Everyone starts the game with 1, so Uro has 2 total.
Remember, although you accumulate them by doing cool stuff, they don't automatically get replaced when used.
Thanks for the PM, Kirth. I've been mostly off Facebook for a couple weeks while I was on vacation. I've been back for a few days, but I haven't tried to tackle the 180whatever number of "notifications", yet. I'm back in.
Perhaps a hero point could convince Kirth that the natural 20 on Tombrose was just a figment of his imagination? Though a timely intervention from our Well Read friend with a positive energy burst would do the trick too.
It died stillborn when I moved, and somehow got resurrected.
If you guys wanted to continue the other PBP game, I'd totally be up for that, too - let me know.
I apologize to my players and GMs, but I am dropping all my play-by-post games in order to focus on some stuff going on at home and work. I thank everyone for the opportunities and once again apologize for any disappointment, frustration, or other negativity this causes. -Stratton aka Reckless
Real life happens -- thanks for letting us know, and for the record, I've really enjoyed having you in the PBP. If things clear up at your end, feel free to drop a note here and I'll be happy to come up with some way to get Tombrose back into the action.
Hey all, sorry I've been quiet. I've been settling into a new job, and my sleep schedule is a little off kilter at the moment. I'll try to get a post up tonight, even if it's short!
Sorry to have you go, Reckless, but it's totally understandable. Take care!
I mentioned it to Kenderkin, too -- if you guys are interested, I'd be on board with resurrecting our PBP as well. Work and life have improved drastically in the last 6 months!
Hi indeed. I'd definitely be interested in reviving Aviona. My RL PRG group dissolved about a year and half ago and I've had the itch to play something strong lately. Boardgames are fun and all, but a body wants more. Let me know if/when you rouse the rest of the cast.
Good to hear that things have stabilized. Moved my family recently, as we needed more space, and I'm enjoying the last few weeks of this internship. Only 2 more semesters and I'll have slain the albatross. As much as I enjoy school, it will be really satisfying to have finished, or rather reached a good point for a hiatus.
I'm interested in Savage Tide, as its something I've wanted to run for a while. I'm especially interested in your bestiary work, as that would certainly simplify conversions.

If you haven't read to much of the AP, it seems we're short one player just now and the others might be looking to recruit someone...

Sweet, thanks.
So, I have a ... strange ... character idea. I've wanted to play a paladin in kirthfinder for a while, and I think this is the opportunity I've been waiting for.
Rough character concept/origin story:
Gwlybwr ('Wilbur'):
Sasserine orphan, mostly grew up on streets. Sometimes cared for by selfless man who looks out for the weak and discarded youth of the city. Selfless man is former Fist of Zuoken, teaches orphan some skills to defend himself. Once orphan older, now-old-but-not-too-old selfless man dies under violent circumstances. Orphan mourns mentor's loss, vows vengeance, but has other obligations - caring for the discarded children. Some few years later, he contracts skin-scabbing illness (or so he believes) and undergoes hideous transformation, emerging with fishy features. Children now afraid of him, unwilling to come to him for help. Deprived of purpose, old thirst for vengeance awakens, ignited by discovery of mentor's journal, describing bad blood between Zuoken & Scarlet Brotherhood.
Seeking: justice/vengeance for massacred master, understanding/cure for his condition
Mechanically: Human > Monk > Paladin
GM Only:
Intended secret backstory, unknown to character: Mother was assaulted by skum, abandoned child. Skum transformation ongoing.
Parentage open to GM modification to fit story.
Secret Brotherhood connection entirely open for GM modification.
"Dreams of R’lyeh" related to Savage Tide

No, they aren't. Working on the write-up during lunch. Don't expect to be able to post much in the evenings or weekends, so I'm trying to get it done before I leave today.
Reading the first part of your background, it's hard not to click on the other spoilers.
Uro is going Barbarian > Paladin, so it'll be interesting to see the differences with or characters.
As a side note, Aux, I just noticed your Rappan Athuk thread -- silverhair2008 there was one of the Kirthfinder Alpha playtesters, along with our own Andostre (who popped in for parts of the Beta playtesting as well).

Ah, I was not aware of that Uro.
I thought that monk/paladin would be cool, but I think monk might be just as cool all by itself. I'll probably steer clear of paladin since you're already going that route.

Doesn't matter either way to me! Play what you'll have fun with!
Haven't done a careful check of the math yet, but on the surface, the character looks really good. I especially like how you're synergizing spear feats, and of course I appreciate the "insert free DM hook here" in the background.
As a side note, I'm aware that the sustenance sutra needs to be beefed up at the "superior" step, but I'm still at a loss for what to add without stepping on the affliction-reducing sutra. Luckily, we've got a few levels to go before we need to worry about that.

Thanks! Fishy is what I was going for.
I'm planning to be competent at both spearfighting and unarmed combat, but also with plenty of movement/scouting capabilities. Given the AP's coastal setting, I figure water will play a part in most scenes, so I'm prepared for that.
As for the hook, I figure the events in the backstory are quite recent, so it's already nicely baited.
On the sustenance sutra: in the table of sutras, the brief description is "Go without air, food, sleep". In the full description, it reduces need for food, water, and air, but not sleep. Perhaps the superior step can eliminate the need to sleep. And yeah, it's going to be a while yet before that matters.
