If a player is controlling 2 entities on the field, say a character and his eidolon or animal companion or mount, but not specifically his eidolon, does he have to do all the actions for 1 entity first then all the actions for the other.
For example, could he move himself, then his eidolon...or animal companion or mount, but not specifically his eidolon into flanking positions then make both attacks with all the advantages of flanking or does he have to move one and attack then move the other and attack. Does it depend on whether or not the DM is making him roll separate initiatives?

Officially and technically, they always roll separate initiative, and the GM is in control of the eidolon/animal companion. In reality, very few GMs want to control a player's companion NPC, and let them do it. They should take their own turns just like you would for any other character.
But! There is nothing wrong with having one delay until they are at the same initiative, then doing a sequence like
1. Eidolon moves, then readies his standard for the PC to act
2. PC acts
3. Eidolon takes his readied action
Teamwork based PCs do this all the time.
In Mounted Combat, the character and mount are treated as a single unit using the rider's initiative and the mount's movement speed. Generally, if the mount moves, it and the rider can take a single attack; if the mount charges, it and the rider both attack with charge benefits (assuming they can both reach their target); if the mount doesn't move, they can both take their full actions. (This assumes the rider makes the appropriate Ride check to control the mount in combat and/or guide with knees to have both hands free, as needed.)
Does that make sense?

You could move your character with a move action, have him ready an action to attack when a flank is established, move the companion or summoned creature or whatever into a flank, which triggers the ready action and causes an attak, and then attack with the companion/summoned creature. This is legal because the series of actions is legal were you operating separately.
I've seen this done with enemies by a GM, and I don't see why it could not be done by you.

Magabeus |

You can tell your friend winks that The Great Rinaldo! and Miteke gave good examples. Yes, it is allowed as long as the actions could be done by readying and delaying.

Thanks guys. All great information. I'll have to try it out.

GM Hmm wrote:Three new mods and the Season 4 scenarios. Still for me a bargain. Soon I will have all the scenarios!Michael Eshleman wrote:In case you have not seen this humble bundle.^ Spreading the word. While not as sweet as previous deals, this still might be worth picking up.
Some quick things I noticed in here:
All the scenarios of Season 4
Some awesome modules
Rules source material for the Fauchard
Rules source material for Skinwalkers
You also get pdfs 25 maps, most useable in a range of scenarios. That seems pretty sweet.

GM Hmm |

Yeah, I often go through my PDF maps from humble bundles looking for maps that I can use in ‘mapless’ encounters. I’m going to be using one of them in an encounter that is coming up, actually.

Gummy, They'll be in your Humble Bundle library on Humble Bundle since they are from Dynamite and not Paizo specifically.

Magabeus |

I redeemed my stuff on paizo, but I don't see the comics or the maps and stuff. Am I missing something here?
Yes, these are direct downloads (or torrents) from the humble bundle site. If you click the "get your bundle" button in the mail you received and scroll down on the page you should see them.

GM Hmm |

Unless you got it as part of a subscription when it first came out.

Not really, I cherry pick my book purchases by designing a character and seeing what books need purchasing, and ever so slowly growing the collection that way.

That’s how most of us pick them. Still, I recommend Humble Bundle assorments too... They can expand your collection very inexpensively.

The last 3 Paizo Humble Bundles have helped me fill in my pdf collection, where I had only grabbed the hard copies of some books. Note at the $45 dollar level you get the minis and 4 comics which are hard copy/actual minis...all the other stuff is pdf.

You're on the right path! I see you've already posted in Gameplay, that's good. That will cause you to see when there are new posts on these boards. Keep an eye on the Recruitment thread for new posts there. GMs recruit for their games there, usually on a first-come-first-served basis. Some GMs hold spots in low-level scenarios specifically for newer players; keep an eye out for those in particular!

Welcome UlSkadi!
If you are new to play by post you probably want to read the Getting ready for PbP article
We are a friendly bunch, just ask your questions and we will try to answer them!

Don't worry about stumbling, and don't be afraid to ask questions in this thread. We've got a great community here, very helpful. Most people go out of their way to help newbies, and questions usually get multiple answers within an hour.

I think my Game is, officially, abandoned.
GM RePete has already been kind enough to take a poll and it looks like we still have 3 players with low tier characters interested.
Would someone be able to pick up the GMing duties? Maybe we can add some of the newcomers as well if Hall of the Flesh Eaters is new player friendly enough?
Or, since we only have 3 people still definitely interested should we players look for another game?

Magabeus |

Hall of the Flesh Eaters is not that new-player friendly. However if you are only new to play by post it should be no problem.
I hope you can find a replacement GM. I don't have room to pick it up at the moment.

This is a Gamesday Game if I read the title correct. If no one else picks it up by Wednesday I'll take it if you'll have me.

Heh... I was about to offer the same. Kind of on the fence since I am maringally ready, but it a fairly straight forward mod to set up and run.

Took over one of GM Aeon's games and it's about wrapped up now. Can't for the life of me remember who to email to get the thread transferred to me to close it out though.
If you are the GM for a play-by-post campaign but didn't start the thread, please email customer.service@paizo.com.
We need:
A link to your profile page (click on your name at the top where it says "Welcome, your name!"
A link to the gameplay and discussion threads for the campaigns you have inherited.
Just copy and paste these links from the address bar in your browser, please.

okay - I bought the latest humble bundle and got all the season 4 modules in my downloads... all good there...
but the other things all look like comic book issues and a couple of random modules... I don't see anything that look like map pdfs... how do you tell what's what without downloading it all? thx.

GM RePete |

I'm out of state now, so would be Friday night before I could get up and going.
I did just run this, and the maps link should still be active. If another GM runs it, feel free to steal my maps.

Out of curiosity, is the Seducer Witch banned because CHA as a casting stat is a no-no, or because sexy-time things are a no-no?

GM Hmm |

The banning of archetypes is a complex thing in PFS. There’s a number of reasons why archetypes may be disallowed.
- They don’t fit in with the Pathfinder Society Setting.
- Their flavor is evil. See Vivisectionist Alchemist.
- They’re slightly overpowered to the point of making the regular vanilla class irrelevant. See Primalist Bloodrager.
- They’re considered disruptive to regular play (see my beloved Songbound Curse! How glorious it would be for PbP! But it would cause problems at regular tables.... So no Songbound Curse for PFS.)
- They’re being held back for a chronicle boon.
My guess is that it’s being held back for adult content, but who knows... Maybe there’ll be a chronicle boon featuring it.

....My guess is that it’s being held back for adult content, but who knows... Maybe there’ll be a chronicle boon featuring it.
"Who so ever holds this boon must ensure all players (& GM) at the table accept the use of the above reference class archetype, are of sound mind and of right age (minimum 18 years)."
