Vincent- If that's the case, simply to a sample roleplay with him. Let it showcase how primal he is.

The Gamemaster in Yellow wrote:

Carcosa- I have lurked for years and have read several campaigns here on the messageboards. I know the quality of your characters and roleplaying, so trust me, you're a strong candidate. Out of curiosity, have you ever played Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem? They're supposedly working on a sequel to that. Combined with the fact that there is supposedly a Call of Cthulhu game coming out on next-gen consoles the end of this year or early next year, Lovecraft fanboys have much to be happy about!

Oh yeah, love that game! I can only hope that they make a sequel that lives up to the original. It was a masterpiece.

Pargon! Pargon! Pargon!

I'm just wondering if the 'all ancients but one are dead' ending is canon. If so, what will be the plotline? The Corpse God breaking free of it's prison?

The Gamemaster in Yellow wrote:

Given the nature of the beings and the story itself, I kinda doubt a little thing like dying would stop them forever.

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and all that jazz.

Do you allow drawbacks?
Or is the insanity enough?

I'm like, super excited for this by the way.

Finalized the idea:
Halfling cleric/oracle of Groteus, focusing hard on Cha and madness/confusion, with the Madness variant channeling, and gift of madness.

Not sure about other domain yet.

Okay. So character class is okayed. And obviously race....

Story idea on why he us "detained"

In a goody goody land, one will easily be caught, subdued and carried away by men in white coats if you proclaim yourself as the supreme ruler of the land and that the king is a false one. He is a false emperor who is on the throne oonly through deceit and corruption. He usurped you and you will make sure that one day you will take it back, by force if needed. And no one can stop you! Hahahahhabwhahahahmwhahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

Uhm. *cough cough* excuse that. Gets out of hand sometimes. But yes.... bad king. Rightful place. And all that

Seeing as how the first listed alignment allowed is CE, just how evil/insane are you looking for?

I'm thinking the act that finally got him tossed in was some kind of mass killing/slaughter in an inn or something, and wrote the symbols from his dreams all over the walls...in their blood.

Thoughts?

Edit: is Antipaladin allowed? You said all Paizo, but I'm not sure. Halfling antipaladin....yes!

Edit 2: oracle is a better fit for this guy. Although he may go into it later.

Vincent Fleming wrote:
Oh, I wasn't saying that I wasn't interested or not feeling the character. Just seeing the submitting players and such gets me a little intimidated sometimes. I will admit this will be the first time I've played a character with such a low intelligence score though. But, I like the challenge of the idea of him. I'm just wondering how or if I can make him better or more appealing is all.

I know what you mean, and ultimately, I'm pulling out. I just don't thing he's a good fit for this.

Why not both? ~Taco music~

Cause I want cleric for the Madness channel.

It's too thematic xD

Sczarni

I am close to a character but cant make up my mind on class and race selection. Here is the general personality:

He is a caster of some sort that has a wizard friend (Imaginary friend) who is permanently invisible due to a failed spell casting that back fired. Thats the justification for why no one else can see him. While locked up my characters slips further away believing that the royalty have all been replaced with demons and are the reason for him being locked up. Obviously those "demons" need to die.

I was thinking of Something like Sorcerer/Mesmerist, but I am already seeing several sorcerer submissions, so I don't know for sure yet.

Considering a Monk/Oracle

How would you feel about a character with a split personality? Each side of the gestalt would represent a personality.

Would you allow the two personae to have different alignments?

EDIT: I'd be looking at 3 different personalities, 2 of which are dominant and more common. They'd be a CN Pyromaniac using the (Pyro)kineticist from Occult Adventures and an NE of yet to be determined class.
The CN would be rash, impulsive and reckless but friendly and generally benevolent. The NE would be cold and calculating, holding no real affection for anyone but herself and her "twin".

The third would be CE and wouldn't have it's own part in the gestalt. This part is the part closely tied to Hastur and both the other personae fear it.It would show psychopathic behaviour. It's this persona that landed them in the sanatorium as the rest could be chalked up to Gnomish eccentricity.

If their shared body would be a car then pewrsona 2 would be in the passenger's seat while nr 1 drives and vice versa. When nr 3 drives the others are bound and gagged and stuck in the trunk.

Aren't they a Golarion specific, extinct race that give a +2 bonus to every attribute?

Well, his ability scores add up to 20+2, so I bet it's only flavor.

Or for some feat/trait/spell.

I was wondering...how do my potential party-members feel about making a DC 17 will save against 1d3 negative channel damage, and being confused for a round?

I can't get Selective Channeling yet xD

And would this be okay with you, GM in Yellow? If it'll cause problems, I'll drop Improved Channeling for Selective.

Potentially getting Confused whenever someone uses their main schtick would probably get real old after a while.

Please go Selective first. Then improved. No reason to make your party suffer for two levels just for a +2 to your DC. A 15 is plenty at first level.

That's what I was thinking.
Was mostly just loving the image of random confusion.

See, that's why I ask these things.

Sczarni

While that does sound fun, it would probably get old quick.

Yeah, I figured.

I've noticed, what with the Madness and Chaos domains, Madness channel, and the Oracle class plus Lunar mystery, there's a lot of ways to debuff guys.

Guess I found my role!

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Since the character I'm putting together is a torturer by trade I have a question. What skill(s) would be used to know about a creatures anatomy?

I'm currently now thinking an "electromaniac". Like a pyromaniac, but he loves executing people. Like The Shocker or The Electrocutioner or something, and an all around general sadomasochist.

Kineticist (Elemental Annihilator?)/??? (maybe Alchemist for a more general mad scientist/Dr. Frankenstein vibe?).

I've finished, I think.
Any feedback is welcome.

Putting in a short roleplay sample, to give a glimpse into his personality and insanity.

Quick roleplay sample, overheard in his Sanitarium cell:
It was Moonday again. Almost midnight.

His favorite time. This was when the dreams came.

Prae sat on his bed, his short legs hanging off of the edge.

"Soon, dear children. Soon, I will hear His voice again. And all shall be known."

Prae stood up, and walked slowly, even reverently, over to the far wall.

Within minutes, he has entered one of his trances, the black sheen that often covered his eyes returned, and his hands went to work.

He picked up a sharp, but smooth, piece of rock that he kept hidden under the underside of his mattress. The guards had often taken his old ones away, but he always managed to get another.

The rock arched across the now familiar symbols etched into the wall.
No one could make any sense of them; even Prae himself had little insight into their meaning.

And still he traced.

The deep impressions in the wall caught the edges of the rock, and the eerie sound of rock on rock echoed throughout the cell again.

"He speaks to me. He speaks to me!"

"The Last Moon, The Harbinger of Last Days, tell me your secrets! Open my eyes to your wisdom! Allow me to look beyond these mortal walls and into the madness of the void!"

He then fell silent, his eyes returning to their normal shade of blue.

But still the sound echoed, and on he traced.

Profession Torturer, heal, each knowledge that are specific to each type of creature would be the three that I would assume would encompass the creature's anatomy portion. So you would look at needing Wis/Int as your higher skills.

Oh! A background!
Forgot that part!

Will get it up tonight/tomorrow.

Quick reference to a bit of sample roleplay:

He sat in his cage, wrapped in weighted chains to keep him from using his full strength.

The hunger scratching at him like a parasite that had gotten under his scales.

He longed for the day someone would grow lax again when feeding him and forget to use the pole to slide in the meat.

He knew not the makings of the building outside his own cage as even with the muzzle over his mouth, he had killed an orderly and another patient.

He howled in frustration as the hunger spoke to him like a deafening roar.

His face pressed up against the slit that was his feeder, his only interaction with the outside world as his nose flared trying to smell something that would at least sate his appetite.

He gnashed at the door, trying to force the slit open all the while cursing in Draconic

"Feed me you weak savages, feed me or the beast within will tear your soul from you body" he said in a rough, thick gravely voice.

A minor sane moment slipped through for the man before the beast took back over and he began to rampage inside his cage, chains straining to keep him in check.

The chains bit into his scales, some cutting through to the flesh beneath and when he caught a whiff of his blood he calmed for a brief moment.

He licked at the wound, drinking of his own blood , feeding the beast inside for but a brief moment.

That was when lunchtime was sounded and the slit slide open, a raw slab of meat was pushed into the room and the slit was quickly closed as the sound of teeth gnashing and ripping the flesh apart began to fill the room.

There will be some slight moments when the beast will be quelled, shortly after a feeding or possibly other times if the GM allows it to where the man inside can get through the savagery that is his true personality.

Working on a ratfolk divination wizard/mindchemist with a terrible fear of not knowing things. He can never be satisfied until he gets every bit of information from something/someone. He must know. I must know!

Couldn't resist putting background up tonight, and when I finished, I realized just how long it was.
Unholy crap, I am too excited for this.

Any questions, just ask me.

heal, it would be heal, profession torturer would just let you make a living at it.

You get Azlanti then you get the pure azlanti. Thats the race that gets plus 2 to all the stats.

Background
Akaia was born to merchant family, but left to her own devices. Her parents were busy with their work, either leaving Akaia to occupy herself or in the care of a governess.
Unbeknown to the current folk of the family, in days long past they worshipped fell gods in a cult and their ancient family home had a secret room in the cellar.
With little else to occupy her time, Akaia's explorations found her way to this secret place and the profane tomes it contained.
The prophecies of the End Times in particular caught her attention, it detailed the rise of a Dark Prophet, who would be born an orphan but rise to godhood and burn the world. Her childish mind, suffering from lack of attention and with dreams of greatness started to see herself in the role of prophet. She was almost an orphan for all the care her parents gave her after all...
As the years past her mind twisted further, and she sought to force the prophecy on herself, eventually killing her parents in her beds, making her a true orphan. She burned the Dark Mark onto her flesh and awoke to power.

Unbeknown to her the "Dark Mark" was Yellow Sign, and drew Hastur's attention.

Appearance & Persona
Akaia appears at first glance to be a typical Talingarde woman, of the mid-upper classes. Tall and regal of bearing with raven-black hair. Her eyes proud and filled with purpose.
Her mind however is somewhat twisted, obsessed with the book of the prophecies and narcissistic in extremis, she believes she is destined to godhood and that any obstacles in her way are just a setback and her rise is inevitable.
The fact that she has developed powers has collapsed her way out, she see's her oracle abilities as manifest proof of her rise.

Having read "The King in Yellow" multiple times, I'm pretty damn excited about this idea. I still have a bit more crunch to do, but I'm satisfied enough to throw my hat into the ring.

Discription of play:

I intend to play Charles as delusional. He thinks that he is a wizard even though he never was. Charles also believes

that the royals are out to get him. As the character develops he will get more and more paranoid thinking that the

royals have spies everywhere out to get him. He also has an imaginary best friend named Earl.

Charles as also started to be able to cast spells after devoting himself to hastur. Only to play on the madness even

more, Hastur has given him Druid spells rather than typical arcane spells. I used the Samsaran racial trait to take a

few spells to go with the wizard theme. He has infernal healing, and will use that rather than cure light/mod/ser,

because he thinks he is a wizard. He will rationalize not needing a spellbook, because "RELIGION". Any arcane wand that

he can't use is because "That wand is broken".

Also to play on the druid class, Charles was bitten by another patient. Delusional as he is, he believes he has

contracted some sort of Lycanthrope, but is still not sure what kind. This will play into the Druid Wild Shape later.

Another trickery of Hastur, encouraging Charles's madness.

Description - From Charles Caigmore's Perspective:

Ht: 6' 0"
Wt: 170 lbs
Age: 62
Hair: Black
Eyes: White
Skin: pale blue White

Charles Caigmore is trapped in this facility with his best friend Earl Harcaster. They were both wizard students at the

famous Alajar school for Wizards. One day they were experimenting with a new spell they had found when it failed

horribly leaving Earl invisible and mute to everyone except for Charles.

Nobody believes Charles and thinks that he is "Crazy". That is how he and Earl ended up locked up in this place. But

there is more. The royals have been secretly replaced by shapeshifting demons. Earl found out about it and the royals

discovered the fact that Charles and Earl knew about them. The royals setup Charles and Earl with that fake spell so

everyone would think that they are crazy.

Two weeks ago Charles discovered Hastur through other patients. Charles has been praying to Hastur to help them escape,

and he has now vowed himself to Hastur. In return Hastur has granted Charles some spellcasting ability. Unlocked in him

similar to a sorcerer.

Charles also believes that he was bitten by a lycanthrope of some sort when another patient bit him.

Discription - From Doctors Perspective:

Doctors notes: The Patient has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia with mass delusions. When checked in the patient

believed himself to be a student of a nonexistent Wizard School named Alajar. He told doctors that during a failed spell

casting that him and his friend Earl Harcaster were trying to perform, an accident happened leaving the patient as the

only person that can see or hear Earl.

Checking with the local law enforcement found that not only does that School not exist, nor does anyone named Earl

Harcaster exist, but the patient was a fisherman, not a wizard of any kind.

During treatment here, the patient has progressivly gotten worse. The patient was bitten by another patient, and he now

believes that he was bitten by some sort of Lycanthrope. We are concerned that the patient may become violent toward

other patients and recommend seclusion.

New Development. The patient believes that the royals were replaced by demons. He believes they found out that he knows

about them and that they put him here.

Ooh!

Doctor's notes. Such a gods idea, and I will be stealing that!

Sczarni

It is my personal belief that recruitment should be cut off now, and all applications accepted. I am loving all the other submited characters.

Well, does someone want to get together a list of those completed characters?

I probably could, but if someone else wants to...xD

Sure I'll bite.

.

.

.

Character - Player - Classes
Sarhashil - Vincent Fleming - Brawler (Steel-Breaker) / Barbarian (True Primitive)
Carcosa - Doomed Hero - Skald / Summoner
Kyla - Philo Pharynx - Rogue (Trickster) / Sorcerer
Tyrrol Radanavich - Luke_Parry - Oracle (Dual-Cursed) / Ranger (Trophy Hunter)
Rex - Seth86 - Rogue / Wizard (Primalist)
Praetorix - bigrig107 - Cleric / Oracle
Finn "The Kid" Whitswift - YoricksRequiem - Bard / Investigator
Charles Caigmore - Wondering Monster - Inquisitor (Sanctifier Slayer, Heritic) / Storm Druid (Air Domain)

Interesting combinations there.

I don't think recruitment should close just yet, as Rynjin is still working on a concept, correct?
You mentioned an electromaniac?

Also, finished psychiatrists notes.
Had quite a bit of fun with this guy, even if I don't make it!

Yeah, I just need to figure out what his second class should be, then everything else should fall into place very quickly.

Tyrrol and I should get along nicely, what with us being Groteus-buddies.
Reading the rest of the submissions now.

Got some interesting characters so far!

Praetorix wrote:

Lots of people are still working on classes - I included those above that posted aliases or crunch.

Sczarni

I was joking. Seriously people.

I have a CON this weekend. So will be away and wont post. Just giving a heads up

Okay, I think I got it. Kineticist (Elemental Annihilator)/Medium. He channels the spirits of his victims.

Odrick Payne:

Nobody knows why Odrick is obsessed with lightning. Maybe his parents were killed by it. Maybe he was struck once, and it addled his brain. Could be anything else. Only Odrick knows, and Odrick won't say.

All we know is that Odrick loves electricity. The look of it, the peals of thunder it makes, and the feeling of it coursing through his body, seizing his muscles in exquisite agony.

Odrick believes everyone should know the power of lightning. After all, the greatest feeling in the world is being electrocuted. It would be selfish not to share that with others, would it not?

He brings it to them, hosts within his own body and then shares with others, reveling in their writhing in ecstasy. After hours, sometimes days of giving his gift to them, most of his play mates cry, and say "Thank you" as they finally slip into the cold embrace of death. Odrick takes this as encouragement to visit more.

Odrick knows they truly appreciate his gift, because many of his victims stick around, invisibly following him after their death, ghostly forms still locked in expressions of pure joy, mouth wide in a never ending scream and eyes burnt out of their skulls. Sometimes they even help him bring the gift to his new victims, once he takes a while to knock them out of their reveries and help him. His first victim, a burglar, has proven one of the most useful over the years, letting him break into houses with great ease and sticking to the shadows. But the help of the cruel guardsman who tried to stop his mission of joy cannot be underestimated either. Nor the mage apprentice, or any of his other friends. Odrick doesn't play favorites. He'll bring his gift to anyone, anywhere. Even you, if you're patient enough.

Not sure what kind of insanity you call that.

Also, and I swear this is true, a thunderstorm rolled up around the time I started writing this.

Now I just need the crunch done. I'll make an alias, but I won't post with it in case I'm not picked.

Edit: Do we get the usual 1.5x HD at 1st level? d8 HD classes usually get 12 HP at 1st, and so on.
