I humbly present Nathanial Torken and his steed Aurex. I'm still considering adding some additional background to Nathanial instead of just the doctor's notes idea that I shamelessly stole from Veneficus Heketch, but right now I'm very happy with how it turned out. Also, do you want me to include a background and personality for Aurex?

That's a 3rd party class, right?
Did you "inquire about it"? xD

GmiY only allowed Paizo, with asking about 3rd party stuff.

I did in a PM, thanks for checking though!

Yeah, no problem!

Didn't want you to not get in because the GM didn't notice it was third party until he closed it.

Yeah that would be pretty awkward haha. I've been dying to play this class because the flavor of it is so cool. Combining the bond with an evil dragon into mental instability only makes it all the better!

I actually traded away the revelation that allowed me to get an animal companion from Lunar (Primal Companion) for the more flavorful Gist of Madness (GM-approved).

I can't see Prae toting around any kind of animal without sacrificing it to The Moon, and that would get old after a while.

Oh, and I've solved the channel issue for now, I believe. A consecrated weapon allows me to "Channel Smite" through it, at 1/2 damage. That makes it 1 negative (as half of 1d3 will always be 1), and gives them the confusion effect. In emergencies, I can do it, but this opens another option.

Hey, would you allow mummy mask campaign trait? I'm looking at it to pick up trapfinder so I can handle those tasks.

Additions to Sarhashil for the extra skills (Thank the mad god for these, felt like a cleric with the amount of skills I had at present)

+6 Profession Gladiator, +6 Acrobatics

Traps? Traps?!
We shall boldly charge into every trap, letting Chaos itself decide who comes out alive!

Seriously, though, I think he said that he'd allow reflavoring for traits, if you can give him a story that fits.

Seth86- I believe that you have what you need. To give you a checklist, you do have a statblock, background, personality, appearance, and a mental illness, right?

Veneficus Heketch- Am I reading a crazed version of Sir Alonne here? Just got through with that boss, hence why I thought of him when I read your write-up and weapon. If you don't know who that is, look up the fight with him on YouTube. He's basically a super samurai duelist in the Crown of the Old Iron King expansion for Dark Souls 2. Hardest boss in the game, in my opinion. Also, nice write-up with the diagnosis! As a professional in abnormal psychology, I can say that you made that look quite legit!

CampinCarl9127- Background, appearance, and personality are all things that I would like to see on your character. I rather like his "The dragon made me do it!" mentality that I'm reading he has.

Korak the Boisterous- I have no issues with you reflavoring any traits on the SRD.

Now if I can only get in the mood to build the damn character, I can't concentrate on it.

Korak the Boisterous- I know the struggle! I was going to submit a character for the Legendary Planet AP that Rednal is running, but just couldn't find the time because I was finalizing details for this campaign.

For me it's mostly that I really hate building gestalt. I made once character for it so far, not including working on this one, it's just such a pain in the ass to me, I have to balance my stats to get the most out of the class, hell strength will be a very low end to this build which will probably be fighter/assassin that way I can make dex and int my go to abilities,

Korak the Boisterous- That's part of what balances gestalt, since it gives such a wide range of options. I tried to make that easier with the generous stat array, since Way of the Wicked CAN be pretty difficult at times for those who are unoptimized. Trust me, the final fight is absolutely bonkers.

Yeah well the Korak Identity is my Gestalt character, and he is awesome. He is a brewmaster, he gets most of his abilities from getting drunk, what's he gestalted with? A drunken master monk, what are there key abilities? strength dex and wis...

I love gestalt to the point of building a new character with the gestalt rules for PFS, falling in love with them before I realize that's super illegal.

Ever since doing it, I have found normal games to be soooo much more boring.

Yeah, gestalt adds so many more options and choices.
Prae has 6 different ways to debuff opponents (channel, both domains, two oracle spells, and the gift of madness revelation), courtesy of gestalt.
But that's part of the fun, especially with Prae.

(I'm honestly considering rolling a dice every turn in order to choose what he'll debuff opponents with, of course not doubling up on things.)

And gestalt/high point buy also allows for combinations that people would never play without.

For example, my alias Hseir is a cleric/druid/bloodrager, something I would never even consider without gestalt.

It's just so much more exciting to me.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Gestalt is much more fun, because it opens up options for your character that would otherwise take level-dipping, and therefore forfeiture of capstone abilities, in order to partially actualize in-game.

A perfect example is playing a Trickster-type (Capitalized because of the title given to Coyote!) character like Loki. We all know that sneak attack and illusion spells are what is necessary, but level-dipping, especially when one is a dedicated spellcaster, hurts immensely!

It is very lovely indeed, it's one reason why I hope I get selected. I barely got to really try it out before and this is a really interesting campaign to get the feel of it properly.

No questions for your GM? I feel a bit neglected! :P

Oh dear, we must fix that....which is more evil a leprechaun or a unicorn?

If you're feeling bored, you can read through my half-completed backstory for Nathanial. I can't wait to get to the personality section. I'm going to make a distinct name and personality for each voice that will represent Brume and the different acolytes that took part in his torture.

Oh, you hve multiple voices in your head?

I only have one.
Well, besides my own.

He's pretty loud.
But I love listening. He tells me....interesting things.

That's a no brainer.

^^, I pulled a bit from Fallout New Vegas's "Dog" character (The Super Mutant in the Casino). The sentient inside Sarhashil is still there but a very very quiet voice that rarely gets out.

All done! Oh boy, it was a blast writing this character. I cannot wait for a chance to play him. I still might add more personalities, but I think nine is enough for now ;) Nathanial Torken

I'll actually retract my submission. Can't get the multiple personality thing done in a satisfactory manner and don't have the time to work out something else. It's too bad, this game looks like it'll be a ton of fun.

Blarg, the suspense is killing me. We got like 8 hours and counting till close and I wonder how quickly after the GM will have his selection.

I feel strange in a manner that my character is perhaps the only dual combat focused character...unless I missed someone else but then the nature of the character was more of a monster then a tactician or a skillful person.

~8 hours from Recruitment ending. Let's see what we've got.

Character - Player - Classes
Sarhashil - Vincent Fleming - Brawler (Steel-Breaker) | Barbarian (True Primitive)
Carcosa, The Tattered Shepherd - Doomed Hero - Summoner (Morphic Master) | Skald (Totemic Skald)
Kyla - Philo Pharynx - Unchained Rouge (Kitsune Trickster) | Sorcerer
Tyrrol Radanavich - Luke_Parry - Oracle (Dual-Cursed) | Ranger (Trophy Hunter)
Praetorix - bigrig107 - Cleric | Oracle (Black Blooded)
Finn 'The Kid' Whitswift - YoricksRequiem - Investigator (Mastermind) | Bard
Charles Caigmore - Wondering_Monster - Inquisitor (Sanctified Slayer, Heretic) | Druid (Storm Druid)
Rex - Seth86 - Unchained Rogue | Wizard (Primalist)
Odrick Payne - Rynjin - Kineticist (Elemental Annihilator) | Medium
Lily Vorkink - Darthrancor - Sorcerer | Necromancer
Lethaleen - Nathan Monson - Oracle (Black Blooded) | Unchained Monk
Itches - HighonHolyWater - Alchemist (Mindchemist) | Diviner

Veneficus Heketch - Jack Skilleton - Magus (Kensai) | Monk (Hungry Ghost Monk / Master of Many Styles)
Nathanial Torken - CampinCarl9127 - Dragonrider | Bard

Please let me know if I've missed anyone. Everyone's characters are amazing. I don't envy the GM's choice in the coming days. Best of luck to all of you.

I'm actually retracting my submissions, the GM is planning on picking up the WotW game Soren was originally made for, so I figured I'd just play her there.

Best of luck to all of you! I'll be following along, it seems interesting.

Just finished the last few edits to my submission, a little rewriting in her backstory and added the Hare Psychopathy Checklist.

I find the scariest thing about her is that based solely on that checklist Lily isn't considered a psychopath in the US.

The wait is killing me!

I was gonna do one of those but quit when it became clear he was definitely a psychopath about halfway through.

Yeah, after the first few questions, I stopped doing it.

I didn't see the point in doing it, when I'd just be repeating "Yeah, he's a psychopath" again, and again, and again.

I stopped doing the psych eval because...well He is subhuman in nature and I would be unable to really see anyone getting information of that kind out of him.

Edit: I did actually finish it but I don't see it being overtly useful to post.

While it was challenging and a fair bit of work, I found it was fun because you really had to delve into their personality to figure it out.

I really did get some insight into what he's like, but it wasn't really fitting into what I wanted if to be, so I decided to stop.

Some of the things I learned, however, will help me explore his personality in the future.

I honestly see quite a few fairly capable manipulators who would probably be able to coax Sarhashil into doing their bidding for the most part. Lily and him would probably get along swimmingly.

There are a few others who might possibly also be able to keep him in check so to speak but I think Lily is perhaps the best suited based on background and the like to actually want to and find him interesting and useful.

If Lily gets picked, I see her guiding the group, especially if Prae makes it in to.

I'm not sure anyone will be able to truly handle this particular insane halfling, but Lily will definitely interest him, if only for her manipulative powers.

Not sure how manipulative Prae can be, but he sure has the Charisma to back up some of the social skills.
Haven't really gotten around to putting some ranks in them, though.

He hasn't learned his people skills yet xD

Less then 8 hours to get a character in? Great! I love challenges :)
I think I will try and get something for Joseph here :)
Joseph is your standard mad scientist/whimpy grad student, he's absolutely brilliant, blind and has the social savvy of a wrench...
Did I mention that he chucks high grade explosives and that he is blind?

For this, I will be changing him around a bit, he was a college student and later scientist for Nex where he has since found himself in this neck of the woods for... Reasons.
I'll be gestalting him with something, just not sure what yet.

2 questions. He has the dwarf feat Breadth of Experience reflavored as College Experience, is this OK?
Also he has a pair of Smoked Goggles that he wears because he is nearly blind (actually they make him blind...) That's kind of important to his character concept. Could I start out with these, or at least have them close by after the game starts?

As for his insanity, he's b~*##*+ crazy brilliant so I am sure I can get something for him figured out...

Unfortunately, Joseph, recruitment has been closed to new applicants for quite some time.

It was a few pages back, so I get how you missed it.

Awwww D:
Oh well, thanks for letting me know :)
I had actually managed to finish up his crunch in less then 40 minutes, minus a few bits. A new personal record!
Still, good luck to you guys, Sounds like it would be a fun campaign :)

Yeah, no problem!

Was hoping to keep you from having to do all that crunch, and not be able to get in.

I'm sure that whoever gets in won't mind you dropping in to check every now and then.
I know I, at least, wouldn't.

My apologies for the wait. I woke up around 5:00 P.M. and played Dying Light for several hours after eating some food.

Here are my selections for the party's composition!

1. Carcosa, the Tattered Shepherd

2. Praetorix

3. Lily Vorkink

4. Odrick Payne

5. Sarhashil

6. Itches

There were a lot of REALLY good applicants, something that I have come to expect here on Paizo from what I have gathered during my lurking period. It still didn't prepare me for the tough decisions of choosing between you all. I commend all of you for the amazing characters you put together and hope that we get to game sometime!

Those who have been selected, report to gameplay and discussion!

Enjoy

Sweet! Let's fry some suckers!

Have fun all! Definitely will be following along!

Congrats to those who got in! Have fun and do lots of evil things.

Darn!, oh well; Good luck you guys, have fun destroying the world!
