[PFS2, playtest] PFS2 1-23: Star-crossed Court (Battlecry!)

Recruitment

I am recruiting for a Battlecry! playtest session of the repeatable level 3-6 scenario, 1-23: Star-crossed Court.

I will be speedrunning this scenario, which means that I will focus on the rules and mechanics. I will expound very little outside of the pre-written text. However, feel free to be as colorful and descriptive as you want in your posts. I will also skip/delay anyone who has not responded to a prompt in >24 hours.

I will also take a note from rainzax and request anyone playing a playtest character agree to post verbatim the rules text for any ability they are using (spoilered or otherwise).

I won't know how many playtest characters I'll allow until the document drops. Once I've seen the document, I will post a list of playtest options.

For example only, at baseline:
1 Commander
1 Guardian

This is not a first come first seated recruitment. I will arbitrarily select from interested players.

I'll reserve for rainzax 1 seat and first pick of playtest options since he's running a playtest and eagerly awaiting someone to recruit to a playtest.

Horizon Hunters

Expressing interest in the Commander, which this character will strongly consider retraining into!

I'd like a try with the guardian

For 1-14, I expressed interest in Guardian, but here I'll take either. I have played 1-23 before but it's a repeatable so I don't have to spend a replay.
Posting the ability makes a lot of sense, especially since everyone is learning it. Action economy cost too.

Interested. would play with Hancock (Barbarian level 5) or a playtest character. No preference because I know little about them.

Verdant Wheel

I'm playing the Commander in Rainzax's playtest, but I haven't played this scenario before.

I'd join with my monk, who played the first Star-Crossed scenario.

I can play either a level 3 witch, or level 6 sorcerer.

GM, I am building this character as a Level Three, unless I can spring for Level Five!

I've skimmed the playtest document, and neither class have subclasses, so I'll be sticking with 1 Commander (rainzax) and 1 Guardian (TBD).

I'll start May 2nd. I'll leave recruitment open for tomorrow, though I know neither playtests nor speedruns are for everyone so this might be all the interested parties.

Playtests can be 1st, 3rd, or 5th. I picked this repeatable to allow for the option of 3rd or 5th. Take your pick, but it looks like the non-playtest options could skew high.

GM - I settled on Level Three, and don't mind playing up if that's where we go!

Trying to figure out my banner situation and then ready to roll.

I could switch to a Cleric or Fighter if a level 2 character is more desirable.

This is a 3-6 scenario. Also I prefer level 5 to see how the playtests do at higher levels. If Paizo wants good feedback the higher levels will show it as well.

For me, I am interested in both satisfying my quest to discover my character as well as doing the playtest due fidelity. If you look at Hisaki's posting history, he is already a "commander" in terms of how I played him (squeezing the mechanics from a Bard chassis) - as such, I am over the moon that "his class" is finally being printed - and jumping at the opportunity to playtest.

So, 3rd level because comparing the two tiers in this scenario, the two extra levels do not really add anything "interesting" that his 3rd level character does not essentially already possess. Because I am planning on taking the Scout archtype - Playtest and after Battlecry is sanctioned - exploring the class feats past 1st level is not something I'm going to be able to provide feedback on for the playtest. Which, because I really want to make a Commander Scout out of Hisaki, is a compromise I am making.

Too, hanging onto a dangling credit that applies later is a complication I'd like to minimize - this scenario will bring him to exactly 36xp right after he receives GM credit for a Three Shot I am running irl ("March of the Dead") - meaning that the next time I play him in PFS in 2025, he will be level four - his "sweet spot" if you will.

So yeah, plus if we play up, I am excited to see if Commander actually shines as a lowest-tier character - as well as "inverting" the power dynamic of any "mentor" boons he is provided by roleplay ("Why is my mentee telling me what to do!?"). So, please don't pull any punches on my behalf - I am happy to play in a party of all 6th level characters!

=)

I'm going to take a table of 4.

rainzax (Commander 3)
Saashaa (Guardian ?)
Mitike (Barbarian 5)
Mitch (Witch 3 or Sorcerer 6)

You're not locked into those characters if you want to make any switches, that's just what you posted interest with.

We'll start tomorrow, but Gameplay is open for dotting.
