About Darinius

The fact that Darinius seems not to have found his true purpose in life barely shows through his sure and regal bearing. Tall and solidly filled out, he stands ramrod straight with his golden hair and something about him seems to almost hum with energy. Despite his best efforts to project his considerable personality in a confident fashion there is something about him unsure, as though he were incomplete in some way and lacking purpose. That is, if in fact his flashy cloak and smile are in fact just a projection of the personality he wants to have and cover up a deep well of insecurity.

Background:

When Darinius discovered his draconic heritage, he expected to become a sorcerer, the first in centuries in his family. When the expected magical talent did not appear, Darinius realized that even among others with draconic powers he would not fit in. He begged and worked his way on the trails of anyone who he thought could help him finish realizing his inborn ability; from self proclaimed holy men to arcane researchers. In all this time the only clue he found was an antique spear which he stole because the design of exotic dragons decorating it gave him a strange sense of deja-vu. Finally, tired of disappointment and being taken advantage of as a research subject he came to this corner of Varisia; finally willing to let fate and a cause find him. He would have left Sandport long ago if he did not have the nagging suspicion that Amieko and the was the key which could mentor him and guide him towards discovering exactly where his unusually manifested draconic powers come from and how to unlock their full potential.

Character Notes (DM Only):

Darinius' backstory is kind of short since for a 1st level character I prefer to sketch out some characterization notes to start RP rather than have a whole book of backstory for a 1st level character like a lot of people do.

Darinius has a huge inferiority complex about having an obvious draconic heritage but not yet being able to cast spells, since he has bloodline abilities but no caster levels yet. Does not particularly like other arcane spellcasters therefore and tends to be snarky about it. He tends to be a little nasty at first but then should warm up.

The only clue that Darinius really has about his heritage is that it might have something to do with Tian Xia. Therefore he tries to get the attention of people who might know something about that part of the world by trying to speak Tian, even though he does not really know the language and only has a Tian-Common dictionary to go off of.
He also has been borderline badgering Amieko and any other Kaijitsu siblings since they stand out as Tian. They probably have not taken notice of him yet, beyond the fact that he is being kind of weird about it.

Exiel might have something to say about Darinius’ spear and Darinius may or may not know this.
