"I apologize, I'm not an expert when it comes to things involving physical prowess. Tackle him? Bare-fisted uppercut to the jaw? Wrestling? Whatever it takes!" Gavin chuckles softly as he states with sarcasm, "You DO know you're bigger than he is, right?"
As Laëlynn and Mal and Gavin run off after the goblin you are able to catch it and tie it up reasonably well but just as your about to start questioning it the three of you hear a vial scream. You look up and you see the head off a dog get cut clean off, blood spewing everywhere. The body manages to stand, headless, for a few seconds before dropping to the ground. A strange frail looking man in blue robes screams again and, seeing you, starts calling for help which only attracks the attention of more goblins.
Everyone else:
Three of the people who were helping you rush off and moments later you here a horid scream coming from just to the north. Assuming you rush forward to investigate you see your three friends with a tied up goblin, a frail looking man in blue robes getting surrounded by goblins, and the body of another headless dog. You can tell its a very fresh kill
Hmm looking at those dice rolls this is going to be interesting lol. Go ahead and post your actions. There was no new map image given for the area so I just recycled the old map and its been updated.
Mal sighs to himself and thinks, Looks like it might be a bit before we're done with with this today, then chugs the contents of his drinking horn. With a loud belch, he says, "Grrr. Protect the man, kill the gobs... Grrrrr." He stares at the closest goblin, growling.
Move action to drink, swift to enter bloodrage. Going to have 3 more hp, -2 AC, +4 Fort, -2 Reflex, +4 Will, +2 vs Mind affecting. Standard action to intimidate.
Hey Laelynn can you please include your attack and damange roll. You are able to power attack since that wagon isn't there so I'll allow the charge/power attack
Tiyeri wasn't used to fight and never was engaged in such a long combat. Confused by the swiftness of the actions she calmed her mind trying to elaborate the informations her senses gave her.

Seeing the strange man in danger, overwhelmed by goblins, she yelled at him:
"Quick! Go away!"
Move action; Cast 1st-lvl "Murderous Command" (DC16) to the strongest enemy in range (25 ft), (if skill check is needed to recognize strongest enemy just tell me) otherwise to the farthest goblin I can reach (hoping this time he will not die before lol)
With an angry hiss Jast rushes at the nearest goblin.

Seeing as others are taking actions Areth swears to himself and cast again one Lightning Arc towards goblins as he moves closer and trying to avoid hitting one of the other combatants
Round 1 recap:
Areth your lightning arc connects with the goblin in front of you. The goblin in the back of the group begins to sing. Gavin you are pretty sure that the man in blue is telling the truth. The goblin that killed the mans dog smiles a wide grin at Jastheriga charges up and tries to grapple him. The goblin tries to take a slice at the snake. The goblin strikes true cutting into the snake for 7 points of damage. Jastheriga because of the pain wracking your body you fail to get a hold of the goblin. Mal you are able to intimidate 3 of the goblins on the field and they become shaken for the next round. Laelynn you charge forward but you whiff on your attack. A goblin will return the favor, swinging his sword at Laelynn. His sword goes wide however. Another goblin takes a 5 foot step at attacks Laelynn. He to misses horribly. Another goblin moves up at attacks Jastheriga. His sword strikes true striking the snake through the chest for another 6 damage. Tiyeri you cast your spell on one of the two goblins attacking Jastheriga but it resists the spell.
Top of the round so everyone post your round 2 actions. I might point out that Jastheriga is at 0 hp right now so he can act in the second round but will pass out after that if someone doesn't heal him.
Tiyeri:
Longshanks is what goblins call humans. This implies that the goblins are working with humans to attack the city.

I'm still having difficulty seeing the map from the iPad. Both the top and the bottom are being cut off, so I can't see where the PC's or the goblins are standing. I'll try to look at the map on my home PC tonight and may make a 5' step for tactics.
Laelynn shouts at the goblin, "Off of him, you vermin!" She raises her elven blade in an attack position and studies the goblin in front of her for a brief moment.
Actually he is in trouble, but Jastheriga is raging so he has 15 hp. I didn't think to put his raging stats up there. I will get that added shortly.
.
In his frustration and anger, Jast forgets about Gavin's request for a live specimen. He attempts to disembowel the goblin in front of him.

Gavin sees a goblin out of the corner of his eye and moves away.
"Not so fast you little green meanie!
After making his way out of "danger", Gavin focuses on whichever goblin seems to have taken the most damage.
"Facio, Voco, Ferre."
Draconic:
"This I do, I call, to bring you forth."
At the end of an intricate arm motion, he flicks his wrist toward the goblin as if tossing a small rock, but instead of a rock, a glob of green goo appears and arcs towards the goblin.

Seeing that the lizard-like-human took damage but was almost instantly healed by the smaller fighter Areth considers for a moment before launching another Lightning Arc toward his enemies
Going to retcon your action a little Areth since you go before Tiyeri and Jastheriga is in desperate need of healing. You are down a first level spell as you will clw him.
Round 2 recap:
Areth seeing your companion squaring off with a particularly nasty goblin you rush forward to his side and heal him for 5 hit points. The goblin in the back of the group looks at Mal and points at him while continuing to sing. A moment later Mal is over come with the uncontrolable urge to laugh. Not willing to resist he busts out into laughter, falling prone as he does so. Gavin you lob an orb of acid at one of the goblins in front of Laelynn but you miss. The goblin that messed up Jastheriga lets out a warcry as he swings his sword and the lizard one more time. The sword catches Jastheriga right in the gut and doing 6 points of damage. Jastheriga your anger gets the best of you as you tare into the bastard goblin in front of you disemboweling him with your class, a shower of blood washes over you which you find slightly comforting. Unfortunatly it took both of your claws to bring him down. Mal you are unable to act this round as you burst out laughing but you will be able to make another will save at the start of the next round to over come the spell she cast on you. Laelynn you whiff on your attack. A goblin will return the favor, swinging his sword at Laelynn. His sword goes wide however. Another goblin swings at a prone Mal but he misses as Mal is rolling on the ground laughing to hard to be hit. The other goblin that was standing next to the one that Jastheriga disembowled runs away screaming. Tiyeri you cast your spell and Jasteriga is healed another 9 HP.

Areth your spell goes off giving Jastheriga a boost of strength. The goblin in the back of the group continues to sing and makes her way towards Laelynn, drawing her whip as she moves. She lashes out at the womans feet with her whip trying to trip her. Laelynn catches to goblin off guard and drives her weapon into the goblins throat, severing its head from its body. Gavin you lob an orb of acid at one of the goblins in front of Laelynn but you miss. Jastheriga with the singing goblin dead you focus on the other goblins in front of you. You take a 5 foot step and getting a full round of attacks off. Your first claw hits the one directly in front of Laelynn and it drops dead. The second claw misses the other goblin however. Seeing that he was the only goblin left on the field the other goblin turns tail and runs. Anyone doing to persue him?
Laelynn chases after the last goblin determined to not let it get away. "Your may be spared if you surrender! Continue to run... and I'll cut you down!"
Jast will pursue to batter unconscious. He has a move of 40', but only 2 rounds of rage left. If he doesn't catch it in 2 rounds, he will be too tired coming out of rage to keep up.

Turning to look at the battlefield and the chaos which the goblin caused, he hurriedly moves to pick up his crossbow and then to check out the other places in the town to see if someone would need help
Hello all. This is the out of character Discussion thread for the Raise of the runelords game. Please post completed alias's here when you have them done and feel free to ask any questions you have for me or eachother here. Try to keep most out of character chatter to this thread please and out of the game play thread. A few comments here or there in gameplay is fine but long drawn out things should be kept here.
A question for you to ponder:Do ya'll want to wait until Monday to get this started or do you want me throwing up a game thread either today or Friday? I can go either way the reason I am somewhat leaning towards starting Monday is it would give everyone a chance to get alias's done and I hate to spoil something but this AP has a 50/50 chance to start with combat and combat(which usually drags) over weekends(which are slow) is usually a bad idea.
Now there is a chance for you guys to explore the festival a little bit if you would rather do that and start either today or tomorrow. Its up to you how you want to do this. Lets take a vote and general consensus wins.
And yes you can take Thassilonian as a bonus language if you qualify for it. As a Female Catfolk you will not qualify for it but put a point in linguistics and you're good to go that can be your bonus language from linguistics.
SOMEONE SHOULD SPEAK THASSILONIAN guys..thats a HUGE hint. Probably to much of one honestly lol.
Portents are auspicious now!
.
Why no drinks? I said you were better than most mammals. ;)
.
I'll buy his gear and get it put into the alt this evening or early tomorrow morning.
Is Varisian too a Language where i need linguistics? Cause i got one more language besides common and cat folk for my int score, was where to put it. I thought about Elven but I think it doesn't fit the character's BG... Varisian felt better... Otherwise guys and girls any suggestions ?
There is a list of languages that Catfolk can get as bonus languages and unfortunately you can only choose from that list...I don't remember what it is off the top of my head...

Laelynn has Thassilonian... her elvish father had explored the some of the ancient ruins and picked up the language to pass along to her.
Question for the group and DM_Mathpro: At level 2, I can get trapfinding although it slows down my feat progression, specifically melee combat, that I had been considering. Would it be advantageous or necessary for this AP... or would the group want to get creative with work arounds for any traps. This is just the OC side of me starting to plan the first few levels.

@Laëlynn - tough question to answer this early, and never having played it... I can't metagame a "suggestion". I say, build your character however your most interested in. Trapfinder has it's merits, but so does combat. 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other. Unfortunately for you OCD, I think the decision will have to wait until you get to level 2 and decide which of the 2 paths "would" have served you/party better from previous play.
Bought the little bit more gear that he could afford.
All the stats are in the Icon.
Laelynn, personally I rarely feel that having someone with trapfinding is worthless. Especially if they also have a high perception, disable device, and stealth.
One the other hand usually traps in PF aren't that lethal. So many people just do without.
Laelynn I think Gavin is right but on the other hand you are the only "skilled" character in our party. but it sound fun trying different ways of approach to traps... hence yes i think you should do as you feel and like
@Laelynn: Trapfinding is always useful, but not necessarily mandatory. Though we do have two juggernauts for melee, but you might have to do clean after when rage ourselves into fatigue. On the other hand, we have two healers to (hopefully) put us back together when we miss a trap. I say, do it however ya want. You can't plan for everything, unless maybe we had five more PC's.
Male Human Fighter 4/Arcanist 1: HP (41/41): AC (19/touch=14/flat=15): Saves (Fort=6/Ref=6/Will=4): Initiative +4: Perception +9: Sense Motive +0
so looks like we got:
4 humans
1 snake
1 cat
with a quick glance, I'm assuming our cleric and oracle are NOT planning on getting into melee (unless the cat grabs weapon finesse).
fair warning: I've never played as or with slayer or bloodrager. Any special tactics your characters use/need to work well? (i.e. - rogues need flanking, barbarians need clear line to charge, ect.)
Thanks for the input on trap finding. I'll see how this first level goes, and grab it if it looks like we need it.
Slayers get full BAB, slower progression on sneak attack damage than rogues, and no spells. As I get a bonus for taking a move action to study an enemy, I'll likely prefer to fight from range until the enemy engages us, then move to melee. However, depending on the preferences of the bloodragers, I may change that tactic.
Based on our level 1 builds, party roles potentially break down like this:
Aerith: Healer, Buffer, Secondary Face
Gavin: Blaster, Smart Guy
Tiyeri: Face, Smart Guy, Controller, Secondary Healer, Secondary Blaster
Laelynn: Tactical Combat, Leadership
Mal & Jastheriga: RARR!! SMASH!!
If I had any suggestions for the party right now it would be for Laelynn to pick up Knowledge (Dungeoneering) ASAP, since you're the only one I think that has that as a class skill and it would be nice if somebody can say "Hey, that's an Aberration!"
Also, the party is kinda weak on perception, stealth and ranged combat.
Well, I can only extrapolate so much from level one spell selections. You've got magic missiles that can knock people over... And I don't want anyone to feel like I'm saying "YOU MUST PLAY YOUR CHARACTER BY MY NARROW AND VAGUELY DEFINED SUMMARY!"
Barfendor! 'Nother round. One fer th wisserd! Ee lookss like ma unncle Pfffilbert.

Well, I am going for in the later levels full ability booster and ranged attack blocker. Plus getting some minions to the battlefield or blasting my lightning based skill on the further targets
I know the design I have in mind is going to be more about survivability than just dealing out raw damage. And the Arcane bloodline makes him well suited for beating on pesky bad-guy casters.
i'm goin on full knowledge so i guess there is no need for you to spend extra points in those sections, you should focus other things unless obviously you like knowledge as me xD but i can have like a +20 boost on knowledge or a +10 repeating the roll so yeah i hope sincerely i got that covered, and i'm planning to have at least one rank in every knowledge skill though as Gavin said i don't have infinite points at first level
And yeah i'm not so much of a healer, i had more the idea of a controller but it can be changed while leveling up if more heal potential is needed or if other areas are to be covered :)
So guys I've been thinking. I think I'm thing to throw up the game play thread today and give you guys a bit of a chance at some foreshadowing and such before the real fun starts on Monday.
Just a fair warning heads up for all of you:
I will not be posting much this weekend. I'm currently going back to college to try to raise my GPA high enough to get into a PhD program. Finals are 3 weeks away and I have a CRAP TON of homework to get done this weekend. Plus my wife doesn't know I'm running games here again so I can't really post while I'm at home when she's not at work and I'm not sure what her work hours are...so won't be on much.
I am willing to let you guys roleplay and interact with a few key NPC's that I want to introduce you guys to before things kick off just know it won't be heavy responses from me unless my wife is at work and my sister in law doesn't notice the laptop in my lap and I need a trig/calculus break(which is going to be required I'm sure).
Oh and while I'm rambling I thought I should update my posting availability. As I mentioned in the recruitment thread I am available to post Monday-Thursday from 11-3 and Friday from 8-12. But Tuesday, Thurday, and Friday are the easier days for me to post during those times because on Monday and Thursday I have classes I TA in so my attention should be on the students lol.
Game play thread is up and live if you guys want to start posting in it. Don't worry I won't require daily posts until Monday I was just eager to get things under way and give me something to do rather than Calculus homework while at work today lol.
