The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Let's leave them alone and find a place to camp with plenty of food before nightfall. I think most of us can see in the dark, but that doesn't mean I won't want a fire to keep away whatever predators are on this island."

Why do I get the feeling we're in Avalon's "Danger Room"?

Ummm....because you are? :)

"Yeah, that's probably a good idea."

"Hey, any of you guys who are flying able to see any good campsites we should aim for?"

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

"If the camping part is an issue we still have the ability to make a mansion for us that can feed.....156 people a nine course meal. I think that would even be sufficient for you three as well." Asch says as he quickly totals up the amount of food. "And we won't have to worry about predators either, they said survive not suffer and if we are surviving better than the other students well they should have planned better."

"Nothing like making a giant target for everyone and everything on the island.." Kam says as he takes off again, this time in search of a good place to camp.

"Bradley, wait! You can't just go running off like that! We haven't even got our whole group yet! People are still coming through you idiot!" [i]a very frustrated Ursula yelled after her brother who was boldly charging into the forest. She muttered something unintelligible and signalled to one of her friends. "I'm going after him, you stay and get everyone together and follow the trail. It shouldn't be difficult. You know what he's like."

Jeran and his pack had been some of the first ones through. They headed confidently into the forest, trusting their animal senses to guide them through.

F Sylph

The wind, having grown bored with Nasima, has abandoned her in a tree, hanging her precariously by the waistband of her jeans. "Not sure I'd know a good campsite if it came up and hugged me. Sorry. Um, anyway, hang on. Bit stuck." She struggles for a couple minutes but fails to free herself. "Ah, little help here? Please? Don't feel like cloud-forming just now and flashing most of the student body."

Meanwhile, farther down the beach Kor was organizing a nervous pack of first years who after the debacle that had been their fight with him during the snipe hunt were nervously deferential and hanging on his every word as he gave them each an assignment.

Ephebe looked around as the portal closed after the last students came through.

"Hey, where's Spin?"

Fei looks up into the tree somewhat curiously, then goes over and begins climbing up the trunk.

Fieri laughed and picked Nasima up by the back of her shirt, making an effort not to hurt the girl with her talons, and flew her back down to the ground.

She transformed back into a girl.

"I'm not sure, Phebe, but I think he was having a bit of an issue with the psionics teacher when I passed them in the hall on the way to the auditorium. He might have gotten detention. Talk about rotten timing."

"Oops!" she said, noticing Fei climbing the tree. "Sorry. Looked like I interfered with the rescue operation. I can put you back if you want," she said, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Taron looks up at Nasima as Fei starts his rescue of the sylph.

"Perhaps you should learn a little green magic?"

F Sylph

"Thanks, Fieri! You're a diamond." Sima beams at her. "I'm okay, Fei! Fieri got me. But thanks for coming up for me. This wind was a bit more...ah...mercurial than I guess I thought." She grins sheepishly up at the descending monk.

She looks at Taron. "...'green' magic?"

"Plant magic. You could get the trees to let you down if you get stuck again." He explains. "Air and plants work together well, so you might be able to learn some green magic easily."

Fei nods as he climbs back down to the ground and joins them.

"Wind is change. It could be hard to predict how it would behave sometimes, I would think."

"The entrance is the only visible part. And that becomes invisible when the caster goes inside."

Ephebe nods distractedly. "Uh-huh. Guess we should get going then."

She started into the woods, carefully picking her path and watching out for any strange creatures that might be hiding.

"Yeah, definitely. I've had a lot of practice talking to the wind and I still get fooled sometimes, as, er, as I suppose was just proven to everyone. Heh."

A large disturbance can be seen in the distance as Bradley can be seen running away from a trio of demonic looking girallons, being towed by a panicked Ursula.

Amada bops Asch on the head for the "planned better" bit he spouted off.

"If someone is hungry lets make sure to feed them, after all they may be the one helping you out later."
Amada puts an arm around Asch and gives him a wink.

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

"Ow, ok ok." Asch says as he rubs the back of his head and brings his hands up in mock surrender with a smile.

Another dozen fiendish girallons burst onto the beach chasing Bradley the Boldly Idiotic. The few students who hadn't already headed into the woods scattered, screaming as the troop of enraged girallons started to close.

Hearing Amada say they should help people, Taron waits for the Girallon to pass before he creates goo-mines in front of them.

"Wizards learn magic, and priests and druids are taught be their deity or nature, respectively. I'll introduce to the best green mage in Agartha when we get back to Avalon."

F Sylph

"Okay well lets try this. Sorry big guys!" Nasima executes another one of her pirouettes, ending in a Tai Chi wave stance, pushing outward with her hands. A wall of wind whips down across the beach between Bradley and the angry gorrillas, hammering the creatures with stinging stand and swirling around them, blocking their view.

"Hurry up, Bradley! Ursula! Get over here so we can hide."

As Bradley runs and 'Sima maintains her stance, keeping the wind blasting at the creatures, she turns to Taron. "Oh that would be great! Gosh! I'd love to know some real magic. That would be aMAZing."

Over Bradley's objections Ursula dragged him over where Nasima indicated since she had zero desire to be pounded to a pulp by angry girallons whose nest her idiot brother had trampled.

The girallons howled as they tried to see their prey.

F Sylph

Suddenly Nasima grunts with effort. "Ugh. Hey! What! What th-!" The wind shoots off up in the air, dumping about a half-ton of sand on everybody, and then with an audible cackle blasts away into the treetops, ruffling them about.

"Ouch! You're not supposed to do tha- uh-oh! Uhhh..." Nasima is looking with dismay at the Girallons, all of whom are rubbing sand out of their eyes and peering around. They are even more furious than before, if that's possible. "Uhhh...that wasn't supposed to happen. That's not fair! Oh heck. Only those big bully winds are around here and they're so hard to control! Any of you big-magic types have anything to hold these guys in place or something?" The sylph moves her hands hypnotically in front of her and a huge bank of fog rolls in off the sea, obscuring everything. Unfortunately that same heavy wind comes rolling and swirling back down, guffawing in Auran as it goes, making her obscuring mist much less effective than it would normally be as it gets shoved around. Sima growls girlishly in frustration. "Ooh! You! You! You're!...You're not very nice!"

Though confusion is written all across Fei's face as Nasima talks to Taron about not having any 'real' magic while sending a small cyclone down the beach at the girallons, he decides now is not the time to ask any questions as he steps slightly forward and to the side of her wind arc, in case one of the girallons closes before they can get under the cover of the trees...

When the winds seem to turn against Nasima, he looks between her and the rather angry girallons.

"Oh dear...."

"Okay people, time to tell your feet not to fail you!" Taron yells to everyone still on the beach as he manifests a few more goo-mines around the girallons. Once he's done he dashes off into the forest yelling "Run or become girallon chow!"

"Don't go into the high grass!"

F Sylph

With a quickly uttered "Sorry!" Nasima high-tails it for cover along with the others.

Fei quickly starts racing across the sand to get any stragglers to the treeline as fast as he can - which is (thankfully for all concerned) very fast. (^.^)

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

"Damn it!" Asch says as he watches the sand die down he quickly loads a slow shell into his caster and pulls the trigger. Dc: 17 will save.

Which one was he aiming at? There's about twenty of them.

Will save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Slow's a multiple target spell, like haste.

Holy....ahem.

TODAY'S GORECAST - Mostly painful, with a 75% chance of rending. Screams of 150-200 decibels can be expected.

;)

Male Dhampir Champion of Darkness, Order of the Gunslinger initiate

twelve of them :)

Amada loads her own slow shell and fires hitting the remaining enemy and doubling up on those that escaped Asch's shell.

Dc: 22 here info is wrong and needs to be fixed but her cl total is 13.

She felt a nervous cold gasp of air slip between her lips and her brows twitch slightly. Her eyes cold and staring down her target. When she fired, always lets her inner demon flow through her trigger hand.

F Sylph

TBH I RP'd 'Sima's sandstorm failing 'cos I know Asch wants to shoot things. :-)

Yep, forgot that. Was going to ask which part of the group he targeted but it looks like a moot point.

Between Asch and Amada's shots the entire group of girallon's was slowed giving the students a welcome head start on their retreat into the forest.

"Keep an eye out. We don't know if there are any more! Plus, those slow spells won't last forever and those things can move really fast through the trees."

"What? It's not my fault you don't like to read and therefore never know anything," she said to Jiminy as he shot her an annoyed look.

Nasima can hear the voice of Professor Vakkler in her mind. "Are you done fooling around now? Not that you're useless in a fight, but you should leave the important battles to those who can handle them. You're only getting in the way."

By the way, Bradley's zany antics are making me laugh. :D

Looking consternated, Nasima begins stammering yet another apology as she starts climbing a tree, but then cuts herself off. "I'm sorry Mister Professor Vak- hey! He's not even here - oh no he's in my head! Gah! I have a kobold in my head I have a kobold in my hea-WHOOOAOAAAAAAAA! OOF!"

Not being much of a climber, the sylph loses concentration and falls 10 feet to the ground. She's basically unhurt, but the wind is knocked out of her.

After getting the last of the stragglers to the treeline and running, and noting that Asch and Amada have their collective rears covered for the moment, Fei jogs forward to the middle ranks of the group...

Sima gets up and shakes her head, looking gratefully at Fei. "No, no I'm okay. Thanks. Whew. The only wind problems I'm having right now is getting my own back. How do you climb so fast? It's not as easy as it looks." She falls back into step with the others, running for whatever cover can be had.

"Much practice, and a great desire to stop falling to the ground," he replies sincerely as he matches her pace. :)
