Gremlin of Notre Dame |

Paddy reaches the landing about 140 ft up the stairs, where the two gremlins with any fight left in them stand near a board propped up to hold a barrel with nails driven through it from within attached to a swing rope secured to the underside of higher stairs....
The gremlins kick out the board, releasing the swinging barrel toward Paddy's head!
Nail-spiked barrel on a rope trap 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 deals 2d4 ⇒ (2, 1) = 3 piercing to Paddy the Loon!

Charmaine Da'vi |

Round 6
Charmaine holds her sword high as she charges forth up the stairs to join he companions in battle
double move to get near the nearest group of gremlins
I hope this works, these things are just like those rabid dogs i fought on the road to Paris, and i was fine against those, yes! come on Charmaine you can do this, be brave your lord needs you

Charmaine Da'vi |

Round 6
One done, two to go, the bard thinks as he knocks another arrow and fires at the next gremlin.
I move only if I have to stay within the shortbows range to hit a target not in melee.
[dice=Shortbow]1d20+4
[dice=Damage+AS]1d6+1 0_0 whoops. Um. Because Paizo saves rolls I think I'll just try again that way I can't plan for these accidentally. This is what happens when you mess up an end tag.[dice=Shortbow]1d20+4
[dice=Damage+AS]1d6+1
You forgot the +1 to hit from Bless, so it should have been 16 vs AC

Michael Johnson 66 |

With a good four rounds of the party waiting for the acolyte to return with cold iron, while the gremlins beckon and gesture rudely, clearly trying to lure the party into their janky little gremlin traps, I believe we should actually be on round 10 now, technically....
That gives most PCs 3 or 4 rounds where I'm assuming they did little aside from looking for the acolyte to return and keeping an eye on where the gremlins were going....
So defensive spells, healing spells, switching or readying weapons, etc that occur in those 4 rounds ought to be posted now before we get too far ahead....

Tiberius Tacitus |

Tiberius did not know about the weapons considering he came in late. If someone noticed he was hurt and wanted to heal him some, that would be cool. Otherwise, I think he would have been chasing after the gremlins the entire time beyond the point of lending a hand with helping the priest out of the belltower.

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

.
.
Iommi-Tyr Magnusson was going to try to retrieve some Cold Iron bolts -- I believe the Gremlin that Hisao of the Yellow Reeds danced past has two sticking in his evil belly, and I missed two so I'd try to recover those four at least. This gives the real heroes time to get past me up the stairs.

Michael Johnson 66 |

If Hisao pursues, they withdraw to avoid AoOs.... In those extra 4 rounds, they could lead Hisao all the way up to the belfry.... Their little traps are already set so that all they need to do is take a move action to spring them, but Hisao chasing them will prevent that (withdraw is a full action, so no more springing traps)....
As Hisao draws near to the top of the tower, he can make a Perception check vs DC 15....

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

Paddy didn't get whacked then right?
Hisao ascends carefully and will stop when he sees what the stone noise is coming from and goes into total defense again? AC 21

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

.
.
How far away from Hisao of the Yellow Reeds are Tiberius Tacitus, Alphonse, Ubchell ap Ossian, and any others that have moved forward with all haste to the top where await the Gremlins?
Iommi-Tyr Magnusson, after 3 rds of collecting a few of the Cold Iron bolts (how many did I salvage?), loads one into his hand crossbow and moves forward, presumably (hopefully) with our "second team" with me: Charmaine Da'vi, Tevaga the Redeemer, Paddy and Michael the Warsong.
Perception to find Bolts: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 (Not the ones sticking in the Gremlin -- those are easy to collect.)
Please let me know what I have right and what I have wrong: It's my first PBP and I'm not completely sure what's happening or if I should be assuming others' placements. Who's with Me?!

Michael Johnson 66 |

Paddy didn't get whacked then right?
Hrmm.... Good point, Hisao....
Retroactive reality edit: Paddy does not get whacked for 3 points of piercing, as the gremlins wouldn't have time to kick the board out AND withdraw effectively from the slashing wakizashi of Hisao-San....

Each bolt that missed is 50% likely to be broken, and your Perception check would seem to suggest that you overlook any of the spent bolts anyway lol....

Tevaga the redeemer |

Well, Tevaga knows nothing about what's at the top of the tower, so she will go up
Round 7
Tevaga, with her new shortsword, stats making her way up the tower.
About 60 ft per round

Acolyte of Notre Dame |

Is the Acolyte with the weapons coming up the stairs to hand them over? If so, I take one. If not, Alphonse just keeps going until he hits the top of the stairs.
Yes, the acolyte hurries up the stairs, passing out the cold iron weapons....
Alphonse winds up with the +1 cold iron greatsword....
Trevaga took the +1 cold iron short sword....
Paddy gets the masterwork cold iron dagger....
Ubchell gets the masterwork cold iron scimitar....
Tiberius is handed the +1 cold iron earth breaker....
Hisao gets the +1 cold iron heavy mace....
Charmaine is given the +1 cold iron morningstar....

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

Hisao is confused by the young Acolyte's actions but he'll never say no to a free weapon.
Happy Turkey day guys.

Paddy |

Excellent! Now that we are all here, what say we send the little buggers to the pits where they belong! I have some drinking to attend to!
Paddy then shouts in a seldom heard tongue:
And Padfy then proceeds up the stairs, a grim demeanor fixed on his face.

Charmaine Da'vi |

Charmaine thanks the Acolyte and holsters the Morning star, as she must use her long sword as it was given to her divinely.
double move to get in melee range of the gremlins

Michael Johnson 66 |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

As one, the band of hastily assembled adventurers, emboldened by the cold iron in their hands, advance up the last turn of the stairs to the belfry, a shadowy, torchlit, vaulted chamber with large open windows through which the wind whistles and howls, creating a constant thrum as the bells slightly vibrate....

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

.
.
.
The two gremlins... beckon slyly to the pursuing adventurers before disappearing around the final corner onto the belfry.
.
Shouldn't we get a Sense Motive -- you know, DC: zero -- to realize they got some tricksy mischief planned?!

Alphonse Veritas |

Alphonse wonders to himself, It was mentioned these Gargoyles are supposed to be the protectors of this church? Have they truly turned evil?
To make sure, he opens his heart and studies the gargoyle closely.
Use the Move action version of Detect Evil to narrow in on the Gargoyle. If it pings as Eeeeevil it's probably okay to break it. I'll base my other actions on the result.

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

.
.
.
Not sure what is kosher for talking out-of-character in PBP but,... if there's anything in Alphonse's personality that would lead him to ask out loud about the Gargoyles to the other folks charging up the stairs,.... Not that we have much of an answer

Rynjin |

I didn't think of asking, and for the moment I don't see any particular reason for him to. One of two questions is probably going to come out of his mouth later though. If evil, "Why would the church employ evil guardians?" and/or "What could have caused them to turn?" if not, "Why are they attacking people?". He would ask this of the Gargoyle directly, but he doesn't speak French.

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

Heavy mace+1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 151d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
They're flatfooted right? If so then please add the following 1d6 sneak attack to the damage roll
Sneak attack damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Blaaahhhh, heavy mace, not light, no weapon finesse. So the attack roll should be +2, so it's a 12. Messing up left and right.

Paddy |

Paddy charges in, and stabs at one of the gremlins.
Paddy will try to get into a flanking position opposite Hisao in order to get sneak attack...if not he moves beside Hisao
attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 141d6 ⇒ 41d4 ⇒ 2 add +2 if flanking

Tiberius Tacitus |

Round 7 - 9
Upon the request of a rather weapon laden acolyte, Tiberius would come to a stop on the stairs and start stowing his weapons away as he is presented with the mighty weapon. With a quick, "Thank you!" in French, Tiberius would accept the weapon and start back up the stairs.
Round 10
Does Tiberius know that the Gargolyes tend to protect the cathedral?

Tevaga the redeemer |

Tevaga rushes (not charges) up to the closest healthy gremlin, screaming For health activating her "healing" judgment as a swift action. She does try to avoid being caught between 2 creatures to avoid flanking, though (if possible) she will assist others.
Tevaga now has fast healing 1
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Gargoyle of Notre Dame |

Alphonse wonders to himself, It was mentioned these Gargoyles are supposed to be the protectors of this church? Have they truly turned evil?
To make sure, he opens his heart and studies the gargoyle closely.
Use the Move action version of Detect Evil to narrow in on the Gargoyle. If it pings as Eeeeevil it's probably okay to break it. I'll base my other actions on the result.
This gargoyle does not radiate an evil aura....

Gremlin of Notre Dame |

** spoiler omitted ** Hisao mutters and, staying away from the stone monster moves to the side and hits out at one of the gremlins with his fancy new weapon.
[dice=Heavy mace+1]1d20+5;1d8+1
They're flatfooted right? If so then please add the following 1d6 sneak attack to the damage roll
[dice=Sneak attack damage]1d6
Hisao swings the mace, but fails to connect....
