Out of curiosity, is the Seducer Witch banned because CHA as a casting stat is a no-no, or because sexy-time things are a no-no?
"Whoever came up with that rule should be spanked!"

The banning of archetypes is a complex thing in PFS. There’s a number of reasons why archetypes may be disallowed.
- They don’t fit in with the Pathfinder Society Setting.
- Their flavor is evil. See Vivisectionist Alchemist.
- They’re slightly overpowered to the point of making the regular vanilla class irrelevant. See Primalist Bloodrager.
- They’re considered disruptive to regular play (see my beloved Songbound Curse! How glorious it would be for PbP! But it would cause problems at regular tables.... So no Songbound Curse for PFS.)
- They’re being held back for a chronicle boon.
My guess is that it’s being held back for adult content, but who knows... Maybe there’ll be a chronicle boon featuring it.
- You use a gun but aren't a gunslinger.

I didn't know this oracle curse. And I LOVE it!
However, I think that its ban was caused more because the curse is specified to be a "Merfolk curse". Since Merfolks aren't allowed into PFS, the curse isn't allowed as well, I guess.Magabeus |
Turmoil,
I think release order is the best experience, as number four pays hommage to the other ones. If you haven't experienced the others your players will miss the clues.

I can see that argument; there are a lot of neat nods and allusions in We B4. Having just run them in character order (4, 1, 2, 3) in a home game, though, getting to take your goblin from a baby to a chief is also a very fun way to experience it. I was thinking of running the set in PbP after Gameday as well, and that's the order I'll be doing it.
GM Hmm |
Don’t worry about the duplicates. It pays off in modules and scenarios alone. It paid off for me, and I get all scenarios as part of the Venture Flunky package...

so may I inquire what it takes to run a pathfinder game and be credited for it?
The Roleplaying Guild Guide will give you the basics, though you'll likely still have questions. And this is the place to get answers for them. But definitely start with the RGG.

so all I managed to see in the Roleplaying Guild Guide (through the down load that is) was a character sheet and couple different types of tracking sheets for inventory... is there something I am missing?
Sounds like you may not have the right file...here's the link to the latest guide:
Season 9 PFS Roleplaying Guild Guide
It's a free download and should give you the GM basics in Chapter 3...

so here's my first question, if I am running the game and qualify for the rewards from the adventure as a GM, is my (same)character able to play that module then? or is she bared from playing through that adventure then as a Character? for example say my Almut wants to play 'the Frostfur Captives' and I have GMed it.... is she disqualified from playing it, or is she able to.. even though she has gotten rewards from it??
Edit: also will another GM need to Sign the Chronicle sheet for her to legally have access to the rewards if i GM the game she would have access to them in? just trying to make sure it would be done fairly.. planing on taking some friends through 'We b4 Goblins' on Saturday to introduce them to Pathfinder, possibly run through the rest of the 'We be Goblins' series if they like it... but with this info i am seeing about gaining rewards it has me confuzzled...
Rei UlSkadi |
good to know, so i know not to apply those rewards unless I get some special boons permitting replays of those fun free RPG days scenarios, (those We be Goblin scenarios have me giggling) so I am debating... is it possible to decide not to receive the chronicle rewards? in order to play it for my players when my characters have all have the rewards? (just covering my bases ahead of times)
GM Sedoriku |
From the sounds of it, it sounds like you are more asking if GMing a scenario prevents you from playing it, which is a solid no. What TriOmegaZero said:so here's my first question, if I am running the game and qualify for the rewards from the adventure as a GM, is my (same)character able to play that module then? or is she bared from playing through that adventure then as a Character? for example say my Almut wants to play 'the Frostfur Captives' and I have GMed it.... is she disqualified from playing it, or is she able to.. even though she has gotten rewards from it??

No character may have more than one chronicle for the same adventure. So no, Almut cannot play that scenario unfortunately.
is true of course but this is assuming you have applied the GM credit to that specific character. For example if you applied it to Rei UlSkadi, Almut could play the scenario, assuming you haven't played it as a player yet.
Also I don't think you have to have another GM sign off on a character sheet if it's from a game you GMed.

Yeah, what they said. For example:
My oracle Corona played Portent's Peril and got credit for it during last year's PbP Gameday. For this year's PbP Gameday I ran the same scenario as a GM. Since it was my first time *running* the scenario I have the option of applying credit for it to any of my characters except for Corona, because she's already got the credit from when I experienced the scenario as a player.
The same would apply if I had happened to GM the scenario first instead of playing it first. I would have applied the GM credit to Corona but still have been able to play the scenario at a later date with a different character.
And GM Sedoriku is right, as far as I know when you GM a scenario you just fill out a chronicle sheet for yourself the same as you would for one of your players and then apply it to your character of choice.
Does that make sense? :)

ok this clears this up wonderfully all my worries have melted :P
edit: one last thing, and I think I will be good to go, I don't require a 'senior' GM or Venture captain to attend any events I run out of my home and report on when I am not seeking the fifth GM star correct?

★ --- ANNOUNCEMENT --- ★
Hey gang,
The Organized Play Foundation frowns on trading boons for cash or even gift certificates.
Also, RVC Bob Jonquet has been putting out warnings about a number of suspicious boon “traders”. If you get approached by any of the following about boon trades, please steer clear.
- Mark Wells
- Justin Cortez
- Bobthesmuggler
- Jedicortez
- Don Mega
- Jon Alan
- Anyone purporting to be from the Sci-Fi City Stores out of Florida — they have nothing to do with those organizations.
Thanks so much,
Hmm

thank you much Lyric. bows to midway in Lyrics direction and much appreciated info there Hmm!!!! I truly don't want to get mixed up in any Boon trading scams or what Paizo has labeled as a Scam.... besides i thought it was only boon for boon.....

Unfortunately, the person above tends to duplicate and trade the same boons over and over again to build their boon roster to then turn around and sell those boons on eBay or via private deals in PMs and such - often modifying dates, events numbers, and PFS #s, as well as removing trade notes, to obfuscate the sources/history. So it is an issue on multiple levels, sadly.

Another thing to note is that you CAN replay a scenario you would normally not be allowed to if you do not take a chronicle sheet.
Example:
1) You GMed and gave Almut the chronicles for WB4G
2) You played WB4G with Tumla and he got a chronicle.
3) You can now play WB4G for no chronicle.
Also remember the WB4G is a replayable scenario and you can play it as many times as you want and apply the chronicle to different first level characters. Same with WBG. So you should be able to get all your inner goblin needs taken care of.

Note that you can ONLY go for option 3 if that is to make a legal table and if the GM agrees. See pages 7 and 8 of the guide.

I've been staring at a couple of my boons from the PbP Gamedays trying to figure out if I already gave them away. I often give my boons away to my local group, and I think I forgot to delete one of them that I gave away and can't remember which one it was... or who I gave it to.

Howdy
Boon for Boon trades should be the only exchange.
Paizo has added "Not Intended For Sale. No Cash Value" to all new boons in an attempt to clear up any confusion in that regard going forward.
Boons should be marked "Originally Issued To: <PFSNUM>" when you get them.
For older boons, they should be marked "Traded To <pfsnum> on MM/DD/YYYY>" when traded, or "Given to <pfsnum> on MM/DD/YYYY>" if given away.
Or, if they are the newer boons with the trade boxes at the top, those boxes should be filled out if traded or given away.
It is highly suggested that online trades occur through the trade forum here on Paizo so there is a record of it.
If you get PMs from individuals and they insist on doing things "off the books" it is probably correct to assume they are not legit.
If you ever feel like a trade needs to be examined before it goes through, we will also be happy to function as a VO boon escrow service of sorts too - just let us know.
If you ever have any questions feel free to drop us a line any time and we'll do our best to help keep things on the up-and-up.

Thanks for the help! I was indeed able to create a campaign in Edge. And as an added bonus, I got a reminder why I don't use that browser in the first place.

I have a level 1 CORE fighter that I'm thinking of converting to a "regular" fighter so that I can take advantage of some of the rules in the recent Weapon/Armor-Master's Handbooks.
I don't think I need to do anything special, right? Since she's level 1, I can just rebuild her for free, and I don't need to do anything else special to play her in Classic versions of scenarios, right?
Is there any particular record-keeping that needs to be done to note the change?

Nope, nothing special, just start playing it in classic.
