Welp, as the GM just pointed out, we need some dungeoneering tools. Shovels, a crow bar, some rope, pitons, and all that good stuff. Does anyone have any of that currently? If not we need to go shopping.
Also, exploring dungeons basically requires a marching order. Who wants to be in what spot?

GM_Colin |

You still have the time/chance to go back to the city and shop what you need. You can also go back out and recover during the dungeon delve, just don't abuse it.
The botton of the slide 1, the character info slide, is where people place their token according to the marching order. The left is front and right is back.
At the moment, we have Newt in the front, then Ryan, and Ouita. The rest is staying at the back with indeterminate order since two of them still haven't do the slide 1 yet.

GM_Colin |

Just to clarify, the shovel with parenthesis is 2 gold pieces, while the shovel without parenthesis is 2 copper pieces (0.02gp). Yes, that's how AoN list them. Functionally they're almost the same, same digging speed.
Is Ouita buying 100 cheap non-name brand shovel with 2gp, or one good named brand shovel with 2gp?
I personally find that they double listed shovel, and you can get 100 shovels for the price of one very funny

![]() |

I’ll buy the cheaper one, lol!
I haven’t subtracted the gold yet. Wanted to be sure it met with your approval before I did so, GM. I’ll do that now.

![]() |

That’s a weird oddity. Not sure where they imported the 2cp shove from either, the old PRD has shovels only listed at 2g each.

Adventurer's Armory pg.20: Shovel, 2cp, 3lb.
Archive of Nethy is correct on that.

Blasted sorry, everyone; seems my drive's been extra-in-the-toilet this week. The first step's always the hardest on these things....

Would you say our present environs count as "Urban" for purposes of the Fey Magic alternate racial feature (based on Ranger Favored Terrains)?

Yes. It still counts now.
You are in the City of the Dead (necropolis) now.

OK, so that's 6 silver for the poles, and I'll pick up 2 bags of marbles (2 sp), 2 more poles (1 sp), a piton (1 sp), and I'll also pick up a 30-lb. cot (1 gp), which is about the weight of a Halfling or Gnome, so unless they could freely walk over a trap, that ought to spring it too.
Honestly, though, if we really don't have anyone who can disarm traps, that's a huge problem.

I am also concerned about a locked door. Maaaybe we can break it down, material depending. But no trap disarmer or lock picker is not ideal for two entire dungeons.
At least I am assuming no one has disable device trained?

![]() |

We do have an Occultist; I'd kind of hope he's trained in that...if not, then frankly someone who can ought to swap characters.

I guess in theory I could do a rebuild and spend a point on DD and swap to a DD trait. He is decently dexterous but also won't be able to afford the MW thieves' tools necessary to be slightly competent at level 1. That also means the primary healer in the group is also the trap setter offer disabler.
If the GM would even allow that at this point.

@GM_Colin: I cannot edit the Slides anymore. The link doesn't work - I get a message that the owner of the document moved it to the deleted items (trash can). Maybe you moved it by accident?
Newt's token should be adjacent to the snake.

The original folder is on my Download folder in my computer and I did accidentally deleted it last night, but I ctrl+Z quickly. Didn't realized that Google do not put the .gslide file back. Sorry...

No problem! ;-) It works again.

I apologize for my absence from the game, moving to a new home took much more time and effort than I expected. I'm going back to regular posts.

GM_Colin |

I've been there; I wish I had such a formidable excuse.
No one that I know of is stopping you from moving to a new home! XD
Anyway, welcome back.

It will be one hour minimum before Angus even gets a roll to wake up on his own if no one can activate a wand or brought a healing potion or has smelling salts.
If nobody has a better idea it looks like we are going to go back up again to buy smelling salts. Do we also need masterwork thieves' tools? Newt has enough gold to buy them (and as he is still level 1 he can retrain, so he can sell them again at full price).
Also, as soon as Newt gets his third XP - he has 2 XP already - he will gain the class features needed to act as the backup healer (1 level dip of cleric). Then we shouldn't have this exact problem anymore when Angus is unconscious again.

GM_Colin |

Sending someone out back in the market for healing supplies is still an option...

![]() |

You won’t get any XP until we finish both dungeons iirc. And no one has disable device so no point in MW thieves tools. The potions of CLW are very wise.
The best option right now does at least seem to be a trip out to the market.
Not that I have any say at the moment, Angus is unconscious! :D

GM_Colin |

The city does have a bank/temple of Abadar, Sanctum of Silver and Gold. I would allow you guys to take a small loan to get equipments and weapons in advance and pay them back with the mission's payout (about 1500gp). The Society does have a good relationship with the church of Abadar, afterall.

![]() |

Cool, thanks! In that case, I would suggest taking the infernal healing wand. We have a bloodrager in our squad who could use it. In this case, we will not depend on one healer.

![]() |

If When the others go shopping, Newt will stay with Angus in order to protect him from (further) harm.
If Ouita has 2 PP available to spend, I recommend to buy the infernal healing wand with it. Saves you 750g. Also, with that wand even a wizard can be a backup healer no chance to fail when activating it...

Ouita nodded. ”We are certainly going to get a bad reputation about not being prepared, no matter how true it is. We need a list of what to purchase. I am going to buy us some healing potions. What else do the rest of us want us shoppers to pick up?”
Dr. House once said: "you can live with dignity, you can't die with it."
Better to live with superficial bad rep than to die without enough gold for Raise Dead.

FYI I'm standing up in my brother's wedding this weekend so I probably won't be able to post much until late Sunday CST.
Angus need 2 charge of Infernal Healing to heal back to full, and now it's a good time to figure out what other equipments you guy might want.
For example, even though locked door come up less frequent than traps and locked chest, a Skeleton Key will allow you to try unlocking a door with a +10 without being trained in Disable Device personally. Just something that I came across before when I went shopping in AoN...

![]() |

Thanks for the infos, GM_Colin!
Newt gives the 'shopping group' gold to buy some things for him.
Further Shopping:
1x Potion of CLW 50g
2x Skeleton Key 85g
TOTAL: 220 gold

![]() |

I'll spend 50 for the tome of epics I'd been meaning to get, because why not?
And Ryan? It's one thing for an Occultist not to take Disable Device, but not taking Use Magic Device? Seriously???
Oh, but about that...guess who CAN use infernal healing wands!? I regret I don't have one (so maybe I'll spend 2 PP myself for that!), but does anyone?
In fact, considering I already made a lone shopping-trip, could we retroactively say I got that then/there?
Also, I'll retcon that 2nd bag of marbles I bought was instead a 4th flask of oil. If you'll allow me to further retcon my prior shopping-trip, I'll also add on a sunrod (2 gp).

I'm not very familiar with that kit (mine's a Necroccultist), what's so special about it at 1st level?

Free masterwork full plate.
Panoply Bond (Su): At 1st level, a battle host forms a supernatural bond with a specif ic weapon, suit of armor, or shield. This selection is permanent and can never be changed. The bonded item is masterwork quality and the battle host begins play with it at no cost.....

I survived a wedding in a church with no air conditioning during the heat wave this weekend.
Also, about an hour before we had to be at the church, me and the other brother of the groom realized the tux rentals didn’t come with dress shoes, and we hadn’t brought our own. So we had to rush to Walmart and buy some.
After that, I’m officially done making fun of you guys for leaving the dungeon to go shopping. Fair's fair.

lol, summer weddings are tough.
My office once put on a fundraiser for a gubernatorial candidate and I ended up locking myself out of my house in a series of unfortunate events. I am decidedly not an on the rack shopper, so I had a dress shirt and pants I grabbed from the office, and went to Walmart and bought shoes, dress socks, and toiletries to get me through the event, lol. They made such fun of me.

Oooh… uh. Wow. I gotta ask, why didn’t you all run away?

GM_Colin |

When I said 'a friend of mine' I really mean a friend of mine. It didn't happen to me. And I don't know why he didn't run away, because he was the most experienced player in our group (his Confirmation was with some other group I guess).
But I was no better when I first start to play Pathfinder and encountered a swarm.....

With a setup like that, it sounds like they were lucky it wasn't a TPK; how did they overcome it, do you know?

There is literally a moment in The Confirmation when Janira Gavix engages with the future field agents, checks out their equipment and makes helpful suggestions. One bullet point on her list is Ways to make a fire.
Did the GM forget to do that?
Did nobody buy a few torches (or some oil) and a way to ignite them?

You would be surprised by 5e newbies or how oblivious they are to the dangers from 3.5/PF. And the torch dealing 1 point of fire damage did not get carry over from 3.5 to PF.

Fair enough.
And the torch dealing 1 point of fire damage did not get carry over from 3.5 to PF.
Actually, it did:
Torch
Source Ultimate Equipment pg. 58, PRPG Core Rulebook pg. 158
Price 1 cp; Weight 1 lb.
Category Adventuring Gear
Description A torch burns for 1 hour, shedding normal light in a 20-foot radius and increasing the light level by one step for an additional 20 feet beyond that area (darkness becomes dim light and dim light becomes normal light). A torch does not increase the light level in normal light or bright light. If a torch is used in combat, treat it as a one-handed improvised weapon that deals bludgeoning damage equal to that of a gauntlet of its size, plus 1 point of fire damage. (Source)

*grumbles about yet another ENG->ZHS translation that omit important stuff*
Still need to hit the AC with -4 penalty, though. And I've been searching for the answer for whether alchemical splash weapon's direct hit bypass the single target effect immunity of swarm, but no one seems to be able to point to a explicit rule for it. But what I do find, is that scorching ray works against them as the man James Jacobs said so.
