Vakkler Relkav |
Hey, Vakkler, you want to search the students? It seems like the sort of thing he'd do...:)
That's a good idea.
Vakkler stands by the portal, holding his tiny crossbow in a vaguely threatening manner. He glares at each student as he checks for smuggled items."A horn of plenty? I think NOT!" Vakkler adds the item to the pile.
"Sunrods? HA!"
Vakkler yanks a full bag of holding away from Bradley. "What are you, a gnome?"
"A bedroll? NEVER!"
"An orange? AS IF!"
"A teleportation amulet? NICE TRY!"
"But you just handed it to me!" a confused student protests.
Vakkler pauses. Grumbling, he gives the amulet back and allows the boy through the portal.
"NEXT!"

On an unrelated note, doesn't it stink where you make a post and accidentally kill the discussion?
lol. Sorry about that. I was supposed to come back last night and give the descriptive post of the island, but I ended up falling asleep instead. Something about a two day long migraine I'd been trying to pretend wasn't there. Updating now. :)
Also, Vakkler's post made me laugh. That was just perfect. :)

The students come out of the portal onto a rocky beach. There is a stiff wind blowing across the rocks and it is quite chilly. The water crashing against the rocks is grey and turbulent. Ahead of them is a thick forest. Most of the trees are huge conifers, but the undergrowth is composed of ferns that are taller than most students. In the distance a very large avian can be seen circling. Strange chittering noises can be heard from the forest and in the distance a column of water suddenly shoots into the sky as a geyser erupts.
Nala Zamarosok |
Nala sat in the back of the auditorium and watched all the other kids head out on the field trip. Ever since she'd been forced to let her thralls loose none of them had even acknowledged her. It was like being constantly invisible.
Since this was an extracurricular activity she was left here in the school all by herself. Well, for the most part. As the last few students went through the portal she left the auditorium and went to go see EJ. At least he was still talking to her. She knocked on the door of his room and poked her head in.
"Hey, it's me."
Eldritch Jello |
The giant jello mold had been practicing his forms and figuring out what these 'music' and 'singing' things were. These were puzzles that the one biped with the mutable shape left. EJ'd had few or no visitors so he'd had plenty of time to research both, sending tendrils of himself through the pipes - listening and learning.
The knock on his door sounded strange - the light pressure wave causing an interesting microscopic rippling effect on his surface.
:: Hullo, Nala. How are you today? ::
Asch Redgrave |
"Well we might as well get this started." Asch says as he takes a miniature chest out of his pocket and concentrates on it as another larger chest appears next to him. He opens it and pulls out his caster and pair of daggers that he hands to Amada along with extra casting implements. "When we get further inland me and Amada have a surprise that will take care of food and shelter." He says mischievously as he makes the chest disappear again .
Asch Redgrave |
He made it through the search since it is technically just a casting implement that fit inside his pocket per the rules for the field trip. Then he used it to get more equipment no rules were broken or anything. Of course if Vakkler wants to find it and ask about it Asch will go through the explanation. IC :)
Also I assumed he made it through since Vakkler never said anything to Asch.... sorry about that.
Kamenwati |
Kam is already halfway up a tree by the time Asch puts away his chest, leaving claw marks in the bark behind him as he climbs higher. Once he gets as high as he can he looks around at the surrounding island.
"That almost sounds like cheating, Asch." He calls from high above. "I think we can handle hunting between all of us. It is an island too so we can fish."

This is that Secret/Hidden Chest spell, yes? It's effectively a portable hole, full of items already places within. So while the chest might not be illegal, using it would be.
Db3, where are you in our RotR game?Asch Redgrave |

Just Retcon having Vakkler find it on him. Asch will still have his prepared spells and revolvers....good thing Asch never carries bullets with him and uses shadow bullets made from his shadow assassin ability, Amada will just have her prepared spells and her Caster and shells.
Asch Redgrave |
I'd think that since everyone is supposed to be here for a few days they'd allow you your spellbook.
Possibly but it was in my secret chest spell :) as well as my caster and shells. Though if Asch does a good enough diplomacy against Vakkler we'll see what all Asch has. At the moment I'm going to say he has both his guns and what ever spells he has prepared.
Asch Redgrave |
Nah, retconning isn't necessary. I messed up, no need to change things. Vakkler being distracted is fine with me.
You sure? I really didn't mean to ignore Vakkler's search I just though that since you didn't mention Asch that he made it through with no problem....

Yeah, but thanks for offering. I don't want to hold things up.

"Well, I was feeling a little lonely since most of the students have left to go on a field trip. But then I remembered that I hadn't come and talked to you in a while and I thought it might be a good time to catch up. I'd really like to hear about how you've been doing. Are your studies going well?"
Nasima Shearskye |
*gasps*
"Oh you guys it's so beautiful here, hahahaaa!! Feel that terrific wind! What a beauty you are, aren't you pal?!" Nasima dashes over to an outcropping and leans into the wind, which suddenly swirls and focuses on her before starting to bat her around in the air. She giggles madly. "Whheeeeeeeeeee! Hahahaaaa! This is as fun as a cyclone! It's not as fast but I don't get as dizzy! Yayyy!" She's actually achieving a bit of altitude as the wind focuses on shoving her higher and higher into the air, which only makes her laugh louder. "You guys should totally try this! It's a gas!"
Perhaps the large flying thing is getting closer, perhaps it's a trick of the light.
Ephebe |
Ephebe looks longingly at the sky where her friends were enjoying themselves. But there were too many other students still on the beach. She couldn't let them see her true form. Not yet anyways. A little at a time was a lot easier to say than to do.
She kept a wary eye on the large avian circling in the distance but so far it seemed to limit itself to the center of the island.
Kamenwati |
Kamenwati starts pumping his wings hard so he can fly even higher, gaining altitude fast as he soars. Hundreds of feet in the air his form gets smaller, and as he starts to come closer to the ground people can see that he's closed his wings and is now free falling.
He looks happy.
Moments before it's too late, his wings snap open with a crack like thunder and he lands softly on the sand.
"It's been so long since I've enjoyed having these wings, I forgot what it was like to feel the wind all around me. I've got to find out which teacher was responsible for this trip and thank them when we get back on Monday."
Jiminy, Prankster of the Future |
"mmm. Probably. It looks nice up there. Too bad there's so many people around."
"Ah well. Guess it's time to find a campsite or some such, eh?" he said with a just slightly too cheerful smile. "Daylight's wasting."
Krays |
Krays sees the flying going on and gets a look of joy as he watches the others fly. He reaches into his puch for some spell components, then remembers dragon forms were a no-no. He sighs, and returns components to his pouch, moving forward with Jimmy to find a campsite
Ephebe |
"Well, I guess the logical thing would be to find a spot in the forest. More likely to be protected from the elements. And I don't know if you guys have noticed but there seem to be some less than friendly ocean wildlife watching us. See those seals over there? I don't think they're supposed to have fangs."
Fei, of the Sun Soul |
Fei quietly stands off to the side, contemplating the foreign surroundings as the campsite discussion begins.
Asch Redgrave |
"I'd say that qualifies for weird." Asch says as he looks over at the seals. As he squints against the sunlight he sighs and slips a pair of dark sunglasses on. "Oh ok yea I see now. Yep last I heard they don't normally have fangs."
Fei, of the Sun Soul |
"Perhaps we should make our way to the treeline so as not to provoke them," Fei finally chimes in. "If these beaches are their territory, they may consider us a challenge to their presence here..."
Asch Redgrave |
"Those are bunyip." Taron says, giving the name for the fanged seals. "Legend has they're delicious, but they're way too fierce for most people to even think about trying to catch one to eat."
3,300th post!
"Delicious huh? Well we do need to eat don't we?" Asch asks looking over his shoulder at the rest of the group.
Taron Sunwake |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
"We're here to survive, not play Big Game Hunter. Besides, I doubt any of us could bring one down before our amulets kick in and we find ourselves back in school. Let's leave them alone and find a place to camp with plenty of food before nightfall. I think most of us can see in the dark, but that doesn't mean I won't want a fire to keep away whatever predators are on this island."
Why do I get the feeling we're in Avalon's "Danger Room"?
Asch Redgrave |
"Ouch when you said most I thought you meant normal people." Asch says as he starts to head towards the forest. "Well we ready then." He says as he stops waiting for the rest of the group. "If those are here...I wonder what else is on this island..."
