I've played pieces/parts of Way of the Wicked before. I missed all of book 1, and 3/4 of book 2, but was around for the book 2 finale and book 3, where my JuJu Oracle perished to an unfortunate Natural 1 vs a Destruction spell, and then played most of book 4 with a Nosferatu Inquisitor before the group fell apart.

So I have ZERO clue what happens in book 1 besides "JAAAAAAIL BREAK!", and have no real knowledge of much of book 2, and from there forward most of the encounters were changed by the GM to be WAY more challenging.

As for Bloodborne, I've been watching the Game Grumps playthrough of it and it's what really solidified my want to play it. Main problem: I don't have a PS4. Here's hoping it hits PC some time, like the other Souls games.

Yeah Lily's the same way, out to get everyone. But with her being a very sexual character her goals are a little different than Prae's, but still extremely violent.

She would also probably study Prae, trying to learn more about the patrons that he's so in tune with in an attempt to learn more about the forces she'd agreed to serve if she got out of her cell, in addition to her usual attention that she gives.

Interestingly, the way I've written him Odrick would be more likely to kill someone if he liked them a lot. I'm contemplating (if I get in) having an unfriendly relationship with some of the others.

Odrick *Gets real pissed off* "You know what? I WAS going to give you my gift, but you made me mad, so you can't have any. NYUHHH." *Sticks out tongue*

Also, I have a question for you all.

There has been a request for me to put the changes to the Way of the Wicked AP that I will be implementing in this campaign on the messageboards for others to utilize.

Can I trust that everyone will refrain from viewing said thread, which would contain MASSIVE spoilers for potential player characters? I ask because I know that it would be quite a bit of 'click bait'.

As long as you remember to post with this alias, it should be easy to avoid. I might not recognize your regular alias myself if I come across it.

Same with me.

Ah okay, makes sense! I will add a *SPOILERS* caveat in the title!

@Lily- I would love to have the honor to lead you into the arms of our gracious Destroyer.

@Rynjin- Odrick and Prae could trade gifts! You, your electricity, me, my confusion.

@GMinYellow- yeah, I have no problem staying away from any WotW alteration threads.

@All- GM has allowed me to take the Gift of Madness revelation from the Dark Tapestry mystery, so I will be losing Selective Channel, in favor of Extra Revelation. Seeing as how Gift of Madness is confused as well, I'll probably at it off as him not being able to control it, and being afraid to use it unless necessary, until I can pick up selective at 3rd. Don't worry, I don't confuse-channel without asking the players first. I just jaw to have the Gift of Madness.

So, everyone still interested in the campaign that hasn't posted in a day or two, make yourselves known! I want to make sure that everyone who has posted is still onboard for recruitment!

still here. Looking forward to selection.

Well, that was a fast reply! :)

I am waiting with bated breath. I need to do a psych evaluation on my poor guy sometime tomorrow. I just want to read others to get a feel for it.

Not sure if you meant everyone, but I am obviously still here.

@Vincent, I've got a psych evaluation if you want to look at it. It's at the end of his profile.

I know people are curious about the Insanity Traits, so here is a copy of message I sent a few minutes ago.

"To give an example, those with Hallucinations gain -2 to Perception and saves against Illusions, but gain a +4 bonus to saves versus Gaze Attacks and also can roll a d% to determine if they actually have a useful hallucination that can help them on a part they are stuck on.

To use another example, Lily's Sadism will give escalating bonuses to damage rolls and she can convert any lethal damage she deals to nonlethal, but she takes 1 point of nonlethal damage per die from attacks, due to sadists having a horrible pain threshold AND she must deal pain once per week or else suffer a penalty to Will saves and any checks requiring concentration equal to the number of days deprived after that period (Max -5), as her urges build up to the point where they are distracting.

Get the idea on the insanity traits now?"

Neat.

Glad to see that you like them so far! Once I select players, I will give everyone their traits that they may then place on their character sheets.

And to give you an idea on what yours would be, Rynjin, Electromania would be something like +1 damage per die of electricity damage, +1 to initiative every time you deal electricity damage (Due to you growing progressively more elated at the prospect of spreading the joy!), but taking a -2 penalty to saves versus electricity effects, due to your fascination with them overriding your sense of self preservation and you take 1 additional point of damage per die of electricity damage, as you do not even bother resisting the effect and subconsciously move towards it.

Sound cool?

Sounds good to me. Draconic/Orc Crossblooded Sorcerers will look at Odrick like a rare treat =p

How long would the Initiative boost last, and would it apply retroactively (generally, boosts to your Initiative mod don't move you up the order)?

The Initiative boost would last until either combat ends or you get dropped. And the Initiative boosts WOULD move you up in the order of actions. So expect to start out at your Initiative and then, essentially, have the highest score in the group after a few blasts of electricity on your 'special friends' that are trying to lock you up or kill you.

Anyone that has played WotW before will like the way I changed the 'companions' around! Grumblejack was especially fun to alter. :)

Grumblejack is one of those characters I HEARD a lot about, but never interacted with, so that should be fun. =)

Are we doing the Organization stuff in later books, or do you think that would slow the game down too much in PBP format? I know it ate whole sessions in real-time sometimes.

Just out of curiosity, how would people like for me to create a Google Drive document that I can update with results of knowledge checks, NPC dossiers, artwork both from the books and from other sources that help make people who want visual satisfaction and a better idea of how things look?

Rynjin- There will be a side thread for that sort of thing, should people be interested in it. If not, I will simply present a selection of options at appropriate times for PCs to vote on and then I will handle that part.

For that matter, I will even allow the PCs to run characters for the MinionQuest side story, should they be interested in playing lackeys in the Cult of the Yellow Sign.

Due to the obvious hint above, I DO have Way of the Wicked Book Seven, which mostly handles fun extras that can be included in the campaign.

Both of those ideas sound great. Given the way we treated our minions, playing one should be...interesting.

I'm still here and still working on my character(s)

Just wade one more tiny switch with the evil persona now being the "older sister" and caretaker while the neutral persona being the naive "younger sister" and the pyromaniac.

Been mostly working on background, which is a story of abuse that starts a bit like cinderella but the wicked stepmother and especially her daughters are quite a bit worse. They are the reason my character's arms and legs are covered in many different burns of various sizes and forced the initial split, splitting her inner child from a harsher, colder part designed to protect herself. They also are the ones that out her in the sanitarium, except for the one stepsister that died in the fire that is.

EDIT: How do you feel about adding archetypes to Occult classes once the book is out? Right now I'm looking at a Kineticist/Psychic for this character and, based on the info I have so far, am very interested in the Overwhelming Soul archetype for the Kineticist and the Mutation Mind archetype for the Psychic (representing the growing influence of the "Other" on mainly that personality)

Cuan- Adding archetypes to the Occult classes after the book they are published in is released is perfectly fine by me.

Here is the backstory I'm not exactly sure what to call his madness, but he is definitely not normal.

Appearance and Personality:
Lethaleen is tall and thin, with pale skin and dark hair, which he allows to get a bit shaggy. His pointed ears betray his elven heritage, but his most remarkable feature is his eyes; they are utterly black, with no hint of other color to be found, and give people who look into them the unsettling feeling that they are windows into an infinite void. Lethaleen prefers to wear simple and functional cloths, such as simple robes.
Lethaleen prizes efficiency and perfection in word and deed; he doesn’t much care what the people around him do, as long as they do it well. If they act in a way he considers improper, he will make suggestions, and he tends to become frustrated and violent if those suggestions are not followed. In addition, while Lethaleen has a logical outlook on life, he has no sense of proportion, and a strong sense of self-preservation, in combination these two traits have led to him killing entire families, reasoning that the survivors will eventually seek vengeance against him. However, despite all this, Lethaleen never breaks his word, and disapproves of those who do. He does show his allies leniency

Backstory:
Lethaleen’s parents were moderately successful merchants in a small city, a fact that he tried his hardest to forget; Lethaleen was bored of his simple city life and the mundane future of entering his family business, like his parents wanted him to, he dreamed of adventure and excitement, of exploring distant lands and discovering ancient secrets.
Unfortunately for him, he was to get his wish. On the eve of his 26th birthday, he and his family were abducted by cultists to be sacrificed in a dark ritual; he couldn’t see, one by one he heard his parents and the other unfortunates die beneath the cultist’s daggers, then it was his turn however, when the dagger pierced his heart, Something Took Notice; when he awoke, Lethaleen found that the cultists had all been killed, and that he was irrevocably altered. His blood was filled with an unshakeable chill, and his eyes could pierce the deepest darkness; and now when he slept his dreams were no longer hopeful, but instead, filled with eldritch whispers, and the fell light of unknown stars.
He also found his mind expanding; he could see connections between things that he had thought separate; Unfortunately, no one would listen to him when he tried to explain, they said he was confused, traumatized, he explained that he was perfectly sane, and if they would just do as they were told, they would all be much happier. His neighbors thought he was a harmless eccentric until he killed 14 people and claimed self-defense; they jumped him while he was sleeping and shipped him off to the Branderscar Sanitarium

Wow, you're going all the way with this, GMiY! I applaud your efforts so far.

As for the organization, seeing as how Prae has a 20 Charisma, Leadership would be great.

And that has me looking at a story feat again.
Didn't think there'd be a chance to complete it, but now that you've reminded me about the organization...

Prophet

Would taking this be acceptable?
It's a cool little benefit, but comes with the added benefit of legitimizing my prophet status. xD

@Nathan- I forsee quite a bit of wonderful interaction between my madman and your killer. Should we get picked together, it would be a very interesting first few days!

I believe I am all done now.

Backstory:

Itch. Itch. Itches. Itches. It itches. It scratches. I can't get it out. Feed it. It's hungry. Food. Food. Information. Wants to know. Wants. Needs. Has to consume. Itch becomes bite. Feels like chewing. Make it stop. Stop. Only one thing it wants. Knowing.

Itches is not our ratfolks original name. His real name is Erixz. He was a normal ratfolk, by the standards of ratfolk. Living in the poor side of the city most of his days were spent running around with frineds. Trying to scrounge whatever they could find to get something extra to eat or trade. It was a simple life. Each day blended into the next. The only way he knew that things changed in the world was the seasons. Winter into summer back into winter. Other than that he never knew anything else than his little corner of the city. A couple times he tried to explore other areas of the city but was chased away by guards or by others that called him gutter filth. He hated it. One day one of them chased him a little too far. His friends turned on the lone human catching it off guard and pulling it to the ground. They robbed it and left it in the dirt bleeding.

A few coins was all they got. But they thought they had found a fortune. A feast was had, in their minds at least. They each with their share of the coins spent a day in the less rundown markets of their quarter. Before the night was gone their money was gone. They had the best night of their lives and made plans to do it again. A few weeks later a strange old man was walking through and went into a rundown building. Erixz had never seen this one here and was a little hesitant at following him. Inside the building it looked like the man had set up some sort of experiment. Curiosity caught them and momentarily forgetting the old guy who seemed to have vanished they slowed to examine the objects in the room. Before they could touch anything a bright light flared blinding them and loud noise assaulting their ears. His friends scurried away scared out of their minds but he dived to the ground and covered his ears. The man was standing over him talking but he couldn't hear. He let him go.

He was curious and returned to the building without his friends and waited for the man to leave. He found many curious things and books that he couldn't read. He was sure there might be something here worth a lot of gold. Maybe the books possessed magic formulas. No one he knew would buy books off him. They would be known to be stolen goods. Everything besides books he found was strange and mysterious to him. Jars and substances that he had never seen. He grew more and more curious, sneaking in to look at the books. Wanting so badly to know what was written in them. If he could do the magicks or make magical substances and potions he could get money, gold. Then the man caught him. He couldn't escape. But instead of turning him into a mouse as he feared he told him that he had been watching him. He wanted Erixz to be an apprentice. In exchange for his help he would teach him to read and one day he would go wherever he wanted. He easily agreed. It didn't take him long to learn to read. He ignored his friends when they wanted to play. He just ran off to go to the old building.

A few years later and Erixz was beginning to get impatient. The man had stopped showing him new things. He wouldn't allow him to learn the spells properly. Sure he could read and any book in the library was open to him. But the old man kept other books. Magical books that Erixz wanted to read. He would scratch his head and burst out of the building angrily. The old man was hoarding all his secrets for himself. He scratched his head, wondering how to get at it. He felt an itch in his mind, a curiosity to know what was so precious that the man kept hidden. He couldn't wait. He scratched his head while thinking. He made his way back in and demanded again to get hold of the books the old man was keeping from him but he wouldn't let him. Erixz threw a flash of acid at his face and while he was distracted took the key from around his neck. The old man tried to follow him but could not see properly. The acid had damaged his eyes. They struggled inside the secret room, rolling around, breaking a table as each tried to subdue each other. Several minutes later Erixz got up and dusted himself off. Finally the old man had stopped struggling and lay on the ground too tired to move. He got up and surveyed the room. There was much to discover.

Unfortunately the old man died in the struggle, weak old wizard that he was. When Erixz realised he freaked out and scampered away not daring to return for a week. When he finally forced himself to go back the smell was pretty bad but nothing he hadn't lived with his whole life. He found everything that had been kept hidden from him. In a frenzy he opened and read the first tome, it was almost ecstasy to finally have his hands on what he had been denied for too long. He was there for days, didn't even stop to eat until he had gone through every last bit. He experimented with this new knowledge and crafted his own spellbook full of spells and alchemical formulae for his potions. When he had absorbed all the knowledge he started to get the itch again. The old man wasn't as powerful as he had seemed to be. He needed more, and he could finally get out of these gutters. He set his sights on a wealthy ratfolk merchant, one of few. He offered his services and worked with them for a while before the itch came back. They noticed him acting strangely. Talking to himself sometimes and scratching his head. Whenever they payed him he would disappear for a few days and then come back, seeming normal again but he would never tell them what he was upto.

They grew increasingly worried for him and their own safety. When they saw oneday that the fur on top of his head had been pulled out they confronted him asking what was wrong. He freaked out and tried to attack them saying they didn't understand. They managed to subdue him with only a few scratches and fortunately were not far from Branderscar. They quickly took him there and he was taken as a patient. He never saw them again. Now he is restrained so he can't hurt himself or anyone else. Screaming incoherrant babblings mostly confined alone.

Psych Evaluation:

Ratfolk Patient Erixz
It has been several months now since admittance and we are still unable to accertain any hint to the cause of the patients incessant demands. An interesting case to be sure. He keeps talking about an itch. From the other bits and pieces I suspect he has an acute obsession disorder. Mostly he talks about strange magical phrases and other knowledge. We have kept his possessions and he seems to have been a dabbler in wizardry and alchemy. Most obvious conclusion that I can draw is that he experimented on himself and it went wrong. We hope that with more time he may return to normal though it seems to be getting worse for the moment.

Silver Crusade

psionics?

Sorry, Jonny, but he's not accepting new submissions. It closed yesterday.
And psionics wasn't allowed anyway, so.

@Itches- why do you have it as "advanced ratfolk"? xD

@The Gamemaster in Yellow- That sadism trait is just amazing! Did you make it yourself? or did you find it somewhere? The Google Drive thing sounds cool. Playing as the minions of the PC's sounds really interesting, in a horribly agonizing kind of way. I'm game for it and the organization stuff, whatever it is.

Sczarni

@ Gamemaster

Oh yes, I am still very interested and excited for this game. My character was Charles Caigmore.

I'm fairly certain you're no longer accepting new submissions, but it looks like the fellow running the WotW game I was in has bailed on us, as the game has been removed from my campaigns tab as of today. I'd really like to get in on WotW, but I understand if you want accept my application. While I was in WotW, it pretty much JUST started, which is why I didn't post in to mention I was interested, as I'm a big Lovecraft fan. We had literally JUST escaped the cell, and were in combat with the guards.

On the off chance that you do, this is Soren. She'd need some work to adjust to your character creation guidelines, most just picking an insanity, and her backstory would need just a bit of tweaking, but this is the basic idea. She's a ranged, combat support focused character.

I really hope you can make an exception and consider me for recruitment, but if not, I hope your game goes well.

Yeah I definitely love this idea.

Absolutely still interested! Just keeping quiet during recruitment.

And that's some fierce competition!
Excited to see who makes it.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Whoops! I'll fix that.

I'm there as well but haven't posted my character yet. I'll be looking at a Kineticist|Psychic named Yela & Teilein (split personality)

Hey, I know I officially dropped out but suddenly I got an idea for this. Would I still be in consideration if I posted?

Con is done. Yes. Still interested. Im ok with Document.

Will be active from tomorrow

Missed mine, and yeah I screwed up spells again, I'll sort sort it out if I'm selected at this stage.

The document would be rather interesting and help with immersion.

All the other added goodies and the like just make the game even more appealing to me.

@Gm
What would bonus be for Megalomania?

Patient File:

File name: Patient 25034: Sarhashil
Race: Nagaji
Age: Estimated around late twenties early thirties
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 258 lbs.
Scale color: black
Eye color: Gold
History: Based upon the manacles and eye witness testimonies, the patient in question was likely a slave in the gladiator pits of Cheliax. He has numerous scars, but is surprisingly strong and resilient even for his past.
Symptoms: Regression to a primal state, cannibalism, rage
The patient in question exhibits small lucid windows that show that somewhere inside there is still an intelligent being. However, even during these moments the subject shows that his past has warped his mind to an irreversible state.
He has uncontrollable rage issues. Seemingly the slightest provocations from the orderlies, guards, or other inmates causes him to break out into a fight to the death with his intended target. Subject had to be overpowered by numerous guards multiple times before he was placed in isolation and weighed down with chains.

Diagnosis: Feralization, cannibalism, psychosis

Treatment: Attempts to treat the patient has come up with no real results. He refuses any type of medication and attempts to deliver medication through the food have surprisingly been subverted.
While the patient isn't overtly intelligent, he seems to be able to discern if his meals are tampered with. It's rather remarkable really.
Attempts at consoling the patient has had intermittent results, perhaps a highly intelligent and persuasive person could get through to him or alter his mannerisms and actions but the danger the patient presents have led us to a life of isolation and imprisonment.
Patients is considered a danger to himself and to others around him.

That is now fixed in my character sheet at least

Sovereign Court

Still very interested in this :-)

Not sure if you posted before, I don't want to go read the old posts, but he's closed it to new applicants.

If you did post before, then feel free.
I just didn't look xD

Sovereign Court

I was responding to the fact that he asked people who hadn't posted in a while to post a response showing that they were still around. Although my name was misspelled in the list compiled above, I am very definitely the person who submitted Tyrrol ;-)

Ahhh, didn't even check.

Again, my bad!

Oops. I'm sorry, I thought I proofread it well enough, my bad.

Okay, once I select people for the campaign, I will give everyone a primer on Talingarde that will eventually be the product of several hours of compiling information, copy-pasting information on the major cities, and removing the few spoilers that are well-hidden in the text from said excerpts.

Nathan Monson- Apophania (Umlaut symbol over the second a) is the word that you are looking for to describe your mental disorder. Apophenie is the human tendency to see connections in unrelated things, whereas Apophanie is the term coined by Klaus Conrad to describe when that tendency becomes a psychosis.

Praetorix- The Prophet Story Feat is allowed, as are any other Story Feats that people may wish to take, assuming it fits the campaign.

Lily Vorkink- I am homebrewing all of the Insanity Traits, so all that awesome is solely due to this guy right here!

Korak the Boisterous- Of course you may submit, as you were one of the first people who posted.

Seth86- It would be something to the effect of bonuses to Will Saves and CHA-based skills, but the complete and utter inability to have someone use Aid Another on you, as well as receiving one less point of healing per die.

Does that adequately answer everything?
