Thanks Redelia! Unfortunately I won't have the bandwidth until after the Gameday, so I'll have to withdraw my interest. Good luck y'all :)

Honestly, I don't mind waiting until then. If people are cool with it, I'll start then.

I think I would prefer to wait until then, also, if you don't mind.

I've only GM'ed once and I'd be interested, especially since y'all are waiting till after Gameday...is there room for one more?

Question from left field here.
I'm currently making a Half-Orc Bloodrager with the Aberrant Bloodline. He's a pirate, and I'd like to flavor him as having small, vestigial tentacles and rubbery, eel like skin as a result of his bloodline. Think Davey Jones.
That said, what are the rules, if any, on flavoring characters? He's got crap CHA so it would fit.

@ Redelia, Chris Marsh et al --
I might be talked into being a second GM for that holiday run, or just watching as an onlooker, particularly if you guys are looking for a fast game!
@ Justice Flame --
I could see it as good flavor with no mechanical benefit. So long as it stays cosmetic, no issue.
However... Have you thought about dipping alchemist on this character? Alchemist / Bloodrager crossing is surprisingly good for melee. The Beastmorph mutagens are flavored as having you erupt with scales, feathers, and other odd animal parts. Plus as an alchemist you could get tentacle discoveries, plus a ton of other gross stuff.
I have a bloodrager / alchemist mix in a home game of Rise of the Runelords that I simply love. Eddy has picked almost all of his discoveries by how gross they are. I've never done this with a character before, but it works great and has been just hilarious.

As best as I understand it, PFS has a 'no reskinning' rule but it's basically aimed at preventing people from taking one thing that exists (has stats/mechanics/etc.) and trying to say that it's something else (which has different stats/mechanics/etc.) entirely. In your case, it would just be a purely cosmetic thing with no changes to the actual nuts and bolts of your character so I don't see why you couldn't say your aberrant heritage manifests itself in that manner :)

Thanks for the response! He very well may end up going the path of Alchemist, but for now as a PFS character he has to start at level 1, and that's his level 1.
I didn't intend to have any mechanical effect from them of any kind, I just wanted to know if it's alright having a little bit of zany character flavor coming from the "bizarre and alien and tentacles" bloodline. I know PFS has to follow rules fairly strictly.

I'm pretty sure that sorcerer/bloodrager bloodlines explicitly include minor cosmetic manifestations. I know that Legacy of Dragons had some specific examples that a Draconic bloodline character might have.

If there is still space available, I would love to hop into the 'GM mentor and model' program to pick up some tips.
GM Sedoriku
I am going to assume the mentor program has filled completely, dangit. I'd been hoping one was going to open up after GameDay. Is there a possibility of getting a second group together with enough interest?
GM DevilDoc
I have been considering running a table for some of the new people around here, and with all of the new GM's I have considered something akin to GM Hmm's GM101 run from a while back. However, with Gameday going, I am at my max bandwidth.
Let me talk to GM Hmm and see what she did, though I like your idea as well, GM Redelia. Whatever I do though, will not be until after GD has concluded!
GM Hmm
Let's stick with one coordinator for this project and split the GM players. I am willing to be a second GM for you guys during the holidays. Pick the scenario and I'll give you guys whatever you want so long as I haven't already done it in PBP.
Hmm
GM DevilDoc
Sounds good to me. I wasn't trying to steal anyone's thunder, just trying to help.
GM Hmm
I have never run True Dragons, but I have recently had it confirmed by Tonya that I can run True Dragons as 4 Star with the Venture Lieutenant Upgrade. We'll want a full table of six, which should not be a problem with the popularity of that scenario. Let's go with it if Chris Marsh also agrees. I'd like both tables running the same thing.
★ ---- ★ ---- ★ ---- ★
It'll be a good one to discuss with a GM group because it has:
- Special mechanics!
- Weird pregens!
- Dungeons -- Though it is YOUR dungeon, not someone elses...
This will be fun.
Sounds good to me. I wasn't trying to steal anyone's thunder, just trying to help.
You're not stealing anyone's thunder. The more GMs helping each other out, the better!

PFS does have a "no reskinning" rule, but it only applies to reskinning something that exists into something else that exists-- especially going from something you have access to to something you don't. You can't, for example, play a rogue who wields "kukris" that are actually daggers (even if you treat them like daggers in every way). But since vestigial tentacle-feelers don't exist mechanically, it's legit.

I've set up a spreadsheet for recruitment for the GM mentoring games to start after gameday. It can be found here. I've listed those of you who have expressed interest, and there are still several slots. I also left waitlist slots. Once we confirm the GMs and scenario, we will worry about filling in more than just names. If I put you on the list, feel free to adjust your name if desired.
GM Hmm
I'll have to back out then... I've played true dragons I think... that's the pregen kobolds right?
edit: yup... just confirmed I have played it.
Yep, kobold pregens.

Gee.. I wonder why HMM is a famous GM with player queue forming at every slight chance for a game xD
If you ever figure it out, tell me. I'm still not quite sure why I have the reputation that I do, when there's so many other stellar PBP GMs out there. Maybe people really like the Red Mask!
Or filk. Maybe they like the filk.

It's because you're "THE Hillary!"
When I met Hmm at PaizoCon, she introduced herself simply as Hillary. I may have embarrassed her by responding, "Wait, are you THE Hillary?!!"
I'm thinking I'd like to start GMing PBP in the near future, but I'm already in the queue for one of GM Granta's GM101 games, and I've already played True Dragons.

Thanks for coordinating this, Redelia.
We've made several different attempts at GM school formats, each one different with its own problems and advantages. I think we're going to keep experimenting until we can figure out one that works.
One thing that you should all know is that I am still learning. It feels like I am constantly figuring out how to improve, or adapting cool stuff that I see other GMs do. When I had Tyrannius and Turmoil step in as backups for me to cover sickness and convention breaks, both did things during combat that I learned from. It is fun to take notes on GMs that have different styles and schticks from yours because they offer a different perspective.

This works for players too! My posting style is an amalgam of different techniques I've picked up from other players. There are a lot of really great players on these boards to learn from.

Thank you for coordinating (and the original idea for) all of this Redelia!
I just noticed that my name was on that list twice, so I just removed one of them leaving an empty spot for someone else :)

I'm happy to also run True Dragons.
That being said... it's SO outside the norm, that you wouldn't get as much of the normal skills set. There's different skill set with something like that.

This is not exactly intending to replace GM school. I see GM school as happening before people GM at all. This is more of an 'advanced beginner' course for those who have GMed a bit, but want to improve. I think both levels of training are important if we want many quality GMs.

^Less of a 'how do I set up my campaign/maps/etc.' and more of a 'show me how to write good push posts and set a nice posting pace' sort of thing, right? I dig it :)

It is a bit outside the norm, but I think we could still cover the normal advanced skills: pushes, hooks, pacing. The fact that there is a dungeon in here is also interesting, since dungeons suck in PBP. Dealling with them is a challenge all in itself.
Um, do we want to have one joint discussion thread for this? Or two?
Hmm
GM Redelia
Perhaps I should set up a 'campaign' for the project? The gameplay of it can be used for announcements and things like that, the discussion to set up who plays in which game. Not only the new GMs can dot in, but also the master GMs who are running games for us, or who might run a game for us in the future.

I just read HMM's blog post about PbP and it's something I'd really like to try. The linked campaigns which were reserving spots for new players seemed to have been filled pretty quickly.
I thought I'd stop off here and see if any new-player-friendly sessions were starting up.

Well, not just in response to your request PaleDim, but I just listed a CORE version of Master of the Fallen Fortress.
You can click the sign-up sheet to reserve your spot.

Added my name in the first waiting-list spot on Master of the Fallen Fortress, but if a newbie (like PaleDim) wants in I'll gladly give up my spot.
On the waitlist. Thanks!
GM Doom 'n Gloom
That filled up fast. I have a PM out to the reserved players. That is a great offer Sodium. If I don't hear back by Monday evening, I'll give the first open slot to PaleDim. Two openings and you're both in.
