Still working on it, but I'll make that deadline.
Thanks! And thank you for the nice complement on the rules (of course, I'm well aware that you helped there, too).
Feats:
Spells:
At 3rd level you'll have "0+1" 2nd level spells known (spells table), meaning 0 that you pick, +1 bonus per your class (for the bard, it's suggestion). So, that's an easy choice!
* Have you thought about Canny Defense yourself, in case someone does attack you? (I calculate your current AC 17, touch 15, flat-footed 13. Having 20/18/16 might be nice!) Or maybe Toughness, in case of area-effect damage later on that you can't easily avoid?

Well then.

Wait wait wait. Are you telling me that a situation can exist where Jym's personality makes it less likely that people will hit him?
But seriously, I'm not sure why I skimmed by this. This is the most appealing to me, and I can justify it in my head as working similar to Chaotic Mind, only instead of him being unpredictable, he just annoys attackers to distraction.
Will get him updated ASAP.

Quick question: Does Uro's bonus damage reduction, that he gets from raging, double from his 3rd level Boar Totem ability?
So at 3rd level, while raging, would his DR be 3 or 4?
The rage bonus applies afterward. So you normally get 1x2= DR 2/-, and while raging it's DR 3/-. At 18th, you'll have DR 10/-, and 15/- while raging.

Kirth Gersen |

And another one: The boar totem gets Endurance as a totem skill, but barbarians already get that as a bonus skill. That's not intended, right?
Totem skills don't give free ranks, but do get a sacred bonus to checks, so yes, it is. It's such a minor perk it's included as a "freebie" instead of making you waste a feat or something on it. So you'll have 3 ranks in Endurance (from being a 3rd level barbarian) +3 (class skill) + 3 (Con) + 1 (sacred) = +10 total bonus, instead of +9.

Uro's coming along nicely!

Raging power attack should be +7, unless there's another +1 I"m missing. Then again, you can easily afford 400 numen for a masterwork (or better) greataxe at this point. Shoot, you have so little gear at this point you should be 4th level, like a CR 3 NPC barbarian -- although in the long run it'll be more advantageous to "gear up" than stay a level ahead, so I'd recommend selecting 2,700 gp worth of masterwork and/or magical goodies.
Your skills allotment link is broken; it may be easier to just list (ranks/bonus) next to them: Athletics (3/+10; +9 in armor), etc.
Don't forget that forest favored terrain lets you speak with animals.
You lose the +1 Con/4 levels from your totem in the revision (it's replaced with Stamina Training being one of the totem feats), but as a plus you'll get shiny new abilities at 7th and 11th levels. Starting at 5th level, you'll be pleased to find that your revised rage power scales with level, in both bonus and area of effect.
Instead of the overly-complicated delayed damage pool, you'll just get 3 temporary hp whenever you activate your rage.
You obviously have more bonus feats now; I think you'll end up getting a lot of mileage out of Fast Recovery if you take a breather after every fight.
Thanks for checking him over! Its still a work in progress, so there are a few legacy items in there. My raging power attack was actually the only correct one, haha. The missing +1 is from my weapon focus feat. Should be BAB +3, Str +4, Weapon Focus +1
Deleted the busted URL. Didn't realize it was still in there. Thanks for pointing it out. I just deleted all of my skills to start fresh with all the changes. I just haven't gone through redone them yet.
I didn't realize the speak with animals thing! Nice!
Yeah, I realized the Constitution lose. My Con used to be 18. I reflected that change in my HP, but that's it so far.
Cool! I hadn't gotten to delayed damage pool yet.
I'm really liking that feat. Nice add.
Speaking of feats, I just realized that it would be silly to take Serenity this level since I can't really use it fr anything. I can just take it at 5th, when I go into the Prestige Paladin class. I'll look more into those tomorrow.

Aha! You'll also be pleased to hear that, in the interest of simplicity and consolidation, I've combined Weapon Focus into Weapon Specialization, which now provides +1 to attacks at BAB +1, +6, +11, +16 (max +4), and +1 to damage at BAB +1, +4, +8, +12, +16, +20 (max +6). So your damage will be slightly higher, too.

Jym, it seems like your derby should be 250 (1,000/4 for only 1 of 4 saves = 250). Then again, you have enough mojo now to go the full 1,000 and have it apply to all saves, if you want.
Sorry, about that. Not sure what happened, but Jym was still below par all this time, so maybe I realized it but didn't update?
Anyway, I'm upgrading the derby hat to full resistance +1, and then adding a few more healing potions. I'm still over 1,000 numen shy of par. I'll try and think of something else to add (suggestions welcome), but if I don't by the time we're ready to go, that's fine. Jym might find something along the way.

How would I calculate a +1 vs opposing checks for a particular school?

Jym Withawye |

Done: Jym (unless you want to get some more gear; par for 3rd level is 2,700)
Ha ha, I just saw this. I must have started just before you posted this.

Jym Withawye |

I misspoke because I was in a hurry to get out the door. For calculating personal numen how would I raise the caster level for one particular school? In other words, how would I mimic the Spell Focus feat? Would I treat it as a feat or is there something I'm missing because it's a numerical bonus?

For Spell Focus, yes, you could use the feat pricing: 2,000 numen x any level or skill rank requirement. Since Spell Focus doesn't have any prerequisites, the total cost would be 2,000, to gain a +1 to save DCs for that school.
In Jym's case, it might be more attractive to increase Cha (via enhancement bonus) instead, at 1,000 numen x bonus squared, once you get a little more numen. +2 Charisma not only increases ALL your save DCs by 1, it also applies to Diplomacy checks and bonus spells and so on.
Finally, for caster level, there quite intentionally is no way to increase CL to any value higher than your Hit Dice.

I need more to go on. Do you mean for identifying monsters? Or recalling lore of some lost civilization? There are a lot of different things you can do with different knowledge skills, all spelled out -- in case it's not immediately obvious, they're in with the Craft and Profession skills in the second half of the chapter ("Secondary Skills").

Kirth Gersen |

I didn't remember that the skills are split.
At the time, I just thought it would make the chapter seem better organized, to split them out like that. If the net result is just that it makes them harder to find, then I probably need to rethink that!

Is that what happened? I just assumed there was no activity!

Yes, condolences.

Things are just taking a lot of work to get back off the ground post coming back. Work, home, etc. I'll read up over the weekend and hit the ground fresh on Monday. Apologies for the delay.
Glad to hear that everything is getting back to normal for you man. I know that stuff takes time.

Jym Withawye |

NOICE!

Uro Taraka |

Hey all, I had a family member pass away over this past weekend, so my next few days will be full of family and funeral stuff. This coming weekend is also commencement at the university I work for, which generally takes up a chunk of my time. My posting will be a bit spotty this week as a result. I’ll still check in and post as I can though!

Jym Withawye |

Condolences, man.

Jym Withawye |

Hey, Kirth. I'm at a conference for the next few days that's at the Marriot next to your old place in Westchase. Any recommendations nearby for a quick lunch? The lunch put out by the conference is lacking.

Elebrin Thel |

Echoed Condolences. Having just gone through some of that myself, I know it can be rough in a lot of ways.
I work at a college but have little to do with the commencement piece so I tend to look up from my desk and go Wha huh? When suddenly the students are gone. :p

Jym, sorry for the late reply! I've been on vacation and off the grid pretty much since the last time I posted. Yes, I'd have had a number of recommendations, but I guess it's a moot point now...

It is, but I'll hit you up next time I'm out that way and don't want to eat the convention food. (Two people got sick off the chicken piccata, Tuesday! I was not one of them!)
Hope you enjoyed your vacation!
