Narciso the Sorcerer |

If there be stuff about maken undead, burn it.
Narciso doesn't follow Briggi's suggestion, rather planning on coming back with a wagon (and some helpers)...
Briggi takes the lead when they get to the door and opens it.
He does follow Briggi to the boarded up door off the alchemy lab, and takes a position where he can offer magical fire support.
I have moved all our icons on the map to D7. Feel free to adjust your positioning folks...

Tisha Nerifaren |

Tisha listens and continues to scan for any magic, including in the direction of the door Briggi is trying to unblock.
Perception for sound or magic: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Foxy Quickpaw |

As Briggi opens the door he is greeted by a sewed together collection of rotten body parts. It is wielding a tatooed arm that it uses to slap Briggi.
@Briggi
Slam: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Tisha: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Briggi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Narciso: 1d20 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 4 = 21

Cosntruct

Narciso the Sorcerer |

@Foxy, what knowledge? Also, please give us a box on the map...
Edit: as you have it labelled in the init as "cosntruct", I am guessing arcana...
Narciso considers the critter as he backs off behind one of the lab benches...
Move action - move 20'

??? Corpse Golem??? never heard of one of them before. You sure that's not either Carrion or Flesh Golem?
"Oh crap, another golem. Immune to a lot of magic, and probably pretty tough"
Standard action - draw wand of acid splash

Fortitude: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Working in any medical environment for some years will do wonders to desensitize you to any kind of body odour - no matter how foul.
Unfazed by the stench, Ernhild brings her hammer down on the disgusting construct.
Attack (Flank): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 2 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Tisha Nerifaren |

Fort: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Oh Gods, what is that reek of rotting meat?
She almost retches from the smell.

Narciso the Sorcerer |

After sifting through the mud in the Otyugh's chamber, the smell is not enough to disturb Narciso's equinamity...
Stepping back, he fires a acid splash in the fray from his wand...
5' step
use wand
To Hit: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 2 - 4 = 10 vs Touch

damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Acid splash is SR:No, so it does work on the magic-immune golem (if it hits, of course).

Narciso the Sorcerer |

Tactical notes. I can't drop grease without hitting one of Briggi or Ernhild, and that's about the only useful magic I can do besides acid splash... @Ernhild, channeling won't heal this thing, so if you've got one, keeping Briggi on his feet might be a good use.
Another step and another acid splash...
5' step
use wand
To Hit: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 2 - 4 = 16 vs Touch
+2 bab +2 dex -4 into melee

Even if it would normally be healed, I have Selective Channeling now and can choose to exclude it :)
Ernhild channels some divine energy to help out Briggi.
HP: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5
"Tisha, if you want to join in, I think now would be a good time. If you can aim higher than my head, I'll duck out of the way, and you can stab it." Could she use her 2nd action to coordinate with Tisha so you can use her spear against the construct?

Tisha Nerifaren |

Tisha starts stabbing blindly.

Narciso adds a corroding agent to the construct, Briggi smashes his hammer into it but Tisha misses stabbing blindly at it.
The corpse patchwork keeps attacking Briggi.

Ernhild strikes at the construct, once again coordination with Tisha to give her a chance to stab.
Attack (+2 Flanking): 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10

Ernhild uses a spell to heal some of Briggi's wounds. Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
"Let's cut that arm off and be done with it." Anything left to explore ?
No post tomorrow as I'll be travelling back home!

Narciso the Sorcerer |

"Yeah, I think that's all the body parts... I don't think there's anyplace else down here to explore. I agree with Briggi; let's get out of here. But keep a sharp eye out for a further ambush; I think at least one derro got away..."
As we walk back to the entrance he asks "Ok, so the shaman said 'If a body does not go whole to the fires of the ancestors, the smoke of a warrior’s spirit cannot rise to the Great Sky'. Whole being the operative word there, should we sew him back together?"

Tisha Nerifaren |

So we have all the parts?
The Elves had magic that mended items, can the same be done to bodies? Or can we use some of Ernhild magic that closes our wounds?
Tisha asks to try to need feel useless due to this irritating darkness.

Narciso the Sorcerer |

I don't have the mending cantrip until 6th level. Ernhild could prepare it (tomorrow, presumably), or we could get a scroll or a wand. It only works on objects, specifically not on creatures "This spell does not affect creatures (including constructs).", but a body is an object, not a creature (being no longer alive). So, DM's call if Mending works on dead bodies...

![]() |

"I don't know about any magic that could do that besides some thread and a needle. But it'd take a long time. And a lot of thread."
Still, if the party has the time and the space to stitch the corpse back together, Ernhild gets to work with patience, a bright source of light and good glasses. Once you knew how to patch up wounds, you knew your way around sewing, really. Taking 20 on a Heal check?

Tisha Nerifaren |

If it is going to be that hard to fix, maybe we can do this back at the citadel? I need to figure out a way to become more effective in this darkness, and I would rather do that someplace safe.
Plus we have a group of hostages waiting for us at the entrance, if they didn’t run.
We could bring them back to possibly close missing persons reports and maybe give some more evidence on this Roth Lamm.

Narciso the Sorcerer |

"Tisha has a point - let's get moving"
Cut scene? We can make decisions about what to do with the body once we, and the former prisoners are someplace relatively safe. Maybe we should ask the Marshall if we should sew the body back together.
She might have an expert to consult on Shoanti customs (also might have a surgeon or two to do the work)....

![]() |

"Fine. I'll get to work in the Citadel."
It might actually be more convenient that way. Gods, this would require a big slab.
