Shel passes on the offer of fish. She was quite happy to eat her apples and potato rolls. She allows the others to work out the terms of the deal with Ruckus, taking copious notes as they did so. She had to poke Harsk and get him to spell some of the words in giant for her exact translation.

"If only Dalia was here. She'd be able to offer the perfect wine to make this... palatable..."

Bluff, Take 10: 10 + 8 = 18

Azara smiles and nods affirmingly as she chokes down the salty meat.

She then turns to Harsk, "Mind if you translate for me?"

Holding up the partially eaten fish to Ruckus, "You know, Ruckus, I have a friend that could really use your... Strength. And she can pay you in goods tastier than salted fish. Could you lead others to battle?" She gestures to sounds of the snoring Troll in the other room. "You could be a sort of... Ambassador. Leader. Of Trolls. Does that sound good? Prove your strength, and maybe you could lead an entire Troll army. And get paid for it!"

I was wrong about the DC. It's 14+8+0= DC 22

I don't believe that non-faction members can aid with recruitment, so that's that.

"No shaqada sida is hadda," he says, still chewing on his fish.

Giant:

Juniper will recruit him to join the Silver Crusade. I don't think there is a faction check box for this, but it amuses me to imagine Juniper bringing a troll back to work for all of those paladins.

Although Ruckus wasn't interested in leading a troll army for Sovereign Court, apparently the thought of fighting demons in the World Wound intrigues him. "Waxay heshay kalluunka?"

Giant:
"They got fish?"

Once he's satisfied that there is fish in Mendev, he starts packing for the trip. He dumps his wounded and still regenerating troll companion on the ogre, and then starts crudely rolling smoked fish and ale into a blanket before tying it off and preparing to go, crown still firmly on his head.

On your way back into Averaka, you meet the first of several squadrons returning from the northern half of Flintyreach. Councillor Kalla comes up to you, thumping some of you hard on the back, while hugging others in an overly forceful bear hug. "Heh! It's the heroes of the battle of Little Thunder! Did you lot have any luck with those old ruins of yours?"

And then more quietly, she asks, "Did you find any sign of Hagal?"

Kiku nods, her posture revealing her exhaustion.

"Yes, on both counts, though the answers we found will bring little happiness."

She thinks back to the dead ettin and its last words, the horrible death of Hagal, and how she was unable to prevent either.

"I am very sorry. I wish I was capable of more."

On hearing the news of Hagal's passing, Councillor Kalla sobers, then takes Kiku's hands. "He was already gone when you set out. You just allowed us to mourn him properly."

The half-orc troops fall in with you, telling you news of the fighting elsewhere. "We chased the giants from the lowlands, then fought them deeper into the hills!" An old grizzled half orc snorts. "The giants entrenched themselves and fended us off, but before that we gave Chief Gorgnak a nasty gut wound."

"We managed to bring down three or four of his subchiefs, then forced Gorgnak to flee the battlefield!" Councillor Kalla grins, her long tusks gleaming in the sunlight. "They'll not be able to rally anytime soon."

With your assistance in dislodging the giants from the Little Thunder, the water supply to Averaka returns to normal, and the half-orcs' spirits are high. Back in Averaka, the populace throws an enormous party on your behalf, with music, strong ale and all sorts of *ahem* hot local cuisine.

All the councilors thank you for your assistance. Bravok shakes all your hands. "Please, consider our town your home away from home. You will always be welcome here."

After a few days of rest, a local captain sails you back to Magnimar in her ship, and you bid farewell to the little town on the isle of Flintyreach.

Before I Forget

Your Chronicle Sheets

Sorry, they may be dated for the 20th, but I wasn't sure how long the closing credits might take. You're a chatty group!

For Those Who Like Such Details

Success Condition Information:

Primary Success Conditions
The PCs complete their primary mission if they secure and explore the Thassilonian ruins in area D. Doing so requires sufficient investigation to trigger or disable the optional trap. Doing so earns each PC 1 Prestige Point.

Nailed it. Fortunately, Shel both perceived and disabled the trap, which meant that you evaded the Curse of Belimarius as a negative boon on your sheets.

Secondary Success Conditions
The PCs' secondary goals involve working well with and making good impression on the people of Averaka. To do so, the PCs must fulfill two of the following three objectives: Earn 11 or more Influence while in Averaka, conclude the encounter in area A with the 3 or more NPC hit points, or return Hagal's notebook (see area B) to Averaka. Fulfilling this goal earns each PC 1 additional Prestige Point and earns each PC the Averaka-Trained boon on her Chronicle sheet.

This diplomatic group earned 14 influence, just short of the 15 that is maximum tier! The Averakans ended the battle with 3 hit points.

You each earned the Averaka-Trained boon!

Faction Notes:

Faction Notes
Members of the Scarab Sages faction should endear themselves to Dhiara and demonstrate their and their faction's worth to the elf. To fulfill this objective, a member of the faction must earn 1 Influence with her during the war council in Averaka; a faction PC fulfills this objective even if a member unaffiliated with the Scarab Sages earns the Influence that Dhiara can grant. Second, a member of the faction must perform an exceptional deed in area A in order to mitigate damage to the half-orc soldiers, such as by disabling a hill giant that is attacking the Averakans, directing half-orcs to increase their armor class, or a similarly noteworthy action at the GM's discretion. If the Scarab Sages faction PCs fulfill this objective, they automatically cross the Curse of Belimarius boon off their Chronicle sheets and increase the number of boxes they can check on any Scarab Sages faction journal card by 1 for this adventure.

Kiku, you went out of your way to save a dying Averakan soldier, and you succeeded in influencing Dhiara. As a result, you get two cross boxes off your Scarab Sages faction journal card.

Linda Zayas-Palmer wrote:

For the scarab sages faction journal card:

Goal 1) You explore an area of the ruin that is sufficiently large for the first checkbox.
Goal 2) The NPC that the sages are interested in counts. In fact, after discussing this special case with John, if you recruit her as a part of the scenario (which you must do to get the ability to check off two boxes in the first place), you can check off one of the boxes for goal 2 automatically without having to roll a skill check.
Goal 7) As you pointed out, you can mark off the 4 ranks checkbox.

Alternatively, you can mark off one box on each of your cards for seasons 6 and 7.

TL/DR: You all get full prestige, and Kiku gets to check off two boxes on her Scarab Sages faction journal card.

If anyone else still has rolls to do for faction sheets, or wishes to say something to someone in Averaka, we can still do it as a Closing Credits Easter Egg!

Thank you all for a fabulous adventure! I'll get this reported to Jesse (IronHelixx, the VC running this event) later today.

Awesome! Two checkboxes for Kiku!

Kiku approaches Dhiara before the group leaves, bowing to her once more.

"I wanted to just thank you one more time for agreeing to help the Sages in their work. Today made it very clear that there are still many terrors of the ancient world that lurk in dark places. With your help, we can destroy them and uncover the exalted secret knowledge of the past."

Kiku also takes the time to stop and formally thank each of the Councillors, as well as offering her services one last time to any families in need of healing or funerary services.

Later, at the docks in front of the boat that will take the Pathfinders back to Absalom, Kiku she finds a quiet pier and stops and looks out to the sea. She whistles a long, clear note out towards the water. She waits, listening for a long minute. She finally nods solemnly to herself, whispers a short prayer to Ashava, and returns to the group.

Azara exits a small shack near the docks, apparently arguing with a homely Half-orc woman from inside.

"What do you mean 'it can't be cleaned'? You advertised magical services!"

"Uhm sarry m'lady, but it jus' won't clean up. Ya got sum mighty deep stains, and I only got ol' prest'digi'ation. What was ya doin' wit' it? Cleanin' chimneys?"

Obviously miffed, Azara pockets what appears to be a frayed, dirty, salt-encrusted scrap of blue fabric before walking towards the end of the docks. She taps her foot impatiently as she waits for the ship to moor.

"I need a drink."

Thanks, everyone! This was a blast!!

In the sleepy morning hours, the oven warms in a small bakery. From the apartment above can be heard the echoes of two voices talking and laughing softly in the dark.

"Åh Tabi, jeg har aldrig før haft noget at komme tilbage til. Når jeg ikke er off eventyr, ville jeg elske et sted så hyggeligt som dette til at ringe hjem. En varm ovn, varme boller ... en varm seng. Vil du have mig, Tabi?"

Orc:
"Oh Tabi, I've never before had something to come back to. When I am not off adventuring, I would love a place as cozy as this to call home. A warm oven, warm buns... a warm bed. Will you have me, Tabi?"

Before heading for the docks later that morning, Grigorii stops by each of the Councillors to discuss any needs the town might have. Making promises to return swiftly with some of the less common trade goods from the south, he bids them farewell. He sings softly to himself as the ship readies to make way. "buns, girl... hmmhmm hmm hm hm"

Thanks, everyone for a wonderful time
