I guess it depends on what the culture/s in your novel is/are based upon Torfrun? It can be a bit dicey incorporating non western cultures into works, so my biggest suggestion would be to ensure that you get some Beta readers from that culture to vet things for you.
Out of, well, pure nosiness, are you a member of any writing groups? The most helpful thing in my own occasional writing aspiration was joining Critters, an online site where people exchange reviews on each other's work. Its a fair bit of work doing the reviews, but that in itself is a useful process that helps your own writing, and there is some really great stuff on there.

Torfrun |

I've heard of Critters, but I'm not currently a member. As far as the cultures I was thinking about, I was thinking cultures from southeast asia, india, and china. The population pressures there are probably going to drive most of those people out into any colonies. The other main influence on Post Diaspora cultures is going to spanish speaking cultures, for much the same reason, population pressure and shear numbers.
sorry if it's a little rambly; it's late over here and I'm having issues thinking coherently at the moment.

Maybe consider Singapore as a basis? Given its small size it is marginally more bitesized than most cultures, and has some very interesting political dynamics, as well as a high population density. Plus it should be fairly easy to get in contact with Singaporeans on the net since the vast majority speak English. Plus I have not seen it done, Hong Kong, Japan, and China seem to be the go tos.

My apologies for threadjacking - blame lack of sleep.
Unfortunately, it's now obvious that normal service is not going to be resumed any time soon and that my workload is going to involve a lot more travel (among other things).
I'm going to have to withdraw from this game. I realise that isn't great on top of the other recent withdrawal, but I wouldn't be able to post frequently enough to keep things moving.
Sorry about this -best wishes to all.

Sorry to see you go Karathiel!
So, now we are at 4... 2 rangers, a druid and an oracle. I still think that we can continue without another player with just a little change...
With two rangers, we have plenty skills and both Tamas and Cethel can handle the healing pretty well. If Tamas focus more on offensive spells, we would also be ok with magic damage.
Another good option would be for Trofrun to switch from a switch-hitter build (I assume you are going for it) for a more melee oriented one. I'd offer myself to do so but for this I'd have to completely rework Evalina. This would give us Torfrun and the Stegosaurus in the melee (and perhaps Tamas), with Evalina and Cethel as ranged/spell support.

Evalina Braeton |

Torfrun, perhaps the GM would allow you to retrain these feats... we'd have enough time for that.
According to the ultimate campaign book, it costs you 10gp x your level x the number of days required. Retraining a feat takes 5 days and also a mentor. IMO it would be easy for the GM to have one of the other NPCs to have the required feats, and the gold pieces could be 'acquire' with your profession (cook). Thematically you'd make food and the 'mentor' would help you.
Another idea would simply allow you to change your feats since you actually never used them before, right?

Tamas Dolchescu |

Well Tamas is a melee druid, the only druid offensive spells he would be pretty bad at, but not sure I see a need for offensive spells at this point? The most useful spell here would seem to be entangle, to allow us to hamper large groups of enemies and I'll certainly have that prepared from now on. Honestly at low levels it generally seems the more melee the better, and in an outdoor environment we should not get in one another's way too much.
Unless anyone particularly wants a change up I would say we are pretty strong for a low level party.

GM of the Apes |

Hey guys,
Just a heads up, I'm going to be in an internetless place between tomorrow and probably the 9th. No posts until then, unfortunately. Hopefully I can get a post up before I leave tonight, but if not, have a happy 4th (even if it doesn't mean anything to you), and I will catch you all in a week!
PS. Torfun can change her feats to better suit the party. No worries!

Evalina Braeton |

Hi guys, everything is alright? Everyone still here?

Evalina Braeton |

Hum... so we are now at 3 and I believe there is no way to play with such few players. How are we going to proceed?

Evalina Braeton |

I think so... just waiting for Cethel to see if he is also still with us. Would you prefer to re-pick from those same players or open recruitment once more?
I believe that one skill monkey would be nice but there are only two remaining players in that category and perusing through their campaigns it looks like they both are 'one-line posters' if you know what I mean.

GM of the Apes |

I think I'd like to get two more. Front-liner? Skill monkey? Arcane type? What are your opinions?

Evalina Braeton |

I'd vote for a skill monkey and a front-liner in this case.
Tamas and his round pet plus a nice front-liner would be good enough to give Evalina in ranged all the time and also protect Cethel. This also frees the skill monkey to be either melee or ranged.

GM of the Apes |

I sent him a message yesterday and haven't heard back. It looks like he hasn't posted since the 9th. I'll give him another day or two.

Evalina Braeton |

If Cethel is also out we'd need three more players. What ware your thoughts about how to introduce new players? It looks like more and more a completely new recruitment would be favorable...
It looks like the island is getting really crowded with NPCs... how about we 'restart' with the new party? It is not the most gracious approach but might payoff in the long run since it would be cumbersome for you (GM) to handle so much people around, unless you intend to make the island particularly grizzly with tons of deaths!

Tamas Dolchescu |

We are probably at an early enough point that it makes sense for them to be survivors on the ship not rescued by our mysterious benefactor yet. I am not keen on reprising. We can just say their unconscious and trapped under a piece of sail so we discover them only after we begin to strip supplies from the ship.

GM of the Apes |

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to shutter the game. Things have taken a turn in my personal life, and I don't have the time or energy to play too many games lately.
Thanks for playing and I'm sorry we couldn't do more.

Evalina Braeton |

No problem at all GM! Good luck with whatever is hampering you!
