Sileven |

Fey Sighted is an alternate racial trait for Elves from Legacy of the First World. Replaces Elven Magic, so, if you aren't a caster or aren't going to be a caster, it is a really useful trade for a racial trait you probably won't use.
It is an ALWAYS ACTIVE Detect Magic. Very useful when everybody remembers it is there.

Khamul Froghoth |

Khamul uses the butt of his longspear to stop Zarque from pushing the buttons "If you're going to experiment, you do it when the rest of us are out of the danger area. In the meanwhile, let's get back to business with the ghoul problem." He then addresses the group "Back to the intersection, and we can pick a direction from there."
Do I need to use the pointy end next time?

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I noticed, but it was up to Zarque whether she actually stopped or not. Either way, the rumbling is not from the buttons being pushed...

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

That is unfortunate to hear Zarque, but I completely understand. We’ll be here when you return.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I think the slow investigation part of it has worn off on some folk. That said, I have been moving ahead with less folk responding so we can keep going, At this point, it sounds like we still mostly have you, Idun, Grenz and Sileven. Zarque pops in and out, in game and out of game. That and up above it was mentioned that they would be out of contact for a bit. Drek’Thar is usually around, but takes a bit to chime in unless he is talked to directly and Milah is the only one of the originals still somewhat around.
With that in mind, do you want me to narrate the rest of the exploration in the tunnels and move to the next step, or would you rather continue to find out the last couple of things on your own? Either way is good with me, but I can easily move you guys forward.

Khamul Froghoth |

What prompted that comment was that you called for a saving throw on Monday, and got 3 answers, all on Monday morning. but we (theoretically) have 6 players and it's now Thursday...
I'd say roll the saves for them and let's continue on down the tunnel. As you say, there's only a couple more things down here - 1) this tunnel heading to the docks (and maybe the guy we chased down here) 2) the remaining tunnel we haven't explored, and 3) what's behind the brick wall... (which may be something for another trip).

Sileven |

I think I prefer said option: bot those who have not responded and allow the exploration to continue.
Handling the rest of the exploration with a descriptive exposition should be easy, and quicker, but it just reinforces a lack of player involvement in the story.

The Captivating Caprice! |

I personally would be cool with doing a "auto-follow to next plot point" but not necessarily "auto-rest of the exploration", and we make a quick sign that we can give you to say "Alright, can you move us to the next unexplored room, just in case we the players can't keep the intersections straight."

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I agree with those sentiments, because number one, I do not want to take away player agency. This is your story as much as mine and I want to make sure you all have a part in it. Seven characters is a lot, but honestly it's not as bad as some I have seen. I was in a Kingmaker campaign with several parties and one GM..
Either way, I will try to keep the 2 day rule in place and bot as needed. I'm just not sure when I should write the lagging characters out.

Drek'Thar |

Hi guys.
When some weeks ago I warned that I would be slow due to some changes, I never thought I would be that slow. And now it's Summer time and that means even more work.
So, being honest, I've been slow for more than just a couple of weeks, anyway, and even though I love RotR, I love SoP and I love this game in particular, I think it's better to keep most of my games aside, since I don't know if I'll have time enough at least until September.
I wish you all the best, guys. It seems this AP still avoids me! :P

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

That is unfortunate to hear, Drek’thar, but as we all know, I am an understanding GM and as such, I will have Drek’thar return to Sandpoint and give him something to work on in the meantime. That said, perhaps at a later time if I decide to run this again in the Savage Worlds version, you would be amenable to playing that.
As for everyone else, we have Sileven, Khamul and Idun. I’m going to write out Drek’thar and probably Milah for the time being. Zarque pops in and out as she wishes, so it isn’t hard to note that she may have popped out again for other arcane purposes. That just leaves Grenz, who I thought was pretty into the game. Hmm..
With that in mind, I am happy that the rest of you have stuck with us this long. Back to the adventure!

Grenz |

Hey everyone,
Just dropping a line to let you all know I will be on vacations for the next three weeks, starting tomorrow - nothing but sun and drinks! :D
I should have internet access, but no posting is guaranteed. So please feel free to bot me if needed.
Thanks!
I posted about my vacations on June 25th.

Khamul Froghoth |

Zarque, we have witnesses : the 2 acolytes (Mirah and Gurin, IIRC) who have come with us into the sewers. We also really want to get eyes on whomever in the church is cooperating with our undead murder buddy. Especially if we can capture and interrogate our collaborator.

Zarque |

Hmm, it seems my post was eaten. Well, that works I guess.
In any case, I almost figured out how to save the other guy, but I was missing the ability to teleport unwilling targets, but otherwise I could burn SP to teleport as an immediate action, though whether the immediate action version is full teleport or just isoport within the same space is vague and unclear. Either way, I think I should get unwilling teleport next. I can see it now "Can you fly? Let's find out!" *pop*

Grenz |

I think we should think about finding/using more buffs for our combat characters - if I understand correctly, the 3d6 distribution will mean it is much harder to get higher rolls.
If my math does not elude me:
On a d20 you will have a result above 15 about... 30% of the time.
On 3d6 you will have a result above 15 less than 10% of the time.
So we need more static bonuses when fighting against high AC opponents. Of course the same applies to the bad guys I guess. And conversely we will have less lower results, which makes it more probable to hit 'mooks' or 'non-boss' bad guys.
On the other hand, this seems to be better for casters? Since the save DC remain the same, but the save roll tends to have lower results?
Nothing world shattering, was just considering the implications of using 3d6 instead of d20.
(feel free to correct my math of course - I used this for a broad view.[/ooc]

The Captivating Caprice! |

I was thinking about picking up a weapon I could get Finesse based trip attempts with. That'd provide a way for me to attempt a helpful combat maneuver in situations like this.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

That is precisely the point of trying it out, to see how it works and poke holes in it if necessary. In this case, it emphasizes working together to give better bonuses all around, such as using Aid Another and other such things. I’ll comment more later, but have to get back to work.

Zarque |

I like 3d6 in general, but I've been worried that pathfinder won't handle it well since 3d6 is really good for a more grounded game, while paizo focuses on more fantastical and epic hero stuff. The major shift in gaming expectations and methods doesn't help either. The days of 10' poles and a posse of hirelings for every player would fit better I think. Still, not bad so far.

The Captivating Caprice! |

I've mostly been playing backline support, so, given that haste and alchemical cures don't really care about the 3d6 system, I don't think I've had that much combat experience with it.
That said, I do like the effect on skills. I'd say I'm pretty convinced its a positive on that end.

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

I feel it gives a semi-realistic, for as much as I can use that word to describe a fantasy game, representation of how skills and such actually work. Overall, including circumstances, most everyone does what they know fairly well and the bonuses and penalties would average out. Every once in a while, you have a really terrible time of it and every once in a while, it goes off smoothly. The bell curve of 3d6 tends to favor those who have a better skill overall, rather than those who roll better. That and since I like grit more than sword and sorcery a bit more than high fantasy, I think it fits. Still, I appreciate everyone staying on board with it. Now, back to the game..

Grenz |

Sorry, wife had surgery today. Last night was getting things ready. Today we spent roughly 15 hours out of the house so she could spend roughly 3 hours on the table. Looks like everything is good. They drilled bone out of her sinuses (making the two above her eyebrows into one big sinus, for example) and scraped a lot of infected tissue and debris out of her sinuses as well. Mostly, the point is to reduce the discomfort later. Reduce the number and severity of sinus infections, for example.
Damn Sileven, the whole process sounds... Tough... But it is good to know it will contribute to improve her comfort and health. From what I have heard, chronic sinus infection is no joke - the symptoms can be paralyzing with splitting headaches and worse.
Best wishes to her!

DM ShadowBloodmoon |

Wow.. that’s a lot to deal with. At least the prognosis looks good though. Hopefully it works out for the best!
As another note, my family and I will be gone from Thursday October 28th through Tuesday November 2nd, so I may not get to post during those times. I should be back up and running by the 3rd.

Sileven |

Time relaxing with family is too rare to ignore or avoid. Enjoy the trip.
As far as my wife's health goes, this is like surgery 26 or so. Her recovery after the knee replacement and after her heart valve replacement were both far more stressful than this has been! <wink>
I appreciate the well wishes, but this is just a normal part of life with her.
And her medical is the primary reason I stayed active duty US military long enough to retire. Now, we have arguably the best health care insurance available in the US today. (Medicare hospitalization [Part B?] with the military TriCare as a supplement.) Gaining permanent access to TriCare only cost me 20 years of my life. As a consequence of that cost I get a little salty when people call it an unearned benefit . . .. And, yes, we have to pay the same MediCare premiums as everyone else.

Khamul Froghoth |

...
He lets the body drop and then his eyes start to glow an eerie green, and he focuses them on Sileven, ”You shall be the first to join my family.” The voice is different from the one that spoke earlier.
... The creature stops struggling and goes limp. You can hear what sounds like crying coming from its dead lips...
Spellcraft and/or appropriate knowledge checks anyone? If we need to, and we have a day's downtime, I can consult the spirits (ie seance for the knowledge skills...

Khamul Froghoth |

I PM'ed Idun and Zarque yesterday, hoping to get things moving...
In the meanwhile, @GM Shadowbloodmoon, how close are we to levelling? Since I have joined the party - Remus & 20 goons with him, Animated Rug, Red Fist (and assorted goons), 10 ghouls (plus the tied up one, but he doesn't count), a giant lizard thing, this blue coat ghoul , and assorted traps, puzzles and such...
