That is definitely the most interesting tale I have heard...sometimes good will overcome all odds. And thank you again for the hospitality...that weather is a bother...

Michael Johnson 66 |

Following a delicious meal, The Lusty Fools are served finely aged red wine in gold goblets, and entertained by a magic harp with golden strings that plays itself and sings (a graven and gilded siren with aquamarines for eyes moves its mouth and produces a gorgeous soprano), accompanied by Monsieur Lumiere on accordion, Monsieur Cogsworth beating a hide drum, and Madame Potts on recorder....
Around midnight, after hearing the tales of The Lusty Fools' adventures thus far, the gracious "Beauty" and her "Beast" bid their guests good night, and retire to their quarters, leaving the heroes to their own devices in the west wing of the castle....

Michael Johnson 66 |

The guest chambers of the west wing are well appointed, with enough four-post canopied beds for each of the heroes to have their own, night stands on which censors waft sweet-smelling incense, and carafes of red wine and water rest, footlockers in which to stow belongings, wardrobes full of comfortable and fashionable garments, boots, hunting gear, and ball attire, full-length gilded mirrors, porcelain chamber pots, plush chairs, and other furnishings....

Alphonse Veritus |

Alphonse turns in early, and suggests the others do the same.
"We have a long journey ahead of us on the morrow, and werewolves to deal with to boot. We should conserve our strength."

Michael Johnson 66 |

Hisao, as is his habit takes a 20 on his sleeping place to see if there's anything of interest.
Hisao's careful observations of his bedchamber reveal residual effects of the powerful curse that once laid upon this place: for instance, his chamber pot has four sculpted porcelain legs like cat's paws, and animates to catch his urine when he relieves himself into it. And by speaking aloud a sentence or paragraph while sitting at the desk with a sheet of blank parchment, inkwell and quill before him, he can dictate a letter, haiku, or gibberish, which the quill and inkwell animate and scribe with clarity and perfect legibility....

Michael Johnson 66 |

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson spends the whole time in the library, reading and transcribing.
Tyr soon discovers, to his great pleasure, that animated quills and inkwells in the library scriptorium can be verbally commanded to make copies or translations into several continental languages of any text in the vast library. Further, a ladder with rollers used for reaching high shelves animates and fetches the foremost texts on any given subject for the scholar....

Baron Dubois, "The Beast" |

After a restful night at Castle Dubois, the Lusty Fools dress in their freshly laundered clothing and armor, polished to a bright sheen by the castle servants, and enjoy a hot, delicious breakfast served by Madame Potts in the feast hall. After breakfast, Baron and Baroness Dubois gift the heroes with a jar of silversheen each, a bundle of provisions and full wine skin each, and a fond farewell.
Beware of the wolves, friends, and fare thee well! says Baron Dubois as the heroes walk out of the gatehouse and across the drawbridge....

Michael Johnson 66 |

And so, after an enjoyable night of good cheer at The Castle of Beauty and The Beast, The Lusty Fools continue on their way to Reims, watching the forest on either side of the road for any sign of werewolves....
The morning of June 21st passes pleasantly....
Adding 5,000 XP story award to the party total for befriending fairy tale/Disney legends lol....

Werewolf inn patron |

The pack numbers 15 werewolves! They surround The Lusty Fools, moving in with well-practiced pack-hunting skill so that each Lusty Fool suddenly finds himself flanked and encircled by three werewolves before the heroes have much chance to close ranks! The great timber wolves then shift into wolf-humanoid hybrids, snarling and slavering as they hungrily eye their prey....

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

Let me know, DM, if I cannot do this in the "Surprise" round before Initiative.
Ahh, werewolves! I surrender; I surrender! Please don't kill me; tell me what you want; I'll do anything!
Bluffing that I'm scared and actually surrendering, not just getting them to give me some info before I burn the mangy, diseased hair from their cursed, pathetic souls with my alchemical concoction of death: 1d20 + 12 + 1d6 ⇒ (17) + 12 + (3) = 32
Eeek, eeek, I'm a terribly frightened little viking. Please spare me; let me be your servant.

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

If Iommi's attempt to bluff the wolves has no effect or doesn't happen before the wolve's attack Hisao hits out at the closest wolf.
I believe they're flat footed so one might actually hit :(
Invisible attack on closest wolf: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 131d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (5) + 2 + (4) + (1, 1, 2, 1) = 16
Ki Invisible attack on closest wolf: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 181d6 + 2 + 1d6 + 4d6 ⇒ (6) + 2 + (5) + (2, 3, 4, 2) = 24

The wolf-men and wolf-women (there are 9 male and 6 female werewolves) laugh with rough barking chuckles at Iommi-Tyr's convincing show of fear and surrender, but hesitate only a split second, seeing that Paddy, Alphonse, and Nacht do not seem to be smelling of fear at all....
RAWR RAWR RAWR.... Wait.... These guys aren't scared at all....*GULP!!*

Hisao's first stab somehow falls short of the werewolf by a hair! The second stab fails to penetrate its supernaturally tough hide!

Oops, you are correct, and thanks for your honesty.... And yes, these werewolves are unarmed, so they are using their bite as their primary attack and making secondary claw attacks....
Confirm claw crit 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 does not confirm, but slashes for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 plus curse of Lycanthropy DC 15 Fort....
