A feminine and soothing voice is heard echoing through the ship:
“Attention passengers, this is M2, your ship’s artificial intelligence. Scans indicate that a handful of pets have escaped their cages and are running loose. If you spot one of these errant animals, please contact the nearest porter robot. Thank you.”
You open the door and can see a hallway that is quite pretty but slightly tacky in that 'cruise ship' kind of way. He can see several sealed doors in the hall.

No longer needing help deciding who to smash, Nako remembers her position in the chain of command. "OK... lets check all of these doors and make sure none of em are gonna asplode. Then we go through everywhere on the ship 'till we find captain! Gree?"
She walks straight up to the first door and points. "Dakoyo, check this door! Please. Thank you!"
Nako seems to have a hard time giving orders with the same emphasis as the captain. No matter how hard she tries.
Recommending SOP for doors:
Nako orders Dakoyo to check for traps.
If there are traps, Nako orders Quonx to disarm.
Nako tests the door.
If the door is locked, Nako orders Quonx to unlock.
All orders followed with 'please' and 'thank you.'

"How thoroughly do you wish me to check the door? I mean, I could take DAYS figuring it out but I don't think the Captain has that much time if he's in trouble?" Dakoyo inquires as they space out a little bit.
There's this neat aspect of the 'oneness' of doors and how they always seem to come together in a cosmic unity, separating for a time before rejoining in closure once more...

Dako checks the doors, takes a minute on each to be reallysure.
He can hear nothing beyond the door on the port or far end, but behind the starboard door he can hear muted conversations. Nothing seems to have a trap.

Locke comes to, slowly.
"It has all gone wrong. Recently, Trendsetter Excursions attempted a bold experiment outfitting, the Emerald Empyrean, with a state-of-the-art artificial intelligence. The AI was granted control over every aspect of the trip including all of the vessel’s onboard computers and robots, that allowed for just a skeleton crew to keep things running smoothly, but the AI, M2, has developed a major glitch."
"Due to an unprecedented math error in its programming, M2 decided that the ship’s intended destination would not be relaxing enough for its passengers and rerouted the Emerald Empyrean to a section of empty space outside of the Pact Worlds system"
"When we realized something was wrong, it was already too late. M2 had already maneuvered the Emerald Empyrean out of the Pact Worlds and into Near Space, where it would take days for help to arrive. In the meantime, the AI grew increasingly erratic, shutting down portions of the ship and slipping sedatives into the food to keep the passengers “relaxed.” The AI even directly attacked the crew members
who attempted to repair her computer core".

He pauses for a moment and looks back to the survivors. "Maybe you should put some things in the doorway and close the door until we come back and give six our-sized knocks on the door? That way you're safe but not open to further attack and we can help even more with exploring!"
"...nufriend Locke, do you have a floorplan of this vessel so we know what rooms are which, or could you tell us? It would make it easier so we don't accidentally open a bad compartment!"
