Rules related question: If you get rid of magic equipment, do you get back the numen for it? Like if I decided for some reason that Uro didn't want his armor anymore, would he be set back to full Numen/ mojo?
Current HP: 28/28 -- Perc: -1/+1 in cities -- Inspiration: 14/14 rnds -- Vanderboring Estate Map
Yes, you get the numen back when you "unbind" the equipment.
Kirthfinder, p. 602 wrote: Unbinding Items: You can choose to remove
items from your personal inventory, generally to free
up numen. If you do so, the item released can never
again become part of your personal inventory, and in
general won’t even function for you. (If the item in
question is one that you found and “declared” as
magical, it might become non-magical altogether,
once abandoned by you). This is to prevent exploits
such as a character giving away all his gear, spending
his “par” on other stuff, and then re-claiming the
items just laid aside as “found” treasure up to
maximum.

Hey, so I was thinking of using the full defense action for Uro when he jumps over the wall. When I wanted to see how that worked, I checked the rules and only found references to full defense in Hand of Justice [Stance] and Cloaked Duelist [Finesse Maneuver] but no actual action called full defense. Then I tried looking up Full Defense and rules came up under Defensive Fighting. These are probably the same things, right? Should the references in the two Stance descriptions be changed to Full Defense?
..or maybe my brain is just mush right now..

Kirthfinder: DEFENSIVE FIGHTING wrote: You can fight defensively, gaining a +1 dodge bonus to AC, +1 per 4 points of your BAB (to a maximum bonus of +6 at BAB +20). You take a –2 penalty to your attack rolls for every +1 to AC; this applies to every attack you make during a round in which you fight defensively (even attacks of opportunity).
Using the total defense option works similarly, except that you give up your normal attacks for the round and instead gain a +2 bonus to AC, +2 per 4 points of BAB (this requires a full attack action). You can make attacks of opportunity while using total defense, but if you do so, the penalty to attacks is –2 per +2 bonus to AC.
So, if you try and jump the wall and don't attack, you'd be +2 to AC (+4 if you had the Combat Expertise feat).
And, yeah, I definitely need to change any references to "full defense" to "total defense" (or vice-versa) and provide chapter references.
Thanks!

Woot! Graduating this Saturday!

Thanks! It's been a long five years. Nothing like trying to finish your degree while raising kids.

It too forever for me t get my masters after my son was born and I had the class part done! Even just the final thesis project was murder with a kid, lol

So, ummm.. just a head's up, Kirth got banned. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing and we can get rolling again soon.
Ha ha ha! Oh no!
Thanks for the heads up.

It even gives you an error if you try to look at his profile, haha.

What the heck? Why did he get banned? HE's been here like forever...
Edit: And I can see his profile? Its not looking like he was doing anything wrong, lol?
Yeah, I'm not getting the error when I view his profile, either. Maybe he's unbanned, already?
M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3
I'm back, for the time being! They gave me a 2- or 3-day suspension and now I'm apparently on probation -- anything I post in the future that's not PC enough will apparently be deemed a "pattern of unacceptable behavior" and I'll be perma-banned.

Are you able to describe what you posted that got you in such hot water? I was looking at the threads you were in and I didn't see anything too crazy?

An inappropriate quote from my RL game table. They tend to gallows humor and often cross the line as to what constitutes good taste.

Is this new round of flooding I am reading about in Tx hitting your area again?
Not as bad as before, but some parts of it, yes. I think Kirth has been affected by this latest round, but not directly. My family is mostly unaffected, same as last time.

I almost didn't make it home Friday -- three entrances to my neighborhood from the highway -- all three underwater.
Thankfully, the line of constantly-forming thunderstorms that were supposed to continue all night shifted north, so places up there got evacuated.
It's supposed to rain the rest of the week, starting tomorrow, so I guess Highway 6 will end up closed for another month. Hopefully I'll be able to get to work...

P.S. Mrs Gersen was in Seattle all weekend -- had no idea what was going on here. When I filled her in, she said, "Ooh, why don't we move here! It hardly ever floods!" I was like, "Yeah, true, but they have mudslides and volcanoes -- is that really preferable?"
HP 18/18 | AC 12 {16} DR: 3/CI | CMB 2 CMD 14 |Perception +6/+8 {Bright/Not Bright Light}
Volcanoes, meh. Mudslides, a bit. WIND is actually a big thing...like it seemed super silly when I moved here (I coming from the land of softball sized hail and tornadoes) but the wind can get pretty bad. We have our own bouts of flooding. Then there is the lack of ability to handle snow. It comes infrequently but can sorta paralyze things in some areas.
What part of the country are you in?
I've lived in Houston essentially my entire life, and it's only in the past few years that flooding has been this consistent. It's slowly ramped up in the last decade. Part of the problem is that people and infrastructure are so unused to it.

I live in Olympia, WA about 90 miles south of Seattle. I lived closer to Seattle proper but moved down here about 16 years ago. I am a Colorado native born on the deserty Western side but lived in Colorado Springs on the other side where Kansas smashed into the Rockies and weird weather was given.

I've spent a lot of time in Hays, Kansas, and have driven between there and Denver I don't know how many times. Kansas is very pretty, but no way Mrs Gersen would ever consider living there!

If you're up for poor infrastructure and high booze taxes, you are always welcome back in Pittsburgh!

Pittsburgh was, hands-down, the most beautiful city I've ever lived in, and spring in western PA is as beautiful as fall in the Adirondacks -- and that's saying a lot! And, of course, some of the coolest people I've met are there (well, except maybe some ninja turtle avatar guy, but we won't talk about that). But as far as career opportunities for someone in my line of work, Houston or Australia seem to be the places to be.

Its really funny that you say that. A good friend of mine went down to Texas to finish his education in hydrology and now works down there so I have heard your line of comments before (about where you can go and have good opportunities).

Thanks!! Everyone is doing great. Adjusting to life with a newborn has been an adventure so far.
Grats! As the progenitor of two rug rats of my own, I completely understand. Real life comes first for sure. The game will be here, enjoy the baby!

I'll add my congrats as well. I have one and he keeps me plenty busy so I understand delays especially at the start. Ugh sleep was so rough with my kid, lol.

Thanks! Yeah, she's been pretty fussy in the evenings. She was up until like 2 on Monday night. Luckily I had off on Tuesday, since I wake up at 5am..
Also, I feel your pain on the graduation thing. I work at a university too and summers are actually my busiest time of the year.

Hey! +1 for Higher Ed workers. I always tease my peers because I never interact with the students in any real way and then when everyone is talking about relaxing because they are gone I start babbling about financials and end of year transactions and what not, lol.
M Goblin Beer Snob 1/Freethinker 3
Baby Gersen was up a lot at first as well. When she finally got big enough to sleep in her own room, things got a LOT better -- she immediately took to it and slept like, well, a baby.
For both of my kids, they were ready to sleep by themselves before my wife and I were ready. We thought it would be disastrous if it happened too soon, so we allowed it to be later than it needed to be.
