Paddy curses at the gremlins, a hail of vile epithets in different languages. He winks Hisao.
I think we put the fear into their wee little hearts, me boy-o!
He calls down to the rest of the group.
Have you got the priests looked after? Those bloody things ran upstairs, tails tucked under their arses. I think we should go up together, I don't feel like getting swarmed on by the little blighters.

Ubchell Ap Ossian |

Micheal , I don't want to be rude or make this come off as snobbish , but can we do declarations in orde , so we follow int order , that way we all get in on th action , otherwise I feel reading the past few rounds have been quite difficult to follow.
Again it's not a criticism or anything , cheers
(And sorry to all if this was a little out of turn , I just find it a bit difficult to follow whose who)

Rynjin |

The problem with doing it that way is that it will take days in some cases to get everyone's action posted because people won't be posting until other people have. PBPs die because of slow posting above any other factor.

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

Yeah I like 'group initiative' for that reason, which is to say that now, Iommi-Tyr, Paddy, Trevaga, Tom, Michael and myself can post our actions then wait for MJ to post what the gremlins do and then all of us can go and wait for GM again. Hopefully there won't be too many conflicts in what people do but it's better than a worst case of everybody waiting around a day for each person to carry out their act. Let me know what you guys think.

Michael Johnson 66 |

I think that group initiative as described by Hisao probably will be the best compromise between true order and keeping up a playable pace....
Of course, the occasional retroactive change might be in order, but for the most part, as long as the actions of those who go after the bad guys/monsters are applied after the enemy actions, the actual order of who goes when on either side of enemy actions probably won't make much difference....

Yeah, when "group initiative" was first described I was a bit leery -- especially having never done PBP -- but after our initial rush of actions where some of us excitedly went too often (namely me -- sorry guys), group initiative gets my vote. There are 10 of us, assuming no one's dropping out, across 16 time zones. IF it's okay I'll just post what I think I'll do whenever the DM feels it's my turn and let him handle it. For now Iommi-Tyr Magnusson is just loading his Hand Crossbow with another Cold Iron bolt and moving 30' forward -- whenever Mike feels it's my turn. I'll shoot in round 6.

Floor plan of Notre Dame cathedral (scroll to bottom)....
The party is gathered in the north tower (the tower at the lower left corner on the floor plan)....
Charmaine has just escorted Father Renaud out from under the belfry, a little south of the north tower, and Tiberius Tacitus has just reached the north tower....
I believe nearly everyone else is either on the stairway that ascends the inner tower walls, with landings at each corner, climbing some 200 ft to the belfry....
Hisao and Iommi_Tyr are about 60 ft up now, if I recall correctly, while Paddy has passed them and is about 80 ft up.... The gremlins have ascended to 100 ft up the stairs, about halfway up the tower.... Alphonse, Upchell, Trevaga, and Michael, and I believe Tom Weed (?) have begun ascending, and are either one or two rounds of movement up the stairs.... Tiberius would be standing on the ground floor about 10 ft from the bottom of the stairs....
Corrections welcome if I missed anything....

Gremlin of Notre Dame |

Ok to get my stones in ;)
Ap Ossian draws back the sling and heaves his embed stones..
1d20+ 2
(In round 4)
The sling stones rattle against the shadowy corner that Ap Ossian sees the silhouetted forms of the gremlins lurking in, backlit by torchlight from a torch in a sconce....

Paddy |

Paddy waits for the rest of the group, calling down to them.
Are ye coming, or are ye waiting for the blessing of The Almighty first, there are things to do, people to avenge, drinks to be had. I want to get back to that inn. I think that bar wench fancies me.
Paddy waits for reinforcements and the new weapons

Michael the Warsong |

Posting in initiative order is far too time consuming. You have to make certain concessions to play on line. Rule of thumb is try to anticipate what those that go before you are going to do and plan for it. Also write down multiple courses of actions in case one of them can no longer be used.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
damage+Arcane Strike: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Using one of the cold iron arrows, Michael let's fly another shot, hoping to hit something this time.
I should be 90 up. I have used a total of three move actions to get up the stairs. And I am for any gremlin close and not in combat with someone.

Charmaine Da'vi |

for my forth round action i double move up the stairs to get as close to the rest of the party as possible
Charmaine hears the sounds of bolts flying and gremlins squealing and rushes to join the others.
for my fifth round once its gets to my turn i am going to cast Bless if i am in range of all or most of the group otherwise i will move again before casting
Charmaine closes her eyes and says a prayer as she draws on her own divine energy to protect her allies.
Mother Mary watch over us and guide us to safety and help us combat this evil before us
Divine energy radiates in a 50ft burst our from Charmaine as she blesses them.
Range 50 ft.
Duration 1 min./level
Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
everyone in 50ft receives +1 to attack and +1 to saves against fear for 1 min
also i should point out that i still have glorious presence in effect on my for 5 more rounds

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

Trying to keep the foe from getting away Hisao charges up the staircase neatly sidestepping Paddy and tries to use the momentum to stab the closest gremlin.
charge stab: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 231d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
AC drops to 15 for one round

Tevaga the redeemer |

Tevaga is still waiting, keeping an eye on the cleric and waiting for cold iron weapons. Her crossbow is loaded and will fire on any gremlin that comes back downstairs. Sorry for the tardiness, weekend was more busy than expected.

A gremlin shrieks as Michael's shot takes it in the belly, sinking deeply! The evil fairy staggers about dramatically, wailing a high-pitched squeal!

Her double move up the stairs brings Charmaine close enough to catch all of her companions in the area of the bless, including Hisao at the furthest edge of the radius....

Gremlin of Notre Dame |

Huh, double move to get right next to the nearest one then. AC still 17 and will get an AOO if they retreat further
His double move brings Hisao adjacent to the gremlin that a split-second earlier was pierced by a cold iron arrow from Michael's bow....
The apparently incapacitated gremlin groans and cowers before the ninja!

No sweat, bud, it happens.

Tiberius Tacitus |

Round 5
Tiberius, seeing glory to be won, makes a mad dash towards the stairs before starting to ascend them in hopes of catching up with whatever enemies reside above their heads.
Tiberius will use both his standard and move action to move. Taking the 10 feet to gets to the stairs into account, this should place Tiberius 25 feets up the stairs I do belive. Is this correct?

Tiberius Tacitus |

You can do just a full run for either 4 times your speed or 3 times your speed if you're in heavy armour
Unfortunately their are two factors that prevent me from taking a run action. The first is that the stairs count as difficult terrain and you can not run through difficult terrain. The second is that the stairs wind around the tower from my understanding and a run action must be taken in a straight line.

Michael Johnson 66 |

Tiberius would be 25 or 30 ft up the stairs, starting 10 ft from the bottom at a speed of 20 ft per move.... And technically, though we have all ignored it (including the gremlins, so no big deal), the stairs as diff terrain would cost 10 ft of movement per 5 ft square....

My understanding of the piecemeal armor rules gives me the impression that he still moves at 30 feet. I also updated his AC after realizing I forgot the suit bonus for wearing three pieces of armor. Then, considering the difficult terrain and 10 feet to get to the stairs, I halved his leftover movement to get 25 feet.

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

.
Round the Sixth
Move Action 30' further up.
Iommi-Tyr Magnusson, brandishing the battle-used Hand-Crossbow that apparently didn't help its French owner against the English at the Battle of Agincourt, takes aim with great ineptness, firing at the impish little Gremlin with one Cold Iron bolt already in his Fey belly, and fires.
KILL SHOT: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
I'm glad I found this old, beat-up thing lying on the battlefield.

Michael Johnson 66 |

Since we haven't been counting stairs as double movement cost due to difficult terrain, Tiberius can be as far as 50 ft upstairs with a speed of 30 ft. We will continue to treat stairs as difficult terrain for purposes of preventing charges, running, or 5-ft steps, however.

[dice=KILL SHOT]1d20+2
[dice=Damage]1d4
The bolt narrowly misses the incapacitated gremlin (even if Iommi-Tyr has Precise Shot and doesn't take a -4 to attack for firing at a foe in melee with Hisao)....

Initiative Monkey |

Round 5! Eeeeeek!
Iommi-Tyr! (Loads hand crossbow, climbs 30 ft closer to the top)
Paddy! (Awaiting his mates and cracking wise on the stairs)
Trevaga the Reedemer! (Loads a cold iron bolt onto the crossbow in her hands and looks for the acolyte to return with cold iron weapons)
Tom Weed! (Joins these humans on the stairs, urging his mobile flower up and along with him)
Michael the Warsong!(Pierces the lowest gremlin with a bolt, incapacitating the little bugger)
Hisao! (Pursues the gremlins, positioning himself to make attacks of opportunity should they flee incautiously)
Gremlins! (Scurry another 40 ft up the stairs near....something....)
Charmaine! (Hurries up the stairs behind her comrades and casts bless to catch them all)
Tiberius Tacitus the Gladiator! (Dashes 25 to 50 ft up the stairs, feeling the blessings of this New God everyone's yammering about)
Alphonse!
Ubchell!
Squeak!!! *Stuffs banana into face*

Acolyte of Notre Dame |

We can assume the four rounds required for the acolyte to fetch cold iron weapons passes tensely with everyone waiting at some level on the stairs....
The young acolyte hurries back from the shadowed nave of the great cathedral with a bag containing:
A masterwork cold iron dagger
A +1 cold iron heavy mace
A +1 cold iron short sword
A +1 cold iron battle axe
A masterwork cold iron scimitar
A +1 cold iron earth breaker
A +1 cold iron greatsword

Alphonse Veritas |

Alphonse continues ascending the stairs until such a time as he is within arm's (or scythe's) reach of one of the gremlins.
"These damn things sure do climb fast!"
So that's round 5, 6, and all the ones that come after of double moving until my slow 20 ft. a round ass catches up with one.

Tevaga the redeemer |

Round 6
Tevaga says:
Pass me the shortsword !
As she approaches the acolite, she stows the crossbow and grabs the shortword.
Next turn, she will be making her way (as double moves) up the stairs.

Tiberius Tacitus |

Round 6
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Tiberius would fail to notice the friendly acolyte baring arms to aid them in their current endeavor and continue to rush up the stairs after the others. Taking two steps at a time, he would make good time up the stairs.
Tiberius will use both his standard and move action to move.

Michael the Warsong |

Round 6
One done, two to go, the bard thinks as he knocks another arrow and fires at the next gremlin.
I move only if I have to stay within the shortbows range to hit a target not in melee.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4d6d6 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + (3, 1, 2, 6, 6, 3, 2, 1, 5, 2, 2, 5, 1, 3, 1) + (3) + 1 = 49 0_0 whoops. Um. Because Paizo saves rolls I think I'll just try again that way I can't plan for these accidentally. This is what happens when you mess up an end tag.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage+AS: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

Round 6
Hisao rolls his eyes at the cowering gremlin, and more concerned with what the crafty creatures are doing upstairs, leaps over the cowardly wretch to continue his pursuit of the other monsters.
Acrobatics to get over gremlin: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Acrobatics to avoid AOO: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Double move to catch up to the other gremlins, 40 feet up stairs

Michael Johnson 66 |

Round 6
[dice=Perception]1d20+5
Tiberius would fail to notice the friendly acolyte baring arms to aid them in their current endeavor and continue to rush up the stairs after the others. Taking two steps at a time, he would make good time up the stairs.
Tiberius will use both his standard and move action to move.
Sliding past the ninja, the Scandinavian, the Irishman, and a couple of devout and armored fellows, the gladiator ascends the the north tower of Notre Dame....

Paddy |

Paddy grabs the dagger and heads up the stairs as quickly as he can.
I'll christen this with the blood of one of the little bastards.
Paddy screams some unintelligible warcry that sounds vaguely Gaelic in nature.
