Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

Did they move past other people to us or 5ft step? Because that would mean they got a full attack but also likely they provoked. Its also possible they could have been on the back row.

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

Actually, This is also important that you might have to factor difficult terrain into their movements as well, which actually means 5ft steps are not possible.. Heh I had forgot about that on their side...

After dispatching two of the creatures, one with a double slice that rends its head off, one of Nacht's arms are caught by a slobbering mouth.

Fray Manuel Jose |

Round 3
The Dominican will continue his invocations to help his party members while bringing out a flask of holy water and will splash it at a ghoul.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
It looks like the ghoul I threw it at and any other ghoul within 5 ft will take 1 pt of damage from splash

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

So we wait on the spanish Dragoon and Jean, then see if they lived past Nacht's assualt+ AoO's combined.. my prediction? Not at all

Jimeno Díaz de Vivar |

Not sure if I can take an AoO from the second row or not as the ghouls approach.
Jimeno stabs at the next ghoul in front of him with his lance and tries to hold the line for any other of his allies to get through.
Attack Lance, Inspire: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 161d8 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11

Jean Lamarre |

I posted my 2nd round, but I don't think MJ saw it, or my understanding of positioning was wrong and therefore the post was irrelevant. Anyways...
The Third Round, Presented to you by Lamarre-brand Jeans.
'Never Feel Naked Again'
Jean continues his piercing tirade on the ghouls of Paris.
Longspear Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 141d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

3x CRIT DMG THANKS PADDY!: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Jean doesn't even notice the stench of the rotten blood as it spews onto his face as he jabs and twists his spearhead into the Ghoul's decrepit frame. He just feels alive.

The ghouls wear funeral shrouds tattered with age and little else, but some jewelry is recovered: a thin gold necklace with a golden rose pendant inlaid with garnets, a silver ring inset with a garnet, gold ring, a gold bracelet engraved with images of triremes and dolphins, a silver brooch set with moonstones, and a copper bracelet interwoven with opals....
Appraise checks can determine the values....

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

The corpses re-dead, laid around them as they were handled with speed. Nacht didnt care abut the baubles as they were not important to him. Things that shined did not keep you alive done here. He began to instead look around for where ore of them may be or more importantly the taint of the Necromancer.

Fray Manuel Jose |

The friar will offer requiem prayers for the ghouls and will take holy water and splash it on them.
In Celestial
Father, we ask you to receive the souls of our brethern. Forgive them any sins that they have done and guide their souls to the New and Everlasting Jerusalem. We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson, as the others finish off the last of the Undead, begins looking for clues, not unlike Nacht, to determine from where these Undead came....
Were they animated recently?
What were they in life, Parisians? Clerics of Notre Dame? Something else & they traveled here from afar?

Excellent....none of us lost a limb or anything important. Let's be off and set this nasty wizard off on a one way journey to Hades, then we can set Mr. Nacht here free from his predicament. So let us.....ooh....shiny trinkets....
Paddy bends down to pick up one of the baubles.
Well, this will help pay for the wine when we celebrate later....don't judge me...

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

Nacht's eyes appear to be judging you but then again he seems to be judging everyone.. and Yellow eyes are kind of hard to interpret.

These corpses, five men and a dwarf woman, each bear a brand scar on their bellies marking them as cannibals.... Likely, these were Parisians sentenced to death at the gallows for the crime of cannibalism during one of the many famines that have swept through the city throughout history....

Nacht digs through what looks to be piles of human refuse to pull out a particular bone showing it to the group as if it were plain to see for him. He was not sure what it could be but knew it held some significance being hidden.

Nacht opens it up and looks, intrigued.
A vellum scroll slides out of the bone tube into Nacht's hand....
Unrolling the scroll, he sees that it is covered in a crabbed script, seemingly scrawled in dried blood.... It appears to be in some kind of code....
Linguistics check, DC 20, to decipher the script....

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

Nacht looks at the item with confusion, another language perhaps.. there was no way of telling but He tried to figure it out.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Wis Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
After a minute he got nothing and tried once more, it simply was too archaic but he knew it meant something.
Linguistics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Wis Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Two minutes in however, his brain got a stinging feeling as he held his head. A memory flashed into existence of being in a place.. a place with bonded paper with leather covers, a candle dancing with orange flame.. words..

Jimeno Díaz de Vivar |

Jimeno looks pleased as Manuel Fray cleanses the ghouls and then frowns as Paddy mentions using the baubles for drinking away the night.
He then looks back to Manuel Fray with interest.

Jean Lamarre |

With some time to rest again, Jean settles his little self down, and checks out what Nacht and Iommi are up to. He sees the vellum scroll, its' odd script, and thinks back to his many days in the Cathedrale Sainte-Marie D'Auche, to the many scrolls, books, and answers hidden in their dusty shelves...
Know. History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Lulz NOPE!
Jean points to the ghoul corpses as he speaks to his companion.
"Monsieur Tyr, beware. That scroll may be riddled with hexes of the enemy... What does it say?"
Edited to be relevant...

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

In French: I shall read the Scroll aloud, Master Jean....
(Someone certainly has time to interrupt with a Detect Magic and warn me -- preventing the nefarious Mike to have the Runes Explode in my face.)
....Iommi-Tyr Magnusson reads aloud the scroll first in French, then in English, German and Latin. (He practices the words in rudimentary Celestial all the while, with Alphonse Veritas & Jean Lamarre, slowly picking up the beautiful language.)
....After translating the scroll for the group he further explains what he has discerned about how these Ghouls, when alive, were branded as cannibals, and that four were likely Parisian while a fifth, pointing at the short, stocky & Bearded one, was a Dwarf. (Dwarf Beards are always capitalized, you understand.)
Upon seeing that two of the newcomers, Fray Manuel Jose and Jimeno Diaz de Vivar, are Spaniards and speak not French or English, addresses them in Latin and confirms not only if they understand, but if they will teach him their tongue as we all continue to track down this Necromancer underneath Notre Dame.

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson |

Iommi-Tyr Magnusson continues with a dialog with Nacht & Fireskorn, together with Fray Manuel & Jimeno Diaz de Vivar, about how only a few hours earlier the rest of us were all but friendly strangers at an inn in Paris above, and how we joined together, haphazardly, with only knowledge that a Cleric of Notre Dame was in trouble from mischievous Gremlins.
That rumors of a vile Necromancer underneath the christian temple had put the city on edge around the same time that Conflagratius of Mercury laid his ultimatum to Europe was enough to make us want to help but when a crashing cacophony of the Notre Dame bells falling erupted from the church -- we all rushed immediately there to help.
Together we saved Father Renaud of Notre Dame, killed some wicked Gremlins, and managed to avoid some pity-worthy Gargoyles suffering from the Necromancer's curse. When we defeat the Necromancer the curse will be broken and the Gargoyles can be free to slavishly protect Notre Dame once again!
To Hisao of the Yellow Reeds and Akio Derick Ryuu, in Latin:
Astounding,... before the events of tonight I had never even met one Chinaman, and now two of 'you people' are revealing the honor of your Eastern brethren. Welcome, and, Thank you.
Iommi-Tyr Magnusson still has no idea that his remarks are racist and that these heroes aren't Chinese.

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

He was SOMEHOW less racist against Nacht.. but that might be out of fear now more than anything. He literally saw the creature.. when serious, Ginsu two things.

Jean Lamarre |

Detect Magic, coming right up
Jean takes a hint, and begins whispering over the scroll, trying to sense the presences of the spiritual energies surrounding.
said Detect Magic, cast before read, if you desire.

Paddy |

What language is that scroll laddy? I assume you can read it, after all. I might be able to figure it out.
Paddy then turns to the new adventurers. In Spanish then Italian, he says Greetings. My name is Paddy. I assume you fellows are searching for the necromancer as well? We would welcome you on this journey.

The scroll contains The Lord's Prayer in reverse, followed by a list of Satanic commandments:
Satan is thy God and Master; Thou shalt worship no other!
Keep in secret unholy idols of thy Lord Satan and His fallen angels!
Deceive thine enemies with well-spun lies and trickery!
Take from others whatever thou desirest!
Murder thine enemies--all that stand against thee!
Lay with the wives of thy neighbors, and mate with whosoever thou please!
Honor thy mother and father only if it bring glory to thy Dark Lord Satan!
Sow doubt in the hearts of those faithful to our foe, the Church of Rome!
Convert those who art worthy to the worship of Satan, and make blood sacrifice of all others!
Covet thy neighbors' goods and wives, and steal them or take them by force whenever thou mayest!

Hisao of the Yellow Reeds |

To Iommi in French
Seeing as no one is paying attention to the weird ring Hisao shrugs and slips it onto his finger after turning in the valuable necklace to the party's pool of treasure.
Joys of playing a chaotic character!

Hoenheim Dobberkau *Nacht* |

Nacht is paying attention.. its jut he doesnt really care
Nacht let the script fall to the Viking. It didnt interest him one way or the other though his arm seemed to itch. He looked for any passages at this point. He gave Hisao a glance.
" Nīsuringu. "
Before going back to his task of hunting undead and the Necromancer.
