The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

After spending more time than he expected breaking down the pavilion and storing everything, Fei then moves on to his work study duties restocking the rest of the Materials and Supplies building. The late hours have a palpable result, unfortunately, as Fei wakes up late - and misses the 'sunrise'.

When he realizes the time, he quickly dresses and races out to the green near the cafeteria to perform his katas before the light gets any further past him. In his haste, he fails to remember the fact that breakfast is being served, and there are actually people awake now... (^.^)

Ephebe blushes and smiles. "Thanks, I think."

"Well, I guess it's time to get to class," she said reluctantly. "I can't say I'm really excited about Advanced PE this morning. Mom does weird stuff when she's nervous."

"Oh, sure, laugh," she said testily to Taron, "you missed the fireworks after you and Kam took off. Half the reason I came after you was self preservation," she teased.

"Do not tell me that," she said, morosely. "I have to join your class now that Jiminy is actually going to be showing up like he's supposed to....at least he will be once I drag him there myself..."

Okay...time for a little fast forward I think....next out of the ordinary incident I have in mind is a minor one and occurs on the way to mathemagics class after lunch...feel free to describe any classes before or after that including any after school activities such as sports, band practice, etc....no combats today unless you start a fight with a fellow student. After all the school can't be chaotic all of the time. :)

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Aside from a particularly bad morning practice session in Mom's class it had been a surprisingly uneventful day. No one had tried to poison her at lunch, or otherwise kill her in any way at all. It made for a nice change. She was on her way to Mathmagics with 'Sima when she had to stifle a giggle at the sight of a totally bald werewolf stalking past. Unfortunately she didn't stifle it fast enough and Jeran saw. He growled and lashed out with his claws ripping the bottom out of her bookbag and kicking her stuff all over the hall. She went dashing after scattered papers, just barely retrieved her toe shoes from the drinking fountain before they got soaked and tried to keep the pile contained as she jumped up to retrieve her tights from where they were dangling off the top of a random locker. Jeran laughed and she gritted her teeth. If she were stronger she'd deck him for that. Instead she made several awkward attempts to scoop up her pile of books, papers, pencils, and ballet costume before she managed to get it all and stagger on her way to class.

Male Kobold Expert 6/Slayer 8

Vakkler notices Ephebe picking up her things, and shakes his head. "Hard to believe she is what she is," he murmurs. "Aren't they supposed to be graceful?"

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

After a nice relaxing mathemagics class, she was feeling considerably better as she headed off to dance class. It was the only class she had all day where she didn't have any of her protectors with her, which was a bit risky, but she didn't doubt that they had arranged for someone to be watching her by crystal or mirror just to be safe. She happily warmed up with the rest of the class careful to match her movements to the others exactly. It had been four months since she had last danced. A fact that the always cranky dance instructor wasted no time in chewing her out for. She didn't mind. Madame Irena was always like that. It was reassuring. When Madame Irena asked her to demonstrate a series of steps she felt butterflies in her stomach, but then she took a deep breath and all of it faded away. For just a few moments it was just her and the dance.
Perform check: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (5) + 19 = 24
It was a particularly poor performance for her and she definitely deserved to get whapped with Madame's cane, which she did several times. She definitely needed more practice.

By lunchtime Fieri was ready to pull her hair out. Trying to keep tabs on Jiminy was like trying to herd phoenix. Dumb birds. Dumb Jiminy who won't do what was best for him no matter what. She sent notes to the other members of 'Eldritch Jello' to see if they were available for practice later. She could definitely use the break.

One bald werewolf. Check. One declawed weretiger. Double check. One wererate with a bad case of hives. Check. One werewolf's room glued into reverse gravity position for taking out his anger on Pheebs. Check. All of that and he'd actually gone to class. Think of all the mischief he could have done if he'd been free to follow his usual schedule. He sighed. Fieri could be such a stick in the mud sometimes.

Unless anyone else has a plot point they want to hit, will advance the story by four days. For those four days things stay relatively calm, classes are attended, routine is established, and the Hunters stay in hiding trying to evade capture. Ephebe continues to room with Nasima, and Jiminy rotates rooms since no one can seem to stand him for more than one night at a time. (shortsheeting your friends...maybe not the best way to endear yourself) If there's something in particular you want to do within that time, narrate a little bit about it and then we'll take up the action again at the end of the week as a field trip is being planned.

Aleister stands as impassive as a statue while students filter into the room. Aislin standing next to him preparing for class. "Today were going to teach you how to defend against an armed opponent when you are unarmed. First is you." He says as he points with Rinth at a large muscle bound human. "Oh and your opponent is my wife."

The student stupidly grins to himself thinking how easy this would be. So he rushes swinging his sword blindly only to find himself flying through the air to land painfully on his back with Aislin standing calmly hands positioned on top of the blades pommel point on the ground.

"Alright whose next?" He says simply.

Anyone who wants to be in this class just post :)

Jiminy slouched in the back of the class grinning as he watched Bradley the Boldly Idiotic get trounced by a girl. Again. Today. He didn't volunteer though. He was only in this class cause Mom said he wasn't allowed to have free periods anymore due to the 'security risk' and this was the least heinous option available during this time slot.

Male Kobold Expert 6/Slayer 8

Sorry, Sinh. Bradley the Boldly Idiotic is my new favorite character.

Aleister watches as Bradley misses another strike and gets hit again by Aislin. "Come here." He says with a sigh. |He's fairly pathetic isn't he?| "You charge when you should wait you think your muscles will help you in a fight but your mind is your true weapon."

"Are you trying to say I'm an idiot! Your using your wife for this because you aren't able to fight aren't you?" Bradley the Boldly Idiotic says getting angry thinking he had just been insulted.

|I stand corrected he is not pathetic he is a complete moron.| Aleister stands still for a moment his face blank as he silently picks up a practice blade and settles into an easy stance leaving himself completely open to an attack. Which he stupidly takes only to have the blade caught by Aleister's hand. He then slams his own blade down on Bradley's collarbone there is a loud crack and the boy stands there stunned. His eyes refocus just in time to see Aleister's fist smash into the side of his face. "That is why you are fighting her and not me, because I have problems holding back."

|Impressive...though it would have been better if you'd killed him.|

If you've read the night angel series Aleister is a 'little' bit like Durzo in that you'll never know he is angry when fighting until your laying on the ground. There's a reason Asch says Aleister is insane.

*applauds slowly*

"Bradley usually makes it halfway through a class before someone knocks him out. First five minutes. Very impressive." He grinned impishly.

I've read those books! Great story!

Bradley's long-suffering sister, Ursula, sighed and dragged his unconscious body out of the way. She was used to it. She glared when one of the other students suggested that she should take Bradley to the infirmary.

"No. If I take him to the infirmary they'll just heal him and then he'll do it again in five minutes. This way there is a small chance he might learn something. Or at least that I'll be able to get through a class in peace," she snapped. She really wished her idiot brother would stop charging in where angels fear to tread. Or at least that he weren't so very bad at it.

Well, not everyone can be as awesome as you. ;P

Bradley can be very powerful, but well...this is what happens when you use BOTH Wis and Int as dump stats. ;)

A notice is put up on the bulletin boards and delivered to all of the student rooms.

This weekend there will be a field trip. We will be departing on Friday evening and returning on Monday morning. The location is secret for now, but it is secluded and the goal of the exercise will be survival. You will be working with your fellow students not against them. Each of you will be given a charm that will transport you back to school in case of serious injury, but most of you are expected to last the entire weekend. You'll be camping outdoors so dress accordingly. Don't bother to pack. You'll also be expected to fend for yourselves using only what you can find. Good luck and have fun.

Kamenwati reads the notice carefully. How long had it been since he'd been outside of civilization and on his own, running from his past? A couple years, surely. He'd been so scared that he hadn't enjoyed the world he was traveling through, and he hadn't been outside the wards for fear of being tracked down.

"I hope nothing messes this up."

"Do they want us to leave weapons behind as well?" Asch asks at breakfast as he reads the bulletin.

"Please tell me you're kidding. Seriously, dude, read the notice. It's a test of survival...they're not gonna hand all the unarmed combat specs a huge advantage like that. At least I hope not. That would be so uncool."

"What, you mean like, without beds and spell components and cooking utensils and stuff? ...Oh,no! How are we gonna keep Jiminy, Ephebe, and Taron fed for a whole weekend with no cafeteria?????!!!"

"I hate camping..."

"Well it does say to not pack anything that's why I ask. Who knows what the teachers are planning" He says back to Jiminy. "Anyway even if they won't let us take anything I will still be armed." He says as a smoky blade slides out of his hand and then swirls away like smoke when he releases the energy.

A tiny fanged frog hops by. There's a little backpack strapped to its back.
No, Slarrow isn't going. No, this has nothing to do with the plot.

"Cool. Yeah, they'll probably put up a clarification by this afternoon. I bet a lot of kids are asking that same question."

"Personally, I never need to pack," he added with an impish grin.

Taron looks up from memorizing a survival cookbook long to contemplate how to roast a firebird, but discards the idea. Fly Free doesn't need the accusation of assassinating it's competition.

"Create food and Water!" he says cheerfully.

Nasima grins at Krays. "Yeah! Create water!" Her hair fans out behind her as she makes a twirling motion with her hand and a bunch of tiny little storm clouds begin to gather over the breakfast table. There is a tiny little boom of thunder and a small lightning bolt zaps out and chars the table. It begins to rain.

"Ack! Oops! Sorry guys! I'm new to this, this wasn't supposed to work this well. Just learning this stuff. Ugh. Hang on, hang on..." More twirling motions, some commands in Auran, and the storm goes away, to be replaced by a mass of tiny winds to dry everyone off. Nasima looks sheepishly around at her now-rumpled friends and appears ready to crawl under the table and die of embarrassment. "Oh skies and suns you guys I am sooooo sorrrrrrryyyy!"

Curiously enough, he is the only one who doesn't look 'rumpled' after the wind treatment.

Ephebe laughed.

"Oh, 'Sima, it's okay. Don't worry about it. It's just water...and a miniature storm? Honestly, that's pretty cool."

An addendum to the notice is added later on that day clarifying the restrictions on equipment. Each student is allowed to take one to two weapons depending on how many they typically wield at one time, but no backup weapons. Spellcasters are allowed to bring material components that will fit either in pockets or one small belt pouch and searches will be conducted to make sure no one is trying to bring any contraband. Students are encouraged to dress practically for the outdoors including a jacket as the field trip destination is not climate controlled.

"So now that the crisis of feeding three portable holes is mostly solved, are we all going to be in a group or do you guys want to see if you can handle the camping trip in smaller numbers?"

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

"I'd say since there is still that one issue going on I'd say it would be best to keep together." Asch says as he lays his guns and caster on the table pondering over two guns or one gun and a caster. He then gets a mischievous grin deciding how he was going to bring both guns and his caster along with shells and not be breaking the rules.

"I agree with Asch. One big group is probably safest. At least at night. But there's no reason we can't break into smaller groups during the day."

On Friday the whole school was buzzing with activity as students prepared for the upcoming field trip. After dinner the whole student body headed into the auditorium where it was announced that the location was an island, one that no one from the rest of the world ever visited, so they would have the place to themselves. They were instructed to form a line and each student would be searched for contraband and handed an amulet that could be used to bring them back in the case of serious injury or illness. It was reiterated that the students were to work together and that the only goal was for them to survive on the island until Monday morning. Once the students were checked and given their amulet they were sent through a portal.

.....hmmmm those rolls weren't as good as I was hoping well just in case its found out Asch is actually carrying both guns and the caster and all its shells are in his secret chest......

Once checked and found to have nothing more than a crossbow and bolts, Kam practically ran through the portal. Taron, shaking his head, follows him.

With an unexpected exception, these will be my only characters for the field trip.

hooray for spell component pouches of holding

Hey, Vakkler, you want to search the students? It seems like the sort of thing he'd do...:)

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Apologies for the sudden disappearance. I got a bit blindsided by my son's school as they sent a report relevant to this afternoon's IEP meeting late last night and it was very long. Rage. So much rage. Anyhow, I'm going to be dealing with this unpleasant situation for the rest of today so I will only be intermittently available. If Vakkler or Ryo want to conduct student searches that would be great and I should be able to put up a description of the island later tonight.
