Thanks for the answer about how Discord works, it is kind of what i thought but confirmation is nice. For the Leadership stuff, I just realized my brain stopped working momentarily and substituted 'charisma score' for 'charisma modifier' when I was writing my above suggestion so there's no way you could get followers at level 3 (barring crazy shenanigans), so what I wrote about followers can be ignored. The google form looks like a cool way to gather info for this, I like the idea. What are your posting expectations for this game? Looking at other games you've run you seem to prefer short posts. ![]()
I am very interested in playing through Kingmaker. While different, I would be okay with your version of recruitment, it seems interesting. A suggestion on people accompanying the PCs. Instead of hiring teams we could have the leadership feat for free. Since we are starting at level 2 our cohort could have one level in an NPC class. At level 3 the cohort could retrain into a PC class. The Cohort would probably be a person close to the PC and is coming along to help them earn their kingdom. To control the followers, simply make it so they also must be at least two levels lower than the PC, so no followers until level 3. Then it gives us time to roleplay acquiring the followers. In addition, because we are going to be exploring and adventuring we would have to support the followers so there would be a daily expense of food and the like. The Feedback You Get - Does this kind of game sound interesting? Yes very much so. - Does playing over Discord sound interesting? I've never used it, but it looks like a messaging app. Is there a native die roll function in it and text formatting? - What questions would come up for you about this kind of game? In how much detail are you expecting us to manage followers/hirelings? Will be using Ultimate Campaign for running the kingdom building aspect and using those kingdom building rules or just roleplaying it all? ![]()
I am running a pbp for 8 players. Just finishing up the fight at the bridge now. I basically just about double everything in the encounters and it works pretty well. Here is a link to the pbp if you want to see what I've done. Escaping Phaendar has basically turned into about 70 consecutive rounds of combat, thought there have been a few 5-6 round breaks in there. ![]()
The leadership format I use is this - leadership as a feat is banned, but gaining cohorts is inherent in leveling. At level 7 (or earlier) you may attract a cohort depending on your interactions with people. These cohorts will generally only have NPC levels but once you attract them they can retrain under your tutelage to PC levels and gain PC levels as they level up. Every 2 levels after 7 they may attract another cohort, with a maximum number of cohorts being dependent on your charisma score (10 charisma allows max 3 cohorts, charisma 21+ is max 7 I think). Cohorts do not auto level up but gain 4/5 of the XP that a PC does, followers gain 2/5. Cohorts can earn cohorts and followers as well. Currently my level 9 party has a redeemed bugbear, a redeemed orc, and a huge sized wyvern as cohorts, the bugbear and orc with 7 PC class levels. Combat works out pretty well since all the cohorts are melee based and I have a bunch of house rules to make combat faster and hit point damage more viable than in normal pathfinder. (even with 7 charcters in combat a round usually only takes 7-8 minutes including me running NPCs). The actual details are a bit grittier, but that's the basics. Almost certainly not something you'd like, but an alternate system to think on. ![]()
@GM Storm Chaser - I only picked feats that I am able to pick, my Bonus feat is Weapon Focus from the War priest class. Heres where my feats come from: Human Bonus - Mounted Combat
I still need you to assign the 'DMs Choice' Bonus Feat. Sorry if my wording was confusing. Alias will be made shortly. EDIT - Unless you meant the story feat was supposed to be assigned by you as the bonus feat? ![]()

I just need to finish up the amounts carried. And pretty up the stat block a bit. In the stat block I am using the Nemesis story feat, but I was wondering if any one thought the Lost Legacy story feat fit better. I am not sure what you think of me trying to restore the Iceni to prominence GM Stormchaser so I was hesitant to take it. @Chip Li & Magan - I am happy with that background with 1 change. One of the opposing party managed to escape me after I dealt him a grievous blow. He survived and is now my Nemesis for the story feat. EDIT - Changed my comment to Chip Li & Magan based on comments I hadn't seen and changed language from Common to Britonic. I think that would be the Icenic language group. ![]()
I am going to go with a Divine Commander Warpriest of Andraste, by the name of Prasutagus Iceni. Named after the last great Iceni king by his mother so that Prasutagus may watch over the end of their people, he is not sure if the name is a blessing or a curse. To finish up my crunch I just need to know two things, 1 - What would Andraste's sacred weapons be?
I'll be able to build pretty much everything even not knowing that stuff though so I should still be done building it soonish. For finalizing fluff, do we know each other before game start? And are there any significant changes to the area over what's on wikipedia that would be good to know about? ![]()
I am GMT-5, Center of Canada. As a player I am fairly detail oriented, know the rules well, and enjoy roleplaying. I am also very interested in roman and dark ages history, with the transition between the two eras being my favorite part. I also try to be team oriented and supporting, as its a group game. I also prefer dark/gritty settings over high fantasy, as I prefer a difficult game experience with a higher reliance on planning and preparation as compared to using magic. ![]()
My character concept is an Icenic worshipper of Andraste. He would be a wandering mercenary, taking what work they can to help provide for himself. He worships Andraste of old as she has always looked over his people and kept them alive even when the Romans invaded and oppressed them after they became allies. I am not sure if it would be a purely martial character or one with a connection to the divine. They will most likely fight with an ax and a shield. How is divine magic viewed in the world? ![]()

You must be able to see the space that you are moving into. You cannot take other creatures with you when you use this ability (except for familiars). You can move 5 feet for every two wizard levels you possess (minimum 5 feet). You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier Summoner's Charm (Su): Whenever you cast a conjuration (summoning) spell, increase the duration by a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1). This increase is not doubled by Extend Spell. At 20th level, you can change the duration of all summon monster spells to permanent. You can have no more than one summon monster spell made permanent in this way at one time. If you designate another summon monster spell as permanent, the previous spell immediately ends. Enodrus’ Backstory: Demanding. Harsh. Deadly. The Acadamae kills, maims, and traumatizes its students. The weak die, drop out or are dismissed. The strong survive to complete the start of their education, with graduation from the Acadamae only being the beginning of a lifetime of learning. Enodrus’ time at the Acadamae was standard for those who enrolled and were accepted. His first few years were torturous, serving the professors, instructors, and senior students as a slave. Those few friends he made in the beginning were all gone by the end of his fourth year, two dead to traps and another lost to shiver. For the remaining years Enodrus worked hard, breaking his body to surpass those around him. His study left little time for anything else and his mind was beginning to go by the end of his sixth year. It was then that Enodrus remembered the musings of an old classmate, their name forgotten. ”Shiver helps make it all go away for a while, no harm in that right?” The thought echoed in his mind for weeks after he first thought it. Enodrus was on top of his schooling, his family was safe and living happy lives, supporting him as they could. The only thing he was missing was time to stop for a bit and relax. Shiver might be able to help him stop thinking for a bit. There’s no harm in that right? Enodrus eventually thought. Seeking out and finding it, Enodrus began using shiver. At first it was only a bit. His schooling didn’t suffer, no one noticed anything out of the ordinary. Then another round of exams happened. Enodrus needed more and more breaks, and so used more and more shiver. Enodrus’ schooling began to suffer, but he was still passing, still allowed to stay. This slow decent went on for over a year. Eventually, during another set of tests, Enodrus took too much. Some of his acquaintances found him in his room, nearly dead. Help was gotten and though it was close Enodrus lived. The few months were hard. Constant cravings, seizing, and other withdrawal symptoms haunted Enodrus as he fought to get over his addiction. To focus his mind he hunted down the man responsible for its trafficking it to him. Enodrus promised himself that after his graduation he would hunt the man down and end his profiting off of others misery. One day Endrus would kill Gaedren Lamm. ![]()
GM Wolf wrote: Rostam I had not thought of using google earth or an actual city. It might be easier going that route, any suggestions? If you were going to do it I'd suggest: Kyoto Station, Hadano, or Nagoya. You could also do something like Tokyo, but I tried to give some options with more interesting terrain, 'easy' to leave the city area, and near both mountains rivers and lakes while still being pretty heavily populated. Any idea how long recruitment will run? I'm waiting till sunday at this point to make a character but could make one sooner if needed. ![]()

Describe the animals, people react more to the effects on animals than on other people. If you're in a city they're will be many stray dogs, cats etc, there will be horses, donkeys and other pack animals. Describe their braying, fleeing, wild panicked eyes at the start of the event. Describe seeing some running around bloodied, on fire, with broken limbs during the event. Finally, describe their dead bodies littering the city after the event. Basically, people expect people to die in natural disasters, but animals always seem to get them. ![]()
All thirty five of Bartek's followers are finished. I wish I had time to give them better back stories but I don't today. GM TWO, consider my application entirely finished except for any corrections/alterations you'd like me to make should I be selected. Also, good luck with picking the party, you've a pool of strong applications to go through from what I've looked over of everyone's characters. And thank you for offer such a potentially interesting game. ![]()
Here are Bartek Yaroslav and Kliment Yaroslav, brother's whose mission is to reduce the banditry coming from the Stolen Lands. I still need to finish the 2nd through 4th level followers that Bartek has, add a brief intro to Kliment's page above his stat block and giving a brief intro to each group of followers and why they are following Bartek in Bartek's page. I would like to submit them as complete now though for review as their mechanics and backstory are not going to change other than to conform with your feedback GM TWO. ![]()
Here is Alfred, I still need to pick spells, allocate skill ranks, and do some make in the offense section. And get the background into the alias. As for background, House Arvanxi fits what I am looking for. I've looked at hte pathfinder/golarion wiki's, but is there anything you specifically think I should know or need to be aware f since you taken a liking to them, DM Ray? ![]()
I am quite interested in this game and have built Bartek Yaroslav as my leader character. The crunch is in the link. I have filled out the recruitment sheet, excluding the scores and the cohorts first name and alignment. In the alias is a link to a spread sheet with my 30 first level followers statted out by area of expertise. They have spent pretty much all of their wealth by pooling it together with some of Bartek's to purchase expedition supplies, which are all in the caravan tab of the spread sheet. Writing up the full back story, the cohort stats, and the last 5 followers will take a few more days/weeks, but I figured I would submit this now. If there are any crunch issues, or if you want more detailed information on anything, please let me know. ![]()
A bit on my planned character. I will be playing a halfling archaeologist bard, focusing on ranged combat and buff/investigative magic. In my mind he is a gentleman, some fourth son of a third son with no real claim to a title, but who is still allowed in Society. To get by he has become very good at trafficking information, and helping set up scenarios of extortion, blackmail, and other information. It has come to the point where he wants to make a move into the nobility, and has earned the trust of the others due to past meetings/services rendered. That's why he is here helping them out, the others get a bit higher in the nobility and he has access to a higher level of nobles courts to perform his work in. I'm still finishing up the crunch, but if anyone wants to collaborate on back story a bit I'd be up for it. ![]()
I think we will just have to leave this as a difference in expectations, as I believe it would require a fairly low level to pull off the majority of my suggested Rahadoum plan. Most of it is simply being live bait, spreading rumours (which I had considered significant enough to fall under the no rolls allowed here interaction area), and framing others for committing crimes. I don't feel that those types of tactics take particularly high level characters to pull off and sit squarely in mundane military elite (so around level 5/6) territory. ![]()
If people are talking about starting level, then depending on what exactly is expected out of the first bit I would suggest starting around 5th level. Some of the early stuff, especially for my Rahadoum idea, can be done then, it makes characters easier to build (especially if going gestalt) and you had mentioned doing an in cheliax mission or intro mission first, which makes that easier to do (go from say 5th to 6th in it). That's just my take on it though
