Leira nods to Kaos and gives the enlarge to Ulfgard before the doors are opened " Bring revenge upon them "

Before the Surprise Round
Leira cast Enlarge on Ulfgard.
Ragnir brings up a Shield of Faith.
Haskyll puts up a Shield of Faith.
Kaos brings up a Shield.
Anga has a Mage Armor up, and will cast a Shield on herself. Just before opening the door she also cast Haste on the party.
Droja puts up a Shield of Faith.
Surprise Round
Ulfgard become big.
@Leira - I tend to give players a little leeway with rulings, but the Shifting Sand spell clearly indicate that "you cause an earthen or sandy surface" to be affected. The Cathedral has stone floors. The Cathedral is very old and expertly built. There would not be earthen or sandy gaps in the stones. Leira would have recognized this and have taken another action. I will edit Leira's Surprise Round actions with the next recap. Go ahead with your Round One actions as well.
Ulfgard, as a blessing, adds a bit of protection.
As the door opens, Ragnir eyes a very large Frost Giant about to throw what looks like a pelvic bone from a deer at one of the Hill Giants. He cast a Hold Person on this very large blue-skinned creature.
Frost Giant 1's Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
The first Frost Giant becomes paralyzed pelvic bone still in hand.
Haskyll touches each member of the party and provides them protection against the cold.
Also as a reminder, the Nail Mail has to be within 30 feet for it to work. And each square on this map is ten feet.
Kaos moves into the room.
I moved Kaos 30 feet into the room. Let me know if you wish him to be at another location. This map was way too big to set up grid coordinates.
Anga cast a Fireball on the pair of Frost Giants. The second Frost Giant howls in pain as fire is particularly harmful to these massive humanoids. The first Frost Giant howls on the inside.
This room is huge. I was unable to get three giants in the area of effect for the Fireball. So, I put it on the most vulnerable in the room, the Frost Giants. The held Frost Giant doesn't get a Reflex Save. Each one takes 51 points of damage. Good start.
Frost Giant 2 Reflex: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Droja will begin to summon in some help guarding the approaches.

Surprise attack
Leira shots her crossbow at the fourth giant trying to finish him fast.

The Hill Giants hesitate a moment until they see the Enlarged Ulfgard attack one of the Ogres. The Hill Giants then engage the Ranger Barbarian.
Hill Giant's initiative shifted down behind Ulfgard.

Ulfgard takes 24 points of damage.

Temperbrand Fire Elemental |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Droja finishes her summoning by bringing in an old friend. The Fire Elemental Ignan appears forty-five feet from where Droja began to cast her spell, near both Leira and Haskyll. The Fire Elemental then moves to slam against the flat-footed second Frost Giant. But even flat-footed Frost Giants are formidable and the Fire Elemental was unable to damage the big blue humanoid.
Fire Elemental slam: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 141d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (4) = 7
Droja then moves out into the massive room.
At least the Fire Elemental was able to engage without taking an AoO.

Sorry I couldn’t see the map well I meant the other one. Frost giant 2.
I was being dense I reread Haskyll’s post and see he was casting a holy smite that should only have a 20 foot spread so Liera should be safe and I believe Haskyll would get 4d8 instead of three please correct me if I’m wrong.

Leira |

Jups! I think you are right Kaos. For some reason I thought Holy Smite was an area centered in the caster (I have been using it like that for a time with another of my casters :P).
Leira had just a strange reflex, but she is ok under Haskyll's protection.

Surprise Round Complete
Leira fires her Giant Bane Crossbow at one of the Hill Giants. The arrow glances off its Hide Armor.
The Giants Flat-Footed AC is the same as their normal AC.
Round One
Leira moves in firing a pair of Scorching Rays at the Frost Giant. The first rays strikes true, but the second sailed over the Frost Giant.
Now the Touch AC is a different story, except when you roll a "1." :)
Still, the first Ray did 44 points of damage to the second Frost Giant.
The Giant Dwarf Ulfgard runs in an clobbers the fifth Ogre with Agrimmosh.
The Hill Giants move to engage the Enlarged Dwarf. The third Hill Giant pounds on Ulfgard with a Greatclub. The Dwarf Ranger Barbarian's armor protects him from the fourth Hill Giant's attack.
Ragnir runs into the massive room.
Haskyll moves into the room and rains down Holy energies upon the Frost Giants.
Extra die of Holy Smite: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Frost Giant 1 Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Frost Giant 2 Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
The first one takes 12 points of damage. The second one takes 23 points of damage. I don't think this is fire damage. It is Holy energy hence the Will instead of Reflex Save.
Hastened with an extra burst of speed, Kaos engages the flat-footed second Frost Giant. He slashes the big blue guy with Gorum's Thorn. The second Frost Giant falls unconscious from the blow.
Anga is heroic.
Droja summons in her friend and sends it toward the second Frost Giant. The Frost Giant falls about the time it arrives. Ignan's move over the second Frost Giant kills the big blue menace.
Now in a near panic, the fifth Ogre takes its club and swings at the comparable-sized Dwarf. It strikes Ulfgard squarely with its shaped tree trunk.
Ogre 5 greatclub: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 282d8 + 13 ⇒ (3, 7) + 13 = 23
Ulfgard takes 23 points of damagae.
The sixth Ogre, in mid-pee, comes out of the privy, still leaking from its previous activity. It had left its greatclub at the table and moves to retrieve it, giving Ulfgard an opportunity to react against this sixth Ogre.

Round One Complete
Anga hits the third Hill Giant with a Magic Missile.
As a peeing Ogre runs past, Ulfgard clobbers it with Agrimmosh. The Ogre staggers but does not fall.
Round Two
Leira moves to the held Frost Giant. She drives her short-sword into the creature. It would howl in pain, but instead just rolls its eyes.
The fourth one is actually a Hill Giant that Ulfgard simply pounded on and dropped unconscious.
The third Hill Giant pounds on Ulfgard with a two-handed grip on its greatclub. Its first strike hits the Enlarged Ulfgard. The second attack was ineffective.

Round Three....At least what is needed.
Leira fires an arrow into the Frost Giants head. The held Frost Giant receives a quick death.
Its Fort Save was not high enough to survive the damage taken.
Ulfgard takes a step, stumbles a bit, but recovers enough to deal a fatal blow to the last standing Hill Giant.
The rest of the party makes sure the Giants and Ogres stay dead.
Victory!
As Ulfgard returns to his normal size, and Droja bids Ignan farewell again, another Giant appears from a set of double-doors on the northwest wall of this massive room.
This giant looks unlike the others. First it is female. Soot, ash, and coal dust streak this giant’s rust-colored skin. Her eyes hold a look of both determination and detachment. Her hands are held up in a cautionary stance. She is not holding a weapon, though a massive Warhammer is at her side. She glances at the exits, then briefly toward Haskyll. Finally, she stares at Ulfgard. And then in a clear Common with just a slight Giant accent she says, "You wield the Hammer of Unmaking. You must be favored. My Mistress is sure to want to meet you."

Leira |

Leira saves her magical shortsword and reloads her heavy giant bane crossbow. When the giantess appears she tells Kaos "I do not trust her. It might be a rouse."
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The young girl seems ok, without need of healing, but plenty of blood splits around her clothes "Why do you know the Hammer of Unmaking and what does your Mistress have to do with the Whispering Tyran?"

GM Mazra |

Leira does not sense anything deceptive about this Giant.
The Giantess looks back toward her right, "We must be quick before others come. My Mistress has nothing to do with the Storm Tyrant. She is the Keeper of the Forge, and knows its secrets. But I know Agrimmosh when I see it. It is Minderhal's hammer. Used to forge the first Giant in ancient times."
She nervously looks about. "We must hurry. Follow me."
The Giantess moves to a pair of double doors on the Southwest side of the room opposite the room from where she first entered.

Leira |

"I guess we can give it a chance. What you others think?" Convinced by the giantess, Leira moves behind, paying attention to anything weird or out of place.

Anga Runedaughter |

Aye, let's go. But be wary. The agenda of this one may nay be ours.
Anga quickly casts a detect magic, and scans the fallen for magic. Then she'll follow along

GM Mazra |

Anga will not find anything on the dead Giants and Ogres that radiate magic.
The Giantess will then lead the party through one set of double-doors to another set of double doors. She motions to the party to wait as she moves through this second set of double doors. Beyond this set of doors the cathedral opens into a huge amphitheater. Three tiers of curved stone benches are arranged in immense horseshoes around the chamber’s centerpiece, a great pit filled with cold black slag. From the middle of the slag pit rises a wide, round platform of black basalt. A great forge, its fire gone cold, sits in the center of the platform, along with a massive iron anvil the size of a cow. The soot-stained ceiling arches far above the chamber floor. A bridge of stone connects the platform to a dais at the rear of the hall, where a towering statue of a stone giant ominously overlooks the entire cathedral.
There are currently no other giants in this massive Cathedral area, though there is movement in the loft above.
I will pause at this point for someone to make the DC Knowledge Religion check and see the updated map.

As the Giantess leads the party to the side of the statue, she opens of secret door and waives the party to go through it. The party moves through until Ulfgard reaches it. He slows then look over at the forge. He moves toward the forge and away from the party. Ulfgard goes and touches Agrimmosh to the forge.

GM Mazra |

Whenever the wielder of Agrimmosh successfully strikes a creature with the hammer, as an immediate action he can attempt a targeted dispel check against the struck creature, as dispel magic, to end a single ongoing transmutation effect that alters the target’s size. Other ongoing spells and effects are unaffected. The wielder uses the hammer’s caster level as his own when attempting such a dispel check.
Agrimmosh also gains 3 charges, which renew at the beginning of each day. The wielder can expend the listed number of charges to activate one of the following spell-like abilities as a full-round action; expending an extra charge to activate the spell-like ability reduces the casting time to a swift action instead. Regardless, the wielder of Agrimmosh can activate only one of the weapon’s spell-like abilities per round.
• Heightened enlarge person (1 charge, DC 23; this replaces Agrimmosh’s 1/day enlarge person ability)
• Heightened mass enlarge person (2 charges, DC 23)
• Lastly, Agrimmosh can be used in conjunction with Minderhal’s Forge at the Cathedral of Minderhal to resize magic armor and weapons.
The current AP only had the last part. I had to go back to the first AP for the other parts of what Agrimmosh does. So, as I understand it, you have everything except resizing armor and weapons. For that Minderhal's forge would need to be relighted.

Leira |

Leira nods and spots the statue entrance, still not convinced by the giantess intentions.
Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25
She then realizes Ulfgard has stopped and she turns back to tell him "A silver for your thoughts Ulfgard "

Ulfgard Strongfist |

Raising his hammer high Ulfgard let´s it hammer again on the forge, giving it a deep tone loud through the cathedral. With a smile he looks back and speaks up.
"I will do quite a bit of work here, I would guess!"
