From out of nowhere a bottle spontaneously flies off one of the shelves. The shop keeper carefully watches in anticipation of another alchemical tragedy. The customer with the wide brim hat pulls out a sap and takes a heavy overhead swing at Brunhilde. ”That’s it Doren, Keep those two entertained over there.” the man says as he finishes the swing.

Ontieno’s wolf bolts in and grabs hold of the purple customer, then viciously shakes its head, tearing a large wound in the man’s midsection. The canine's attack is quickly followed by a well-placed arrow that pierces the man's left shoulder.
Sula draws her Warhammer and moves up to the yellow customer. Wielding the hammer in an awkward fashion, the cavalier strikes the yellow customer with the haft of the weapon, causing him to stumble slightly.
Having seen his comrade brutally attacked. The yellow patron drops his sap and draws a scimitar. You can see that fight or flight has taken over the man's judgment, as he begins swinging his curved blade wildly at Sula. In an act of desperation, the man adjust himself placing his back to the desk.

After rubbing the soreness out of her chin, the Ulfen princess brings her powerful shield arm into a massive swing, which drives the barricade’s spikes deep into the purple customers face. Caught off guard by the Ulfen woman’s brawn, the consumer opens himself up. Brunhilde quickly takes advantage of the man’s lack of balance and drives forward impaling him with another large spike from her armor and launching him across the room. The man crashes into a set of shelves along the back wall, then slumps to the ground into a pill of bloody-flesh goo.

Round 2 Conclusion
With all the prevalent blood being spilled, Hangust decides to put the business end of his Kukri to work. Without hesitation the Halfling brings a two handed flurry of curved blades to bear, which sends the yellow customer spiraling to the floor.
Luna, as if waiting for permission, looks back hesitantly to her owner. Otieno quickly knocks another arrow and lets it fly. The thin shafted projectile imbeds itself into the nearby desk, missing its intended target all together. As soon as the wolf hears the thrum of Ontieno’s bow, she leaps into action, sinking her sharp teeth into the man’s right leg.
Irritated by the man’s lack of good judgment, Brunhilde once again brings the deadly spikes of her shield forward, impaling the Green customer and sending him flying across the room. With no other visible targets at hand, the group begins to exhale and become composed.
Well done, we are now out of combat rounds.
Senzer wipes his brow and wrings his hands in his leather apron. “Thank you, Pathfinders! I’ve been expecting you ever since I stopped contact. Tragic illness grips my poor son, Roald, and a woman named Lura Ichon claimed to have a cure. I signed away my entire operation to the heartless wench to cure my son, but the elixirs she sends every day are diluted with cheap rum to the point of being almost useless. In exchange she’s worked me sunup to sundown manufacturing drugs for her little den of vice, the Sanguine Pit.”
“I know she found a real cure for my boy—tiny amounts of it in those elixirs she sends keep him from getting worse— but I can’t march into that bar of hers and demand it. And as soon as she learns what you did to her men, she’ll kill me and Roald, as sure as you’re standing here. I want to help you, really I do, but I gave the Society everything I had for three years. Now, I need you to return the favor. If you want any help supporting your excavation, I need that cure for my son, and some guarantee that Lura Ichon won’t dump us in the bay the moment you leave.”
Otieno
|
After looking the man up and down, then glancing at Luna, who pants happily, Otieno states, "We'll take care of it."
Barnaby Rockford
|
"Yes," Barnaby says, slipping his sap back into his belt. "We can get the right dose for your kid. But ten-to-one there'll be more 'friends' than this over at her headquarters. Anything you can tell us about the Pit, is it some kind of bar?"
As he waits for Senzer to respond, Brnaby rummages about in his bag and pulls out a slender yellow wand. He holds it out towards Brunhilde. "Here. Tap yourself before you get a shiner. Consider it a pre-payment for if I ever get on your bad side."
Sula Xanthurus
|
Sula looks dismayed at the blood and pieces of human stuck in her fur. "Ugh." she mutters to herself. "I really need a bath now..."
Hearing barnaby ask the important questions, she turns her attention to the man at her feet. First checking if he's dead or bleeding out, stabalising him if she can.
If the man is a lost cause she'll search him for intereating items.
Brunhilde Olafsdottir

Well in the current shape I'm not messing with some drug dealers to save your son.
Brunhilde suggests with her typical northern charm as she inspects the cut in her arm.
I guess searching the corpses of the deceased might be a good plan. Perception1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Hangust
|
"Might want to save that bath until we're done clearing out this pit." Hangust suggests as he assists Brunhilde in her inspection. It helps him push down the boiling rage he feels after the shop keeps story about his ill son.
Is there anything people won't take advantage of?
| GM Nightfiend |
During your inspection you find (3) sets of studded leather armor. Two of which are in rugged shape after the Brunhilde's dramatic overkill. (3) Saps, (3) scimitars, (30) crossbow bolts, (3) light crossbows, and (3) Scrimshaw bracelets.
After the fight, Senzer begins picking up what items didn’t get smashed. You can see that he is noticeably shaken by ordeal.
”Unfortunately, I have only been to the establishment once. From what I can remember, it is a large bar and fighting pit. Lura likes to hold unusual fights between exotic creatures there, which turns a heavy profit. Where she gets all those exotic animals, I have no idea. She also sells a lot of drugs out of the place, which is where I come in. She has me making a large mixture of chemicals, that I believe is being using in the manufacturing of narcotics.”
“I know enough to give you clear instructions how to get there, if you are willing to retrieve the cure for my son."
The Sanguin Pit has been marked on your local map. Let me know what the group would like to do from here.
Barnaby Rockford
|
Brunhilde's glad to use my wand if she wants. I'd just use it myself, but investigators can't use them without a UMD roll, which I could do but would be riskier.
"Of course. At the least it's one less predator out on the streets, for now at least."
As Barnaby heads for the door, he turns back and adds almost haphazardly, "Oh, and if you spot any potions unsmashed while we're out keep them handy. We're heading towards people who should need them soon enough; if your and Our arraignment still holds you'll be taken care of through the usual channels."
Sula Xanthurus
|
Finding the thugs to be very much dead, Sula wipes her hands clean as much as she can.
With a tug on his coat, she stops Barnaby from stepping out the door.
"Before we rush off to help this man, lets first make a plan! We got lucky rushing in here, but I rather not enter a place like the Sanguine Pit without some preparation."
Brunhilde Olafsdottir

Brunhilde can't use Wands..maybe Otienno could help us out?
I plan to beat any fool who crosses my way into a bloddy pulp. Just like those two... Brunhilde boasts.
Not sure what I'll do about a hoard of wild animals...
Jane Doe?

"Do you know if she's affiliated with the Aspis? Perhaps the Cartahegn family can offer you and your son some protection once this whole incident comes to an end."

Sula Xanthurus

Sula adresses Brunhilde, taking up a submissive pose.
"Yes, and you would be magnificent in smashing them all. But I fear that if we go in in force, they would smash the cure. Its something these lowlifes would not feel bad about."
Adressing the party as a whole. "At the least we need a good excuse to talk to this Lura Ichon woman. Perheps we could feign interest in buying a large amount of her drugs?"
Brunhilde Olafsdottir
|
Brunhilde looks to her hairy companion and nodssternly.
You might be right about that...maybe these braceletts could be of use...or we sell your furry friend for exotic animal fights...come to think of it you are quite an exotic beast yourself...
Sula Xanthurus
|
Sula moves her ears back in displeasure. "If you think I would sell Fiona you got hit harder in the head then I thought. However..."
Sula's voice trails off, her ears move forwars, clearly thinking about something.
"You know, I might not be the exotic beast they are looking for. But the power you just diplayed might just be what the crowd wants. A true champion of strength. And gory, splattery death to boot. The crowd will adore you Brunhilde!"
Brunhilde Olafsdottir
|
Brunhilde blinks for a second and blushes a smile playing over her lips but it turns stern again instantly.
Pfah... I'm a princess... and no petty pit fighter...you on the other hand you are a rat man...loathed by many and feared by some! Em...
Brunhilde ponders the implications of her words, and figures she just might have insulted her companion for no real reason...

Otieno uses the wand provided to heal whoever needs it.
"We should at least scout the location. Are we ready to move?"

I will need rolls for the cure light wounds wand. Either Otieno or Brunhilde may roll them, your choice. When everyone is ready to continue, I will need everyone to make another Knowledge (Local) or Stealth check to continue blending in. I will also need to know where you would like to head.

"Besides, I barely manage four feet and if it wasnt for my armor, I'd barely weigh 70 pounds. Not exactly the fierce beast most are looking for. But perhapst we can both sign up and see who they favor? I think its at least a good way to gain entry, without drawing too much attention to ourselves."

GM I marked off a box from Brunhilde's Psychic Awakening Chronicle.
Very well...we should look to learn what we can about the place first. Brunhilde then turns to the Alchemist and holds up one of the armbands.
What can you tell us about these? Do all her thugs carry them?
Barnaby Rockford
|
Could be a sign of affiliation, marking them as members of the Pit and its gang. Barnaby cocks his head in thought.
The rat's right: having a couple of us pose as entrants to the pits may at least get us through the door without a fight. In fact, our furry friend may be just the player for the part. If it's not beneath a shot of pride Sula, act a bit more feral and you'd convince more than most; I doubt too many hear have seen a true rat folk before, and rumors of the unknown can sometimes be as good as steel.
For when we move Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 8 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 8 + (2) = 13
Also a thought, if Sula or someone poses as an entrant or thug, could they use an Intimidate check to blend in?
Hangust

"Maybe we should wear the bracelets? It's possible they represent working for Lura?" Hangust shrugs as he turns one of the bracelets over in his hands then gives it to whoever wants it.

"Sounds like a plan. Brunhilde and I will go to the pit, say we would like to participate in a fight. Barnaby, Otieno and Jane could either pose as a thug, or maybe just as patrons. I myself think posing as a thug would be more risky. While its unlikely they know everyone in the gang, someone like Jane or Otieno with Luna would stand out. Maybe Barnaby and Jane can pose as looking to buy something from Lura? Heard she is good with her medicine, hoping to find a cure for Jane? Just an idea.
Hangust and Otieno could just try and enter as regular customers. Or Otieno could also try and enter, seeking to enter Luna in the pit."

Just to make sure I have everything correct. I want to reiterate your intentions. Let me know if I have anything incorrect.
1. Brunhilde and Sula will enter the Sanguine pit as potential combatants. (A single Bluff check will be necessary. Add a +2 circumstance bonus for being a ratfolk.).
2. Barnaby, Otieno, and Jane are entering separately and posing as customers (No check required), or posing as thugs (A single Bluff check is required, a successful disguise check (DC 15) will add a +2 circumstance bonus to the Bluff). If you intend to play the part of someone looking for a cure (A single bluff check will be needed, add a +2 circumstance bonus to the roll for the elongated cranium.).
3. I will need to know how Hangust intends to enter the establishment.
For those traveling into the establishment together. You can aid another on the required bluff roll if you like.
Otieno

"Yes, that might just work." Otieno does his best to play along, despite not really having any "city" skills.
Hangust
|
"Gee, I get to pass as a customer?" Hangust pouts even as he puffs up his chest. "I've got some experience as a trapper, take me with you and I'll pose as the hunter that trapped your rat to enter in the fight!"
Hangust follows Sula and Brunhilde whether they agree or not, adding his rugged barbarian charm to their deception.

Sula winks at Hangust.

The sun slowly makes its retreat, yielding relentlessly to the more submissive moon. The day’s residual light becomes a soft orange glow, which reflects of the tide of the sea. The group makes its way along the shore line that leads to the Sanguine Pit.
Freshly lit lanterns hang from the outside of a poorly maintained building. The entrance, which opens to the main street, appears to have no rest from the constant traffic of the establishment’s clientele. Loud cheers can be heard as you approach the building.
After closing in on the place, you observe a back entrance to the building. It sits off to one side and is tucked away behind part of the outer wall. A boardwalk pear running along the side of the building leads to the rundown face of the back entrance. Brunhilde, Sula, and Hangust, are the first to approach. Without delay Brunhilde opens the door and all three step into the establishment.
(Note) The Sanguin Pit is packed with people. Fare more than I can place images on the map. I have added some images for effect, but it doesn’t come close to the number in the place. Current headcount is somewhere around 80 people.
The clamor of cheers and shouted bets drowns out any intelligible sounds in this large, crowded bar. A massive aquarium, fifteen feet on a side, dominates the room as a dog-sized lobster creature and a dark green, man-sized fish with fanged jaws circle one another, occasionally trading blows. Heady, pungent smoke fills the air, and the floor is slick with spilled drinks and seawater.
Near the central tank stands a well-dressed and well-rounded woman with light colored hair. Towering over her, at seven feet tall, stands her idealized, Amazonian reflection. Both women bear a curious glowing rune on their foreheads. The bookies clearly defer to the smaller woman, and everyone keeps their distance from her glamorous bodyguard.
Once the three potential combatants (Brunhilde, Sula, and Hangust) enter the bar, they are approached by one of the establishment's serving girls. “Welcome to the Sanguin Pit. Can I get you a table?” Once Brunhilde expresses her and her companions interest in being a combatant, the young girl looks over her shoulder at the lady standing next to the aquarium. “I’m afraid you will have to talk to Lura about that. To be honest, I’m not sure how that works. If you like, I could let Lura know that you want to speak with her?”
Meanwhile the rest of the group waits outside the establishment to delay entering until the first three are in place.
Let me know how long you want to wait before Barnaby, Otieno, and Jane, enter the pit. I also need to know if you are going for any specific ruse that will result in a skill check.

The ride to the Sanguine Pit is mostly uneventfull, and Sula spends some time making smalltalk with Hangust.
Once at the pit, Sula keeps in the sadle so Fiona is calmer, and to keep the crowd from getting any weird ideas about petting without asking.
Inside Sula keeps an eye out for anything that might point to where they might keep the drugs and maybe also the cure.
