Michael Dacamara |
Michael examines the book carefully, noting that it is indeed 'well loved' and excited to find out it isn't one he's read yet.
"Oh, no, don't worry about the condition. I've got a few books that are just as loved. If you want, my offer to help you with your homework still..." He trails off as he turns to put Kitty's book next to his others and sees that the little box is now dangerously close to the edge of the desk. It moves again and he doesn't think as he makes a slide out of the stone floor. It slides safely down and he hurries to pick it up.
"Um, completely ignoring the fact that my floor seems to have a mind of it's own(entirely possible in this school), I kinda made something in Alchemy. I can't keep him, but I don't want to let him go in the garden since he could get eaten by one of the plants or snakes. So, um..." Michael opens the box and scoops the mystery creature up. He holds it out, cupping it in his hand gently, and offers the creature to Kitty.
Kitty Tanaka |
"Aaaaaaw!" she exclaimed, gently reaching out to touch the adorable little creature. "It's so cute!"
She gently picked up the miniature dragon and held it up next to her face, being very careful to move slowly so it would feel safe. "It's the most wonderful pet I've ever seen! Is there anything special that it needs to eat? Oh, and exercise, does it need a lot of exercise do you think? And I bet I'm going to have to paper train it too, don't you think?" she asked excitedly.
She blushed. "I've always wanted a pet. I guess it shows, huh?"
Michael Dacamara |
"A little bit" He says, smiling because she liked the creature. "I'm pretty sure he's omnivorous, so just about anything from the garden should be okay. It should probably get some exercise, and as for paper training..." He shrugs. "I don't know. I only just made him today, and had to fend off Vakkler on the way here to keep him safe. I did try my best to make him smart, so for all I know the little guy can understand everything we're saying."
Kitty Tanaka |
"Oh, he's so sweet," she said giggling as the little dragon licked her face.
"He needs a name....Do you think Saffire is too girly?"
Kitty Tanaka |
"Oh, bad Saffire," she said in a tolerant tone used for animals and small children. "No snapping at Michael. He's our friend, isn't he? Yes, he is, you silly creature, and you have to be nice to friends," she cooed, holding the tiny dragon close. "Oh, I know, I bet you want to play, don't you? I wonder how you like to play....do you like to chase things? Here," she said sitting down on the floor and setting Saffire down on her lap as she pulled out some string and an old candy wrapper that was shiny and quickly tied them together, dangling them in front of the little creature. "I can get you some nicer toys once I know which kind you like."
Krays |
When the others move off to terrorize the castle...
"What happened there, Ephebe? I've never seen you tire so quickly. Are you alright?"
Ephebe |
When the others move off to terrorize the castle...
"What happened there, Ephebe? I've never seen you tire so quickly. Are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just...I spent all that time trying to get the hang of the speed thing, but the fire, when I use it...it's like it sucks up all my energy. Which probably means I'm doing it wrong," she added with a grimace.
Krays |
"Can you make a little flame of it without it draining you, and hold it? Maybe we can look at it with spells and figure out what it's doing."
Ephebe |
"Can you make a little flame of it without it draining you, and hold it? Maybe we can look at it with spells and figure out what it's doing."
She shook her head. "I can't seem to figure out how to call it up when I'm not in a life-or-death situation."
Krays |
"Nothings ever easy for us, is it?" he says with a grin.
"Well, what did it feel like?"
Ephebe |
"Nothings ever easy for us, is it?" he says with a grin.
"Well, what did it feel like?"
She sighed. "I don't know how to describe it. Mom always talked about moving ki and using it to add strength to attacks, but I could never get the hang of that either. It's just, when I'm in battle energy just sort of burns out of me. But then I feel so tired afterwards. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong. But I don't know who can teach me how to do it the right way. I mean, I think it's at least partly a Hunter thing, but somehow I don't think Lysander is going to be offering to give me lessons any time soon."
Krays |
"Doesn't hurt to ask."
Krays |
"He wouldn't dare! He knows I have your back, and how utterly fierce I am!!" He puffs his little chest out and bares his teeth, but it looks more like a wierd smile.
"Ok, maybe not so much. He's here in the school, so he can't be all bad. I don't think your uncle would tolerate him otherwise."
Ephebe |
"I don't know," she admitted. "Lysander is confusing. I'm not quite sure what to make of him. I guess that works both ways. I can't be an easy thing to deal with for him either. Part dragon, part Hunter...total freak of nature...He's family, kind of, sort of, so that just makes it more complicated."
Krays |
Welcome back m8
"Yeah...well, I won't bug you about it. It's your decision. Are you feeling any better?"
Ephebe |
Welcome back m8
"Yeah...well, I won't bug you about it. It's your decision. Are you feeling any better?"
"Yeah, as long as I don't use fire again...although from the sounds of the screams I'm guessing I won't get much opportunity...should we try to catch up?"
Imperial Chronicler |
Indeed, though timeline has moved forward a bit so I'm guessing we are currently in the infirmary. And welcome back. :)
Thank you, mi'lady :)
Right - shows how out of it I still am. I hope so, otherwise this will be more epilogue than dialogue. (o.O)
If you could lead us off when you get a moment? I (of course) have just been asked to help with something back in our warehouse...
Krays |
"Yeah lets go see what's up..." He'll offer a hand to Ephebe to help her up.
narrator |
Krays and Ephebe enter the keep finding nothing but destruction. Piles of rubble show where the golem made his way through locked doors and walls and occasional pools of blood showed where vampires had fallen. They picked their way through the castle looking for any sign of Asch or Solivala.
Asch and Solivala, you guys are at the dungeon level where the not-quite-turned-yet are held captive. I'm leaving it up to you how you respond to that situation.
Aanandareavekki |
Aananda groaned and opened her eyes. She felt completely drained. It had taken everything she had to stop that earthquake. She looked around and saw that she was in the infirmary. She tried to sit up and found that she had to take that a little more slowly than she was used to.
"Fei? Is he okay?"
The healer came over and pointed to the bed next to hers.
"It's alright, Professor Sunwake, the boy is alive and stable, but he still hasn't regained consciousness. You go ahead and get some rest. I'll let you know if there's any change in his condition."

I could have sworn I gace you a way to deal with them earlier... >.>
I wonder, would Aananda have felt Michael making the stone slide that caught Saffire's box? It's your call whether she was unconscious for it, but after forcing the entire school to be still, I'm wondering if there's a lingering connection. Could be her second clue that something is going in Avalon.
...
Okay, something new is going on.

Okay, something new is going on.
Given how much energy she used to stop the earthquake she's actually less sensitive than she normally would be at least for now. So, no, she doesn't notice. Kitty does, but she's both distracted and doesn't see it as anything sinister. :)
Kitty Tanaka |
Kitty laughed as Saffire pounced on the new toy and shredded it to ribbons followed by a preening proud pose.
Agarthian Storyteller |
Okay people, let's start a pool! How many posts(her own and those of others) or pages do you think it will take for Kitty to remember that Michael isn't supposed to have any powers, let alone one that's only been seen in Sunwakes?
Side bets on how long it takes for Vakkler to show up and make wild accusations are welcome as well. Vakkler is prohibited from placing bets for this one.

"Well, I'm glad I didn't push the ear scratching." Michael says as he watches the toy get mauled to pieces. "Next time I have to make anything in Alchemy I'm going to avoid using predators."

Hmm...
Kitty and Michael hear a knock at the door.I have a justification! Yrrum was very vague!
Plus, I...don't have anybody else to talk to. SHUT UP! VAKKLER DOES SO HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE!
Is the ramp still there?
Solivala |
Solivala scans the people. He speaks to Asch.
"If you would mind leaving this level and sealing the door on your way out I will take care of these people."
Before he gets branded the madman he means take care as in cure them. He just does not want to let on that he has the tech to do it. He plans on blaming the heart. ;)

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36
Kitty frowns a little, not sure why Michael would lie to her, but then jumps as there is a loud knock on the door and quickly moves to comfort Saffire who was startled by her jump.
Michael Dacamara |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Damn your ninja women's intuition! ;p
Kitty and Michael hear a knock at the door.
"If that is who I think it is, you might want to hide Saffire." Michael sighs in frustration. He gives Kitty a moment to do so if she wants to, then opens the door a crack so he can look out but Vakkler can't look in. "Hello again, Professor."
Is the ramp still there?
It is. Now that I think about he didn't turn off the music either, only turned it down.
Kitty Tanaka |
Kitty quickly slipped Saffire into her sweatshirt pocket and stepped so that she'd be behind the door, completely out of sight even if Michael had to open the door the rest of the way to let the professor in.
Vakkler Relkav |
Vakkler glares. "First off, your music is far too loud. I can hear it all the way down the hall. Some people are interested in studying, you know.
"Second, I want to make certain you do not forget that you have slurk duty right after supper."
He clicks his tongue. "Thirdly, is there somebody else in there who isn't your roommate? You know school policy* frowns on late-night visitors."
*Vakkler policy
He has ulterior motives in coming here, possibly to take a look at Saffire.
I just can't catch a break with these Bluff checks...

Sense Motive:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Dice Roller, thou hast failed me... :(
"No disrespect meant, sir, but I really think if anyone in this hall cared they would have said something to me. I also distinctly remember telling you I remembered about slurk duty. Finally, I've never even had a roommate. So, no, there isn't anyone else in here."
Bluff:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Thou hast failed me yet again, Dice Roller... T.T

I'll add just a slight tweak to that, if I may... (^-^)
The healer inwardly sighed in relief when Professor Sunwake laid back down on her bed. She needed her rest, but if she knew what was going on in the next bed over, she wouldn't get any.
She went back over to Fei's bed to check one more time to see if the system was saying the same thing, and it was...the boy (whose body should have been too horribly mutilated to still be alive) was still healing itself at an accelerated rate, with no evidence of permanent tissue damage or scarring. And the nanites had still not been injected into his system...
Bluff Check to oppose (in case Aananda senses something 'on instinct'):
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Michael Dacamara |
Vakkler is silent for a moment. Then he says quietly, "Open this door, Dacamara."
Suddenly glad Kitty had hid where she did, Michael hesitantly opens his door. He sees that the slide is still there, and realizes it would be impossible to make it go away without it being noticed.
Aanandareavekki |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 30 ⇒ (8) + 30 = 38
Aananda frowned. Something was wrong. The healer had been speaking to her in that tone used to hide something alarming from a patient until they were strong enough to handle it.
She sat up abruptly and had to catch herself on the side of the bed to keep from falling over.
"What's really going on?" she snapped.
Vakkler Relkav |
Vakkler's reptilian eyes bulge when he sees the slide--which clearly does not belong.
"What. Is. That."
He turns to Dacamara. He seems about to enter a rant...
...but he doesn't. "Repair it, and explain it, and no further detentions need ensue."
He's clearly working hard to keep his temper, besides a sour mood. He appears to be thinking hard on something.
Despite that, he seems to have heard Kitty shuffling behind the door.
He clicks his tongue.

She sighed outwardly this time.
"You do realize I have the authority to confine you to that bed for your own good Professor, right?" she asks but then holds up her hands before she can retort. "If I show you, will you stay in bed and please try to recoup for at least a little while?"
;)
Michael Dacamara |
"The little box fell off my desk and that slide appeared. Wouldn't ie be easier for oh, I don't know, Professor Sunwake to fix it instead of me? I'm supposed to be a telepath afterall, not a floor-o-path." Michael says tersely. He had this little voice in the back of his mind reminding him that the ceiling above Vakkler was stone too, but he knew he couldn't do anything while Kitty was still here.

She inches out from behind the door.
"Sorry, Professor. I didn't think it was a bad thing to visit Michael's room during the afternoon, but I wasn't sure, and I didn't want him to get into trouble. I was just giving him a book. And I'm really not sure about that stone slide...maybe it's related to the earthquake that happened earlier?" she said, an expression of utter sincerity on her face.
