"I'll be doing the spell as conjury is one of my specialties. Also I can only take four people." She waits until Taron imparts the location and she gathers the four who will be going with her and begins casting her spell at the same time as Asch begins his casting for three others.
With a swirl of magic and the possibility for extreme motion sickness, the teleportation works and everyone is standing a few yards away from a cave that goes into the side of a very large hill. Taron goes in immediately.
Ephebe scrambles after him, not really able to keep up.
Asch draws his caster with a chain lightning shell loaded.
"So...he was not in the air when his amulet sent him back?" Fei asks as he follows the others into the cave, casting his gaze skyward briefly before the hill blocks the view.
Amada's hands fly up to her face as she realizes she left the bear by itself making it think it had been abandoned. She quickly begins another spell and whispers soothing words to him. And informs him of where she is even though she knows he can't respond.
"So...he was not in the air when his amulet sent him back?" Fei asks as he follows the others into the cave, casting his gaze skyward briefly before the hill blocks the view.
"No." Taron says as he creates a flare for the darkvision-impaired. "He had to be inside to tell if it was occupied. I all got before the amulet activated was a lot of confusion and fear."
The group reaches the end of the cave, and even after making sure none of the walls are false, there is nothing found. The only footprints found belong to Kamenwati.
"Ephebe..?" Taron asks hpoefully.
"Who are you and why are you here?" The man asks. He seems faintly familiar.
"I'm Kamenwati, a student from Avalon. I'm here as part of a survival exercise."[/i] Kam's says slowly, confused. It looks like he's trying to figure out where he's seen this man before.[/i]
"Kamenwati? Interesting. Your mother wouldn't happen to be a priestess named Lillith, would she?" The man replies with a strange grin.
This is when fear is mixed in with the confusion on Kamenwati's face, and he takes a shaky step back before he he turns and runs back into the cave, fumbling for his amulet. He manages to get it to work before he turns the first corner. The man goes after him, but leaves when he can't find him. A few minutes later Taron and everyone else show up...
Ephebe's eyes glow gold for a moment and then her gaze returns to the present.
"There was a man here. I don't think he was a very nice man. He knew Kam's mother...that's why Kam ran away and activated his amulet."
She shared the image of the man's face with the others.
"You want me to cast Discern Location on this guy? It'll take me a few minutes to cast it, but short of direct interference by a deity it'll tell me where he is."
"Find him." Taron says, eyes glowing dark purple. "We can't leave anyone like his mother alone to try and take him back there."

Ephebe nodded and began casting the spell, the hourglass on her necklace flipping over and over as she worked the magic. After several minutes the spell came to an end and she looked for the location of the mystery man.
"He's in the center of the island. It looked like he was sitting and meditating. He was in the very center of the caldera of a currently at least dormant volcano on an island in the middle of a lake. There's lots of steam vents so he's hard to see through the mist. I didn't see any of those large avian creatures. I think their roosting spots are farther down the mountain."
"Steam, huh? That means we don't have to hold back and worry about being seen." Taron states as he mentally goes through what he can do in both of his forms. "Can we get past the avians without them knowing? Things will go easier if he doesn't have a warning."
"If they are susceptible to her magic, perhaps Amada could charm them? Or cloak us from them somehow?"
"Another question how far are we from his hideaway?" Asch asks as he goes through which shells he has with him.
"I'm not sure how far we are exactly. Several miles. If we can teleport there we won't have to worry about the avians. I got the distinct impression that they didn't go up as high as the steam vents. I can show you a picture of the area if you need."
"I think we can do it one more time." Asch says as he waits for the image to be shown to him and then Asch and Amada cast their teleport spells.
"I'm glad it's going well. Most human children take many years to learn all the things you have in such a short time. You learn very well. It sounds like you really enjoy music. I hear you're part of a band. Is that fun?"
EJ slumps, like a deflated cake.
:: I have not seen any people from the band so I don't know if I am in it or not. The mutable boy never told me what 'rock' is... so I am trying to learn about that. It is slow. ::
She looked around the room curiously. "I would have brought something for you, but I didn't know what you like. What's your favorite food?"
EJ quivers.

I thought it was for a restaurant, but it was for a 'spa'. The dead skin cells produced by 'facials' and 'exfoliants' sound tasty. Sorry if that offends. ::

"Well, since they named the band after you, I'm pretty sure you're in it. They've only had a couple of rehearsals though, so maybe they're just letting you have a chance to learn about music first. Maybe you can show me what you have learned."
She blinked a few times as he described his idea of good food. Then she laughed. "Well, it sounds pretty disgusting to me, but I'm not an ooze. I'll see what I can do."
"Looks nice and comfy." Asch quips as the teleport sickness wears off quickly. His eyes begin to glow red as he checks for any magic auras.

"The mist takes some getting used to, I admit, but it's quite up here. Who are you and why are you here?" A male voice calls out from the direction of the aura.
Ephebe's eyes take on a draconic appearance as she scans the area around her with detect evil.
"There is a magic aura about one hundred feet that way universal aura. Same as the voice." Asch whispers.
Asch finds one, glowing faintly some hundred feet away.
"The mist takes some getting used to, I admit, but it's quite up here. Who are you and why are you here?" A male voice calls out from the direction of the aura.
"Funny. That was our question for you. Your behavior towards Kam wasn't exactly what you'd call endearing," Jiminy said, sounding slightly bored.

"Consider us the advance interview. If we don't like what you have to say, you don't get to talk to him again. Ever. He's family, and that's all you need to know."
"Now, why would you need to talk to Kam? And make it a very interesting explanation because I get bored easily and then I'm liable to entertain my self." Asch says as he continues to study the aura of magic.
She frowns. ::I'm not getting a read on any evil. I don't know if that means he's not evil or he's hiding his affinity for it.::

"Family? Interesting. You're the same age as him, so Lillith didn't have anymore children. Perhaps she adopted? No, she wasn't really the type for that, though she would have taken care of you at the temple.. Could you explain your relation to him?"
"I don't think you need to know that." Taron growls as the man walks into veiw.
"How do you know Lilith," she said, spitting out the woman's name with contempt. She didn't know much about Kam's mother, but what she did know painted a picture of someone as selfish and vain as the time demon who had been the bane of her existence.

"Oh, the girl turns out to be a snake spitting venom! I feel it has been rather generous of me to answer your questions without getting any of my own answered in return, even though you barged into this caldera and interrupted me." The man says as he stops a few yards away from everyone. "Why are you here? You've already told me who you are."

"We're here to make sure you can't hurt Kam!" Taron says as he dashes forward to attack. He gets close, throws a punch, and before anyone can blink is flat on his stomach with his arms pinned behind his back.
"People who fight angry are easy to beat, even more so than the dire bears that inhabit this island." The man says coldy.
"Really? How odd. I distinctly recall telling you exactly why we're here. Perhaps there's something wrong with your hearing?" he said dryly.
As Taron dashes forward Asch fades out of view and reappears behind the man with two shadowy black blades next to his neck. "I'd let him go if I was you....my hands might slip and slice open an artery and then I'd be oh so sad."
