As you know of me from the last four years gaming in the same Home-Game, I completely outlaw Player vs Player conflict -- but this is different. We're in a PbP....
This Sunday our often-absent Welsh Druid, Ubchell ap Ossian, and his East London creator (hiding in Luxembourg of course), James F, is gonna face of against North London W E Ray and Iommi-Tyr Magnusson in a cataclysmic showdown that might just shut down the Boards!

Yet on Sunday that position SHALL be reversed!
Haha! We can run a Pvp combat to the death, a la Thunderdome, between Upchell and Iommi-Tyr for fun on Sunday to commemorate the game lol.... In discussion board of course! ;)

Whoah, let me know if a Linguistics roll is valid to start speaking Japanese Mike and if so I'll respond. I thought the only way to start speaking a language in Pathfinder was to spend a Linguistics point during level up.
He didnt learn it he just understood the literal wording and re-said it much like you actually would have at him. Recycled it and asked a question. That and he has an actual rank in Linguistics to roll it. Much like if someone kept speaking Spanish around you and you noticed the similarities and understood common phrase and just said it back. You don't know the language you know the phrase

It seems a bit iffy. He's using a legitimate use for Linguistics, sort of, but it's supposed to be used on text, not speech and it's not really RAW to use it on spoken words.
I'd allow it as a GM (probably with a +5 to the DC), but not ure about Mike.
Yeah its weird because there is even mention of using it to read lips if your deaf if you KNOW the language so I took liberty with it. There are also some AP's where I have seen it used to understand an odd language eing spoke after making perceptions. Even then its not too much a stretch and considering one rank suddenly makes you able to understand an entire language I would think that it lets you try and jump barriers for basic stuff... thus Nacht's responses... and lack of fluency.
A +5 would be crazy, someone going "Ni hao" or "Ohaiyo" or "Buenos Dias' shouldnt require a scientist and usually is found out by base peopl with a DC 25 check.
I was talking more for actually speaking whole sentences.
Well in that case The base rules kinda serve that. Basic is 20, above that is 25, complex is 30.
At least as far as understanding.
It think we roleplayed it out well in Gameplay. In the end it's only on next level up that Hisao will be able to communicate with the rest of the group properly which fits the rules.

I'm tempted to have Iommi-Tyr Magnusson learn Chinese instead of Japanese as a mistake (of course, Celestial, Infernal and Welsh come first).
.... When I looked at Jean Lamarre earlier in Gameplay -- not that I have any Ranks in Heal, mind you, I noticed that he's only hurting at 7/10 HP. Is that up to date?...
It is he's just got that number in non-lethal.. never tried to kill him.
Well the Japanese word for Japan and Japanese is something like Nippon or Nihon, so unless Iommi-Tyr is aware of the pretty different pronunciation it would be a easy misunderstanding to remain under. Up to you either way.
Since both the Paris and Rome teams have streamlined considerably from their initial numbers, I'm considering a merger....
The catacombs beneath Rome and Paris could certainly be linked via secret portals....

I assume the Rome one was different in that they were supposed to have like 6 people? In this one we seem to have about.. 6-7? including Nacht. I personally don't care but you should know that as the other game had like.. 10 people and we were fine.
Also Im not sure how to progress right now as there hasn't been response from poking the alter.
Either way I'm ok with....
As long as they're good with a lot of people in a fast paced game then I'm good.
I think it'd be cool if the last couple PCs from Team France, deep in their sewer/dungeon/whatever, found a portal that teleported them into our sewer/dungeon/whatever here under Paris.
Just see if they're okay with jumping to Paris and joining another group that is not likely going to drop everything to go to Rome with them. So, er, see if they'd be happy to stay with us instead of trying to get back.
