Sorry things have been crazy.
Protests died down from the on campus groups but now we are being targeted by off campus groups. My school shut down a couple days, and when open half of everyone is freaking out. We elected to completely change the way we do graduation so that has made my office particularly busy. Oh and some large libertatrian group is staging a protest for Thursday and now a big antifa/progressive group is planning a counter protest. Graduation is on Friday, joy!
Top it off my six year old son has decided to get in on the action of end of the year madness and get kickd out school for behavior stuff and my wife is in the middle of a flare up related to an autoimmune condition she has so she is like running and quarter energy, lol. Rains it pours, that sort of thing.
Ugh. Hope things get better (or at least easier!) for you soon!
Dang, I was going to gripe a bit about what's keeping me from posting, but it's nothing compared to that. Ditto on Kirth's comment.

Chapter 8 (Spells) has been massively revised, and there's also a Spells Grimoire showing how to "build" spells from simple "seed spells" + metamagic feats -- a wealth of options to pique Elabrin's fancy.

This is very nifty. I gave been out of the loop in the Kirthfinder rules thread for a while, and I really appreciate the inclusion of the bestiary.
To allay concerns, I'm not going to be super-strict on which version of the rules the players follow in this PBP. If there are two different versions of a feat, class feature, or whatever, pick the one you like.
I'm sure that most of us are busy, but just in case anyone has the bandwidth to discuss, here's how I see things:
Barring physically defeating/restraining her, we've lost the pirate lady unless the adventure provides a way to gain her favor. I suppose we could tail her.
If anyone has any inclination to get physical, go for it, but I don't know how it will benefit us unless someone tortures Vanthus' location out of her, which I don't see Jym being okay with, at least. I mentioned Captain Van Harden, but I don't really see what he could do about the pirate lady.
Otherwise, we should just move on and see where the adventure takes us. I imagine that we're under a time crunch to be done with Pirate's Cove and get back to warn/defend Lady V, and maybe Van Harden can assist there.
Thoughts?
My understanding is that Uro might have limited posting ability as well. I'm certainly OK with a slower-paced game, and/or one with occasional time lags, if that's what people are able to accommodate.

Hey, sorry all, it's orientation at the university that I work for, so I'm super busy. Hopefully I can get real posts up soon.
Good timing! The forecast for Harvey's landfall went from tropical storm (predicted last night) to major hurricane (as of this morning's forecast). Also, it's predicted to make landfall, turn around, hit the coast AGAIN, and then sit there. Apparently Andostre and I will be in a tropical storm starting tomorrow and ending hopefully Tuesday.
Needless to say, I expect my street to be underwater and the power to be out, so posting might be suspended until things get back to normal.

Just checking in to let you two know that I'm doing fine. I talked with Kirth yesterday, and he's good, too.
Yes! Currently safe and dry at a friend's house in Cypress.
Numerical Trivia: The elevation of our house is between 108.5 and 109 feet. The water level in Addicks Reservoir (adjacent to us) just reached 108.7 feet and rising (estimated peak at 110.4 ft. in the next couple of days), and is already overspilling. That does not bode well for our house when we are eventually able to return...

The national guard evacuated our neighbors last night and this morning. The neighborhood has gone the way of Atlantis and Lemuria. It got a lot of news footage, though!
I was reading your posts in the other thread Kirth, it really sounds like your neighborhood got hammered. I hope some of your stuff is salvageable.

Anyone have any ideas on what to do next? We didn't really explore the cave system much right? Also, it seems like the threat to the Vanderboren family was mostly from the crazy crewless captain that we just left to die right? I don't think there is really much threat there.

I got the impression from crazy captain that she sent her crew to attack Lady V, which is why Jym wants to get back there.
There could be more to explore here in the cave systems, but it seems more likely that we'll find something about the pirates than about Vanthus, unless it's something he's left there very recently. But maybe they have a long relationship, and we'll find something about him because of that.
So, uh, anyone reading the spoilers ("Bad players! Bad!") might be aware that Gwlybwr has suffered a minor setback in his mission to bring peace and justice to Sasserine, resulting in his absence on the trip back to town -- which may or may not even be noticed until you get there. Assuming you don't search the ship and then wait for him (as he himself seemed to indicate you wouldn't think to do), the trip back is uneventful.
But there's also room for another PC when you do get back.
Helio, you've been a joy to have in both PBP games, and I'd love to see you continue without too much pause; if you are interested, you can make up another character and a semi-plausable reason he'd be at the Vanderboren estate -- maybe one of the "Jade Ravens" (Lavinia's B-Team you met earlier), or maybe someone else?
