Simplest method to see how long the ice prison lasts would be to do the heat damage to the ice, which has 30hp. And 10 points of cold damage per would.

That is the way I have been thinking. The Icy Prison would take 5HPs of damage from the heat from the Shard Slag itself, and another 5HP of damage from sitting over the Slag Pit. So that would be 3 Rounds before the Ice Melts and frees the Shard Slag. At least you stopped it for a time, and will do some damage to it. I am thinking four total Rounds and 40 points of damage.

Round Four

Kaos again attempts to make a maneuver to avoid an attack. But this time one of the Shard Slags blades reached out to the approaching Dragon Disciple. The blade cleanly missed Kaos. Kaos, on the other hand, did not miss. His slice cut through slag and blades.

Shard Slag 4 Blades AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 171d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Leira reaches for a potion.

Haskyll hits the fourth one again with a Create Water spell.

The Create Water doesn't actually do any damage. But it will Stagger them if they fail a DC 20 Fort Save.

Anga cast a Shield on herself from a scroll. She notices that her Icy Prisoon is melting at a quick rate. Steam erupts around the creature.

The third Shard Slag takes another 10 points of damage from the Icy Prison.

Lug moves toward some of the party and begins to play his half-strung harp.

Everyone gets a +1 to hit and damage on your rolls.

Ferrin works on the fourth Shard Slag.

Round Five...well mostly

Kaos sprouts wings and moves toward the second Shard Slag.

Leira, recovering from her wounds, also sprouts wings. Who knew?

Haskyll expands his Aura of Protection and readies an attack.

I am thinking Ulfgard is in it, Kaos, Anga, and Lug as well.

Lug continues to play his harp.

Ferrin notices the ice melting around the third one. She steps toward it and readies an attack.

Ulfgard is typically heroic.

The second Shard Slag strikes out at the Water Elemental. It disrupts some of the Water Elemental's form, but the damage is minor.

The third one's Icy Prison continues to rapidly melt.

Leira flies in the air and cast a Ray of Enfeeblement at the second Shard Slag. It is weakened by the ray.

Haskyll is typically heroic.

Anga whittles down the second Shard Slag with another Magic Missile.

Lug continues to play his harp. The sound resonates throughout the Cathedral.

Ulfgard prepares for a counter-charge.

The second Shard Slag lashes out at the Dragon Disciple, but the weakened attack glances off Kaos' defenses.

Round Seven

Kaos puts everything into his next strike. And with this blow, he ends the second Shard Slag. It too hardens then shatters.

Leira's parting shot bounces off bits of metal.

Just as the second Shard Slag ends, a fifth one begins to emerge from the slag pit.

Ferrin has had enough. With her warhammer in one hand, she holds up a symbol of Minderhal, "I am the master of the forge now. You will obey me. You will do as I say. You will only emerge when I say to defend the forge if needed."

The Shard Slag flows back into the molten slag to once again feed on any impurities in the hot mix of metals. It does not emerge. It obeys Ferrin.

The party finally heals and rest.

But just as darkness fall a commotion is heard from outside. The party and the giants go see what the disturbance is all about. Coming up toward the Cathedral is a cohort of Dwarves led by the Warpriest Ragnir riding upon a massive boar. Two others are on equally massive boars, but most of the nearly 50 Dwarves are on foot, their armor gleams in the light of a near full moon. They have come to assist the party. But as is, they have come to take possession of the valleys of Minderhal for Janderhoff.

The following days will see times of tension between Dwarves and Stone and Slag Giants. But eventually a peace is achieved and era of cooperation between these once hostile races is achieved.

The Forge is rekindled and the party is truly victorious.

This is also a good place to end the Campaign. Thanks everyone for your participation. I hope you have found some enjoyment in it. Again, thanks a lot Mazra! And thanks you all others! You all truly are nice people and I am happy for the adventures we have shared.

Leira looks in fear as another shard jumps out of the forge. She breaths deep in tension as Ferrin attempts to command the great artifact of the giants, and finally relaxes when it seems he is able to.

With the Forge returning to quietness, Leira once more thanks both Droja and Haskyll for keeping her alive in such a dare moment "I can't believe we have not only managed to tame the rage of the Cathedral but also to fire back the Forge. You dwarves are stubbornly successful. I am just so grateful I found you back at the Ghostlight Marsh. I would have never reached so far without you"

The girl is happy to finally have some time to rest, but she is also the first one to run meeting the army of dwarves. She smiles as she spots Ragnir riding a boar at the front of the dwarven army "The dwarves of Janderhoff... You made it my friend... you made it..."

As days pass the initial excitement of Ragnir's return fades away as the dwarves work hard to take control of the valleys. Leira frowns as the dwarves get entangled in dwarven stuff and well she quickly realizes for much she loves her dwarven friends, there is nothing that can stop dwarves from doing dwarven things when they decide it is time to do dwarven things.

Ultimately the girl departs one night after a highly emotional farewell. Leira picks up her bow, a bit of food, and the scrolls of arcane magic with all the teachings Anga has managed to make her learn and walks away from the Cathedral and the dwarven campsites.

Soon the girl walks back into the roads, resolved to find Skirgaard. Leira does not look back, it has been a long time she left Trunau, and whatever her true blood is, a Truanian never stops fighting. A tear drops on her Lover's locket in her fist while she quickly disappears on the shadows of destiny.
