Agreed. I will start doing this.

Well, that *is* your job. As far as I'm concerned, you're kickin' it.. :-)

FYI, I'll give today for any questions you might have, then kick off the boarding process tonight when I have time to put together a map, etc.
Also, regarding pace of play. We're currently moving at about 2 weeks per quest, which means we won't quite have enough time to finish things before the PBP Gameday deadline. When I played the quests in person the last three were much quicker than the first two, so that might help us along, but we'll have to wait and see. At the very least none of the last three quests are as much of a slog as the one we just finished. There's only one space battle and it's a LOT faster than the fight with the Endless Threnody.
My current plan, for what it's worth, is to assume we'll finish 4 quests before the deadline, which will allow me to report the game (the XP and Fame you get from 4 quests is exactly the same as for 5 quests in this case), and let us qualify for any game day boons, etc. Then we can finish off the remainder of quest 5 afterwards if we have to.
That said, if we could make an effort to move things along as we enter the second half of this it would be a good thing ;-)

I shall endeavor to post as often as possible, but in the event I'm holding up the action, feel free to bot me.

@GM, do we have specs on the Odyssey?

A Tier 4 starship? W00t! Livin' large!
Is the bowling alley still on deck 43, or did it move closer to the driving range on deck 104?

I'm thinking of changing the stats of my mechanic. Is there anything noteworthy I need to do in the chronicle sheet?

Okay, it seems the thing is over. GM Garret, I've had a super fun gaming experience. I have not always been able to roleplay Rik as I would have wanted, but in my mind he was a fun character, on par with the rest of the team. Gratz everyone for your superb job.
Now, since it's the first time I play a Society character, I would rob you all of a minute and ask you: What now?
I mean, what do I do now? What if I want Rik in another SFS game, do I have to keep a copy of the Chronicle Sheet or something? Do we get some rewards, like money or whatever (apart from XP and the fun of playing, of course)?
Sorry if these are silly questions, but I thought who better to explain than people who've had the experience before. Thank you guys in advance!

Basically yes, you keep a stack of Chronicle sheets along with your character sheet and bring them to subsequent games where you want to play this character.
Chronicle sheets serve a few purposes. They track the rewards you got from each mission (i.e. XP, credits, items you may have found, etc), and they also serve as a way to keep track of what you're spending those rewards on. So for XP they just track your total (you usually get 1 XP for an adventure and every 3 XP levels you up), but for credits you track both what you earn in an adventure and what you spend on gear. When you find special items in an adventure it can unlock access to them so you can purchase them earlier than you might otherwise be able to (the details on this are in the SFS Guide). You don't just automatically get the items though, you still have to pay the price on the sheet. You also track accumulated fame, which can be spent on various things (for example, you can burn a bunch of fame to get rescued if your ship blows up, or to be raised from the dead, etc), see the SFS Guide for details.
There are also story based rewards called Boons, which are special things your character can do based on what happened in the story. For example, because you defeated the Lawblight this chronicle sheet will have the following Boon on it:
You defeated the dreaded Besmaran pirate ship, Lawblight, showcasing your determination during an intense starship combat. This boon activates anytime your starship is reduced to 0 or fewer Hull Points. Your starship immediately regains a number of Hull Points equal to its tier × 5. A starship can never regain more than 30 Hull Points in this manner. A starship can never have more than one of these boons attached to it. When this boon activates, cross it off your Chronicle sheet
There are more rules on Boons in the SFS Guide.

Ahh, I see. So in this case, I must keep a digitalised copy of the Chronicle Sheet.
Yep. I'll give you a copy with all the GM specific bits filled in, then you'll need to fill in the PC parts of it (either digitally, or you can print it out, fill it in by hand, and scan it again later).

Thanks for running this Gm Garrett. I haven't really figured out what to do with this character as far as a personality but I do have an idea of how the game plays now and I like it. I actually lowered my computers score before we started and spread some points out because I thought I might be over specialized in one thing, but it turns out... those DCs were hard for me to hit!
Thanks to the other players too for making it all the way through despite the forums becoming more or less non functional for most of a week in the middle there. I'd look forward to running into any of you on any future pbp games :)
I'll look for the Chronicle sheet as a PM whenever you manage GM.
Cheers!
