Ephebe was out like a light almost before the vehicle started moving. Even though she was unconscious and not aware of her surroundings she seemed restless as her sleep was filled with dreams of fire.
"No, as far as I can tell you and I are the only ones who ended up in the infirmary thanks to the quake. And I wasn't injured. Just totally worn out from keeping the earthquake in check. I was able to cancel out the worst of it."

He reopens his eyes and looks around the Infirmary before returning his gaze to the Professor. Fei nods. He seems to be somewhat more at ease at those words, but still concerned. He lifts his arms to look at the bands around his wrists.

"Well, I hadn't really gotten that far....ummmm....I guess I could make you a spare set and some sort of containment box to put the charged ones in....that's not exactly ideal, but it will buy us some time to come up with a better idea. "It's okay. He's brand new today. I bet you didn't do a lot of talking either the day you were born. Actually, I don't know yet if Saffire will be able to talk or not. But I think he communicates just fine," she said, scratching a very pleased Saffire under his chin.

A few moments later, Ryo's door opens and Ruji flies in, landing softly on Ryo desk. A question mark forms between his wings.
"Ruji, Professor Vakkler here would like to ask you something."
The winged felin turns to look Vakkler, tail twitching slowly.
Vakkler frowns at the demonic cat. "Rujizi...traka. Did you eat my pygmy slurk?"
"No." Ruji images. "He's much too slimy. Plus, he's fun. It's not everyday I get to play with someone my size."

Then he nods. "Alright. If you see him anywhere, I must be first to know. I'm sure the Sunwake boy has something to do with this..."

Rest assured that they are in trouble for this, and you may in suggest a suitable punishment as long as you remember to take their age into account." He looks past Vakkler as his door opens and three human children walk in. All of them look a little like Ryo, and the little girl is holding Slarrow and looking guilty.
"Papa..." They all start, but Ryo holds up a hand to stop them.
"You know you shouldn't have him without Professor Relkav's permission. I know you know that because you've been hiding him from Lysander and myself. Please give the slurk back and apologize."
The girl takes a step forward, but the eldest boy takes Slarrow from her instead and bravely holds him out to Vakkler.
"Sorry Professor Relcave."
Saffire squeaked happily and nuzzled Kitty's hand.
"Awwww. So cute!" ^.^
"Not so cute when he's trying to bite you." Michael says, remembering the attempted nip back in his room. Chuckling, he looks at the time. "Oh man, dinner's almost over! Sorry Kitty, but I've got to go. I need to go to my room before Detention."
With a smile and a wave, Michael turns and runs to his room. Once there, he quickly grabs what he needs for and heads off for the slurk dens(being extra sure to lock his door).

"Oh, I'm fine. No matter what that healer thinks. I'm just tired. I can't really move rocks around before I get a good night's sleep, but that's not really so bad. Just don't touch any of the workbenches in the lab. It's primarily used by myself, James, and Solivala, though there are a couple of others who use it once in a while. The point being that you can pretty much guess from that list that most of the projects have the potential to be dangerous," she finished with a shrug.
[i]She stood up and waved at the disgruntled healer as she left the infirmary, Fei trailing behind. She led the way to an out of the way corridor and stopped to hit some buttons on a screen set into the wall beside a windowless door.[i]
"Okay, put your hand on the screen. After this the lock will recognize you and you'll just have to put your hand on the screen to unlock the door."
Jiminy finished off the last of his second pan of mystery casserole. It was surprisingly good for food of such dubious origins.
"Hate to eat and run, but I'm going to be late for slurk duty if I don't hurry, and Prof Relkav's been in a bad mood of late."
