Round (9) Conclusion

Otieno: The druid lines up a shot on the red circle primate and fires an arrow. The primate sees the intended arrow and manages to duck just in time. (Miss)
Luna-Wolf: Once again the wolf lunges up the side of the palisade and attempts to grab hold of the red circle monkey-man. The canine's bite comes up short as the primate pulls its legs up just in time. (Miss)
Hangust: Fighting off the fatigue, the Halfling continues to bring both blades to bear. The first swing misses its mark, but the second swing manages to catch the beast in its shoulder. (MH Miss, OH Hit -2 Lethal)
Fiona:The rat mount takes a bit at the gray circle monkey man, then moves slightly back. (Miss)
Sula: After her mount moves far enough away from the gray circle primate, Sula thrusts her lance into the beasts abdomen. The tip of the lance digs deep into the creature’s midsection and causes it to howl in pain. Shaken by the attack, the creature now looks staggered. (Hit -7 Lethal)
Jan Doe: The psychic continues to blast into the virtually undefended minds of the primates. (Willpower save failed -14 Lethal and bleed 1)

Brunhilde: Finally the ranger's barricade manages to connect with the quick primate, which literally knocks the crap out of the beast. (Primary Attack Hit -11 Lethal, bull rush successful, secondary attack Miss)

Round (11) Conclusion

Otieno: Taking careful aim at the orange circle primate, which is entangled in a fight to the death with Barnaby, Otieno fires an arrow that strikes the beast in the chest. The beast rears back in pain then collapses to the ground (Hit -10 Lethal)
Luna-Wolf: Relentlessly the wolf lunges up the side of the palisade in an attempt to grab the red circle ape. With a gnashing jaw, the wolf misses the quick target. (Miss)
Hangust: Continuing his fatigued assault, the barbarian lashes out with two Kukris. The first blade falls short of its target, but the second blade finds its mark and further deepens the cut on the beasts shoulder. (MH Miss, OH Hit -3 Lethal)
Fiona: Responding to the beckon of her master, Fiona bolts into a charge towards Hangust.
Sula: Leaning into her mounts charge, Sula lowers her lance and attempts to impale the blue circle monkey-man that threatens Hangust. The Quick primate dodges off to the side just in time to avoid the impact, then regains its footing. (Miss)
Jan Doe: Once again focusing on the red circle primate, the psychic unleashes an unseen energy they causes the beast to swoon. (Willpower save passed -5 Lethal and bleed 1)

Brunhilde: Finally able to fully orchestrate her combat prows, Brunhilde brings her shield down into a brutal slam. The shield knocks the wind out of the primate, which the warrior princes takes advantage of. Quickly she lunges forward and drives a knee spike deep into the ape’s neck. The best spews out a massive amount of blood as it crumples to the ground in a heap. (Primary Attack Hit -13 Lethal, bull rush successful, secondary attack Hit -9 Lethal)
Barnaby: With his opponent dispatched by Ontieno’s arrow, the investigator pulls back to a more tactical position.

Charau-Ka: A loud cheer goes up as the the camp’s defenders manage to push the Charau-Ka from the walls. Dead primate bodies lay about in large heaps and the remaining primates retreat back over the walls and into the jungle.

End of Combat

CONCLUSION

With the charau-ka and their champion defeated, the remnants of the ape-men flee back into the jungle, giving the excavation site its first relative peace in 10 months. With most of the camp either wounded or sick, Dias fears she may have to bury the site and take the key with her back to Absalom. Regardless, she thanks you profusely for your timely help. She promises to report to her venture captain that the success at Azlant Ridge was due in no small part to your efforts.

The Aspis agents that survived the battle are given (1) hour to recover before escorted out of the camp.

Over the next several days, Dias guides the camp through packing and loading the caravan wagons to head for the coast and catch a vessel bound for Absalom. She packs away the key and the monolith control device. She then has the camp workers bury all signs of their dig, including triggering a rock fall to rebury the door to the Azlanti complex.

As the charau-ka swarm seems to flee, Barnaby catches his breath. That was an experience I'd rather not replicate. He glances back at the looming open doors of the mountain vault. Well, most of it.

Once he realizes Dias means to bury the site however, he confronts her, frustrated. "All of that, all we fought for, and we're abandoning everything? There's power here! We still don't understand exactly how these relics work. What's that thing, for example?" he cries, pointing at the large white sphere.

"Can't you dispel the anchor around here? We could summon reinforcements, maybe hold onto the Ridge for a little longer."
