Hello everyone and welcome to my very first of hopefully many recruitment threads here on the Paizo forums.
I was first drawn to Reign of Winter when I stumbled on the campaign setting, Irrisen: Land of Eternal Winter while constructing a fey themed game for my local table. I was delighted and a bit miffed when I found the AP as there were several similarities. :p
Now without further ado, here are my submission guidelines. Straight from my brain. A complete submission will have all of the following. Though I'm not too concerned with the crunch, as of yet. Focus on the fluff. I love fluff, goes good with peanut butter. Oh, uh.. yeah anyway. Carry on. >.>
Level 1
Abilities 15 pt buy, or roll 2d6+6 six times, you may assign your scores however you wish, and if you do not like the roll, you may either reroll one stat, or go with the point buy.
Races Any paizo races with RP 17 or below that are not the Wyvaran or Android, though core are much preferred. Aasimars and Tieflings may choose any of the variants, but may not roll for the alternate abilities. Alternate racial traits are fine.
Classes Any paizo classes, prestige classes are fine when requisites are met.
No Evil. No exceptions.
HPMax HP 1st level, 1/2+1 for 2nd and beyond or you can choose to roll. Rerolling any 1's.
Traits/Drawbacks2 traits. One being a campaign trait. You may attempt to buy a third with a drawback, but it will depend on each case.I am going to restrict the traits such as rich parents and chosen child that give you 900 gold to work with, save for signature moves, as it all goes into your masterwork weapon of choice.
Wealth Average or rolled character wealth for your class.
3pp 3rd party material will be considered on a case by case basis. If it's a good fit thematically, it will be more likely to be accepted and so on. Or if I just like it enough. Convince me. :)
Character sheets may be submitted in the form of a paizo profile, or using a website such as Myth Weavers
Automatic Bonus Progression I'm not changing the frequency of magical items, so your place on the table will be equal to your level.
Background Skills
Passive Perception As in 5e, using all relevant bonuses.
Alright here we go. Give it to me good with this stuff. I want to know the ins and outs of your character. Who they are, who they want to be. Their favorite color. But really I want two things.
A narrative style background, doesn't have to be long but I love to read too. This will give me a sample of your writing skills.
And the Ten Minute Background
Greetings. I'm a 27 year old husband and occasional couch potato. I work a mindless job and have nothing better to do in my brain but think up new characters. My favorite hobbies include gaming, reading, writing and singing. Mostly though I've spent most of my recent free time writing a homebrew pathfinder campaign for my three buddies irl and I've recently began to lurk these forums, following whatever game catches my attention that day before I'm forced to leave by my wife.
I first dabbled in tabletop when my close friend pressured me to try 3.5e in a homebrew game playing the villains. Since then I haven't left the house without my dice, a pen or a notebook with at least two fresh character sheets printed. It's been four years now and I'm showing no signs of quitting. To this day we see our earlier characters in our games as relevant npcs and we get fuzzy feelings.
I will keep recruitment open until the 17th of this month. All completed submissions before 11:59 pm (EST) on the 17th will be considered.
I am expecting a daily post rate. As I work during the day, I will most often be posting in the evenings or late at night. I am available to post on most weekends as well, but I will not require my players to do so but they will be free to do as they wish in that regard. If anyone expects they will not be able to post for some time, please send me a PM or post in the campaign discussion tab and I will bot your character as needed. If anyone is absent for more than a week without letting me know, I will replace them.
Some of the players that sparked my interest in running the game had been curious about an all female party. I will leave that to the four selected, and will not enforce it myself.
There we have it. I hope I've covered everything, and of course if there are any questions I will do my best to get them answered. Happy conceptualizing, and good luck!

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
I'll take those. Will make a submission in a few days.
EDIT: Well if people are rerolling 10s and 12s
reroll the 9 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
that gives me
18, 17, 15, 14, 13, 11

Ashling_Frost-wing |

ooohhh Yes, i've always wanted to be in an reign of winter game.
Also as a fellow gm and Forumite i welcome you. to the wonderful world of pbp gming.
Side note just in case you read this during first post. lot's of editing was done below.
Ashling Frostwing, Assassin, Dancer, and (Insert something more normal here)
Whenever i think about that night i know i should feel angry...i should feel something, but i don’t. It was a normal night, cold , clear skies and snow on the ground. I was returning from an unsuccessful hunt, i called to my family as i walked in, eye closed only briefly “I’m home”. Opening them I saw pools of blood, Tristan stood there. A look in his eye, A look I recognized...”he broke”. His addiction finally got to him, consumed him until the voices drove him insane.
I charged him my blade drawn, he simply threw me aside. “Little sister, the voices stopped” He said not a hint of remorse, “ all i had to do was kill them and drink their blood.” his white coat stained with blood and tattered. He paused for a brief moment holding his head in pain, he muttered, “Remember”
We had a promise, i would kill him if he ever gave in... “I can’t”
“Then run, save yourself” He began screaming the pain growing worse.
I ran far away into the night, through the snow and moonlight. The days past i grew cold and hungry, game was scarce this year, as it always was. Wandering into a town nearby, I checked the bounty board in the local tavern...I was desperate I picked one, A group of thieves wanted dead...How different could it be from hunting?
Things would continue like this, with each kill, each bounty it became easier.
Ashling, generally wears a dark purple hooded cloak and usually carries a belt of knives, a silvery pendant of Ashava hangs from her neck in memory of her parents. She generally wear's a mask Much like this one
Ashling bares many resemblances to the rest of her family; silvery white hair that she wears short and unkempt, She has bright violet eye's. Having only just become an adult she is still rather short and small by human standards. She's cute though, has an odd creepy presence and a generally unnerving disposition
She's learned to separate her two identities (Her assassin self and her normal self) As the Assassin Phantom she is ruthless, cold and distant. Prone to lack of self control and fit's of passion during combat.
When not on a job she's learned to act in a way that makes people feel comfortable. she act's as the quiet heroic type. her True self is lost to her.
Concept
1)Ashling has virtually no family left, the only other person is her brother who is a mass murdering psychopath. She has mixed feeling's about the subject, she doesn't want to kill him but feel's she has too.
2) She's always been adept at killing, she grew up hunting alongside her father and was considered a prodigy.
3)After the tragedy of her Family's murder and her initial act's of bounty hunting. She became the Phantom, a name given to her by the masses for her stealth and mannerism's during mission's.
4)Ashling learned much of what she know's from her older brother. Who acted as her teacher. other thing's she picked up naturally
5)Ashling has one normal hobby, she loves to dance. it often is a calming influence on her. In fight's she tends to lose herself in fit's of passion or reckless abandon
Quirks and mannerisms
1)Ashling always has had an issue smiling, she tries however it only ends up unnerving people.
Goal
1) To become strong enough to find and kill her older brother, who has become a mass murdering, blood drinking psychopath.
2)It'd be cool to have her name as the Phantom become a bigger name.
Secret
1) She tries to keep her last name hidden from most people, as she doesn't want people to know she has any relation to her Brother who is widely known as a mass murdering psychopath.
2) She doesn't know her brother's location or that he is possessed not insane,
People
1) Tristan Frostwing- Her older brother, before the incident they were best friends. Now they are at odds.
2) Kryas Azrin- Her best friend, a young half elf who was sold to the fey at a young age and grew up among them. The only person to know she is the Phantom.
3) Narine- Kryas's Fey owner and a merchant, took the young girl in for a while after the event. is a nice person, though mischievous
Memories
1) She remembers her first kill vividly, how she felt nothing. it continue's to bother her.
2) The good times her and her brother used to have. She was the tough one.
3) Growing up in town pick pocketing and causing mischief with Kryas
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12
I'll go with the point buy.... Probably some kind of roguish fighter or Slayer
Also this will be the profile i use for the game, and thank god for mythweaver's sheet's. they save me so much time

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 = 16
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
reroll: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
So, 16, 15, 14, 14, 14, 13
Interesting. Perhaps time for that Kobold Blackened Flame Oracle that's been kicking around my head forever. "What do we burn apart from witches? MORE WITCHES!"

Oterisk |

I like rolling!
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 3) + 6 = 10
Reroll please!
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
Wow. Can't say a 34 point buy is bad, but there just is a lot of room for whatever in that. I'm gonna take a look at my idea list and see if I can come up with something MAD.

Greycastle |

For Building Purposes
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
possible reroll for one of the 13 hoping either high or a little lower. I tend to like a little peak and valley
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18

The Pale King |

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 = 14
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 6) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11
Since everyone else is doing it... Rerolling the 10.
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
15, 14, 15, 15, 17, 11. Not going to complain. Are you worried about all the high stats showing up in this thread? I'll get to work on a character. Normally I am iffy with applying for games with new PbP GMs, but your short bio felt so familiar that I can't resist.

Evillain |

@R0B0GEISHA
It can be in 1st or 3rd person, however you prefer to write. You can show me a memory important to your character, or could be a moment in town running into a stranger. Anything that will shed a little light, or pique my curiosity.
@The Pale King (aka TPK) :)
The high stats were more or less expected. I've used the 2d6+6 array a few times and it's always made players happy. I'm glad my bio reached someone, I put a lot of thought into it. :D

Green Smashomancer |

Well, I've always been a fan of cold themes. I want to get some thoughts together at work tomorrow, but first:
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 3) + 6 = 14
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
Edit: Ooh nice. I think I'll push my luck and reroll a 13.
Stats: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
An 11 is fine too.
As a question that'll help me decide my character, would you be willing to allow the Spheres of Power casting system? It's a pretty straight forward system to get a hang of, and I've been wanting to try it out for a bit. Not a deal breaker by any means, but I thought I'd ask.

Celestine is a beautiful woman, who looks to be elven at first glance. However, at closer inspection her features are too perfectly symmetrical and ethereal to be just elven. Her hair is spun copper, with glittering emerald eyes and flawless ivory skin. She carries a falcata on her hip and wears a buckler on her arm and wears a tight-fitting studded leather bodysuit. Over that is a thick fur-lined coat and boots, as well as earmuffs designed for long-pointed ears.
Celestine is pretty, but also a little vapid. Her lack of planning skills has led to her getting into trouble, but she can usually talk or fight her way out of it. She learned the rondelero fighting system in Taldor, and she enjoys the fast and ferocious fighting style.

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3) + 6 = 15
rerolling the 11...
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15
Hmm, really solid set with lots of potential. Thinking either a damage dealer (trying to determine melee vs missile - barbarian/bloodrager vs gunslinger), or cleric.

Rhal, the Styx Boatman |

Glad to see this is getting up and going!
Dotting my interest and rolling stats -
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 = 16
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 = 13
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 6) + 6 = 18
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
And since it seems to be the running fade around here I am going to reroll that 10.
2d6+6: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 = 13

![]() |

2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 6 = 13
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
re-roll the 9:
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 1) + 6 = 11
Ehhhhh... That's good, but most everyone here has been rolling astoundingly high, so I doubt my ability to build a character that could "keep up". Other than a full arcane caster, which I have little interest in playing. I'll keep an eye on this thread in case I have a change of heart, though!

Zartana |

From the previous thread, just rolling so i can adjust her stats =^^=
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5) + 6 = 12
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 = 17
Rerolling the 9
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 6 = 15
Str 10
Dex 19
Con 13
Int 19
Wis 12
Cha 12
Will take average GP = 105gp
Very happy with this. Will try to change as much in the profile as possible. Since i am not at my pc atm

Evillain |

@Rhal, the Styx Boatman
Good question. I personally prefer the unchained versions for the rogue, barbarian and summoner. But you may choose between whichever you like.
@Waterhammer
Unless someone else can provide an alternate link to the ten minute background, I would ask that you register with mythweavers.
@Rysky
We will not be using variant multiclassing.

I love paladins. It would be interesting to see how one would develop in RoW. Depending on your deity I may have a unique take on how they would judge certain behaviors, though. Ultimately I will not dissuade anyone from playing a paladin, but caution is a healthy thing.
As for crafting, you may craft up to two items so long as you roll the appropriate skill check for each and pay for any materials.
