My father has been on hospice care for a few weeks, and the nurse has told us that he will probably die today. This is not a shock or a surprise, as he received a terminal diagnosis a little more then two years ago, and he has been fortunate enough to experience very little pain or discomfort until this spring; however, I am obviously going to have to take some time off to be with my family and help my mother in the days and weeks ahead.
I'm not going to call an absolute halt, as I enjoy my games and will most likely post as I can; however, I will undoubtedly be slower to respond for a while. Thank you for your understanding.

My dad passed away early Friday morning after lingering longer than anyone expected him to. Thank you for your kind words of comfort and support.
I will plan on getting the gameplay thread up and running again this week. Zeta, are you back stateside? I hope your daughter handled the trip well. I never tried going farther than a grandparents' house in the next state with anything younger than a preschooler.

I'm limited net access until Wednesday while traveling w/Rose. This is for testing ahead of possible expermental treament for paralysis after sroke, so any good thoughts welcomed.
Welcome back,Joanna.

First, I am sorry for the trying times that you are having. If there is anything that I can do to help, please let me know. You and your family are in my prayers.
Second, we got back in one piece, and my daughter is slowly coming off of the jet lag as she re-accustoms herself to our home time zone.

I am sorry for your loss.
She actually did surprisingly well. The plane flights went much much better than I expected as well as the long train rides. Both my wife and I were exhausted by the travel, as expected. All in all, the trip went awesomely well. Not sure that I would risk it a second time, I think we were lucky.

Reposting. A lot has gone on IRL.
Gristav will be going out, he has errands he doesn't expect anyone else will take an interest in.
Is it possible to still catch Gravin Goldhammer before his night shift? If not, will try dawnish as before.
More-flexibly-timed hope is to contact the Cloud or her officers, with word of somebody gathering (well, failing to gather, posse come-and-tax-us and all that) magical resources for a water-breathing raiding party, in a town where a toothy-named vessel was in port, with confirmation the witchy part of the failed boarding is crew on that same vessel... And by the way, could you several known faces and seasoned ears perhaps learn if a fat one-handed man recently, suddenly, took ship, and where to?
Speak of all this to Tendal, (who hasn't left the room yet?) partly to perhaps be able to technically involve his sell-for-more trait while narratively perhaps selling to friends on the Cloud.
Perhaps Tendal goes with?
Gris goes in any case.

Phil still plans to head out himself to get a bath and see Ethel... scratch that... maybe he should go find Ethel first then the baths.
On the travelling with small ones - we found that we were going to be exhausted at home anyway, so it was always more fun to be exhausted in fun and new surroundings. Had the distinct advantage of SE Asian cultures adoring babies - things like waitresses holding them for 15-30 minutes while you eat unbothered... that sort of thing ;)

Have also received a bit of news to cause sweaty palmed excitement... shipping notice for Dwarven Forge's Castle Kickstarter... all 4 boxes and 40 kg of Dwarvenitic goodness... that I can't play with yet :P

WOW!!!
Phillip Hargreaves
Yeah... umm... kinda... maybe... went a bit overboard? not
I've got two of the dungeon sets, three of the catacomb sets and five of the city builder sets as well... so a metric (and imperial) bucketload of them. Probably could cover a 6' x 4' board completely. Kids love it :P

Shift change is generally right at sunset, so he is already at work by now. You'll have to catch him in the morning.
So:
Correct?

A quick note, guys: I know I'm way behind schedule in this game, but Paizo being unreachable most of the weekend led into a busy week and a problem with my ancient laptop randomly filling pages with lower-case Ns. As you can imagine, this makes it very frustrating to type long posts. I have a new laptop ordered which should arrive next week, but I will attempt to get the game thread going before then.

Well since I have been starting my residency program, dealing with normal orientation and then doing 5 days of various levels of life support classes, I have not been chomping at the bit to get back to it.
I am glad you are back Joana. Today is my first day off in 2 weeks, so this worked out about perfectly.
Phillip Hargreaves
Huzzah!- congrats on the day off Tendal... yesterday was my first day back home after a 46 day offshore stint... which got... long by the end. Had a couple of days enjoying Tokyo - which was a blast, but landed back in Aussiland and into our Sydney shoebox.
Should be normal service from now for a while.

I'm a latecomer, I'll not take that gem from any more senior.
Which of us posted first? If Joana won't take the 10k for herself, who might most properly claim it?
Edit: After a spot of research, thinking post count might break a sort of tie, Phillip's ahead by hundreds. Not ahead of all Joana's alliae, surely, but of the rest of us mere players.
Take it, Mark. Lead us into the next 10k. :)
Joana
Mark's waiting for an answer from me before he can post again, I believe. And I have to point out that Phillip Hargreaves had a long(ish) and illustrious(ish) career before he was a halfling rogue in Riddleport: Mark reuses aliases, so not all of Phil's posts were in this game.
If we're restricting the 10,000th post to the remaining original players, that leaves Braddon and Tendal. Who'll get there first? :)
Phillip Hargreaves
I'd claim no right to claiming the post at any rate... and Joana's correct in the statement that I'm a recycler. Phillip's first incarnation was an Australian Demolitions Expert in a Weird War II game... Early memorable moment was engaging a trojan camel...
10,000 young and still rolling... must be doing something right ;)
Braddon Hurst
Well, I took 10,001. And I even threw in a touch of drama.
But no, we didn't set up for anything huge. Though the whole game has been amazing on so many levels. I don't think we really needed to.
Congrats Tendal on your 10,000 and your 20.
HERE'S TO ANOTHER 10,000!!!
:-)

You know, outside of Aubrey's games - that dude has been running games since 2007 - I don't know of any other games that have been running this long. And he's got several.
Here's Aubrey's runelord game: RotRL
It's obviously a slower paced game seeing how after 10 years they're only 11th level. But my gosh that is a long time.
Joana
If you go into the Play-by-Post and click on Posts, you can sort the threads by number of posts. We're twenty-seventh on the list right now. If you consider only games that are still active, we are sixteenth.
Of the fifteen active games with more posts than ours, seven began before we did, including a game Mark has been playing a pirate in since 2011. The oldest active game on the boards belongs to Aubrey, as Javell says: April 23, 2007.
While we are not unique, we are certainly among rarefied company. :)

*ahem* And coming up on 5 years, you guys are third level. At that rate, you'd hit 6th level if we were still going at ten years. ;)

What?! My gosh that is so absolutely terr... ific! Yeah... that's it... terrific! Man that's exactly what I was going to say. Yep, sure was. Terrific was the word. Mm-mm. I mean, what other word starts with 'terr'? (Nobody answer that) ;)
