Similarly, a martial warforged like my original character in this game is kinda akin to Gauntlet - which was fine when were in separate parties/tables…
I’m a little lost on what to play currently.
We have B, we're fine for scouting unless you really want to, in which case you'll have a buddy to scout with you xD

Hate it when that happens.
Shifter cleric sounds fun. :)
GM, all the possible plot hooks in Brennus backstory were deliberate, feel free to integrate any you wish. ;)
I'm thinking I'll hold off on spending Brennus's starting gold--he could pick up spells in a spellbook or wands and scrolls to help cover any gaps we end up having.

I love Shifters!
=)
Cleric...it would be weird if you were a Cleric of the Silver Flame since they basically started off as werewolf hunters or something like that!
As far as Archtypes go, the only one I've ever seen anyone play is the Ecclesitheurge.
So assuming the Sovereign Host then?
Any one God Specifically?
Arawai, the Sovereign of Life and Love, the patron of fertility. She represents the benign side of nature and brings good weather and bountiful harvests.
Aureon, the Sovereign of Law and Lore. Believed to be the first wizard, he revealed the secrets of magic to the world.
Balinor, the Sovereign of Horn and Hunt, the patron of those who follow the border between nature and civilization. He guides hunters and wild beasts alike.
Boldrei, the Sovereign of Hall and Hearth. She is guide and protector of family and community and encourages folk to work together for the good of all.
Dol Arrah, the Sovereign of Sun and Sacrifice. She represents wisdom in battle and is patron of those who seek justice, fight with honor, and make sacrifices for others.
Dol Dorn, the Sovereign of Strength and Steel, the patron of the ordinary soldier. He represents bravery, strength, skill at arms, and aids those who wield weapons.
Kol Korran, the Sovereign of World and Wealth, guide and protector for traders and travelers and supporter of fair negotiation.
Olladra, the Sovereign of Feast and Fortune, the patron of entertainers, gamblers, and risk-takers. She bestows luck and spreads joy.
Onatar, the Sovereign of Fire and Forge. He inspires all who create and aids artificers, craftsmen, and smiths.

I had a PC that was exactly this build, was a Herald Caller Archtype though. Unfortunately, I was never able to play him long term.

Shining Host, tending toward Arawai and Dol Arrah.
Going with the Child of the Pits alternate racial trait, and taking the Large template.
The character doesn’t know who but *someone* tried to create a race of Large shifters, possibly as a counter to Warforged. Could have been a secret cabal of Cyre-funded bio-artificers trying to find a way to ease reliance on House Cannith; some say it was Thranites of the Silver Flame trying to guide the blood of shifters to a more tractable anti-lycanthropic army - whoever it was, not many were “made” and this one, after the war’s dust settled found themself sold off as misbegotten materiel, cast-off of war, raised in gladiatorial pits in far-flung regions of Khorvaire*.
And all the while, the spirits of air and sky, earth and sea, the gods above and below, whispered to them. And though dark and light whispered both with rationale and guile and promises and lies, ultimately the Shining Host seemed most…amenable.
* If Storyteller Shadow is of course, ok with the Large template, and the rumors… ;)

Basic languages like elven, orc, goblin, gnoll, gnome, and halfling are always good ones to take.
Draconic is of course a very important ancient language in Eberron.
Location based languages are:
Khorvairan Common, for those from Khorvaire or Stormreach (Most PCs speak this)
Riedran Common, for those from Reidra or Adar
Argon Common, for those from Argonnessen
Weird ones to take:
Giant
Ancient Giant/Cyclops
Aklo - (apparently for Evil fey in Eberron)
Irial - Positive outsiders of Irian
Kythric - (aka Protean)Chaotic outsiders of Kythri
Mabran - Shadow outsiders of Mabar
Necril - Necromancers and the undead
Quor - Quori and natives of Dal Quor
Undercommon - Khyber followers
The Eberron conversion link provided has a complete list under Skills.

Looking at Frank's equipment, he may have more loot than his fair share.
I'm guessing Gauntlet would like
"an essence node" (of Blinding) (Warforged Component, EE or Gauntlet took it...) (loot)
which we found. Should I just do a rebuild of Frank's equipment with the same budget as everyone else? XD

Leave as is, tally up the value if you don't mind. Gauntlet, if you could do the same and we can see what, if any increase, makes sense for the newcomers.

The Marked DM |

Essence Node of Blinding Warforged Component
This warforged component adds the “blinding” quality to the armored body of the warforged. Twice per day, the node can produce a flash of blinding light. Everyone except the wearer within 20-feet must make a Reflex save vs. DC 14 or be Blinded for 1d4 rounds. This warforged component is embedded in the body slot of the PC’s neck, taking up the slot of an amulet, brooch, medallion, necklace, periapt, or scarab.

This was discovered in Whitehearth.
Getting some time to read through the most recent thread due to this procedure. That means I may be able to have thing sup and running if PCs can be up and running by next weekend

Frank E. |

well, Frank was carrying the team loot, so over 8k gp worth of stuff is probably too high and includes shares of lewt for others.
exact amount depends on the values of:
. arcane signet ring of House Cannith (loot)
. House Cannith signet ring (loot; x2)
. "an essence node" (of Blinding) (Warforged Component, EE or Gauntlet took it...) (loot)
...maybe that last one should count as part of Gauntlets equipment xD
I think this is also before the 1k from rescuing people, so Frank's gold without giving cuts of treasure to the no-longer present teammates would be over 9000 xD
edit: 73 sp short of 11700gp + the valuation of those signet rings (assuming we don't keep 'em)
(and to reiterate: this is largely due to unsplit team loot, maybe the easiest thing is to just take 1/5th of the value of the unsplit loot and Gauntlet gets the same?)

Assume that all Loot that should have been split WAS split with the now former teammates BEFORE that latest job you all took to go to the Fallen District for the Aristocrat. So yes, you and Gauntlet each receive 1/5th of that loot. You can also both add 200 GP for successfully completing the latest mission down to Colrac Hall.
Let's assume for now that each of you also retain the House Cannith signet rings, as momentos and the Arcane Houe Cannoth Signet ring would look just lovely on Broulnindre no?
Next weekend when I set up the Gameplay thread, I will include a spoiler of the story thus far which is NOT necessary for new PCs to know as it will all be explained in exposition as the new game moves forward.
We will jump 6 months to the First Day of Vult in the Year 998 YK. Thus, only one month to go until the new year, 999 YK!

Frank E. |

Using this as a reference & multiplying by 2/3rds (2/day instead of 3/day), it might be worth around 3200gp
Though the blinding is stronger, it also affects allies.
Also race restriction...
Unless told otherwise I'll just guess a nice round 3k, which would make for 1500 more loot, which would bring each share to 2096, or 596gp plus the essence node for Gauntlet :D

Gauntlet of Sharn |

Most of Gaunlet’s money was tied into his Wand Sheath upgrade (4k gps) that he bought.
Most of the rest of his items are low-cost things like potions and such. I will try and get a total soon.

Brennus, Arcane Raven |

11700 gp isn't that much more than the 10500 gp which the wealth by level table says is standard for 5th level, I'm not that worried about it. Of course as a spellcasting raven Brennus is the least interested in spending money on gear, except for the fact that he'd like a spellbook with Every Spell because he's like that. :D

Broulnindre |

after accounting for the split, looks like it's just over 9k gp worth of bought stuff xD
Must've missed some fancy loot from Colrac Hall :P

Frank E. |

Frank and B will just have to do some magic capital->magic item crafting shenanigans to catch up in wealth, then xD

Frank E. |

well, Frank can just barely afford mithral after all the lewt sharing, so I'm happy regardless :D

Brennus, Arcane Raven |

Yep, Brennus is ready other than finishing his purchases! I may hold off on finishing spending money until I know exactly what everyone else is doing, he'll be spending some on his spellbook and some wands and scrolls to help cover any magical gaps in the party.

Gauntlet of Sharn |

Gauntlet would simply save his money and use it for helping Mickey P and look to the future.
There is also a Manual/Tome I mentioned in my last PM to you GM. Let me know what you think on that?

Frank E. |

Gauntlet of Sharn wrote:Apologies. Im still a bit confused. Did I get more coinage? Or do I need remove some?I'm probably going to award more, just haven't gotten to it yet.
The more I remember the game before this rebooting, the more I remember not wanting to deal with loot, and for good reason xD
I'd like to point out two easy alternatives to getting into details with lewt:
1) have everyone just have WBL, possibly with some extra for those invested in crafting feats/skills?
2) we can use Automatic Bonus Progression, which would mess with a lot of things in the short term, but make handing out loot much less necessary in the long term (we'd be okay on less than half the usual WBL, especially with this many people)

Brennus, Arcane Raven |

Oh right, I was going to talk about the rest of Brennus's abilities since he's doing weird Spheres stuff.
He has Skill spheres as well as Magic spheres, so he has some non-magic abilities. His Study sphere lets him develop 'theories' as he watches things--right now he can watch creatures to either get bonuses to penetrate their resistances or bonuses on saves against their abilities. His Spellhacking sphere lets him do weird stuff with in-place magic, currently he can 'splinter' spells to make them affect more targets. Last his Investigation sphere lets him examine things--right now he can look over items to analyze what they're made of and what's happened to them.
He also gets 'theory dice' after certain triggers which , depending on what he rolls, he can use to get bonuses to things--currently attack rolls and Wisdom-based checks. The 'magical underpinnings' of his theories also give enemies penalties to saves if they fail saves against his abilities and gives him an increase to damage when he rolls max on damage dice.

Cannot get this up and running today, ER visit for the baby cratered out my day. He's fine, it was a precautionary trip, but a time sink nonetheless. Plus still need to see the builds from OSW & DH.

The Marked DM |

Oh, and I guess I prefer “normal” approach to loot. I find ABP a bit too much of an abstraction - I do think it is a good system for games that are less granular, but I don’t get that vibe from this game.
I use ABP in my Ravenloft game but that's mostly because it will be an extremely light on treasure game. Not too many dragon hoards or ancient dwarven underground kingdoms strewn about the Demiplane of Dread with treasure to be spilled forth from!

Been there, done that with my own kids. Always stressing as shit.Good news that he is doing fine!

Here's hoping all remains well, especially with the children.
For game launch: no rush, I'm sure we'll be sorted eventually xD

Just letting everyone know I’m going to need a few more days to make my character. I’ll try at least to get the alias together ASAP and then stat it out as I can.
No worries, I think we will be up and running THIS weekend.
I have decided on the next adventure as of last night.

...His Spellhacking sphere lets him do weird stuff with in-place magic, currently he can 'splinter' spells to make them affect more targets. ...
this bit here is super interesting for someone who casts buffs on occasion.
Could he splinter Invisibility or Grease? It'd be nice to give everyone's armor a greasy coat for +10 CMD vs grappling with just 1 spell from Franky and Brennus's splinter. You know, assuming we all need protection from grappling and it works for things targeting armor xD

Frank E. |

looking it up, it seems that you can copy it onto one new target, and for single target spells the duration will be 1/5th.
Luckily the other downsides don't apply to buffs and the two I'm thinking of are already minutes/level :D
