Game Master Hmm

"No problem about the fire! My crossbow has fire bolts! As to the trolls surrendering, I think we should make sure they don't come back to stroke against the half orcs later. Not that I'm saying we should slaughter them mercilessly, just that we should be cautious."

"I have a potion that grants flight, so I can lead the assault on the Peryton if need be with Harsk as support," and then turning to Harsk, "though you should probably fire a couple bolts into the leader right away."

Before we leave our hiding spot Azara will drink her potion of Fly, and before we enter the lodge Azara will coat her scimitar with her oil of Bless Weapon, and draw her blue scarf.

"Oh, what an annoyance. When did this thing get so dirty?"

Shel: You had a great look at the main room, but from the size of the lodge you think there may be a few rooms you haven't seen.

"Oh, I forgot to to mention, it looked like there might be another room or two. Our guy might be back there. But when we strike, we need to hit that first room hard, because the possibility of reinforcements is high."

"Such a strange beast. But, we can surely prevail."

Grigorii makes sure Glorymane is strapped tight to his arm.

"Harsk said something about ogres on a mission. Perhaps this Shakras leads one of the factions opposing Gorgnak? Let us be sure to get what information we can from them."

Grigorii then casts moment of greatness on the party.

So... How are you approaching? Are you knocking on the door or running in like a SWAT attack force?

"Well, I think we might try the diplomatic approach first. If that doesn't work, we can unleash the fiery death upon them. Anyone feel like a diplomat?"

I think there are people in the group more skilled than Shel at Diplomacy, if they want to take point.

Shel has the highest Diplomacy bonus, with Azara and Kiku not far behind. I don't mind casting heroism on her for an extra bit of morale

We need Harsk to help translate, but Shel would be happy to take the lead. Once the rest of the group decides how to position themselves, and where, Shel will walk to the front. I assume Harsk accompanies her, and anyone else interested would be fine as well. If anyone has any thoughts on what our message needs to be, please advise as it would be appreciated.

Shel takes a deep breath and approaches the front door, with a tiny rap, she pokes her head in and looks around. "Hello mighty trolls and peryton, I'm Shel. We are here looking for our scout half orc friend. I don't suppose you have seen smaller folk, or are holding him? If so, we'd like to bargain for his return. If you are open to negotiations, we might also have some other things to discuss to interest you."

Diplomacy 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27

Harsk is a dwarf. He'll translate for Shel. He has his crossbow in his hand but pointed at the ground. The badger just stands next to him.

Hagal is a half-orc

The trolls at the table stand up, snarling.

”Socotadu?” Shakras steps off his throne, first confused, then delighted. ”Caawi ii!” He holds out a hand to the others. ”Ma cutada, weli!”

”Ma cuto?” The trolls step back confused. Then one brightens. ”Ciyaaro kulanka?” He makes a chopping motion, and gestures welcomingly to the table and the bowl.

Juniper moves to the front with Shel, her shield in one hand and wand in the other. "I will protect you during negotiations."

I can also use Aid Another on Diplomacy. I automatically succeed and grant a +4 bonus.

I shoved myself between Shel and Harsk so that if things go south I can boost both of their ACs.

As Harsk translates, Shel tries to think of a way to get out of playing their horrible game. "If you give me our half orc frind, I will watch the two of you play the game. The winner can have this," she says as she presents the crown she took earlier with a flourish. "Who wants to be crowned the Great Troll Champion?!"

"What is this game they play? It looks dangerous, but if anyone can match their skill, it is your most delicate hands, Shel"

Juniper steps forward. "Harsk, please translate the following for them.

"Ahem. Certainly we are no match for you at Troll Finger, but as my esteemed colleague here," she gestures to Shel, "has suggested, we make a fine audience for your rousing game. We shall cheer loudly for the winner and 'BOO' tremendously at the loser. Doesn't that sound nice?"

Kiku smiles as she realizes that the party is trying the non-violent approach. Her smile widens as she sees that the trolls appear content to treat with the party for the time being.

"Maybe they want us to play with them?"

Azara steps to the side so it doesn't seem like the doors are crowded with people.

Since we decided on Diplomacy, I won't have my sword drawn, and I will not have drank my potion of Fly or applied my oil of Bless Weapon. I will hold my scarf, though.

Harsk translates what Juniper said although he looks very skeptical..and mutters very softly to himself "Not food yet my behind...humph"

Thanks to Shel and Juniper's quick thinking and silver-tongued diplomacy, the trolls are soon convinced that you all make a better audience than competition. They get very excited about playing Troll Finger with their own personal squad of halfling cheerleaders. They launch into a fast-paced and furious game. Eventually, one troll misses a key chop, and the other troll takes the crown and the salted goat carcass and starts to dance around the room. "Kooxda heysata horyaalka bahal weyn!"

The loser troll kicks the table, upending the bowl of fingers all over the floor. "Yaa dan!?"

Shakras joins in the clapping, then gestures for all of you to sit. "Cun! Cab! Markaas ganacsiga!" Underchief Shakras offers you all some salted fish and saltier ale, and then explains his problem. Apparently Chief Gorgnak sent these trolls and some ogres up here to deal with a rogue ettin named Pahg-Vahr, who wants to be chief herself. "Iyagii u diray inay ogres burburkiisii ​​hore! Ogres carrab la 'ma soo laabtaan!" His mouth widens in a big toothy smile. ”Tag jajabkiisa, dilaan ettin ah, iyo amar ku ogres si ay dib ugu qollad gurguurto, iyo Dambi Dhaaf baryayaa!”

Can I do a Sense Motive to see if they're going to ambush us later/they're holding something back?

"Do they have Hagal or don't they? I'm not going doing a troll's business unless the man is safe."

"Yes, we would like to see that the man is safe." Juniper puts her wand away as she climbs up into the giant chairs.

"OOMPH! Clumsy me." She falls down once, brushes herself off, then tries again.

"That's better," she says as she stands on the chair.

Turning toward Shakras, Juniper asks, "When was the last time you guys cleaned out your chimney?"

Profession (chimney sweep): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 :D I have no idea!

When Grigorii’s question is translated, Shakras looks slyly to the side and asks, ”Yaa ka Hagal?” But it's Juniper's question that really confuses him. "Shooladda nadiif ah?"

Azara, Harsk, Shel and Yojimbo all notice the very nice "knife" that Shakras is carrying. It’s a medium-sized sword.

Sense Motive: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 2 = 13
"Look Mr. Shakras, we both well know that you know who Hagel is. Return him to us and we will take care of this ettin problem for you. You have my word, as I swear an oath to Apsu."

Diplomacy, Aid Another: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 Yikes! At least it's good enough to aid. :) +4 for Shel.

"Shakras, you are carrying his sword. It has an Averakan maker’s mark on it. Now, we will not cooperate with you if you are not honest with us. Givbe us back our man, and we might take care fo the imposter king for you. If not, we will not be friends like we are now."

Grigorii moves to stand beside a chair at the end of the table, a hand clenched into a tight fist.

To his companions, "These monsters should pay for their crimes."

Hroku the Peryton starts giggling. ”Bajin!”

Shakras looks you all over. ”No shaqo la'aan cagaaran? Bah. CUTADA!”

Hroku flies at Juniper and just barely hits the dodgy little chimney sweep.

Shakras pulls a potion from his belt and drinks.

Harsk first his crossbow at the troll leader.

All of Harsk's bolts hit home, and he does confirm the critical. Shakras looks mildly scuffed.

Don't forget that everyone within 20 feet of Yojimbo has a +2 competence bonus to attack rolls and saving throws!

Kiku sighs as she notices that negotiations are taking a turn for the worst.

She raises her staff, waving it around in increasingly wide circles.

"Desna, let us fly into battle with the speed of the stars. Haste!"

Unfortunately, I can't hit Juniper with Haste, as no two targets can be more than 30 feet away from each other :(

I guess this means Harsk's badger gets haste this time lol

Yojimbo scoffs at the pitiful attempts of the trolls to deceive his master, adjusting himself into a battle stance.

Hastened once more by his master, Yojimbo charges at the closest troll, slashing out with a lightning-fast strike from his sheathed ectoplasmic sword.

Slam (charge, haste, piranha strike): 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 31

Kiku hastes the party. Yojimbo slams into the nearest blue troll, and crits him.

Azara fixes her gaze on the Peryton and jumps up onto the table, drawing her Virdium Scimitar as she moves.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24 (+12 of that is from Haste)

She balances into a flank with the Halfling but comes dangerously close to the magical beast as she does so.

"Oh? Clumsy me, was that you I just brushed up against? And I haven't even had any wine, yet!"

Assuming the Peryton takes an AoO on me:

Azara then takes a swipe from behind the bewildered creature.

Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 1 = 24 (If Juniper threatens, then add +2 for flanking)

Assuming those all hit, and it's still alive, I need it to make a DC 13 Fort vs Poison or take 1 Con damage ^^.

Oooo, add +2 to-hit on the Parry and both Ripostes (but not the actual attack). I would have been exactly 20ft from Yojimbo at that moment =)

Shel will use Acrobatics and/or delay until a flank is available for her. If she needs to use Acrobatics, here is my roll. If she doesn't need to do so, then she will full attack with her two magical kukri and sneak attack.

Azara does not beat the peryton's CMD, so indeed takes an attack of opportunity.

With the +2 from Yojimbo, Azara successfully parries the attack, crits, and has everything hit with that magical scimitar of hers. She slices, dices and makes julienne fries out of the peryton. It dies with a screech.

The red troll moves forward and attempts to bite Azara.

Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

It misses.

The blue troll, not needing to move, regenerates and full attacks Yojimbo.

Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Those all miss too, leaving the Blue troll confused.

"Oh ho!" Juniper smiles as she readies her shield.

"Thanks, Az! That thing gored me but good." She quickly lays a healing hand on herself, then ducks off the chair and runs under the table past both trolls, drawing her masterfully crafted longsword as she does so.

This movement provokes attacks of opportunity from both trolls. Her AC against these attacks is 43

Any allies who are attacked while adjacent to Juniper gain a +4 luck bonus to AC until the beginning of her next turn.

Assuming the trolls take AoOs:

Grigorii begins singing a new song and moves up to the blue troll, coming to stand next to the phantom warrior.

If you accept the rage, you get +2 morale Str/Con, +2 morale Will, and -1 AC. In addition, spirits attack adjacent enemies and offer 20 percent concealment from reach or ranged attacks.
Also, I cast moment of greatness before we came in. You may double a morale bonus for a single roll if we didn't take more than 6 minutes talking. GM?

I think that between the Troll Finger contest, the eating the salty fish and ale, and the conversation with Shakras afterwards, it's likely more than six minutes passed.

Has it been 7 minutes? Because Yojimbo's Shield spell would have worn off then >_<

Luckily, it doesn't appear that the -4 to his AC would have made a difference, if it's the case that it's gone

Grigorii and his spirits hit the Blue troll hard but do not crit. The Blue troll is still standing.

The attacks of opportunity gone, Shel double moves to flank with Yojimbo, and gets in one attack with sneak attack damage. The blue troll continues to still stand.

Yes, I think the Shield spell is gone too. I'm sorry guys.

Both sets of troll jaws snap on air, leaving both trolls confused.

Azara spins around to face the Red Troll, grins, and blows it a kiss.

She will Spring Attack the boss so as to avoid his AoO, and will spend a Panache point to double her Precise Strike damage against him. This movement will still provoke an AoO from both the Red and Blue Trolls, but she won't be parrying/riposting them.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO from Red and Blue: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Attack on boss: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 13 + 1 = 31 (no flanking bonus because Juniper is in Total Defense)

Azara does a dazzling display of blowing kisses at one troll and then slicing another.

She does 35 damage against Shakras, who seems quite a bit more scuffed now.

Kiku moves up next to Yojimbo, pressing her hand against his ectoplasmic form. She draws a shield in the air with her staff, keeping her attention on the nearby troll as well.

"Arqueros, lend this spirit your bulwark. Protect!"

Yojimbo shifts around the flank of the troll. He pauses for a moment as he evens out his stance. His sword leaving arcs of fiery ectoplasm in the air as he strikes and sheathes his sword three times in the space of six seconds.
