Did you hand aletheia a sword or not? Up thread you seemed to have done so. We will get a vicious butt kicking if nobody has a weapon and this ends in a fight. I have claws so I am fully armed. I think we should go armed to give us a fighting chance against the guards and because so many of us suck at bluffing.
Drugoth Reburn |
if we are trying to bluff weapons are going to make it impossible if they turn out to be two handed. If we are going to fight someone needs to pick the lock to the cell so we can get out quick and ill pull out 2 weapons. Is everyone loose?

I'm still chained up, ill try to get thr guards attention so everyone else can attack from surprise(if possible).

The guards are not geniuses but they have decent Perception and are trained and on alert, and they actually FEAR some of you (the tiefling). They may not enter the cell. Do not count on surprise.

Can't do much about it at this point. The Nat one was if I had a two handed weapon from the viel. I was going to hide by Tokei and attack the gaurds as they went by but since I have a dagger I am back to my 15 bluff to look like I am in still chains.

Fair enough.
I would normally rule something happened when you roll a Nat 1 but let's just say that roll was not made this time. Things already look dire.
Please save rolls like that until I ask otherwise we will use them even when they are not needed.
Fair?
Who is keeping their third round actions?

Kallen can't do much of anything in her condition. How long is she nauseated again? It's been a while.
-
Yes I was wondering why some of the group were rampantly rushing when you were still some 3+ minutes more of nausea remain. Waiting a few minutes would have taken care of this condition and you would be more useful and could participate. Sorry but yes, unfortunately you are still nauseated.Drugoth Reburn |
I said in many posts lets wait until after 12 midnight. I have been repeaditly ignored and now we have 1 person chained 1 person incapacitated and a fight might break out. We have daggers and no armor verus armored well armed guards. Our spell casters can't cast unless they make a very high concentration check and failure nauseates them.Unless we roll well I see a TPK.

In my experience, player strategizing in PbPs tends to be piss-poor because player communication is less fluid. Them's the breaks.
I agree with several of Celestial Healer's postings on the boards but I have to disagree here.
On another board I play a very difficult Pbp with an unforgiving GM who is twice as tough as me on rulings if not more so.
The players I am with argue time to time and we are not friends in real life as we have never met BUT we play as a very cohesive and capable unit. The players I game with in Pbp come up with the most intelligent strategies and tactics because Pbp give you time to think! That's an advantage of Pbp.
And while my Pbp group is experienced many of you here are GMs and experienced players. I think you guys should read each others posts and use the discussion thread to your advantage.

Two questions:
How do you do init? In my experience it takes ages of everyone has to go in order. I let everyone who goes before the next npc or monster go in the order they post. E.g. Weylin, Tokae and I could act because we all go before the next npc. That way peeps dont have to keep checking.
Who can I reach after I take a move action to stand up (+ a 5 foot step)?

Right I am taking actions and if necessary I can make minor alterations in order to better suit the party, say switching targets if an enemy drops.
Standing up (move equivalent) then taking a 5 foot is allowed right? Even then the guard is currently at the square of the door and is 5 feet from your reach.
Could you try to bull rush as a standard action? Is that allowed?
Possibly throw something.

A third, can I reach anyone sitting down?
Err, four, do I take the -4 penalty to hit while sitting like I would if prone?
No one is within reach unfortunately.
What's Pathfinder's rule for sitting? Does it distinguish sitting from laying prone? Is it -2/-4?

I would say as far as a surprise round the guy who made his spot should have a Standard aaction or a move in the surprise round. The others should not have any actions as they didn't make the spot and are surprised. If one person makes a perception check it doesn't apply to everyone else as far as who is surprised and can act.

Right, the 'surprise round' here was the guard who failed both his Perception and Sense Motive opened the door. Had he made his Perception the cell door would never have been opened.
The two other guards made Sense Motive and Perception (your group had a 4 and a 7 for the guards to beat). I made them shout warnings on the 'surprise round' instead of pulling the door shut. Remember I gave the group a chance to redo their third round actions.
After that I basically I am giving the group one more round to get out for the frying pan. Weylin's Daze would have been very helpful had he made a DC 15 Concentration.
We are in Initiative of the first round of combat.
Drugoth Reburn |
His failing his perception has nothing to do with a surprise rd. It happens before we are in combat. He opens the door and the other guards notice we are not shackled. Roll init with the two gaurds who noticed us having a standard action and all of us having standard action. The 3rd guard would be surprised. One of the gaurds would have a obstructed view of the cell from where he is standing if they are standing ina straight line coming down the hall.. By your description the cell is 30x 15 with the door on the south part of the cell. The wall gives cover to the person to the right of door as you said -2 perception. So the 3rd guard by your description would be in front of a wall at this point unless they go to either side of the guy opening the door.

This was my first attempt at a online game and my question is do they all go so slow. We started Oct 22 that's 23 days ago and we are still in the first room. Is everyone still playing?
Weylin Ward |
I'm still here, I'm just stumped at what to do. We've tried the diplomatic approach, which was getting us nowhere. We're now trying the combat approach, which looks like certain death. What's the correct approach? This would probably be less of a problem if the game were in-person.
Kallen Marvaine |
They can be slow at times. It depends.
To the topic at hand, the last option is to see what happens if the guards think we have slipped our manacles. If we assault them, they probably won't hesitate to use lethal force, but if we allow ourselves to be re-shackled, I imagine they will probably do so and step up their vigilance. Can we handle being re-subdued and still hang onto the veil? If they confiscate the veil, will our benefactors be of any new assistance or will they allow us to rot in a cell without means of escape until we are executed? Perhaps we will find out!
