBP, so I'm trying to "rest" certain characters as their current games end. Thanks for running this Rick, it's a really neat adventure!

Is this a second module, i.e. 1 XP, 2 PPs, etc.., I am game but will want to do the whole get a wand of "not tax the Cleric" or bard :P

The map // Initiative >> Theor & Thaurux > Yeti > Rest

As everyone is ushered into the Venture-Captain's chambers, you notice he is quite busy.

When one of you coughs to break the silence, he looks up to you and speaks.
"It is you who have brought back the braid, and for this you have my personal thanks. I can not have been an easy task, but you have pulled through, as I had been told you would."

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Barbarian 1 (HP 13/13 | AC:14 | T:9 | FF:14 | Fort:+3 | Ref:-1 | Will:+0 | Init:-1 | Perception: +7)

”The terrain proved more hazardous than the beasts… I know this may not be my place, but may I ask, what is the fate of the Braid. Since its previous master left it behind, none of the monasteries disciples could call upon its power and so they abandoned the monastery. The braids previous master took one student with him at the time, a disciple by the name of Ying Pei. Perhaps searching for his last disciple may uncover the secrets of the braid.”

Silver Crusade

Male Human Paladin 2 | AC 14 T 11 FF 13 | HP 20/20 | F +7 R +3 W +6 | Init +1, Perc +1 | Smite Evil 1/1 | LoH 3/3

Horatius nods in agreement with Thaurux. "It is unfortunate but it would seem the braid was at the heart of the demise of the monastery. The community there was undermined by jealousy and mistrust and now houses only the creatures of the highlands. From what we have learned the monks overcame their pettiness in time but what they had built was lost."

Grand Lodge

Male Human (Ulfen) Savage Skald (Bard) 1 || AC 14 / 16 (shield) || Touch 11 || Ff 13 / 15 (shield) || HP 10 || Fort/Refl/Will +2/+3/+3 || CMD 13 || Init +2 || Perception +5

Leiff follows Horatius' example with a nod. After the two men had their say he falls in and hands over the written report.

"That being the jist of things. We have compared and compiled our memories and notes into a more detailed report. Also we've added untranslated rubbings of symbols we found in a cave, and a battered journal we found close by some bodies. It where the remnants of an expedition by a fellow pathfinder by the name of Rickard Murton. Since Thaurux is the only one that seems to understand it's content he would be a better choice to discus any details of it."

The map // Initiative >> Theor & Thaurux > Yeti > Rest

Back!

The venture captain looks at all of you, and listens to your tales. In the end, he looks at the bundle Leiff presents, and starts reading. A servant that was standing to the side motions that this could take a while, and ushers you out.

You go back to your lodge.
I assume.

Technically, this is the end of the adventure. Please tell me what you want to do/buy before I fill in the sheets :)

Starting this (tier 1) in less than a week.
Might have some places open
Anyone interested?

Liberty's Edge

Thauraux is interested. Level 1, 1 PBP under the belt.

Barbarian 1 but favored Class: Sorcerer? :-)
Going for dragon disciple?

Liberty's Edge

yep :) long road ahead though

I am interested. Will throw someone together today.

Interested.

Who do I have in range and not in a game, currently?

Chuurock Bin Ausk, Ossirian half-orc Cleric of Pharasma 4.
Thearor Leafsplitter, Scarzani half-elf Power-Attack-based Fighter 2
(In a game) The Great Swarmholio
Carrel Firth, Grand Lodge half-elf chronicler-bound Rogue 1

Unidentifed rebuild (thinking about a Swashbuckler or Slayer)
Something new with no experience at all . . ..

Chuurock, Swarmholio and Carrel have all had their profiles updated for use in PBP. The others will just take a little time for me to type in.

Definitely interested. I am going to make a new character for it, so i can really make whatever the company needs. I already have a sorcerer made, so other than that i could play anything.
I am going to make a monk and il post that soon, but if you want something different i can flex.

Make sure to apply with the character that you would like to join with. I won't make a choice, neiher will the rest of the guys between multiples. One character a person, and explain briefly what makes him/her stand out from the rest (character fluff, not game mechanics).

Necrobarb, make what you like to play, not 'what the party needs". It will serve you better in the future :)

My choice will not be dependent on party roles, but on the characters. Hell, i wouldn't even mind 6 fighters, as long as their characters provide a very nice story... =)

Grand Lodge

Necrotizing barbarian presents:

Flurber Monkey
A Goblin Monk
(see profile for more info)

Found as a toddler by a human monk, the human took in the Goblin and raised him, calling him Monkey, and the first words the Monkey could say was Flurber, So the kind old monk named him
Flurber Monkey.
Flurber monkey has studied hard under the Old monk to learn the ways and calm his chaotic mind. Although he still battles with his nature Flurber Monkey has taken a vow to stay away from fire, and never bite anyone.

As for equipment, i will figure that stuff out later, probably just traveling provisions and that kinda sort He will be an unarmed striker type.

I don't keep a character in the stable that I don't want to play. That's why I have a pending rebuild, actually, because I just didn't enjoy the character I had tried.

I am a firm believer in the social contract of public gaming, and PBP is most certainly public. We all "come to the table" with the responsibility of trying to help everyone else enjoy themselves. Some people do a better job of this than others, certainly. I have character concepts that I won't impose on a table unless they express a desire to have THAT CHARACTER join them (The Great Swarmholio is the worst current example - as a Great Cornholio rip-off he teeters back and forth across the line between funny and annoying, and I'm never quite sure which side he's on until I get reactions).

Now since you want to run at the lower Tier, Chuurock really doesn't fit.

Thearor is a non-social sociopath who works for the Pathfinders because they WANT him to break things and people on a regular basis. He could have been Aspis consortium just as easily, because both need his kind of muscle, though the Pathfinders claim they don't.

Swarmholio is currently otherwise occupied.

Carrel is uncertain of his own capabilities in the field, yet, but he is easy to get along with and tries to keep the team focused on the Pathfinder Society's business. He is a beginner, certainly, but he is a professional tomb robber and gentleman.

I do not understand why offering the other players a chance to choose between which persona they will have to put up with for several weeks of player time is considered inappropriate. It is part of marshaling tables at any large event. Certainly, some people negotiate with "I play X". They land with people who need an X or who get the leftovers.

Teaching people that this is the right way to marshal tables teaches them to ignore the social contract before ever sitting down at a table. That IS inappropriate.

Goblin is not a freely playable race within PFS.

Indeed, you cannot play a hobbit. Sorry man, this is Pathfinder Society Organized Play. Please read the document :)

Grand Lodge

Ahh sorry about that, my computer has been giving me issues so I tried to make it off memory. I will retool the same idea to make it PFS legal. Sorry about that.

The Exchange

Submitting Zandibus the Magnificent, Sylvan gnome sorcerer with elephant companion. Background not yet added, but wanted to throw my name in.

Grand Lodge

Okay Dwarf, Same concept to replace monkey.
Thanks for the heads up about the race, I totally missed it.
Thanks for considering me in being part of this adventure!

I'd be interested in creating a Kensai for this, if that would be useful.

Like I said above Chris, simply apply with your character so we can see him/her. I will take all the applications and look 'em over before choosing one.

Thank you Thaurux, Zandibus and Hoggard for your submissions.

Liberty's Edge

Having barely survived the dangers of the Fallen Fortress (1PP Adventure), Thaurux sets out to find another opportunity for glory and more importantly the meaning of his recurring dreams. His injured leg has recovered but he remains scared in a strange manner as if something lay dormant within the wound.
After several failed employment negotiations he is beginning to wonder if the stench of the Troglodytes he has slain has stayed around. His usual approach of letting his glistening muscles and appearance do the work may require some refinement.

Very nice Thaurux, bonus points :)

All the other lurkers out there: recruitment is closing in 24 hours, so better get your move on.

So far: Thaurux, Hoggard, Zandibus.

Don't know about: Chris Parker and Hustonj?

Silver Crusade

Here is my Submission,Stats in profile PF #73135-4

Orri:
There are men and then there are Ulfen Troll wrestlers. Venturing into the wild with their bare hands and little else these warriors are above all others. Taking on viscious ice trolls is not for the faint of heart and it is expected of all Glima they will first wrestle and slay a large predator taking on its mantle in the process.

Orri did just this at the age of 17. Breaking the neck of a large snow tiger, the young Ulfen entered full manhood. Not content to wrestle his peers any longer, yet not powerful enough to down a troll he struck out on his own to challenge all he would pass. Racking up victories and making friends around the Inner Sea soon lead him to head over the top of the world with a caravan heading out of Taldor. It was as they made into the Lands of the Mammoth Lords, Orri would make a name for himself.

As luck would have it his group came across an embattled group of Kellid warriors beset by a demon most foul. It was then revealed that this caravan consisted of members of the Silver Crusade looking for such an event. Not to be left in the cart Orri donned his tiger mask rushing forward ahead of his armored allies. A furious battle ensued with several of the Kellids lying mortally wounded at his feet Orri made his move. Leaping high into the air he slammed both feet into the devil crushing its defenses just as the great sword of a mighty paladin descended upon its now open neck.

With the demon dispatched and the tribesmen tended to, the Ulfen turned to his companions and was met with admiration and sponsorship into the Silver Crusade as a token of their appreciation and goodly acts. The large man willingly accepted for he knew of the evils in his own homeland he would soon face. But, for now the mysteries of the east and their fabled martial skills awaited him. With his gaze cast to the mountain range before him a grand smile broke across his face. Mysteries indeed.

Silver Crusade

The tiger face is a mask, not catfolk, lol.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Very good, i was just thinking that. Thanks for your submission :)
