I’m guessing we need someone to bot Selena; I’ll try if no one else wants to but I kinda suck when it comes to maximizing magic users…

I noticed in our stash, we have a wand of restoration…I think both Bull & Al are down 3 negative levels so maybe that can help…
Sakitu

Do we have anyone who can use it? If not, I can try it with a UMD.
Findurêl

Hmmm…I had thought Kal could…but while druids have lesser restoration, they don’t appear to have restoration…
My guess is we got this back when Tez was in our group…he was a shaman and could use it…so I’m guessing it’s only by UMD…what’s the DC?
Quasit*

Quasit has a good UMD, she could take 10 and cast it.
Findurêl

Are these considered temp negative levels? If so, I think one tap from the wand on each will do it…if permanent, it’ll take six, I guess…
Sakitu

Sakitu has good UMD too (+15) so either of us could do it.
Quasit*
|
From a roleplaying perspective, it makes more sense for Sakitu to do it.

Do you know where we got that and how many charges it had? And are we sure we didn't sell it? My memory fails me on that item.
If we actually have it, we need to break it out and use it. But I'm trying to get out of going back and rereading 8 years (?!) worth of posts. :)
Findurêl

It’s on the Loot link at the top of the page, under the ‘Party Stash’ tab. It’s got 25 charges so it’s full…
Almost certain that Tez bought it when he was with us; he always held aside some gold for purchases for the party when we divvied things up. He was a shaman and is the only one that can use it without doing it with UMD…

Ah, thanks, I see it now. I notice we also have 5 scrolls of Restoration in addition to the wand.
Quasit doesn’t know enough about magic or healing to know that a Restoration spell is necessary. If she was presented with that prospect and knew about the wand/scrolls, she’d be happy to try using them.
We actually probably couldn’t just take 10 on a UMD check since there’s a significant negative consequence to rolling a 1 with a wand. But odds are we can succeed on the checks with straight rolls. The only other question is whether these are temporary or permanent negative levels, because I think the spell restores all temporary lost levels, but only 1 permanent one (and that only once per week). But either way, we need to do it.

They're temporary for 24 hours, then you get to roll a save and if you fail they become permanent (if you succeed you get rid of them).
Findurêl

Yeah, Tez was good about having foresight in buying those items; it was his idea to buy the breath of life scroll as well…and that saved Kal from a premature death…hopefully, the wand will square things for Bull & Fin…
Thanks, GM! That means one tap each will do the trick…

GM, does Selena's character, being a witch who calls Baba Yaga 'grandmother' actually have any insight into identifying Baba Yaga? Like knowing what she looks like, or how she sounds, or any identifying features? Or like us, does she only know Baba Yaga by reputation?
Maybe a bonus on a Sense Motive at least? If this is a creature that's fooling us, it probably has a Bluff up the wazzoo, but I'll take any chance we can get.

Selena would have seen depictions of Baba Yaga, but unless she's 100 years old she wouldn't have any personal experience.

I would suggest shooting her, stabbing her, and burning her, those always seem to work for you guys. :D

I think I am ready to come back soon. I got caught up in working overtime then a sudden and surprising end to work followed by a hasty search for a new job and now I finally have one. Things still need to settle into a routine and I need to catch up, but once those happen I will be able to take up Selena once more.
| GM_Almonihah |
Glad you were about to find a new job! Hope it works out well for you.

Okay Fin, finish this 18th level spell caster before he gets a spell off please!
| Maka Na'Shota |
I've seen one of Fin's characters do it!
Ask me about the Eyes of the Ten game I stepped in to GM sometime...
Does he have a shotgun in that game too?

I’ll do my best, Maka! Your attack set me up very well, methinks…
Yeah, that was my most memorable PFS moment, EF. My two highest damage totals on back to back rolls…
I’ll be off work in a bit and will post when I get home…

Ask me about the Eyes of the Ten game I stepped in to GM sometime...
You remind me of the time I ran Eyes of the Ten over a weekend. In the second adventure in the final encounter the gunslinger got initiative to act first and took the big bad down in a single flurry of shots. Those x4 crits added up fast. I was so mad. ;D
| GM_Almonihah |
My brother was playing a gunslinger in this campaign and had similar experiences a couple of times. :D Not on Rasputin, though...
Findurêl

Well that was depressing…a great roll wasted…would’ve been a likely confirmed double crit roll on any of his cronies…
So he’s immune to Maka’s fire and Fin’s arrows…if we retreat, he’ll re-enable the machine, if we stay, not seeing how we all stay alive…any ideas on how we put any damage on him?

For Saki's spells: Enemy Hammer could pull him from behind the wind wall so Fin can keep shooting. Icy Prison could buy some time while we clean up the mooks. And of course Cone of Cold could blast the entire room.
Findurêl
|
I suck at magic strategy but I trust your judgment there…
Might wanna clean up his cronies first…if Saki can cast greater invisibility on Fin, and with Maka flying, we can likely make quick work of them…they all appear to be undead and they’re my favored enemy…

I think one of Kal's elementals could get at him --I'm guessing he's hiding behind an Antilife Shell. Maybe a huge earth elemental to grapple him and prevent his spellcasting? Undead can also get through such a barrier -- if someone has a way to send undead minions at him, it might work and I would relish the irony.
If any of our casters have a Dispel Magic handy, i think it's worth a shot to throw that at him and see if we can pry away some of his buffs.
I think there's some sort of effect that prevents teleporting here -- if we wall him off with a wall of stone or something, we might buy time to deal with his minions.
I'd like to see Fin focus his favored enemy attacks on Headless for the moment, and for Bulvi to go for the vampires with his holy sword.
Maka, I'm not sure he can make himself totally immune to fire? If he's got a Protection from Energy up, then I think Maka has probably just blasted through about 75% of it. It might be worth sticking with it for another round to see if you can break through. Also, not to put too fine a point on things, Maka is probably most likely to make a save against any of his big nasty spells, which he's probably getting ready to drop. So stay in his face and distract him?
I want to see the monkey tackle Headless off his horse. Or knock his head away.
| Maka Na'Shota |
I'll give eruption a shot. Area affect so it would avoid concealment and the affect being centered underneath Rasputin might get Maka past what blocked her traveling with the ranged attack.
Selena has Khain's Army so she can spam undead to send after Rasputin.
Sakitu

I like the idea of using my Enemy Hammer to pull him out. But it could be that the shell is centered on him and will move with him. One way to find out.
| Selena Snoe Yelizaveta |
Did we ever find out for sure whether Rasputin is an undead?
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Note: Selena is LN.
If Rasputin is an undead, what would Raise Dead do to him? I’m not sure about Pathfinder, but some versions of the game have that destroy undead, or it might be a common house rule. I don’t remember, it’s been too long since I last encountered such a discussion.
| Maka Na'Shota |
We haven't found any evidence that he is undead, but in general undead aren't destroyed by resurrection magic.
Not affected by raise dead and reincarnate spells or abilities. Resurrection and true resurrection can affect undead creatures. These spells turn undead creatures back into the living creatures they were before becoming undead.
However, some undead have Resurrection Vulnerability and are destroyed by it.
Quasit*
|
I don’t think Rasputin is undead. As a child of Baba Yaga, I’d expect he’s essentially human, like Elvanna is.
He seems to really be buffed to the gills. I still like the idea of hitting him with a Dispel Magic to try and open up a chink in his armor.
Sakitu
|
I like that idea as well. I don't have Dispel Magic on my list.
| GM_Almonihah |
The main problem with taking advantage of Resurrection Vulnerability even for enemies that have it is that most resurrection-type spells take more than a round to cast.
I wish that _enemy hammer_ worked, it would have been so hilarious. XD

I was thinking that the grey line on the map must be where the wind wall is and the icon for Headless is in front of it not behind it…Fin has already fired into the wind wall once and knows where it’s at, he wouldn’t do it again…
GM, when you get a moment can you please clarify? As stated above, having wasted one attack already, Fin wouldn’t have fired at Headless if he were behind the wind wall; he’d have fired at the next closest vampire instead…
Quasit*

Quasit shouted something to Fin but I think we already went this round, and Selena actually goes after Headless. It was more in the way of a little role-playing to coordinate actions for the future.
