GM Queen of the Razor Coast |
Jeez, this thread exploded since this morning! XD
Recruitment is over 1 week from the OP.
S'kar, not normally, but I can add that to the campaign! Interested?
Milah, that's fine, but be aware of how large an Elephant is and take that into account with your living expenses.
El Ronza, you cannot employ them all at one time obviously, but yes, you know all of them for your level.
Seranov, I can find you an equivalent. I also have the 3.X stats for living plant armor, which I THINK was called moonivy armor or something.
Mori, I can stat up newborn Roc for you, so you can end up scaling it as you level and it 'grows' to match your level.
Marko, MOST of the islands count as a jungle.
Rigel, I'm not spoiling everyone just yet... the campaign starts out at levels 4-5 anyway. :P
Gyrfalcon, Besmara is not a normal part of the cosmology, but she can certainly be included!
Tenro, not many super-sneaks. There are a few who have it as one side of the gestalt, but no full sneaks.
EVERYONE WITH ANIMAL COMPANIONS AND FAMILIARS, YOU MAY ADD ONE ARCHETYPE TO THEM FOR FREE AND THEY RECEIVE +1 HP PER HD! DUPLICATE ABILITIES DO NOT STACK.
HOW DOES EVERYONE FEEL ABOUT MYTHIC? NOT FULL-ON, BUT MAYBE 3 OVER THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE CAMPAIGN? THERE'S SOME PRETTY EPIC MOMENTS!
El Ronza |
I'm with Seranov on the mythic. May as well go all-in. I've been flat out, but I'm currently working on my tinker; should have him up in a few hours. I'm thinking he's ex-navy, originally part of a crew sent to try and control the piracy of the coast, but failed horribly and now has a reputation as an eccentric fool, building machines out of scrap metal and driftwood.
Marko |
Mechanically mythic can be a lot of fun to play with, but it'd be about the story aspect for me. Even a couple levels of mythic would deserve something epic, like saving a god or stopping an evil god, or even being chosen to face an evil god for past deeds by gods and blah blah etc other ideas etc. If we weave it into the story right, I'd be all for it. If not, we're already gestalt so that already gave us a lot of fun options, and I'd prefer it to not just be a mechanical thing.

GM Queen of the Razor Coast wrote:As in your pet gains the abilities of one of the animal companion or familiar archetypes for free, on top of whichever one they may choose to select....There are archetypes for animal companions and familiars? What book is that from?
Animal Archive. They're on the d20PFSRD. I'm personally fond of the Charger archetype for mounts.
Skarr Moonskimmer |
Mythic sounds totally bodacious and awesome! I'm all in!
@GM Queen - If you could keep the slave/slavers thing in mind, that would be satisfying. Feels good to do good. But, I think I'm gonna need the feat "mechanically" elsewhere. Hope you don't think less of me. Matters what you think... even after recruitment.
Are HP max all the way, or max 1st, then something else?
Mori Fallenoak |
Oh, forgot to say:
There's a Roc in the animal companions list, I had planned on using that, but I'm certainly amenable to letting you stat something up. I'm still at a loss as to why a hawk (tiny) has Con 11, and a Roc (medium) has Con 9. :p
Edit: Free Archetype! Grabbing Totem Guide for my Dire Osprey then! Will have to see what Familiar archetypes there are.
GM Queen of the Razor Coast |
Heeeeeeeeeey Princey!
S'kar, I think no less of you... crunchy bits are important to many people, so I don't begrudge you for it. :)
CHARACTERS AND PETS WILL HAVE MAX HP PER HD, AS WILL ALL MAJOR NPCS AND 'NAMED' MONSTERS!
Mori, I have no idea... all that balance crap tends to leave you scratching your head about why they made something a certain way.
Celic, KITTY!!! :3
fnord72 |
dag, you could look at the building rules for downtime, they include the costs for something like what you are talking about.
I'm good with mythic at any point.
As for the familiar's...
Basic familiars only have one or two HD, they never get more. They get virtual HD for the purposes of determining some abilities. Otherwise they just get half the caster's HP.
My character (the gunslinger/wizard), his background (previously posted) has him as having a significant background in a navy. He resigned his commission and is looking for work.
With a few years behind him in anti-piracy, he may easily fit in with a few others as a prior acquaintance.
GM Queen of the Razor Coast |
Oh drat! Forgot to mention that Freeport is a city just near the Razor Coast area, so if you want to tie your backstory there, feel free! I'm also homebrewing Scuttlecove as being part of the Razor Coast, so if any of you are familiar with that den of iniquity, it's an option too. Do note that most of the action occurs around Port Shaw, however!
Rigel Quicklingfay |
Another vote for mythic, but agree with Marko about the story being the important thing.
At the very least, she'd certainly have talked to Rigel in the Salty Siren if only to ask exactly what she was. :p
That's not the most original chat-up line, but with looks like hers Rigel has learned that people can get tongue-tied around her ;)
EDIT: I've put a bit in her background about not working against the Tulita; either tracking down escapees, or combating their freedom-fighting organisation, The Broken. In-character, it's because Rigel has a certain amount of fellow-feeling for them (after all, gnomes haven't always been treated kindly or well); out-of-character, I don't want to conflict with any of the PC's who're playing native characters.
Rigel Quicklingfay |
@Dagoresh: gah, I'm such a ditz - I thought I'd already replied, but clearly not!
Yeah, I can see Rigel taking on a help; especially one whose height and muscle are going to complement her own skills set. Even more so if she has to leave Port Shaw (she doesn't like being too far from the nearest mirror civilisation, which is kind of odd when you get to know that her early life was in sylvan surroundings among the fey).
They probably made an odd, but highly effective, couple; even once Dagoresh left to do his own thing, I'd imagine Rigel stayed in touch - if she got word that he was getting an adventuring group together, she'd come running (or at least, strolling cooly - but rapidly).
Dagoresh Telarawr |
He'd probably be up for working as a guide for her in the future as well if she came a knocking! Dag's pretty cool like that. And yeah, he acts as the meat shield to your gunslinging and spellslinging pretty well...
That said, he wouldn't be willing to help the less justified kind of hunting. He's got a personal interest in protecting innocents and so on. She might be able to convince him if its a pirate or a slaver she's hired to take down without a bounty, but she'd learn very quickly not to mention the innocent merchant she might be asked to shoot.
Rigel Quicklingfay |
The glib answer to that is aw, honey, there ARE no innocent merchants in Port Shaw, but in fact I'm thinking of toning down that bit of her character... She's more of a morally ambiguous 'Han shot first' type than a stone-cold killer (I apologise to any readers too young for that cultural reference).
Actually, the more I look at it, the more I like the idea (or at least the feel/story bit) of the Shaw Sheriff prestige class... Someone to stand up (however reluctantly) and say "Hey! Enough of this s**t"
Aware we're at risk of (a) clogging up the thread and (b) looking presumptuous - PM me?

yeah, i looked at that prestige class, it IS pretty cool. just a little too much of a good guy for my character (and takes away from his specialties).
i cant wait for selections!!
Jazzai Moonbreaker |
Me either. I have all my character's work on the laptop that now has decided to die. Must get it repaired. No worries though. I can work on it again. ^.^
But good luck to everyone! Goes back to the drawing board with a giggle.
Skarr Moonskimmer |
Change name a bit, easier on the typing and possessive.
Thinking Skarr partnered up with a female who is the brains of the duo (also socially ostracized/marginalized but skilled). He helped her run some trouble off. And he joined her Surplus and Salvage business, he was a natural at maritime salvage. It's what he does when he's not hired on with a ship's crew.
Times have been lean for salvage, so the establishment has sectioned some space and doubles as a dosshouse/flophouse. Rent is low and can be worked off. And, of course any tenents fall under the protection of Skarr Moonskimmer, no small boon for any being victimized.
Though understated verbally, Skarr is in demand as a free agent/mercenary crewman. His loyalty unquestioned, leaving no man or woman behind where others might cut & run. The criminal element leaves him alone, knowing his ethical leanings.
Divinitus |
Probably changing my race to Aasimar, but using checking with RVT to see if I can gain the Mask trait like a Reaper.
It's official... I'm in love with the Warlock, the Oracle alternate 3PP class. An eldritch blast in exchange for spellcasting capabilities and I get a revelation at EACH level and can pick from those normally archetype exclusive? Not to mention the other fun stuff I can do and my nice +4 to CHA skill checks bonus.
I'm planning on my character being a servant of Mnemosyne, Goddess of Memory and Time, journeying forth to recover one of the last pieces of her stolen memories.
I'm trying to make his fused eidolon form as odd as you would expect from the servant of a goddess that is described as a shard of the universe made manifest... planning on making it look angelic, but with the weirdness inherent in old depictions of angels: several large batlike wings covered in white feathers tipped in gold and studded with large red or golden eyes, a blank face like a fleshy alabaster mask except for his two eyes of glowing silver or gold, and other odd features like those. I'm probably going to make him have a different personality in his fused form too. I'm planning on painting a portrait of him in this form and posting it in his profile if I can make it look good, because it's hard to describe the mental image I have for it.
Trying to decide between a staff or a scythe as my melee weapon. My initial thoughts are to go with a scythe. Thoughts?
Skarr Moonskimmer |
@The Silver Prince - What flavor is your character culture-wise? Classical Greek? If so, perhaps a spear (close to staff) with a sword as second.
The scythe seems out of place with a lot of reaper motif. I know it fits the character, mask and all. But, I'm a 7 foot tall lizardman, so who am I to talk?
So, my vote given the options presented is... Staff.
Later, magically enhanced... a blade could spring out and transform it into a Scythe. As a free/swift action. Possibly a physical reminder (evidence) of an evolution of character.
Witness-of-Unity's-Truth |
Fish, she's from Journeys to the West and the Midgard setting. RVT is incorporating the former book into the campaign and, since she's part of the campaign, I thought hey that would be a cool choice for a deity!
Skarr, there is no real-world analogue for his personality and style. Good point... scythe=reaper, staff=symbol of knowledge and sovereignty. Staff it is!
The Theurge class is going to be great playing in combination with Warlock and my 1 level dip in Synthesist Summoner (For flavor purposes, not for stats... a dip is only semi-useful,)! I believe my character will be a masterpiece indeed!
EDIT: Crap, posted as Witness again!
Skarr Moonskimmer |
I'm up with having served with Skarr in the past.
Holy Moly, imagine being on the receiving end of that duo. I just looked up Kasatha.
Hmmm... Cover me! Skarr sprints towards the ship's rail, hurtling himself across the gap to the attacking vessel. His powerful legs churn the air as a hail of bullets from behind clears the way.
Landing with a thud, 400 pounds of reptile and steel tumble through the enemy line. The stuff of nightmares.
fnord72 |
Just wait until I get rapid reload...
Kawai shouts a battle cry as his hands blur with precision firing and reloading two sets of pistols. A near constant roar of thunder reverberates behind the onslaught of flames sending a rain of lead across the gap between the two boats. Soon a cloud of smoke all but obscures the four armed privateer.
Having cleared a foothold, Skarr feels a thud as Kawai swings across, to land at his back, a pair of pistols and swords held in his hands.
