Thaurux, jumping is an option, but if you want to end up in the square fo the ghoul you would need some kind of bull-rush attempt, so I'm going to rule no. You can jump, make a succesful acrobatics attempt so you don't fall prone, and then still stab the creature, if you want.
DM Rickmeister |
Sorry guys, kinda busy with renovating our second bedroom. I'm trying to keep up the flow, but as you can see I've been kinda overwhelmed.
Most of the (dirty) work has been done, so I should be able to get back to more regular posting before sunday!
Theor Garess |
Totally meant to post this up on wed but it's been a crazy weekend. Just got back from PAX East and I am launching my digital game Kickstarter tomorrow. So going to try and catch up today but it may be as late as Wed before I have a chance to post.
Good news is after Tues (unless our Kickstarter just absolutely blows up) things will be back to normal for the forceable future and I should be back to my twice a day posting.
DM Rickmeister |
Working two full-time jobs for two weeks now guys, so I'll check in but posting might not be daily.
Don't be a stranger now! I'll check whenever I can :-)
Lynthara |
Not sure what to do here. I read this post from Mike Brock a couple days ago. I sounds like I should only be replaying for no credit if I were the 3rd or 4th player (i.e. the one making the table legal). I don't know if this means I need to back out, but it kind of sounds that way.
DM Rickmeister |
Oh...
Well, you're already in this one, so I'm not going to kick you out now.
Sounds mighty confusing to tell you the truth.
Lynthara |
Thanks! It was confusing to me too. The Guide itself is not entirely clear, but seems to indicate that replay for no credit is allowed with GM approval. In any event, I'm willing to finish out the game if you're cool keeping me in.
As I probably said before, my chronicle will have to be "blank" though - 0 GP, 0 Xp, 0 Prestige, and all chronicle loot crossed off.
DM Rickmeister |
Man, that is sucky.
I mean, not doing it to amass the wealth of the masses, I can understand, or to "powergame" your way up the ladder.
But it's not exactly grinding now is it? It's replaying something with a different character, for the sake of the story..
Horatius Lartius |
It may be that there are effects going on that provide for some of this but I believe the yeti used three standard actions in that round...
1. Frightful Gaze (Supernatural ability)
2. 2x claw attacks (Full attack)
3. Short spear attack (would need to draw it as a move/part of move so no full attack)
On the Grease topic I don't believe you can take a 5'step. Grease doesn't specifically state that it makes the area difficult terrain but does only allow you to move half your speed and then only with an acrobatics check. The 5' step rule says you can't take one if your movement is hampered by difficult terrain or darkness.
DM Rickmeister |
Well, the spear was already in his hand, so that one must be an oversight from me not telling you.
As for the gaze, I was confused myself. It says
Frightful Gaze (Su) Creatures within 30 feet that meet a yeti’s gaze must succeed at a DC 11 Will save or stand paralyzed in fear for 1 round. This is a mind-affecting fear paralysis effect. A creature that successfully saves cannot be affected again by the frightful gaze of that yeti for 1 day. The save DC is Charisma-based.
But it doesn't say anything about him being able to "turn it on" or "use it".
Edit: It's under "special attacks", so you are right.DM Rickmeister |
Yeah, being an utter rules lawyer, I would say that
>> http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/g/grease
and
>> http://www.d20pfsrd.com/alignment-description/movement
don't match, since grease doesn't say "Difficult terrain", like for example
>> http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/s/stone-call
However, I *feel* that the grease should be "difficult terrain AND acrobatics check".
What do you guys reckon?
Not that it will not impact the following round too much, so be sure to post your actions asap!
Horatius Lartius |
Did a bit more digging and am feeling my original thought on grease was wrong. Although your movement is impaired spaces don't cost double to move through and so it's not really difficult terrain in that sense. Therefore my new and improved thought is that you can 5' step but need to make the appropriate Acrobatics check.
This has a bit of discussion on it.
Back to the battle, so did he Gaze or start tearing Horatius's face off? :)
DM Rickmeister |
Okay, so he ripped, didn't gaze.
And acrobatically 5FSed away from Theor.
Nobody is paralyzed, except for Horatius :-P
DM Rickmeister |
I believe you'll find that fatigue does indeed stop raging, unless you have certain abilities.
Horatius Lartius |
I wanted to give you all a heads up that I'm going to be away from the 19th until the 25th or so and won't be able to post anything during that time. I should be back online the 26th but possibly earlier. I don't know where we'll be when I disappear but feel free to GM-PC me if necessary.
DM Rickmeister |
That's the downside of PFS.. Got the booklet on my pc, ain't getting near my pc, so need to wait to advance the story a little lads.
Will try to post the next room in the next 24 hours.
Theor Garess |
First chance to really get on and update. Looks like my wife can go home tomorrow, baby is still in NICU, probably through the week if not next week as well. So might not be able to post quite as many times daily, but will likely be able to start posting at least once a day again starting Mon
Lynthara |
Thanks for running GM! I had fun!
No purchases for me. And since I already have a sheet for this one, I get Zero gold, XP, and Prestige, as discussed earlier. Thanks again!

Horatius Lartius |
Thanks for the runs Lyn, hopefully get to do one again with you in the future.
No purchases at this point. I believe this sheet will level Horatius though (woot) so I'll update his profile once the sheets are out.
Leiff Gunnarson |
Laters Lyn! thnx for the game.
Leiff will replace his trusty fishing hook, sadly lost on the adventure. And he will purchase a climbing kit if his pocketchange allows it. Then he will break his head on how to get every thing in his backpack.
Basicly if the lewt is > 60 gp he'll buy these items.
DM Rickmeister |
Almost september, almost more free time.
Finishing up this AP and looking for the PDF of the new one.
I'll keep you posted.
Some questions to keep the interest flowing!

Did you enjoy it?
What were positive things?
What were negative things?
If you could, what would you have done differently?
Thaurux |
Let us know about the chronicle sheets.
My 2 cents.
Did you enjoy it?
It was OK, no fault to anyone at all its just the nature of PBP at times, just not as fun as live session.
What were positive things?
Good group who want to RP.
What were negative things?
I think the module could been a fun one off live session, but it was a bit challenging as a PBP as there were two 3D encounters that were a bit too difficult to handle in this format. The flow of the story was hard to handle because we spread it over so long. The PBP ones are good for the RP scenarios. The scenario may have been more suitable for a higher level party as well.
If you could, what would you have done differently?
I felt like we made as good rolls as we could yet still took the full force of the avalanche with what felt like no alternative recourse. some options would have been good.
Thanks for DMing, it is always greatly appreciated.
DM Rickmeister |
OOps sorry, will do them tomorrow. Kinda fell of the planet for some time
DM Rickmeister |
Sorry guys, it has been a very stressy time and I have had very little time to spare. Working on the sheets now.
DM Rickmeister |
To speed things up a bit guys, make sure to roll for your jobs, and to give me a brief rundown
Bought x (cost 7 gp)
Sold y (gave me 2gp)
