Just a note for all applying, but if anyone wants to play a Jedi-in-hiding and thinks that more than one is too much for the party, I can easily play Nyla instead of Cora. Both are concepts I'd like to play, and both are actually the same age.
Cora used to be a 'face' character with Force Persuasion, but I switched her to be more of the Sentinel path and be a sneaky character.
Nyla is just a Force-sensitive Mandalorian soldier/Nite Owl hopeful with skills in telekinesis and a future penchant to Force-move grenades as she shoots baddies with her carbine. She's also somewhat inspired by FemShep (Vanguard class) from Mass Effect.

You know, my biggest gripe with the Saga Edition is that they seemed to force Jedi into skill/feat taxes. In order to be skilled in the Force, you need to devote a skill point into Use the Force, pulling it away from any other skills you might be interested in spending said point. Also, a Jedi NEEDS to take the Force Training feat to even be able to accomplish any Force powers. The funny thing is, Force Training isn't even on their list of bonus feats. Jedi is literally a soldier with different talent trees, a lightsaber, and a free extra feat (Force Sensitive).
I think next time I run a SWSE game, Jedi gain an automatic point in Use the Force every level (which I already have done in games I've tried), and they gain Force Training at 1st level as well.

Hilariously, you get access to most of those talent trees just by taking the Force Sensitivity feat.
The funny thing is, Force Training isn't even on their list of bonus feats.
I think that was done because you can keep taking Force Training and getting 3-5 powers every time you take it, so they wanted it to be something that you have to spend actual feats on instead of just "oh I can take this every other level and have all the powers." Which I kind of get, but I agree that you absolutely should get it as a free level 1 feat.
Aside from the Jedi stuff, it's also weird to me how much Saga basically requires Multiclassing, but still punishes you for it. Base attack bonuses aren't fractional, it costs a feat per skill to both add them to your class list and train in them.
Basically what you've pointed out, in addition to the setting, is why I'm going Force-Sensitive Noble instead of Jedi.

I actually like the way Saga handles multi classing. Most of the characters I make end up multi classed. There are some pretty good combinations. I admit having to take the skill training feat is a pain but you also get a free feat when you multi class and you get so many more feats in Saga.
Jedi have a lot of opprortunities to pick up talents that allow them to replace skills with Use The Force. This can be pretty potent, especially if you select skill focus Use the Force.
There is a Noble Talent in the Starships of the Galaxy book called Engineer that automatically trains you in Mechanics and reduces the time it takes to install starship systems. (The Educated Talent is a prerequisite)
In saying all that. Everyone go ahead and pick an extra skill (Can be a non class skill). Have the skill fit your background somehow.

I will be using This errata document
I don't want everyone to have to trawl through it though. The main fixes I'll be using are the stun fixes and the cover fixes.
Recruitment will close on Wednesday the 6th
To be considered you should have the following complete
-Short Backstory, this doesn't need to be super detailed.
-Character 'Crunch' mostly complete,
~~You may leave one or two skill slots free if you like to fill in once you know who the other characters will be.
~~Also You don't have to fill out you equipment section completely either.

Fractional BAB is something I've recently begun looking into for my Saga games as well. As for the multi class skill issue, one of my house rules is that when you multiclass, you can take Skill Training in one of your new class skills, instead of a starting feat, since sometimes those feats don't always fit your character concept.
As for Force Training, I'm perfectly happy with it not being free or a bonus feat. It's a balancing technique. Investing heavily in Force powers leaves you deficient in other areas. It avoids the issue the d20 version has, where Jedi can be good at everything and have Force powers to boot.
Edit: And trained Gather Information. He's got some questionable connections.

Oh great! Thanks Kip! I'll hold off on the extra skill to see what's necessary. I am on the fence between Use Computer, Stealth, and Treat Injury. Failing at all of those, perhaps Jump.
Likewise I still have a ton of credits to spend which I'll likely hold onto for now. Otherwise, I think I'm finished. I may end up adding more to the personality / backstory, but I was trying to keep it from not being a novel.

I definitely love the hell out of that houserule in our other game.

Okay, I'll concede these points on Force Training. Thinking about it, it does seem pretty strong. Personally, I like traits, so I'll make a trait that allows a Jedi, or Force Sensitive character, to select one Force power. Force Training remains the same.
Hrm, for Cora I'll be going with Stealth. (her reworked background has her kinda sneaky).
As for Nyla, I'm not sure yet.

Oh, actually, with the extra skill I think I'm gonna go back to my original concept and play a Bothan. I've got a backstory in mind either way, but I like Bothans a lot more than Togruta, and I'll get to play with it a little more. And now I can grab Gather Information to make the species bonus useful!
Warhawk7 |
After reading the X-Wing novels and other "Legends" novels, and dealing with Borsk Fey'lya and his "many of my people died getting the information about the second Death Star, and no I won't accept any nonsense about the plans being deliberately fed to us because I'm a pompous jerk and anti-human racist bigot" attitude, I grew to dislike Bothans. Not to stop you from playing one though.
6SYL |
I am aware of the Engineer talent, it just seems like a bit of a shoehorn (and I don't think it appeared until after the Tech Specialist feat had been around a while - since that first appeared in the Web Enhancement which came out very shortly after the core book, iirc.
I'm not sure on taking Mechanics as a bonus skill anyway, though it would be useful for emergency self-repairs. I think I will follow the trend and keep my bonus skill for when the party is picked (though in reality I'm happy to change a lot of elements to fit the party better, if required).

Alright, I've ultimately decided against the Bothan again. I actually do like Togruta the more I look at them, and it offers some interesting ideas for the character. That and the public outcry is tremendous, and I won't be asked to give my life just to get some plans, hehe.
Slight updates to the character sheet, mainly with regards to credit spending, and a short backstory below. I'm planning on writing up a longer description and/or RP example in the coming days as well, but here's what's needed for the actual recruitment, as far as I understand it. If anything's up, any questions, from player or GM, let me know!

He learned this first near the beginning of the Clone Wars, when he was still little more than a child. His mother had risen to some political power in one of Shili's cities, thanks to her skill and invidiualism, but her rise to power did not come without the usual dangers. Sensing impending threats from her political enemies, Avizzi's mother sent him on a journey to prove himself and claim adulthood: a one-way trip to a far-off world with no credits or equipment. When he returned with a bounty, he would be a man full-grown. The world in question was Brentaal IV, an entirely different kind of jungle and hunting ground than Avizzi's home.
In these past three years, Avizzi has spent his time hunting and working his way up from nothing. He's picked up entire new skills in this urban environment, learning to repair mechanical finds, although higher computers and piloting are still beyond him. With the rise of the Empire, though, things are rapidly changing in Avizzi's territory. During the brief but violent conflict on Brentaal, Avizzi had remained a neutral element, but the pickings from that battle had been growing slimmer over time. Worse still, the new Imperial interest in the trade hub Brentaal presents had led to more and more trouble for scavengers like him. Even when he did his best to stay legitimate, Avizzi was considered little better than a common criminal, and after his bounty was confiscated for the second time, it was obvious things were going downhill. He's decided to try his luck on another planet, figuring it wouldn't violate the grounds of his trial: when the pickings are too slim in one region, you move to new hunting grounds. For now, that means Sel Zonn Station, since his funds are low thanks to recent troubles, but at this point he'll head anywhere that offers better prospects... even if it means going against the Empire.

Yeah, I saw it just after posting... sorry to have lost the deadline, but Christmas time kept me busy, just in a game about star wars, one of my wish games!
If any spot becomes open, I'll be pleased to submit a PC!
Thanks and good game to the lucky ones!
